Have really good food but expensive. I was there last week and got one of their ""new"" sandwiches with water - bill was $6.xx and there was very little chicken on the sandwich. ...

terrible 4/22/2012

The Thai Chicken Salad was terrible......inedible salad dressing that tasted like insecticide. But that's not why I'm bothering to write this review. My bigger complaint is, the to-go containers were #6 plastic......not even recyclable! There are plastic containers just like it used by many food purveyors that are #1 or #5 plastic and totally recyclable, so what excuse does St. Louis Bread Company have in using non-recyclable materials? How much non-recyclable trash do you suppose they generate daily? I'm astounded, disgusted......and ashamed that they use the name of our good city for their backwards products. more

Busy Location but Good Service 4/16/2011

when i went there during lunch, it was busy and they forgot to put the chicken in my salad. when i called a man answered the phone. he was very professional and aplogized for the mistake and sent a coupon for me use later. I go to this location at least 2x a week for lunch and this was the first time something like this happened. when a place is busy you can expect some mistakes but I was very pleased how he was eager to fix the problem for me. more

Very disappointing both staff and coffee beverages 2/7/2011

St. LOUIS BREAD COMPANY use to be one of my wife's and my favorite spots the pastries, soups and sandwiches were and are still great. However the main reason we stopped was Capacino and other espresso drinks. Your employs have no idea how to make these drinks. Our last attempt to get espresso was very disheartening argued on how it was made a really neither knew. If you want capacino don't go to St.LOUIS BREAD they have no idea. I hope they give attention to this problem are they will not survive. Mark. G. Spalding more

not as good as it once was 1/13/2011

I have been going to St. Louis Bread Co. for years and have usually had a good experience with the food and staff. However, after visiting the South County location recently I was dissatisfied with both. I try to get different things just to be adventurous, and this time I got the Thai inspired chicken salad... I thought that it was horrible. Not only were the vegetables and lettuce quite wilted, but the flavors were WAY off. The dressing was too spicy for a deli salad and did not go with the other ingredients at all. \r \r Not only the food, but the service... I have a Panera rewards card which I forgot to tell the cashier at first. Then in the middle of the transaction I remembered. I told her and she just looked at me like ""you have got to be kidding"". I just said nevermind and she never said another word to me. Not very good service if you ask me! I was not extremely satisfied at this particular visit. more

Not what it once was 3/24/2009

My experience was at the Bread Company in Wentzville Missouri. I ordered a soup in the breadbowl and a cup of soup through the drive thru. The breadbowl was my daughter's. At home my daughter pulled out some of the bread from the bowl and when she poured the soup in it filled the breadbowl less than half way. The new paper cups being used contain much less soup than the styrofaom containers that have been replaced. Used to be that I could order a ""cup of soup"" and be full when finished. Thats no longer the case.\r Worse is when I wrote the Bread Co. online to complain I was sent an e-mail lauding their ""green"" change to paper cups and they were sorry I was ""confused"" about the new cups being used. \r What I got was not worth the money paid. more

Favorite cut down on quantity and quality. 3/7/2009

I have eaten at many St. Louis Bread Company's for many, many years. I had my first disappointing experience this evening, in Washington, MO.\r \r I understand we're in an economic recession, however, raise the prices. My Greek salad was much smaller and full of stalks........something that has never happened in all the years I have been eating there. My mother's bowl of brocolli cheese soup was much smaller and the amount of chicken salad on her sandwich was a small spoonful. Very disappointing after many happy years eating in one of my favorite spots. Stalks are unacceptable, more than 1/4 of the salad was stalks, I pushed them aside and ate my little salad. \r On the up side, the staff was wonderful, pleasant, helpful, patient, with they had a better product to offer for their sake, they couldn't have been better.\r Regretful patron. Cons: Fast service, great staff. more

Great place to eat & work! 12/4/2008

I love Bread Co. as I work for a virtual company and I sometimes need a place to work. Bread Co. works nicely because of their free wi-fi and bread-based foods. I will commonly eat breakfast and lunch there in the same day (because I haven't left my seat). Pros: Wi-fi Cons: Outlets more

Great food, lousy customer service. 3/21/2007

St. Louis Bread Company has great food and good prices. However the service persons tend to be somewhat rude. more

Yummy 11/20/2006

I love to come here to feel like I am eating lightly and freshly. Everything is great. I usually get Classic Cafe and Broccoli and Cheddar soup. Pretty pricy but great stuff more

Good food, so-so service 7/28/2006

The food is consistently good. I love eating there. This location is always crowded. The staff is typically very friendly, but, tends to argue about coffee, I think they need additional training. SLBC has a product called IcEE Mocha. I order IceD skim mocha and am told they're premade and only come with non-skim milk. At which point I stress again iceDDDDDD, not icEEEE, and some of them still don't get it and pass me off to someone else. It is really silly, since anyplace else in the city and the rest of the country is familiar with this basic terminology. It's a good mocha, but, a hassle to get sometimes. Pros: Great food. Neat ambiance. Wi-fi. Cons: You might have to argue about their iced coffee. more

Better than it's competition! 5/27/2006

Food consistent with quality ingredients. Main issues are service. Tables not cleaned in a timely manner and messed up my order on more than one occasion. Compared with Quizno's & Subway, prices are within 10 - 15%. Setting in St. Louis Bread is far better with WIFI and sofas and lounge chairs. People are complaining about the price, yet they go to St Louis Bread anyway. Some menu items fairly priced and other menu items are bit higher than would be expected. The best deal to me seems to be the half soup or salad and half sandwich for about $8 including tax. The same thing at McDonald's (if they had the soup) would be over $6 with tax. We also don't have to speak about which restaurant chain has the healthier ingredients. I'd rate McD's a 5 overall and I'd rate St. Louis Bread a 7 overall. Pros: Quality, Value, Comfort & Convenience Cons: Crowded at Lunch, Some Items High $, Service more

Cheap?????? 9/8/2005

Cheap? Hardly. The food is good but this doesnt classify as a cheap meal. Pros: Quaility, Atmosphere, Cleansliness Cons: price, portions more

it's not cheap 7/26/2005

it's ok but not CHEAP! I go for the bowl of soup in a bread bowl. Pros: good soup Cons: not cheap! more

Cheap? 4/8/2004

I wouldn't really consider Bread Co. a cheap restaurant. I just went there this evening and spent $6 on a cold sandwich and for a college student that is a lot of money. The food is excellent though and it keeps me coming back for more. P.S. Try the smokehouse turkey, it's excellent. Pros: Great food more

Definitely NOT a Good Value 3/18/2004

I love the restaurant, but it is certainly not a good value for the money you spend. I do not know why it is listed under the ""cheap eats"" category, because THAT it is not!!!! Pros: Gourmet, Nice atmosphere more

total addiction 10/19/2003

Love thier coffee, Peanut Butter Banana Crunch Bagel, and most of thier sandwiches. It has gotten more pricey, but then again, its about $2 more than McD's and 10 times as good. When its lunch time, the question is which Bread Co? (I recommend Clayton, on Clayton Road--best quality, friendly managers) Pros: coffee, WiFi, everything Cons: prices have increased, not in Edwardsville, parking can be bad more

Best Bagels 5/31/2003

I love Bread Company, for it's bagels and pasties, they're delicious, and you may think, ok, a bagels a bagel, well not here its not. I recommend trying cinnamon crunch throught the bread slicer. Pros: Great food, good service, cute cafe atmosphere Cons: little parking more

Good but pricey 2/7/2003

Have really good food but expensive. I was there last week and got one of their ""new"" sandwiches with water - bill was $6.xx and there was very little chicken on the sandwich. Their coffee and bagels are great - also pricey. more

Good good food 2/7/2003

This restaurant is tops! The food is excellent and the atmosphere is fun and fresh. more

Yummy 2/7/2003

I have always had a good experience at St.Louis Bread Co. Their Tomato/Mozeralla salad is my favorite! Pros: decor, food, bakery Cons: No Soy for hot drinks more
