Best

We visited September's right after it opened and it was okay. Decided to give them another try after talking with friends who had eaten there recently and had a great experience....

Worst

We really wanted to like this place - it's beautiful to look at, in a great location and has a fantastic wine list, but the food was cold! Everyone at the table got different ite...

Yummy 5/27/2010

September's Cafe, simply put, is beautiful. It's one of the few places in Hendersonville with true ambiance. It started out great in the service department but seems to be hiring cheaper and less experienced lately. The menu is diverse with some really unique and delicious choices. I particularly love the Spinach Salad and I usually wouldn't like Spinach Salad! I add chicken to make it even better. If you live here or just visiting be sure to add this to your list of fun things to do. Pros: Great Menu Cons: Service is falling short lately more

Fresh food 3/15/2010

We visited September's right after it opened and it was okay. Decided to give them another try after talking with friends who had eaten there recently and had a great experience. I am glad we gave them another chance. Pros: Best restaurant in the area more

Great Salads 1/9/2010

I have been there several times and enjoy the atmosphere each time. Service is better at night than at lunch. Don't go here for lunch if you don't have a least 1 hour to spend. Pros: Great atmosphere, Great food, Great wine list Cons: Little pricey for Sumner County more

A little overprice, but go on a Monday for 1/2 price entree 12/8/2009

We went to September's on a Monday night and were happy to find that Monday's are 1/2 price entree nights. Otherwise, I think the food is overpriced. I do find it funny when people complain when they get the bill--the prices are plainly listed on the menu so unless you can't do math, there should be no surprises when the bill comes. I'd highly recommend the mushroom fritters, the duck and the portobello mushroom sandwich. The sunken pecan cheesecake was fabulous--though probably not worth the $8 a slice pricetag. We did not order any specialty drinks, but they looked very appealing. The atmosphere was cozy, but the seats were not very comfortable. The service was good--she kept our glasses full, told us the specials, and even asked if I wanted something in place of my garlic mashed potatoes (no, just want them in a to go box so I'll have room for the desert!) Overall, I'd say as long as you stick to Monday nights, its a pretty good deal for the food quality. I left stuffed and satisfied. Pros: sunken pecan cheesecake Cons: uncomfortable seats more

Not enough attention to detail 12/1/2009

The evening started with a bad omen: I brought up September's on Google maps (the most popular online map, right?) and got directions...to Indian Lake Rd, not Indian Lake Blvd. What business doesn't check their GOOGLE listing for accuracy? Pros: Martinis, apps and dessert Cons: Prices, value, location more

Sunday Lunch not worth eating 10/6/2009

Our family went to Septembers this past Sunday for lunch. The waitress was nice and we were promptly seated. There were hardly any customers in the restaurant and it was almost noon. The food took over 30 minutes, but we just assumed it was because it was being prepared. I had the Pork Tenderloin and it was too saltly. My wife had the Ravioli and it was too mushy. Our children also ate off the childrens menu and it didn't complain, but also didn't finish their food (which is rare and means it wasn't that good). I was astounded when our bill came and it was $69 before tip. We only had 2 drinks (soda) and the rest was water. If we plan on paying that kind of money we would have gone to a better restaurant. Definitely not worth the money. Pros: Pretty Restaurant Cons: Food terrible and over-priced more

Unethical 9/25/2009

My boyfriend and I went to Septembers recently and they had a band in house. After some drinks, appetizer and entrees our bill was outrageous. (well over $100). We asked the server to explain the $20 additional charge and he said it was for the band $10 a piece. We asked to speak to a manager, and he just brought the bill back without the charge. It is a good thing or we would have called the Newspaper or Chamber of Commerce! Pros: Northing Cons: Cover Charge for Band more

Ridiculous they have stayed in business this long 9/22/2009

My husband and I recently dined at September's. We were excited to try the restaurant given how close they were located to the movie theatre. After the movie we headed over to the restaurant at about 6:30 p.m. on a Saturday night and were shocked the there probably only about 3 couples dining. That should have been our first clue! Pros: Nothing Cons: Food is all stale and the service is not professional more

Not so hot 4/20/2009

We really wanted to like this place - it's beautiful to look at, in a great location and has a fantastic wine list, but the food was cold! Everyone at the table got different items and everyone's food was cold - it was just strange! The place was really busy, and the waiter kept apologizing but with cold food and so-so service, I don't think we will be going back. Pros: Great atmosphere Cons: Over-priced and cold food more

Great experience 3/10/2009

Went to the new Regal Theater this past weekend and decided to try the new restaurant, September's. My wife and I were upset with ourselves because we had not tried them before. We had a great time and a great meal. I had the short ribs and she had the scallops (she said they were very fresh) - nobody else in this area serves scallops as far as we know. We got to meet the owners - and discovered they are local - not a chain - finally - Hendersonville is getting the shopping and dining we deserve. Pros: outdoor seating, service Cons: no valet more

Avoid September's 2/23/2009

I read all the bad reviews but wanted to see for myself. So after a daytime movie earlier this month I stopped in for a light meal. I didn't order anything complicated - just the soup of the day, and a half grilled cheese sandwich with garlic mashed potatoes. The entire meal was awful. I thought I had ordered tortilla chicken soup, but what I got was more like thickened potato soup that had been on the stove for a day or two. The sandwich was cold and the cheese never melted , it was just a pile of grated cheese between two slices of toast. I sent the mashed potatoes back as they were horrible! They were like a big ball of tasteless glue made from potatoes and water. I asked for french fries and you can find better fries at any McDonalds. Now don't think this mess of a meal happened because they were busy. I think we were probably the only ones in the restaurant at the time. And for some reason the waitress plopped herself down on a chair next to us for an unwanted chat. I'll never go back and expect to see a ""closed forever"" sign in the window soon. Pros: The restaurant is close to a movie theater. Cons: Apparently no one in the kitchen knows how to cook and the owner doesn't care what she serves. more

Much needed in this area!! 11/29/2008

I will admit, I was a little skeptical about this place because of some bad reviews that I've found on the internet. But after eating there with my family last week, I will start being skeptical of bad reviews that I read!! We had a fabulous time! more

superior service, new menu items, desserts - wow! 10/12/2008

I was more than surprised at our recent visit to September's. We made the mistake of going during the first few weeks of opening. I have done this with more than one restaurant and should have learned my lesson. I suppose things aren't done quite right. Anyway, my husband and our 2 kids went Saturday night and they were talking about the new things on the menu for the fall. This was a new one for us. We (and our friends) frequent Cheddar's and the menu is always the same. So we had to spend some time studying. Our waiter was very patient and explained the new stuff to us - they had food that H'ville does not normally have - scallops - yum - one of my favorites as well as short ribs- and lamb. Not a favorite but one of our friends love it so I will have to tell him. Dinner was fab - our kids were excited we took them - they always wanted to dine out at a classy restaurant and the food they had was eaten completely. Septembers did not have a printed kids menu but the waiter knew what items were available for kids - good selection -it took care of my picky ones. Anyway - we were taken care of and felt special and the food was great - along with the service - much improved over the opening visit. I think we have found our spot in H'ville. Also they had a jazz group on the patio with the firepit - if we had not had the kids we would have stayed - they sounded really good. Pros: valet, fire pit, Cons: no crayons more

Not a quick bite... 9/16/2008

I was at September's with a group of women friends for a quick bite to eat before a movie...Although the restaurant was serving only two tables, it took 25 minutes to seat us outside. The service took over one and one half hours to be on our way, making us late for the start of the movie. All I had was the ""flourless"" chocolate cake with orange glaze for $8 and coffee. The glaze was outstanding, but the cake was stale and the chocolate icing was tasteless. Still we had a good time- the linens and table herbs were nice. Pros: atmosphere, martini menu, Cons: slow, menu descriptions hard to live up to more

great music night 8/8/2008

Heard about live music at the new center in Hendersonville on Indian Lake. Made reservations to sit on the patio at September's. Read the review in the paper a few weeks ago and we have been trying to make it there - so the weather was going to be right and thought it would be a good time to enjoy. And enjoy we did. The music was in the grass behind the restaurant. We could hear the music perfectly although the band had their back to us. But we could see the fountains and the kids playing - what a great location. We also had great mojitos - very fresh mint and the 3 of us each had a different menu item. My salad was huge and tasty - had to take some home, my husband had stuffed burger and he loved it, my child had chicken fingers and the macaroni and cheese (I could have made a pig out of myself with that). All in all we had a great night and will return again - maybe next Thursday. Pros: location, ambiance, fresh food Cons: not enough seats on the patio - need to have reservations more

I really WANT to like this restaurant, but you're making it hard! 8/4/2008

This was our second visit to Septembers in a month - we had a mediocre experience the first time (see my earlier review) and hope the 2nd time would be better - it wasn't. Pros: Location, wine list Cons: everything else but the location and wine list - this place sux more

best pace to go for that special event 6/28/2008

i took my wife out fri night for our 12 yr anv the server was awsome had great knowlege of the wine menu and brought us a few different samples till we had one we loved and he let us try a sample of the bread pudding whice was truely awsome i ailso had the duck and my wife had the filet which was truely great . i dont remember our servers name but he said he was the only one who had a special 9 pen and i see why be sure to ask forthe guy with the 9 pen and get the duck Pros: service and food Cons: honestly cant think of one more

Don't do it 6/18/2008

I have eaten at Septembers twice since they opened. The first time was a wonderful experince, and I was excited that Hendersonville finally got a great restaurant. The second time, I decided I was not going back ever again. We made a reservation for a booth, but when we arrived even though there were plenty of available booths, they sat us at a table. While being seated at the table the host who was seating us was briskly wisked away by the manager. She came back and did not even apologize for her surprise departure. I reminder her that we were the paying customers. She made some excuse about her manager requesting her attention. They finally got us a booth, and we ordered salads. They brought to many salads for the number of people at the table. The food was horrible. One person in our party got the same item that ordered last time. It looked like a different dish. I could not even find the vegtables on my plate. I am willing to pay the price for outstanding service and food, but September's is far from it. When we complained that the food was not good, the waiter said he would spread the word. We did not even get a visit from the manager, let alone the owner, and I know she was there. By the way lo mein noodles should be listed as lo mein noodles, not pasta. more

Great wine tasting! 6/17/2008

My friends and I went to September's last night for a wine tasting - very good. They had 4 wines for us to try along with food that was to compliment the wines. The wines were great - we got to taste some things that we might not have normally selected. The food was a perfect match to the wines. It will help me in pairing wine with food on future visits and at home. Plus they had a person there to talk more about the wine and they gave us all tasting info. Pros: great service, great location Cons: need valet more

So-So September's 6/16/2008

It's hard not to love the vibe, September's really has a sharp, classy look. But when it gets right down to it, there are way too many ""good but not great"" restaurants in the Hendersonville area to be just ""another pretty face"", September's needed to excel in every area but fell short. The service was only mediocre, timing of the food delivery was terrible and a huge tray dropped by a waiter at an adjacent table, sending food splattering over one of my kids, didn't get so much as an apology. I didn't so much mind the 45 minute wait, (you expect that on a weekend) but it was insulting when the waitress kept saying ""about 5 more minutes"" after first telling us that the wait would be 20 minutes to a half-hour. The staff, while sharp and professional in appearance seemed disconnected and bordering on snobbish. The average-quality meals served at higher-than-average prices rounded out a consistently blase dining experience. I hope September's management gets a handle on just how much work they have ahead of them to compete for our hard earned dining dollars, but it would take a lot to make me give September's a second chance. First impressions are just too important. Pros: Beautiful decor, great date destination Cons: Food, service and price were equally disappointing more
