Only loved by the ""Housewives of Columbus"" 3/20/2011

I was hoping for a special celebration dinner and came away extremely disappointed. The menu is limited and the presentations and portion sizes are small. The crowd noise on a Saturday night was extreme and the mood could best be described as pretentious. My fish entree was bland and small. Extremely disappointed. more

Best in Columbus 5/10/2010

After being disaapointed in my last few dinners out I took a friend's advice and went to RIgsbys. Glad I did. The food is outstanding. Good italian wine. Do as I did. Order the specials of the night that are not on the menu. :Last time I had it this good was Handkes \r \r The ceasar salad is outstanding. I know...it's salad, how good can it get? In this case it gets pretty darn good. \r \r The chairs were odd. Something from the 70's and seemed out of place but who cares when the food is this good. \r \r Dinner at Rigsbys then Jenni's ice cream & coffee (or cocktail if the wine wasn't enough) at Burgundy Room. That's a wrap. \r \r I can add Rigsbys to the short list of places that are top notch. Handkes, The Refectory...and now Rigsbys. Pros: Food Quality Cons: chairs? more

Too salty, Too oily, Too Rich, and Bland (Vegetables worse than a college dining hall!) 1/19/2009

The side dishes served with the lamb stew were way too small. The completely ordinary broccoli was way overcooked, then dried out in the oven. It was drowning in salt and melted butter-- really inedible.\r \r The large portion of lamb was from a local farm and pretty good, but since I prefer a smaller serving of meat, it was very disappointing to not have anything else to enjoy, except the bread which was very good.\r \r Hasn't the idea of 'Nouvelle' cooking been around for over 25 years?! I expected a more original vegetable recipe, and also Nicer Presentation. Nothing was served with a sprig of fresh mint, rosemary, chives, or even the usual parsley. (I looked around at other diners' plates and noticed more boring meals.)\r \r I am not a chef, but even my own dinertime creations are brightened up by chunks of mango with ginger or thin slices of orange pepper, and if the stew says 'mint', we should actually taste it!\r \r Pros: nice cozy ambience on an off night (not noisy) more

Worst EVER Treatment of Patrons 3/7/2008

How can a restaurant that claims to be one of Columbus' finest treat their patrons like dirt? I am another one of the many of people that went to that special goodbye luncheon, only to have racked up a $26 bill for a burnt hamburger. I vow to NEVER set foot in this place again. Being charged ONCE for our meals was bad enough ( it took forever for our food to arrive, so therefore I had no choice but to try and eat my burnt sandwich. No one had time to wait for me to re-order!) \r \r Ok people, it has been since January 17th, when they double charged our cards! On the 25th of February, I sent in the credit card error report, complete with my credit card number (AGAIN) and it has been almost two weeks and still NO REFUND~! What is the deal? I have made lots of phone calls, spoken to the accountant, the owner, the bartender, and yet NO ONE has cared enough to really respond to us. We are talking hundreds of dollars here. If you are smart, you won't even go there, but if you do, PAY CASH>>>> that way you won't be screwed out of your $ like the rest of us. \r \r The days of good customer service used to outnumber the bad, not in this place. Read all these reviews, we aren't the only disgruntled patrons of this supposed FINE dining establishment. Go across the street to MAC'S, it's worth your time and money. I haven't EVER had bad service or food there! I wish I could say the same thing for Risgby's. I have eaten at many of the Cameron Mitchell Restaurants here in Columbus, so I know good food, good service and value for my money. I really feel that they should better treat the ones who had no control over this issue.... I hope if you are visiting our fine city, that you will have a better experience than we did. Pros: can't think of any Cons: being charged TWICE for a meal, and not refunded more

fine dining doesn't equal fine service 3/7/2008

on the 15th of january a group of my co-workers and i went to rigsby's for lunch. on the 17th my co-workers had discovered that we had all been charged twice, due to rigsby's credit card machine ""going down"". my charge was $7.56, (by far the smallest bill at the table) the others were in excess of $20.00. i started calling the resteraunt and spoke with the accountant ""we are working on it "" was all i got through several phone calls. then i was able to get in touch with the owner, (after more than 10 days of being told someone would call me back). when i spoke with tassi rigsby she said it was being taken care of. after 30 days of waiting for the $7.56 charge to be removed i called back and spoke with the owner again and she proceeded to tell me that they needed more info off of our credit cards faxed to them in order to go through thier records and find the charges. they couldn't have called to tell us any of this?... because they certainly had our phone numbers. at on point tassi said she would contact one of us within the hour and that never happened. never through any of these conversations with the owner or the accountant was an apology made or the offer of eliminating the charges completely or gift cards or anything. as of the week of the 21st of feb (more than 30 days) when i recieved the credit card correction form, filled it out and sent it back. i have yet to recieve a credit to my account and it has been 39 business days. no excuses.\r stick to old faithfull across the street ""MAC'S"" better service better food and i never have to worry about the charges. Cons: poor customer service even from the owner more

charged twice, not refunded and over 45 days! 3/6/2008

Due to the customer service we have recieved, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone! \r \r We visited with a large group from work for a very special going-away luncheon, paid our bills and THEN the problems started. Our credit cards/bank cards were charged TWICE for our meals. Although we tried MANY times to get this resolved, with promises from everyone in the accounting department to the store OWNER,that it would be taken care of.... we STILL (after almost two months) have not recieved our money back.!!!! When we called, the owner said she would get back with us within in hour......NEVER HAPPENED. When I talked with the accountant, you would have thought that I was the one who had made the mistake and they were irritated that they had to bother with this issue and that 'it would take time to fix this'! How much time do they need? ???\r \r At this point I think we all should be refunded both charges as now we have incurred charges from our credit cards for this 'mistake' on their part!\r \r Due to the advertised 'high quality' of this establishment, we, at the least should have recieved refunds for both charges, gift cards and apologies for their errors, not avoidance!\r \r \r Caution....if you eat here, pay cash or check your account!!!! Cons: poor customer service more

Good, but not necessarily worth the price 3/1/2008

We were seated promptly and very curteously by the hostess and were greeted quickly by our very affable server. Anyone who claims service is a problem here is either getting the wrong server or hasn't been here lately.\r The wine selection is pretty good but what brings this place down is that the kitchen is noisy and you can feel the vibrations through the floor from the dish tank in certain parts of the dining room. It's not noticeable until you just sit there and then you feel a vibration pulsating through you - very unpleasant.\r \r The food is good, especially the little starter dishes they have. For an entree we had the duck risotto which tasted great but was too rich and oily and the lamb shank which was good but good have been slow-cooked a little bit longer as it was not as tender as it could be. The endive salad was not great either and it had a lot of nuts and what was supposed to be roquefort cheese was a cheap alternative that totally undermined the experience and made the dish not worth it's $10 (for a side salad).\r \r In the Short North I would stil recommend Marcella's over this place, if you want good-tasting greasy food, might as well go to the place which is slightly cheaper, has a better atmosphere and has food just as good. Pros: nice design, friendly staff, good service and food Cons: poor value, noisy kitchen, vibrations more

My Columbus Restaurant 1/12/2008

Best restaurant in Columbus. I travel all over the U.S and am always happy to come back to Rigsbys. Eat here once a week when in town. Interesting place as you can wear black tie and gown or blue jeans and sweater and everyone is comfortable with it. Servers are outstanding, watchful and really know about the food they serve. When Richard and Roger play jazz on Wednesday night you couldn't hear better music in NYC. Also easy to order just small plates or a full dinner menu. Just a fun place to hang out and watch the passing parade. Pros: consistently terrific food in all areas Cons: honestly can't think of any more

Customer Serivce should be their main ingredient 6/2/2007

It all started when were given a gift certificate as gift in February of 2006 thinking that we could probably use it in a year. Little did we know, my wife became pregnant, gave birth to two beautiful twin girls in January of 2007, and losing one of them shortly after the birth of both. The wife and singleton remained in the hospital for over 3 months in result of the babies being a preemie. Once we realized that we wanted to share our anniversary at Rigsby's, we called them and asked if we could still honor the gift certificate even though the expiration date was Feb. 11, 2007 and it was coming up on March. when my wife called Rigsby's, they completely understood our situation and said they would honor our expired gift certificate. I will leave out the names of who we spoke to due to respect. \r \r Once you have children, you wonder where the time goes. it just slipps by! So its our first night out in a long time , and we wanted it to be special. We invited out two closest friends to join us tonight. We made last minute reservations on Friday, June 1, 2007 and I called on Saturday, next day, to verify. When I called to verify the reservations, i also wanted to ask about the Gift Certificate. It was for $100 which can easily be spent in there and planned on spending much more that night. I explained our situation that we have not had a chance to use our GC and that I spoke to something a few months back, they said it was OK to use.\r \r This person said I could talk to the owner when coming in for diner tonight. To make this story come to an end, much like our relationship with Rigsby's, we canceled and plan on dining elsewhere for now on. Next time, answer Yes, what's the Question? Pros: Good Food Cons: Bad Customer Service more

OK Food, but... 8/15/2006

Been there twice, but probably won't go back. If you are not a 20 or 30 something suit or a woman with some fancy dress, you won't fit in or get much service. The place is extremely loud also, so your pickup lines won't be heard anyway. Terrible acoustics. Can't complain about the food though. Pros: Clean looks Cons: Service, volume level, parking. more

Not One Good Thing 7/22/2006

While waiting for our reserved table (30 minutes), we waited 10 minutes for the bartender to sort us out of the 8 whole people that were at the bar, and ask us if we wanted a drink. Once seated, we waited 20 minutes for anyone to realize that it was 9pm and we might want to order something.\r \r The ""roasted"" beets, tasted like they came out of a can from Aldi's. My fish dish was raw - and I'm not talking sushi grade, I'm talking Walleye. You do not want that raw. I sent it back, and I was offered - a SALAD. Are you kidding me? My companion's pork was a lovely pork cutlet that was breaded - looked/tasted like it came out of the frozen food box. We never received bread, although it was promised several times. \r \r I honestly do not know why anyone goes here. There was no redeeming factor. This is the worst meal I have had out in a few years. Very disappointing. Pros: Location Cons: Food, Service, Price more

Enjoyed my experience. 4/21/2006

I went here back in February and it was nice. The restaurant was quite loud (it was a Saturday night, though) but the service was nice. I went with several of my friends and the staff was nice to accomidate the 2 extras we added at last minute, and our fifteen minute late arrival (oops!) Our waitress was nice, which we weren't expecting, seeing as we were all 14-17 years of age. The food was delicious and came out in a reasonable time. The only downsides I would say are the volume of the place (loud) and parking was kind of difficult. Pros: food, staff Cons: parking more

Other than that, food is good.... 1/10/2006

Nice place, excellent food, service also good...Don't know why, but acoustics are terrible, and if you go when it's a peak time, be prepared to yell across the table..Have not figured out why some Columbus restaurants are over the top in the loudness department....Not the place for an intimate quiet dining experience. I prefer to converse with my mate thru talking, not sign language...Oh, and wear something nice, and then that way you will be able to fit in with the 20-something sex-in-the-city wannabes....... Pros: Good food, good service, good eye-candy Cons: At peak times, WAY too loud more

Best Food In Town 7/29/2002

Rigsby's has been a leader in the fine dining world for years now and it keeps on getting better. Kent Rigsby knows what it takes to produce a great dish. I have never had a bad meal there. Pros: good off-street park, excellent menu, great wine more
