garbear's reviews 12/5/2002

for numerous years, friends and I have had an opportunity to order by delivery, and found that Savoys have had the best, and generally expensive pizza and alternatives in town! Generally we have to pick up because at the time there was no delivery, however, it was always worth it!!!!! Pros: excellent taste, done on time, always hot Cons: small restaurant, can't deliver more

Dive or not.. BEST pizza in the Cities 11/27/2002

Been enjoying Savoy's since I was a kid. My dad used to pick up pizzas on the way home from work at the 3M east side plant and feed the whole family. The semi-spicy sauce and crispy crust is what makes this pizza. My buddies and I would always joke that the pizza was always the best on the busiest nights, because the cigarette smoke would some how permiate into the pizza sauce giving it extra ""bite"". Even try one (a pizza) with Sauerkraut, I did and I was pleasantly surpised!!! Whenever I come back to the Cities I always have to get some Savoy's! Too bad the CitySearch editorial staff are too uptight to give Savoy's the credit it deserves... The Audience Pick of Red's Savoy Inn rules! Pros: inexpensive, common folk crowds, the sauce Cons: no delivery more

great pizza 11/27/2002

We prefer thin crust pizza with a good sauce and loaded with cheese and toppings. If top quality ingediants are used, then the flavor mix is good and the pizza is not grease, such as Red's Savoy Inn and Pizza. The price is very reasonable too. Great for a pizza and a beer. Pros: great for pizza/beer, sports on TV, no frills, friendly Cons: although it kids are, taken there, I would, perfer they weren't more

Great Pizza 11/27/2002

The pizza's are great! You feel at home and never feel under dressed. more

Nobody but Savoy's makes pizza better. 11/27/2002

Do you love sausage? Well no place on earth is the taste of sausage make your mouth just seem to water than at Red's Savoy Inn and Pizza. The cheese is unique and delicious. The sauce and crust can only be tasted at this one restaurant that my husband and I go to everytime we are in St. Paul. Nobody can deny that this is the place for anyone who loves pizza. It's a recipe that cannot be found anywhere else. more

Horrible Pizza 11/27/2002

This has to be the worst pizza I have ever eaten. Being a native New Yorker and loving pizza, I can say that it is the worst! Bitter sauce which produces heartburn immediately. No true Italian taste! Cons: Smoke Filled more

Probably the best pizza in town 11/18/2002

Savoy is a hole in the wall place with panelled walls. Nothing fancy but the pizza is pretty tasty. Probably the best in town since most places serve frozen already made pizzas. The cheese is the real stuff and very tasty sausage and sauce. I'm from Chicago and I am still looking for the best pizza in MPLS, which is hard to do cuz no one can make it like they do in Chicago. Pros: Tasty pizza, service is A+, casual atmosphere Cons: hole in the wall, lines can get long more

yum, Mamma mia 11/9/2002

Simply the best pizza in town. Lots of great cheese, perfect crust, sauce loaded with excellent flavor and top quality toppings. They also have a newer carryout location on White Bear and 3rd St. Crusts there seem slightly underdone, but overall still very good. Pros: great pizza, handy location Cons: long wait, parking limited more

Extra sauce a must 11/9/2002

The best pizza I've ever had. The Savoy Special with extra sauce (a must). The thin crust, homemade sauce, & sausage are their keys to a perfect pizza. The long wait and poor parking are more than worth it. I've been there over 20+ times, (going tonight in fact), & have never been dissapointed. Every time I bring someone new there they also agree with me, simply the best!!! Pros: Great food Cons: Parking more

Pizza to Die For 11/6/2002

I always used to think pizza was pizza, some better than others, but still not much difference. Then I was introduced to Red's Savoy and wow!! what a great tasting pizza. Their hot dagos are also to die for! Pros: excellent food, inexpensive Cons: small, long wait more

No matter where you travel... 10/31/2002

Hi, My husband and I used to stop at the Savoy after a movie when we were dating 33 years ago. We moved away from St. Paul right after we were married but have come home often thru the years and as often as we can we get to the Savoy for pizza - best we have ever found anywhere. We have raised 3 kids and tho they lived in Philadelphia, Connecticut, St. Louis, Washington DC, Chicago and even Melbourne Australia, they all say Savoy's is the best pizza! more

The Tastiest Pizza in Town 10/31/2002

Savoy's has the greatest pizza that I have ever tasted. I used to live a few block's from the Savoy's (near the 52) but now I live in San Diego and it's hard to find a good pizza place here. I highly recommend Savoy's for their great spicy saucy, cheesy flavorful pizzas. I have yet to come across a pizza joint that is comparable to their pizzas. I give them 10+ across the board. more
