I've been here multiple times. Work would often treat us to lunch here. I never failed to get heartburn after a savoy pizza. Something in the sauce is a little spicier or diffe...

Passion for Pizza 5/5/2005

My young adult grandson moved to Los Angeles a few months ago. When we chat with each other on the telephone, he says things are ok with him. He doesn't want to say he is lonely for us or that he is having any trouble adjusting to his new locale and lifestyle. But, he confesses that he hasn't found any pizza in Los Angeles that compares with the pizza at Red's Savoy Inn. So, there you have it. He doesn't miss his grandfather but he misses pizza at the Savoy. more

Best Pizza in a long time! 4/27/2005

I recently was in St. Paul visiting some friends and they took me here. When you first walk in it was like ""oh where are they taking me?"" the place looked old and outdated. Dark lighting, old 60's and 70's style decor. Once the pizza came out it was like WOW! this is THE best pizza I have had in ANY city in a long time! wish there were more places like this around. Pros: The Pizza, the Pizza, The Pizza Cons: Parking, lighting more

Yes, I'm a pizza snob! 4/26/2005

Having grown up in a small Western Wisconsin town, my father worked close to the Savoy on Arcade Street. At least 2 times per month we were treated to the Savoy. In the past 30 years the atmosphere of the restaurant has virtually unchanged as well as the fantastic pizza! Now that I'm a parent myself my children have also turned into ""pizza snobs."" If pizza is what we're hungry for, that's where we go-the Savoy! more

Poor service 2/2/2005

My company called to see if they could accomodate several groups of people (20 people total) to be seated at different tables the following evening, and the woman on the phone was very rude, telling us that they are busy, and did not have time to deal with us. We have a large group that goes to dinner each week, and they will not be receiving our business. Cons: rude!! more

special place 12/20/2004

Red's is the best! This is ""Neighborhood"" ambience. No frills, good All- American/Italian food, good-old-boy Americana all the way. Great food, great prices and great wait-staff. If you""re the ""upper-crust"" personality-type, this restaurant may be TOO level for you. This restaurant is like what the Juicy-Lucy is to Mpls. So if you're looking for the best ""Seinfeld"" kind of people, best pizza you'll ever taste, go to Red's SAVOY!! Even the mayor and the gov eat here!!! Pros: prices, taste, people more

Rude 9/9/2004

I called for a pizza pick up. Because the woman who answered the phone wasted time being sarcastic and patronizing rather than taking my order, we never got the pizza. Cons: , sarcastic more

Red's Service 7/6/2004

Two words HORRIBLE. SERVICE. Our waitress left us sitting there for 15 minutes while she argued first with a customer then the manager, then finally delivered us menus. When she finally did come to take our order she was rude and rushed. She never came back to freshen our drinks and the pizza while it was good TOOK FOREVER to get. I would go back for the pizza but would avoid her section or move if I ended up with her again. more

THE best Pizza - PERIOD 6/3/2004

I ate my first Savoy pizza when I was 5 years old. That was 1971! When I joined the Air Force I had to go away to New York for 4 years. You would think a pizza junky could get a good fix in New York, right? Nope! When I got out of ther Air Force in 1989 I drove 24 straight hours home, pulled into the Savoy and got me a large Supreme and then drove home! It's all I ever order, and ordering just a Pepperoni would not do it justice. That pizza is worth a 24 hour drive. Amen! Thank you Father for Red's Savoy Inn! more

OHMYGOD Pizza! 5/13/2004

What a find this place is! We were looking for a new haunt, & decided to go with Red's based on all the raves from Citysearch. Man were we shocked! Here we thought we were walking into a dive, but it turned out to be Pizza Heaven! This is, without a doubt, the MOST delicious, filling, AWESOME pizza I've ever had. I've also had the spagetti, which is just as tasty. It does get quite crowded on the weekends during peak time, so plan accordingly. But if you're looking for a Pizza Out of Body Experience, this is the place! Pros: PIZZA!, Service, Value Cons: , No Parking!, No waiting area more

World Peace 5/12/2004

I'm not proud of it,but I do consider myself a pizza expert! I just returned from 3 months in Paris, and even though they won't admit it,they eat plenty of pizza there! They laugh at Americas reputation for eating pizza and can't seem to understand it. It's no wonder as they have nothing remotely as good as Savoy's there! If I won a million dollars, I'd move to France and open a Savoys Pizza! There is no doubt in my mind they would understand us then!!! IN THE NAME OF INTERNATIONAL PEACE!!!!!! I must show them GREAT pizza!! Pros: Ambiance, Cheese, Cocktails more

Ms 3/2/2004

This place has been consistantly wonderful for over 30 years. The food and service are always top notch. Although it's the best pizza in the Twin Cities, all the other food is wonderful too. From the Italian fare to your steak and baked potato, you simply cannot go wrong. It's also a great place to bring the family. The seating is ample at off-peak times and they allow the kids to be kids. You just gotta try this place! Pros: inexpensive, consistantly great, PIZZA more

incredible 2/5/2004

It's simply the best, real pizza in the twin cities - not one bit prissy. They concentrate on flavor and toppings over everything else. more

Best Pizza 12/11/2003

I live 45 minutes away and I don't mind at all to go pick up a pizza from Savoy's. Growing up, my family would go every Friday night for their pizza. I've been getting pizza from Red's for over 25 years. It's the best I've ever had. They load up on the toppings and the crust is crisp and chewy at the same time. Delicious!! Pros: Great servers, Great Bartenders, Inexpensive Cons: Smokey, Cramped, Crowded more

Savoy's is great! 12/11/2003

I love the fact that it's so laid back that you can sit back and undo the button on your pants so you can enjoy more of their fabulous food. more

The best pizza in the twin cities 12/2/2003

Great pizza, thin crust LOTS of toppings. It's a ""joint"" and the decor is not much, but the pizza is perfect. Pros: friendly staff, unpretentious Cons: smokey in the bar, crowded more

Best in Town! Best in Show! 10/23/2003

I have cooked Italian food since my mama brought me into the kitchen as a kid. I worked in a pizza joint for over 15 years and thought my pizza was the best pie in town I still do think its the best when I try other places. But the only other pie that can beat mine or is equal to it is the pizza at Savoy's the sauce is great the flavor of the sasuage is great over all it is a ***** Five Star Pizza! Pros: Pizza, Cheese Bread, Inexpensive Cons: Parking, When the Wild play more

Red's Savoy Pizza 10/19/2003

Well, I'm only 13, but I have eatin there many times with my family, and the pizza is really good. They make it in barley no time at all. Pros: Inexpensive, Good food Cons: Crowded, Smoking more

Excellent 10/10/2003

I've dined here on many occasions and always had the best pizza around. Excellent sauce, loads of meat & cheese, crispy crust, it's a wonderful all around pizza. I'm also a fan of Cossetta's but they offer two very different pizzas. The ambiance isn't anything spectacular, but I personnaly think it adds to the experience. The parking situation can be a bit hard to come by sometimes. Pros: Excellent food, Friendly service Cons: Parking more

Good stuff!!!!! 9/26/2003

Best pizza in the Twin Cities. The food speaks for itself. Don't go looking for ambience, or a romantic evening, but the best pizza around!!!!! Pros: best pizza Cons: parking, beer selection more

It is the best pizza in town 9/4/2003

The atmosphere is a throwback to the 60's when families could afford to go out for dinner. If you don't care for pizza, their other Italian dishes are wonderful. And if you love a good pizza pie, this place is the best. My brother insists on going there everytime he comes to town. more
