The pizza is the best. The owner is a smart and fair guy..not racist..an American through and through. I've been going in there since the 60's. great place! If you can't handle it go someplace with bad pizza and PC people. more

Horrible service - Only go here if you enjoy waiting. 1/13/2012

My friends and I decided to try this restaurant for lunch on a Sunday while shopping in St. Paul. We were quickly seated so that we could wait . . . for 10 minutes before a waitress finally gave us menus. She took our order and we waited. 4 other tables were seated, placed their order, and received food. We waited. Finally we had to ask why we didn't have our soda or appetizers yet? The waitress just turned and walked away. We got the pitcher of Coke we ordered 30 minutes later! HOORAY! Why didn't we get our appetizer? She accused us of lying about getting our appetizer already, turned and walked away. 10 minutes later, while we contemplated throwing down $5 for the Coke and walking out, our pizza arrived and she brought us our appetizers. The food was okay, nothing worth the rude service and 40 minutes of waiting for drinks. Then we waited. Another waitress, noticing we were sitting there for 15 minutes with empty plates asked if we had our bill, God bless her. Then we waited. I finally went up to the front desk to pay and the rude woman up there told us we have to pay at our table, I refused to go back and demanded she run our bill. I have never had such horrid service from a restaurant before. WE WILL NEVER GO TO THIS PIZZERIA AGAIN! more

What happened to Red's???? 10/28/2011

A celebration lunch was the order of the day and how better to celebrate than with Savoy's Pizzas? The five pizzas ($70.00+) were picked up at the 7th Street location and ready to serve. To everyone's dismay they changed the crust!!! How can this happen? The beloved cracker thin crisp crust was replaced with doughy thick soft crust! The crusts tasted like prepackaged grocery store crusts. I called and asked why they change the crusts? I was told they had changed but went back to the hand rolled crust (yea right). What a disappointment and what a loss of an eastside icon. I guess I need to find somewhere else to spend my celebration pizza dollars. more

HEY IF You don't like his jokes, then eat somewhere else! That's why he doesn't go to your place! Some of the best pizza and chicken in town. The Pizza delivered in suburbs too! more

Eat in, don't get it delivered 7/22/2011

This place has great food - pizza, wings, everything you expect from a pizzaria - but it's not your average Papa Johns. Fresh sauce, toppings, and dough means that the flavor isn't what you get from a chain store or a frozen pizza, the flavor has lots of tomato and spice to it. It doesn't hold up to delivery well and I would guess they don't have very many drivers because it takes awhile, but if you're in the mood for great pizza it's worth sitting in the restaurant to enjoy more

Why is the owner a racist? 3/25/2011

Hi there, I'm not sure if other people have written in about this but at the Savoy on West 7th - a place my husband and I have loved to go - their owner (against the wishes of patrons and staff) has a racist ""joke"" hanging near the entrance that reads: I'm sick and tired about people asking me about my dog I realize he mauled: 1. 3 Muslims sitting on a rug next to my back wall. 2. 6 illegals wearing Obama t-shirts. 3. 4 Democrats wearing Pelosi t-shirts. 4. 2 Rappers 5. 5 phone operators who asked me to ""press #1"" for English. 6. 9 teenagers with their pants hanging down past the butt cracks. 7. 8 customer service desk people speaking broken English. 8. 10 flag burners. 9. A Pakistani taxi driver. For the last time... THE DOG IS NOT FOR SALE! This is very sad for the city of st paul, that one of its most loved restaurants, a place i (used to) send visitors to for a real authentic st paul experience - has this kind of hate/racist writing, hanging in their lobby! more

Savoys Pizza on County Road E in Vadnais Hights, MN 6/12/2010

I think this Savoy's is very slow and expensive. Never get the onion rings for delivery by the time they get to you they are nothing but mush. The pizza was burnt and it had the most strangest taste to it you couldnt even eat it. The mozarella sticks were cold. Pros: Good Cheese Bread Cons: Takes 45 minutes for delivery more

SLOW, BAD SERVICE, AND TERRIBLE CRUST 1/15/2010

Slow!! 1/4/2010

Worst service ever. So slow and not worth the wait! Pizza was fine, but nothing is worth over an hour wait at 5 pm on a Wednesday. And we even called ahead!! Won't come back. more

Best Pizza in St. Paul 12/23/2009

I moved to Florida 4 years ago and still can't find a pizza place I would go back to a second time. I have pizza 1/2 baked and frozen (20) at a time and have friends ship them to me, or bring them when they come down. I'm very popular with my in-laws when I get the pizza's from home, as they can't find any as good as Savoy's either. Pros: Toppings are generous and price is good Cons: Lack of parking more

They changed their pizza crust. 12/8/2009

I used to love their pizza but when we went there two weeks ago we ate the topping and not the crust because it tasted like cardboard. Pros: Loved the topping. Cons: The pizza crust tastes like cardboard. more

Amazing pizza, not such good service. 6/28/2009

I have always loved savoy's. it's by far my favorite pizza. My fiance had never been so we went out to eat there, we were initially told it would be a 45 min. wait for the pizza, which was fine because it was mother's day and busy. Our waitress took our drink and appetizers orders, it took 15 min. for our drinks to reach our table, a half an hour for our appetizers and an hour and a half for our pizza. our waitress wasn't checking on us, we could see her just inside the kitchen stuffing her face while we waited for our food(I was also pregnant at the time), i had to stop her for a drink refill. I have worked in many restaurants, and know how tipping goes, We didn't tip her too well, than we realized she was okay with that, because she took the HIGHEST amount of recommended gratuity out of our change. I love savoy's too much to not eat there, but i am never dining in again. Pros: love the spicy sauce and pizza Cons: staff and wait times. more

HORRIBLE experience! 6/15/2009

I recently dined in at the downtown St. Paul Savoy location to celebrate a friend's birthday. Being short on time, we looked online and called in our order. The food came quickly, but my hamburger literally had a pool of grease sitting on it when it came to me. The food was good, but our waitress never came back to the table to check on us until she gave us our check. When the check came, the prices in the store did not reflect the online prices, and when we questioned it (I pulled up the menu on my blackberry) they refused to even discuss the manner. The manager first claimed that they did not even have a website, which they clearly do and I was holding it in my hand on my blackberry so all she needed to do was look. She wouldn't even look, basically told me I was cheap for even having the nerve to tell her that the prices she was trying to charge me were not the prices stated in the online menu, and she ended up throwning a doller of her tip money at me and walking away, then very loudly complaining to everyone at the bar about our table. In addition to this horrible experience, this restaurant fired all of their union workers, and refuses to hire more because they do not want to pay people a fair wage. I'm certainly never going back. There are several other places in town where you can get good pizza! Pros: good pizza Cons: rude staff, poor service, hard to see more
