Great Experience From Start to Finish 3/7/2012

After reading some of these reviews from 2008, I decided to give my two cents about Prestige from a more recent perspective. A gentleman came to my door explaining that Prestige was going to be in the area for the next week taking care of customers of theirs who had Home Service Agreements. Intrigued, still listening, he mentioned that because they were going to be in the neighborhood, they were discounting all of their services considering the gas prices were high and now they are able to relay the savings back on to me. Since I had not maintained my unit in the past few years, I decided to schedule an appointment with his team. The technician came the very next day and right away he went to work. The technician was as professional as the young man at the door, and gave me proper explanation of my entire system as well as possible pitfalls in the future. After fixing my heat strips for free, I signed up for a 5 year maintenance agreement with them in order to keep my 10 year parts and labor warranty. I highly recommend Prestige Heating and Air and their door-to-door program! more

Home Service Agreements Are Great!!! 3/1/2012

I have been using Prestige for years now and I LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!!!! I've had there HSA or home service agreement for a while and they come clean my unit twice a year and my unit has been running great since i signed up for this im so glad they came up with an idea that actually saved me money in the end but not have my unit acting up allllll the time great job guys!!!! more

they started out good at first or at least i thought. i bought a mobile home whos outside unit was stolen . i called them out to price having a new ?condenser? (outside part) or having it so i didnt need the a-coil thing and having aoantry instead. well the guy convinced to getthe outside piece ( conveniently they had a new one at a cheaper price because the box was messed up) shame on me. i spent almost 4,000 dollars in the long run. i had to replace numerous parts because different pieces kept breaking ending up in me replaceing everything but the duct work piece by piece. the last visit is what has made me so enraged about them. a few months ago we had a huge storm and the way my breakers are set it didnt looked like on was tripped when i checked. so i called them to come see if something was messed up because i have replaced so many parts. i specifically asked the tech to see the problem and inform me what it was before any work was to be done. so as i was tending to my 2 year old he flips the breaker and charges me 186.00. i shouldve argued that one but i just paid it and will NEVER use or recommend them again. I work at the pawn shop so that alot of Badmouthing tobe done about them. i am a single parent who works full time and recieves na assistance so to pay 186.00 to filp a breaker really pisses me off. dont use these guys they nickle and dime over time. there is so much more i couldve done with my money then pay these jackholes almost 5000 dollars now. shame on me i guess. dont play the fool people. more

South Carolina's worst company! 5/16/2010

My AC broke so my warranty company sent Prestige out to fix it. They said a coil was leaking and needed to be replaced. The system had no coolant in it which was causing it to blow hot air. 19 days later they showed up with the part that brought with it a $235 coolant collection and disposal fee. The problem with the system was that it had no coolant to begin with! Less than 2 weeks later my AC again broke. Prestige would not honor their 30 day warranty on service because I was not a ""regular customer."" I instead was a ""warranty customer"" which I guess voids them from their own warranty? I had to pay a $95 overtime fee for them to show up on a Saturday. Then the tech informed me that the other coil was leaking and needed to be replaced. You mean to tell me they couldn't have figured that out when they replaced the first leak? Long story short, it's been over a week and still no word on my replacement coil. 90 degrees in my house and when I call to check on my part they say they can't help me because they are busy getting techs on the road. Outstanding customer service! And the new part also brings with it a $235 coolant collection fee! And if you try to get any answers from Patrick, you'll just end up more frustrated than when you started. Worst company I have ever had to deal with. Run and run fast and tell your warranty company to send someone else. The warranty companies have more than just one contractor so I recommend that you ensure prestige is not their representative. Cons: customer service, attitude, timeliness, etc. more

Customer service is a Joke (they will fleece their own mother ) 7/13/2008

It was one month from initial service call to time of completed service. They billed me for several ""new"" parts and used the old ones. They charge a 3% ""convenience fee"" for credit cards. I called them 4 times to correct this billing problem with no results. I went to their office to see if I could get it straightened out. To use a word in another review they were VERY "" confrontational."" I did some investigating and found out that they did not obtain the permit they charged me $250 for. They sent a Representative to my home to ""verify"" that used parts were used. I told him about the permit and he called the office and told them "" I knew they didn't get the permit."" He and I agreed on a bill about $650 cheaper. A few days later I came home from work to find a permit attached to my front door (8 days after work was completed). I called the company to see if the bill was still the same as what we had agreed upon and the dillwad in the office said I had to pay for the permit ($250). I called the permitting office and they told me Prestige got the permit that day for the amount 0f $47.50. This company is a JOKE from top to bottom!! Screw the customer for EVERY thin dime they can get. Cons: I may have to use the legal system to get this straight more

very bad business 6/17/2008

Not my choice to use these bozos. My home ins. co. has a contract with them. They finally (we've been waiting 18 days) installed a new water heater. Was charged $175 for an expansion tank that was not installed (required by code) when they installed the water heater and $25 for a local permit (doubt they even got one). Now , I'll have to make 'noise' for them to get the expansion tank and install it. Pros: they are local Cons: slow, slow, slow, slower, then they don't bring the repair items with them more

Don't trust Prestige with your home! Several years ago, they installed a gas furnace in my property. Prestige didn't keep the air intake duct separate from the gas supply line. There could have been a fire or explosion. When the gas company refused to turn on the gas for a new occupant, Prestige was notified. They did NOT rush to correct their error or even apologise for it. When I insisted that they correct the situation so the gas could be turned on safely, they said they would have to charge me for fixing their mistake. I got a bill for $455 for flashing around a return air duct. The labor was billed at $130 per hour. I plan to take them to court. Pros: A human answers the phone Cons: They don't stand behind their work more

Prestige Heating and air was a very dependable and curtious company. They kept in touch about the parts that they ordered. They made speedy and practical repairs. Most companies try and sell equipment instead of fixing the problem. I would highly recommend the use of this company. Its nice to deal with a family owned business that puts the people first and not the all mighty dollar. more

PRESTIGE IS THE WORST HEAT AND AIR COMPANY! 8/11/2007

Prestige is the worst company I have ever had to deal with. We have had air conditioning problems since April and it is now August. They have been to our home about 10 times and they can't fix my air conditioner! The people who work in the office are the most unprofessional people any company could hire. They will not return phone calls and then blame it on ""the new girl."" Their ""techs"" would come out, find a problem and tell us they would ""be back tomorrow."" Not only do they not show up, we never even get a courtesy call letting us know anything. We have been without our air conditioner for almost 2 weeks. During those 2 weeks, the temps outside have gone to 116 degrees and the temps in our house have been over 120! Why don't we just hire someone else? Well, we are renters and the owner has a home warranty company called American Home Shield (another company to stay away from). THEY hired them and we don't have a choice. Every time the ""techs"" come to my home, they seem to find a new problem and have to order a new part. I guess Prestige doesn't believe in overnighting anything. We are told when the parts will be in but getting someone to install them has been an ordeal. We are still waiting on the air we pay good money for each month. Whatever anyone does, don't hire Prestige. Ask around, they are a joke. We have since found this out from about 7 other people who have had the same problems. If you do hire them, I hope you have better luck than we have. I won't even give them 1 star but the website wants at least 1!!! more

communication trouble 6/1/2007

We had a hard time getting Prestige to return phone calls. They were feferred to us by our home warranty company. We had to do all the phone work between the warranty co, Prestige and even the factory that had the part we needed. The quality of work so far is fine- we'll see- we just needed some more communication, as it was 2 mos. between our first evaluation and the repair. more
