Philadelphia Animal Hospital

I recently moved to the city with my dog and didn't know where to take him, after all, we loved our old vet. I used this website to check out a few hospitals and found this one, and our vet Dr. Rebbecchi to be the best fit. Not only was he very compassionate towards my animal, he also really seemed to understand the daily struggles of the working class man....he wasn't snooty like so many other doctors seem to be and he explained everything in great detail. This is by far the best hospital in the city and my dog and I have found a new home! Pros: null Cons: null more

I came to the Philadelphia Animal Hospital 6 years ago on a whim after disagreeing with my vet at the time over the course of treatment for my yorkie's recurrent UTIs. I was lucky enough to get Dr. Chapman as the vet for my first visit! Within minutes of the start of the exam, he was able to diagnose the problem, identify the source of the issue, and offer an appropriate solution that corrected the problem! Over the years, Dr. Chapman has provided nothing but the best care to my dogs. A very friendly vet who's highly knowledgeable, compassionate, caring and always willing to answer questions and address any concerns you may have. And unlike other vets that I've used in the past, he does not exhibit an attitude of arrogance that accompanied others. He is by far the best vet in the area! I would like to commend Dr. Kipp Chapman for his professional and compassionate services rendered to all of my pets. If not for Dr. Chapman, my cat, whom I had taken to a nearby vet, would have died. I rushed her to The Philadelphia Animal Hospital after she started becoming worse, Dr. Chapman diagnosed her with Diabetes with a blood sugar level over 400, where as the previous vet diagnosed her with being overweight and stuck me with expensive can food that she refused to eat, as well as the Feral Cats. On more than one occasion, I have raced cats, my own and strays, and received nothing but professional and compassionate services from the Vets and the Young ladies. I love both vets, but always try to get an appointment with Dr. Chapman. I trust him with my pets lives and wish he could treat people as well. Pros: null Cons: null more

I just had to write this review on Dr Chapman. He's the most knowledgable & concerned vet I know..and i did know a few until we came across Dr Kipp Chapman at the phila animal hosp. He is always there for my pets and i have many of them. Starting with my english mastiff that was MISDIAGNOSED by ANOTHER nearby CLINIC a year ago..so i called dr chapman when i noticed after a couple a days passed and my dog was getting worst..i explained to him her symptoms he told me since she was not spayed that she could have an uterus infection.i my dog to dr chapman at phila animal hospital the next day he did xrays and thats exactly what it was. he did the surgery and my dog is still with us now and healthy as she can be at her age..Dr Chapman saved my dog life. he brings the meds to me that i need for pets when needed..i have recommended dr chapman to many of my friends and they always give him his props.. i myself have learned alot about my cats and dogs from what dr chapman has told me..the staff at the clinic is very friendly & helpful too..Ive learned if you want the great service sometimes it will cost just a little more..Chapman has never failed us or my pets ..LIKE I SAID HE IS THE BEST Pros: null Cons: null more

I really wanted to come and write a review about my experience at the Philadelphia Animal Hospital. I had been using a vet near my home for my golden retriever Zoey for a few years, but with the economy the way that it is, keeping up with her bills and all of the medicine she would need from the vet was starting to get trying. While I was at the dog park I started up a conversation with a woman who also had a golden retriever and over our bonding we started talking about our vets. She told me she could appreciate my situation and so recommended Dr. Larry Rebbecchi. She said he was fair and compassionate, and I figured I'd make Zoey's next appointment at the Philadelphia Animal Hospital and give him a shot. Sure enough, my friendly neighbor from the dog park was right. Not only was Dr. Rebbecchi fair, he was so knowledgeable. He made a real effort to get to know me, but more importantly he made a real effort to get to know my Zoey. I felt so comfortable with the knowledge that my dog would get all the care she needed, without the heavy burden of hundreds and hundreds of dollars in bills. I really recommend this doctor to anyone who is looking for compassionate care for their animal, and a fair price to top it off! more

Ever since I've been coming to the Philadelphia Animal Hospital, I've had nothing but positive experiences. Dr. Rebbecchi has always been so compassionate with my animals. I've been brining my animals here ever since my very first cat, and when she passed on, I brought my next cat to him as well. He was never short with me or made me feel rushed for his time and was always sincere. He gave my both my animals and me very special attention - he is very personable through every examination. more

Yes, the appointments would be stacked and I'd have to make appointments many weeks in advanced, but when he opened up the office to 7 days a week a few years ago, it helped me a lot, as I'm sure it helped his other patients. This just went to show what a great vet he is! Of course, every pet owner runs into emergencies and I'd have to come in unexpectedly from time to time. If Dr. Rebbecchi wasnt available, I saw Dr. Chapman who was always very accommodating. My babies never recieved anything but top of the line care. Dr. Rebbecchi is so knowledgeable in his treatments, it was impossible to leave feeling anything other than satisfied that my cats were healthy and in tip top shape! If your pets are a part of you, like mine have always been a part of me, you'll never find a lack of TLC from Dr. Rebbecchi or anyone at the Philadelphia Animal Hospital. more

This is a good place to go for a routine appointment, i.e. vaccinations, annual check up If you can't get Rebecchi and have an urgent matter to address, FIND ANOTHER VET HOSPITAL! Dr. Kipp Chapman is the most incompetent vet I have ever used, and I've used MANY because I foster for the local shelter! He diagnosed my IBD cat with a respiratory infection, refused to listen to me telling him she had IBD and an IBD flare-up, and made the flare-up 5x worse. I went to my regular vet the next day and she could not believe the medications he had given me -- EXTREMELY powerful and strong antibiotics that are to be used in cases of extreme bacterial illness (such as pneumnia). ANYONE that knows anything about cats with IBD knows that they have very sensitive tummies, and powerful antibiotics only work to exacerbate the problem of an inflamed GI tract. Another foster parent I spoke to had a similar misdiagnosis experience. I just don't get how you can mix-up a respiratory infection with a GI illness, espeically when the patient's guardian is telling you the animal has a condition with hallmark symptoms! I came into PAH once when I had a cat's condition crash. He had terminal cancer for months and went downhill quickly, so I went to PAH as they are much closer than my regular vet. Unfortunately I had Dr. Chapman. It was my first experience ever having to euthanize a pet -- not a single thing was explained to me, Dr. Chapman gave the initial sedative which knocked my cat out in seconds. I was not prepared for how quickly it happened and was angry that I was not given a quick run-down of what would happen and what to expect. EVERY VET SHOULD KNOW ENOUGH TO DO THAT! When the final drug was given, I was of course an emotional wreck as most would be. I was sobbing. Dr. Chapman did not say ONE WORD to me the entire procedure! There was no empathy, no sympathy, no compassion. Not only did he not explain the process, he also never even told me "I'm sorry for your loss". Isn't that common decency? He came in, gave the sedative, left for 5 minutes, came in gave the euth drug, and left for good. All without saying a single word Pros: -Dr. Rebecchi -Same day appointments -Cheap routine appointments Cons: -Dr. Chapman doesn't seem to know anything about cats (nor does he seem to care much about them or their guardians) -Front desk always tries to book you with Dr. Chapman -Even with an appointment, you may wait up to an hour -You wait for a lonnnng time, and get only a minute or two with an actual vet (unless it's Rebecchi) -"Appointment fee" is cheap, but bloodwork, x-rays, ultrasounds, etc. are all MUCH more expensive here than at other vet offices. If it isn't routine, I'd reccomend another vet office! Even if it is routine, I wouldn't trust Dr. Chapman! more

He has a sensitive spirit and has always listened to all my concerns about my dogs and genuinely cares. He is very knowledgable about his craft and is incredibly intuitive. He has helped me with everything from pain management to skin conditions in my dogs. All in all he is an absolutely stellar veterinarian! I'm so lucky to have found him! He is the BEST!!!! more

He is thoughtful, kind, patient, knowledgable and great with chronic conditions, which I have found other vets misdiagnose and propose expensive treatment plans that are presented as the only option. Dr. Rebbecchi will review all the treatment options with you and take the time to discuss the pros and cons of each. He is the best! Also great with skin conditions!! more

She was extremely polite and very gentle. While I haven't received care from them, I may try them. I asked if she could direct me to another hospital.
