Bad 2/5/2005

This place was a major dissapointment. After waiting five minutes to find someone to show us to a table, we waited another 10 for a waiter. After giving an order, another waiter came over and said that she just switched to our table and we would have to re-order. While she was very nice, the service was generally sloppy (poured water in my wine, incorrect order, long waits). The food itself was no better. The calamari was painfully bland and the fish (both tuna and bass) were saltier than the sea. It didn't help that the crowd like a bunch of tourists who couldn't find a better place to eat. Pros: Easy to get reservatn Cons: Poor service, Bland food, Wierd decor more

Very Good Indeed 12/13/2004

I have dined at Patou several times, each time I have have enjoyed it immensely. Decor is very different for Philadelphia, from the notable abstract art on the walls, to the wide open space of the dining room. Each time the food has been wonderful, well prepared with excellent flavor. You can also find dishes that are not found easily elswhere such as the rabbit, quail, and froglegs. The wine list is french and selected to compliment the menu. Service is friendly, prompt but not overly doting. It is nice to be left to dine in peace with my companions without having to listen to a hard sell pitch of every item on the menu and every liquor in the bar. The atmosphere and attitude is european, and the overall character of the place seems ""casually elegant"". Pros: food, wine list, ambiance more

LOVED IT ! 11/7/2004

PATOU is just the place to be. You feel like you are on vacations .. The food is great and offers specialty items such as bone marrow, rabbit stew, frog legs ... and a great cheese selection. I can only recommend PATOU to all my friends. Great place for business dinners, and I am sure that throwing a party at Patou would be a success. Thanks for offering such a good experience! Pros: Food, Decor, Music more

ABSOLUTELY GO TO THIS PLACE 10/6/2004

Go to Patou. The place is beautiful, nothing like it in Philly. Upon arrival, we were offered our table promptly, instead we first had a drink at the bar where my girlfriend had "" the best appletini of her life"". When ready, we were seated by an attentive hostess. Food was A+. Especially notable, trout ceviche and wild mushroom appetizers, spice dusted tuna with watermelon salad and stone roasted whole red snapper entrees, lavander panacotta and fig desserts. Even the chicken, something I don't usually find exciting, was hot off the rotisserie, juicy, with enough flavor to make you forget its ""just chicken"". Portions are generous. Wine list, very nice, mostly french, reasonably priced. Average cost for three course meal, a very reasonable $38. I dine all over Philly and New York, Patou is where I'm bringing my New York guests. It's stylish, sophisticated, great food and no attitude. Pros: Food, Service, Style more

Avoid This Place 9/8/2004

No one was at the door to greet me, I waited several minutes. I then stood by the booth near the dining room and waited a few minutes...no one came. Finally, the bartender asked me could he help me. I responded I would like to eat lunch. Then a waiter asked me could he help me and I told him I would like lunch. He went to get the hostess. When she arrived she asked me could she help me. Do all customer get questioned as if they are not there to eat? I then had the mushroom bisque which had too much garlic. And my Turkey club was really a sandwich with dry Turkey (tasted like moist paper) and sad small pieces of lettuce and tomato. I also had to wait a while for my sandwich although the place was empty. I wish I had just went to Cosi. Pros: decor Cons: , service more

1 Very Good - 3 OK to Good 9/7/2004

For a meal costing around $126 per couple (with tip) you would hope dinner would be tending more towards the very good than just ok to good but thats what the 4 of us found last Saturday night. The winners of the night were the potato leek soup garnished with smoked salmon and caviar, and the basil pesto marinated swordfish over cocoa beans and roasted cherry tomatoes. The sauteed frogs legs with white wine and parsley butter, as well as the wild mushroom soup were good. The diver scallops over short ribs was a combination that, to our taste, just didnt work and the roasted chicken entree was dry. With so many other places in Philly, we wont be rushing back. Cons: , Atmosphere more

Nice addition to Old City 4/5/2004

I had a chance to check out Patou with some friends from NYC, and we were all impressed. The mushroom appetizer and tuna entree were awesome, although the roast chicken was a bit dry. The wine list was small, but the Cotes de Bergerac that we had was excellent and a steal at $36. Will definitely return. Pros: Food, decor, Service more

Fabu Patou 1/22/2004

Wow! What a place! what a space! what food! Chef Patrice Rames has brought his acclaimed culinary talent, mixed it with the style of his native homeland, the French Riviera, and has given us the quintessential euro-chic dining experience. The food was fabulous, prepared before our eyes in a completely open kitchen, located center stage to the dining room. The staff was knowledgable and attentive. The crowd was modern, international, and stylish to the bone. Patou has raised the bar in Philadelphia, delivering the perfect mix of exceptional cusine and ambiance. Pros: Reasonably priced, Intelligent wine list, Ambiance Cons: Parking in Old City more

Patou is a welcome addition 1/13/2004

Welcome addition to Old City, it's nice to have a place that's not just a lounge. Can't wait to hang out especially during the daytime. The service and food were phenomenal-not just another place in Old City trying to be a martini lounge. It's refreshing to receive such good service. Pros: Food, Service, Price more
