Just had an awesome Valentine's dinner 2/13/2012

Just had an awesome Valentine's dinner with my husband. We both had the New York Steak w/peppercorn sauce, yum. The whole meal and the service were very good. We live in Hillsboro and it is nice to find a place close to home with affordable good food and service. Would recommend to my friends and will return. more

Delicious meal 8/11/2011

My daughter moved to Forest Grove a year ago and we have been trying to find a good meal, close by. Four of us went out this past Monday to Costco and stumbled upon OSG. I started with a fab long island ice tea and green salad with gorgonzola/parmesan cheese dressing that was to die for. I would love the recipe. My entre, stuffed salmon was done perfectly. I ended the evening with delicious strawberry cheese cake. My only criticism to this would be please use fresh strawberries. The restaurant was busy, about 730pm but we were served promptly with a smile. I will definitely be going back. more

Blatantly neglectful jerks 8/5/2011

We go there at 8:30pm for happy hour and sit down outside at one of the corner tables. As we are just sitting there, some other groups of people sit at the table next to us and in front of us. Finally, I get tired of waiting and no one has gotten served so I walk in an get the attention of a waitress and she follows me outside with menus. ""We will get someone to come clean the table right away"" was the last thing she said to us. No one came for quite a while. Finally a guy pops out and brings water to the table in front of us. We didn't get any nor did the table next to us. Then a waiter shows up and take the orders from the table in front of us that got water and the table next to us. We are ready to order and then he just goes inside?! What the hell! I'm wearing a bright red jacket and my friend is 6'4"". We wait some more. No one comes. So we left and went to the nearby New Seasons and grab some food, check out, and walk back right by our former seats and guess what? The menus are still there. No one came to our table after all that time. I am not happy about this experience. I had high hopes for this place since its so close to where I live. I don't know if any of us are going to give them a second chance. It also looks like a lot of the great reviews on here are planted. I wouldn't be surprised at all if that was the case. more

Best Experience Ever 6/21/2011

I was one here about a week ago looking at all of these reviews. I was a bit discouraged from the negative reviews. I'm on here today to tell my experience... I was recently engaged and both sides of the family were meeting for the first time. It was important for me to find a restaurant that everyone would enjoy. To save money, I got onto Restaurants dot com. The only steak house in our area was Orenco Station Grill. I called to make reservations and a gentleman named Blake answered. He told me he looked forward to seeing us there and that he guarantees an excellent experience. With that, my mind was at ease. When we got there, not only was the place beautiful, and relaxing. But the service and food was hands down, OUTSTANDING. When my brother went to pay, he for some reason thought that the coupon was already deducted from the tab, and that was that. When we got home my brother asked and i explained to him that we were suppose to give the coupon when checking out. When he called back, Blake not only apologized (wasn't even his fault, it was ours) but credited us the discount after leaving!!!!!!! It is amazing how one person and GREAT food can leave 2 big families VERY PLEASED. I would recommend this place to anyone! more

Worst First and Last Experience Ever! 6/6/2011

I was actually really excited to see a local restaurant on the website I purchased the gift certificate on. And willing to try a new place out. It was definetly an experience that left me the feeling I will never go back. It was low staffed only 1 person there that used foul language and inappropriate behavior. Talking bad about other customers to me. Once more staff came they waited my table 30 minutes later and had no idea what was on the menu or followed any of my simple requests. Never was offered water either. My muffin was burnt when it came out and the eggs were not cooked like I asked. It took ten minutes for syrup and butter to come after the food was on our table leaving the french toast my friend had cold. I would have been happier at Shari's or any where else. I do not recommend this place what so ever. Sorry to be so blunt but it was awful... What gets me the most I was there for 2.5 hours with only being 1 of 3 small groups there!! more

Didn't even eat. 5/28/2011

We had purchased a gift certificate from restaurants dot com and finally decided to try it out. It was my boyfriends birthday and he wanted steak. So we went. It looked nice inside and out, but that is where the love stops. We were seated, then we were ignored. People were served meals around us and they didn't even give us water. Not even a ""be right with you"" we waited 10 mins and decided to go to Stanford's instead. We still have our certificate to use, but I do not know if we want to take a chance on it again. more

The bar rocks!!!!! 4/29/2011

I have been coming to Orenco Grill long the six month. The service is outstanding. Stephanie the bartender is one of the best Bartender in the Beaverton and Hillsboro area. Friendly goes all out for the customer. Wait staff great.too. But when it come to the food very poor. The menu is way out of date. The chef should go back to cooking school. The food quality is very poor. From the new streak to the Burger. The best day come is when the chef is not cook. The price are high too. One person is killing this place. more

2nd times the Charm 1/13/2011

I have decided to update this review after going back to the Orenco Station Grill a 2nd time (which should be a good sign for them!). So two things first of all.... A: Not sure if they still have the banner ?Now under new management? (which frankly is never a good sign for me) but it's probably about time they removed it. B: The reviews on line were less then stunning, however, I'm just going to put it honestly. Cons: 1: Prices are a little on the dear side, but just a little. 2: The special? (blue cheese steak) sure wasn?t a prime steak, but it was flavorful and cooked the way I requested it. 3: On my previous visit the service was slow, very very slow. However this time (6pm on a Friday evening) it was quick, prompt and very friendly (other service was friendly too, but the speed made the difference!). 4: All in all the place seemed to have a better direction this time. The menu may have been a standard ?rush hour? menu perhaps, but I didn?t see a special of ?Dom Perinon with a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich? on the menu for $150 this time around (whoever thought of that idea needs their head examined). 5: Frozen Fries?.. for the prices, they could have had some fresh home cut fries? It requires little prep, and it just gives you more points than whipping out a bag of frozen fries. The Vegetables were hard? but tasted fantastic?.. and I actually appreciated that. It gave them texture and frankly enjoyed them as a side. 6: I don?t know if these were changes that were recently made, or if this is just a rush hour service, but I really did have a better experience this time around. So please, if the management is reading this, keep going in that direction! So would I go there again? Well??? Yes I would. The first time, my main complaints were the slow service, the lack of REAL ingredients ?fresh cut fries, real cream in the deserts? that sort of thing. The last two haven?t changed but at least the service was FAST this time around. They still need to work on their prices, either reduce them, or keep them the same, but put a little more effort into the food quality. As I stated before, there is huge potential for this place in this area, but they need to make sure they do it right to retain their customers. Otherwise people will either just eat at the Indian just up the road, or hop on the Max that?s 5 minutes walk away and go somewhere else. I feel the three stars out of five is on the button for this. Good food sure, but with a ""small"" bit of effort, they could easily get up to 4 stars. more

Good Food 1/3/2011

I was happy when I tried this place again after they had new management. It is walking distance from where we live so we were happy by the changes. The food is really good. The service was a little slow but we were in no hurry so it was ok. We will be going back more

Wont Be Back 12/11/2010

In the past, I have had a pretty pleasent experience at the Orenco Station Grill. I understood that there was live music tonight and I had out of town guests visiting and thought I would treat them to dinner there tonight. The restaraunt was very busy and the music was enjoyable but my server was awful and the food took a very long time. My server was sweating profusely and yelling orders at the other workers. I was afraid that some of his sweat may have dripped into our food. I was very embarrassed......yuck :( more

Sugary Chinese Chicken Salad 4/2/2010

I went to Orenco Grill for a working lunch. I have had a decent hamburger there in the past. I made the mistake of ordering the Chinese chicken salad. After I ate it I heard a different server describe the dressing to a customer as ""sugary"". I wish I had had that warning. It comes with a huge pile of shredded cabbage, a tiny amount of crunchy noodles and some decent steamed chicken. You have to pick through the cabbage to find the chicken; it could have used more noodles to balance out the textures and flavors. It does not have the subtle flavor mixture and healthy taste I look for in this salad. I expect a Chinese chicken salad to have sesame oil & seeds, coriander leaves and a mild-flavored dressing. Pros: good location for work lunch, nice views, fresh food Cons: carb-loaded salad more

What Happened to Orenco Station Grill??? 3/27/2010

Visited Orenco Station Grill with a friend for lunch, I suggested the place because the last time I was in for a burger, it was great and the soup was delicious, especially their clam chowder on Friday. However, this time, things have changed big time. I ordered the Chicken Tortilla Soup, if you can find any chicken in it, kudos to you. It was a cup of corn meal mush, no vegetables, no chicken and no flavor - yuck! :( I asked the waitress to take the stuff away and she suggested I try their beef vegetable soup, which I did. The beef was so old, I was afraid I would get ptomaine poisoning, and I sent it back. Finally took the Asian Chicken Salad which is a haystack of cabbage and a decent amount of chicken, but no flavor, not the gingery, lovely flavor it used to have. I was embarrassed that I suggested the place, will never do that again and will never go back. What a shame :( Pros: Friendly waitress, proximity Cons: Too old poor quality, cheap food at a very high price more

Price inconsistent with food quality 7/26/2009

My husband and I were both dissapointed by our first experience at Orenco Station Grill, which we tried because of the close proximity to our home. For the pricepoint of OSG's menu, one would expect the restaurant to use better quality ingredients. The food wasn't terrible, but definitely not impressive. In the future, we'll either drive a bit farther for a better sit-down meal, or go the Orenco New Seasons deli for a convenient, lower-cost option. Either way, the quality will be better and more in line with what we would expect to pay. Portland has too many other restaurants to settle. Pros: Close proximity to home, prompt service Cons: Overpriced menu, poor quality ingredients more

Loved it!! 3/10/2009

Everytime my friends and I go we are welcomed with great smiles and and prompt service. Bars always pact and all the regulars are so cool. Bottom line, absolutly loved it! If u havn't been u have to try their Chinese chicken salad. more

Too Many Chances 1/17/2009

I am sad to say that I agree with most of the negative experiences shared by others. I am sad to say I have been a frequent visitor, enjoying the French Dip (however overpriced) for a few months. I don't know what day of the week the bread for the sandwich arrives, but I can tell that sometimes it is stale when served. A few days ago my bread was masacred. I have no idea why it was missing the top layer of the loaf. Now I wonder whether it was foul play. Whether or not there are extra fries sitting around, you may wish to make a fresh batch; customers expect fresh food. Pros: Close to home Cons: Service, food, prices more

The server and bartender was Great! 12/6/2008

I went there last week and My server was a girl with accent i think her name was Rita or something like that she is the sweetest thing that i ever meet. very friendly and she made us feel like we are VIP... The food was great . Little to expensive but hey for something like that i dont care to pay even more! We moved to the bar and this Girl Sara was just another great experience. Funny, cute and this girl was knowing what she was doing! more

Ehhh.... 11/26/2008

We had just arrived for the dinner hours for our first time at Orenco Station Grill. We were seated promptly, but it took our server over 10 min. to arrive (that was after we both used the restroom, and it was not crowded at all). Our server was nice when he finally arrived, nothing special. Pros: French onion soup, ambience Cons: price more

Avoid 9/12/2008

Very unimpressive food and characters that visit the location. Last time I was there, I met an x-convict who was a bar-fly with a frontal labotomy named ""Gino"" (wouldn't give last name), but he visits from out of state, Denver, and this is his hangout. Also, when I've been in the restaurant, the owner is always having an open bottle of wine with a buddy and drinking it in his restaurant during business hours....not a real good impression. more

Fix these problems!!! 8/28/2008

I can't believe the owner could care less about what people really think of his establishment. These are the same problems he has had since he's opened several years ago. I would be soooo embarassed if I were him. he uses the cheapest ingredents. Spending a little more money for better ingredents goes along way. more

Ick! 7/8/2008

Plastic flowers on the tables, paper napkins, ""scratch recipe"" sauces from a bottle, bland food and cheap decor? I'm not sure but most Portlanders I know enjoy very good food and you definitely won't find it here. These folks saying it's outstanding don't get out of Hillsboro much. more

  • In Short
This restaurant is like a saloon crossed with a brasserie. Except for a brightly lit bar, the dining room is all dim lights and dark-wood booths. Steaks are the big draw here....
