Just had an awesome Valentine's dinner with my husband. We both had the New York Steak w/peppercorn sauce, yum. The whole meal and the service were very good. We live in Hillsboro...

I went to Orenco Grill for a working lunch. I have had a decent hamburger there in the past. I made the mistake of ordering the Chinese chicken salad. After I ate it I heard a dif...

Worst restaurant in the Hillsboro/Portland area. 12/5/2006

I had lunch today 12/05/06 at the Orenco Grill. I will never go back. I ordered the French Dip sandwich and was amazed at what I received for the price. I received less than an ounce of meat on a hogie roll that was the size of a small hot dog bun. The meat portion was so sparce that I had to physically spread it out on the bread and then it barely covered the small hogie roll. I also had a side salad and the lettuce was wilted. I paid extra to substitute potatoe salad for a green salad. I have had better meals at half the price at Sherry's. The service was OK. I will never go back to the grill and I will tell others to avoid the place. Worst restaurant I have been to in the Portland area. I'm amazed they are still in business. Pros: Close to Intel Cons: Tiny portions not worth the price paid more

Why did I ever go here? 8/2/2006

I really wanted to give this place a try. I first tried to go to Orenco Grill in September 05, but after waiting several minutes at an empty restaurant with my wife, we decided to leave because no one would wait on us or even given us a glass of water at our table. Well, I have a streak of being stubborn and as we were driving by I suggested we go there for another try. The pork chop and the scallops were okay. Nothing to go ""wow"" over but it was adequate. The part that is plain awful is the service. My wife and I ordered two entrees with mediocre salads (see other reviewers comments), and as other tables received bread we were ignored. Our waitress never asked about our meals and it took her fifteen minutes to swipe our credit card through the machine. The one positive was the coffee that my wife received was in a French press, but they were so busy or just so clueless that they forgot to give her a spoon to mix the cream in her coffee. I am hoping things will either change or a new restaurant will replace the Orenco Grill. I would suggest the management team study the customer service at the New Seasons in Orenco. Pros: location, french press coffee Cons: Fake flowers-am I at a nursing home more

Visit Sara at the Bar 1/31/2006

If you're looking for a fun bar just to hang at, this is a good place. Locals, good bartender, decent food to snack on. more

We're goin' to Sizzler! 1/22/2006

I've given this place a couple of tries, and they have proven to be mediocre at best. Steaks (poor quality), Salads (iceberg), Service (unattentive) This place reminds me of Sizzler, what is this 1974? It's unfortunate that Orenco Staton, a regionally recognized development, doesn't offer a solid restaurant. I'm anxious to see new restaurants in the area once the development is complete. Until then, please remove steaks & chops from your signage. It's insulting & misleading! Pros: location, location, location Cons: expensive, mediocre food, badly executed menu more

Unspectacular, Overpriced 12/17/2005

The atmosphere is the only plus - dark wood, dimmed lights - perfect for an evening dinner. The cheap plastic flowers on the tables should have been an indicator of the dinner to come. The New York Strip was cheap, tough and greasy. The ""steak fries"" were soggy, cold and salty. Even the dinner salad was cheap iceburg lettuce drenched in dressing. Dinner was pricey for the quality - $18.99 for the 8oz New York Strip. I would not recommend this place for anything more than a glass of beer. more

Not great 6/23/2005

I think I found the experience of dining here somewhere between the Hades some describe it as and the Heaven others have found. Pros: No one died more

Where do I begin? 6/19/2005

Horrendous experience: 1) waitress was friendly but totally unsupervised with no training on the menu items 2) nachos should be renamed chili and cheese (Nothing Else) 3) salad quality - this is a grill, but they opted to lay batter fried chicken strips (the kind you can get the grocer and throw in the nuker) over the top 4) Chips on the side costs $10. 5) Bread is so stale and hard it crumbles into bits on the table. Food for the homeless maybe. Needless to say, I will not return unless the OSG is under different management, has better prices, and serves food that actually has flavor and pizazz. OPPORTUNITY LOST, I work right down the street and live nearby and was wishing that this was going to be my personal find to share with friends and family-- Until things change drastically, I will save myself the embarassment. Pros: Curb Appeal, Rm for Improvement, Could be nice Cons: Cheap quality, High Prices, Bad management more

Good Times 6/9/2005

GREAT staff, and my what an amazing stocked bar. I really enjoy the live music on the weekends. Changing up the artists is just what the doctor oredered. I enjoy the fact that the have a close staff w/ people employees that have worked their since they opened 5 years ago. That says a lot. Love their food, its always a for sure thing. Steak is yummy. Hmmm I getting hungry. Always want to sit at the bar to say hi to Sara. She is one of a kind and unbeatlable as a bartender. The whole staff does a great job, and I love their food creativity. No wonder we always go back for more. Cheers! Pros: GREAT Food, outside seating, consistance Cons: close early, not downtown more

Good People Good Food 5/27/2005

Been staying in Hillsboro for 6 weeks. Eaten at the Grill almost everyday. The Chef - Warren has gone out of his way to create new dishes. Did Warren have to do this? -no. He did it because he enjoys his work. My favorite meal is the ny strip. No masking sauce just butter and salt/pepper. My favorite dessert is the crème brulee. They fire up the propane torch and give their custard a classic crust. My favorite bar drink - The Mojito. Walk over to the New Season's Market and obtain some fresh mint. Provide same to Sarah at bar. The bar menu stands out. The bar burger, onion rings,fish/chips and the chicken fried steak are good. What sticks with me are the people. Decent folk who will go out of their way to make sure you are taken care of. Steve - the manager/owner is a Class Act! Pros: Good People, Good Food, Great Bar Cons: Limited Kitchen Size, Somewhat Pricey, Bar gets crowded more

Convenient Location 3/15/2005

My sister lives in Tanasbourne and we had lunch here a few days a go. I had a 2 for 1 coupon and enjoyed my burger. It had a nice ambiance and a cool looking bar. If you are in the area it is worth the stop. Pros: Ambiance, Location more

Awesome Place 5/7/2004

Orenco Station Grill is a great place for dinner with an extensive yet reasonably priced wine list. The menu is not overwhelming. They do a few things and do them very well. I love the whole little neighborhood and shoppes around there too! We were impressed with the service and how friendly everyone is there! Keep up the great work Steve! Pros: atmosphere, service, location more

Poor, poor service 3/14/2004

Limited dinner menu. No vegetarian options. Requested a vegetarian substitute from waitress and she said if the chef wasn't busy they would find ""something."" The food was average and highly overpriced. Poor service. Waitress knew we were unhappy about our experience and badgered us for 5 minutes about how she wanted us to come back. Will never, never, never go back. We paid $47 for a meal that would have cost $18 at Applebees and was less satisfying. Pros: ambience Cons: , terrible service, limited selection more

waste of time 12/27/2003

We went to say bye to a friend that was moving and we send him away in poor fashion. The food was horrible and too salty. The service was worse then the golden arches. For the prices that they charge and the 18% gratuity they tack on for large groups the server should have atleast asked us how the food was.....maybe she new! Never going back again!!!! The scallops were booring and the steaks tasted like the old shoes. Pros: good bar Cons: expensive, poorly managed, bad food more

overrated 6/27/2003

There are FAR better restaurants in the Portland Metro area, don't waste your time or gas driving out here for dinner. The food is no better than a mediocre chain restaurant but is priced two to three times higher. Save some time- go to Wildwood, Jo's Bar or even your local Stanfords, and skip this place. Cons: overpriced, mediocre food more

Big Disappointment 3/22/2003

I was never given such a bad meal and charged so much as when I ate at Orenco Station Grill. I received a Rib eye that was over cooked and tough. My partner received her large salad...a big plate of iceberg lettuce...for $7. This place specializes in booze. I guess they expect anesthitized people to accept bad overpriced food. Pros: lot of booze Cons: imagination missing, overpriced, bad quality more

top ten?!? 1/6/2003

As I was checking out citysearch for some places to go on my 21st b-day, I was shocked to see this place on the list for top ten places to see and be seen. This is a boring, overpriced, middle-aged snooty rich person's restaurant with no pizzazz or any tid bit of fun or trendiness or creativity at all. I went there with my parents for dinner on a weekend and it was very overpriced. If you go, go for lunch and DO NOT try any dessert- we tried three and they were all bad. Pros: cozy booths, nice enough servers Cons: bad food, boring more

Stanford's, here we come! 12/12/2002

Not only were the employees very un-attentive, we didn't get served for 55 minutes. When they finally decided to serve us, it was too late & we left. Went back a second time, & they cooked my sandwich, but never made my friends salad, so my sandwich got cold. When they offered to remake it, we waited another 20 minutes to get our food. When we finally got it, I concluded I would have rather gone Applebee's or Stanfords. Pros: location Cons: Overpriced, Slow, Unattentive more

over-rated 11/17/2002

This place is way overpriced- service is sporadic and at times very clow and confused. more

Limited selection 10/7/2002

Great atmosephere, limited selection, below average service and only average steak quality. Not worth the price. more

hype for Hillsboro 9/12/2002

I've had lunch here several times and the service was good. The lunch menu was excessive' best to have a few item and excel at those. Give it a chance, the restaurant business is tough. It's not downtown PDX, and we don't want it to be. Sometimes the downtowners are way too full of themselves Pros: ambience, parking, location Cons: long menu more

  • In Short
This restaurant is like a saloon crossed with a brasserie. Except for a brightly lit bar, the dining room is all dim lights and dark-wood booths. Steaks are the big draw here....
