Best Bridal Boutique 9/8/2011

Do NOT MISS OUT ON THIS GREAT EXPERIENCE New York lace is exceptional. Stephanie was my consultant and she offered customer service that was second to none. She is truly a professional consultant. The building looked a little dingy Chicago-esque but do not be put off. Once you walk inside the store is bright, clean and beautiful. They have a great selection of gowns <$1000 and the sample dresses are in great condition. They also carry couture gowns. This was the first bridal salon I visited so I was not prepared to buy that day but much to my surprise, I did find ""MYdress."" THEY DO CARRY the Casablanca Couture line, which if you've been looking for it you know it's difficult to find. They were offering a special in August 2011 that included alterations in the purchase price of the dress. Prices standard pricing. Not over or under priced. The only reason why I did not buy from there is because I live in Chicago. I'm strongly considering flying back to buy from New York Lace because A) There is an extremely limited amount of Casablanca authorized retailers in Chicagoland that can sell the Couture line B) of the excellent shopping experience makes me want to come back. more

Best Bridal Shop Ever!!! 10/11/2010

The customer service at this shop is, hands down, the best ever!!. To make a long story short, my daughter had bought a wedding gown at another shop and the last fitting was a nighmare. In less than 10 days before the wedding the staff at NY Lace helped to pick my daughter's dream gown (off the rack) ,perfectly fit it \r and was ready to go in less than 5 business days!! My daugter was ecstatic! I bought my gown here as well, months before, and thought they were exceptional. Faustina is outstanding at what she does and helped to make my daughter's wedding day the best that it could be! I'm not sure where others shop but the prices here are fair and considering the service, I think it was a bargain. Thank you Faustina and the NY Lace staff!! I can't say enough.... more

Nice Place/Knowledgable Staff 12/23/2009

I called to make an appointment and they were booked for a while. With the excitement of my recent engagement I was a little dissapointed that I had to wait for an appointment but the wait was definatley worth the one-on one personal attention I recieved. They had a wide selection of bridal gowns in my price range and it was refreshing to be helped by a friendly and knowledgable staff. Pros: Wide selection of bridal gowns Cons: They book up fast! So schedule an appointment in advance more

Do not waste your time 8/29/2009

I'm an attendant in an upcoming 2010 wedding and the bride chose her dresses to come from New York and Lace. The dresses are ridiculously overpriced, and I think a blind person would have been able to take better measurements. The dress is way too big on me, and now I have to pay an additional $220 just to have it altered to look decent for the actual wedding. I've never felt so rushed and treated so unprofessionally in all of my life. DO NOT GO HERE! Pros: Nice dresses Cons: Outrageously expensive more

Wildly overpriced 6/4/2008

Pretty place but WILDLY overpriced......they should be ashamed of themselves. You are better off going to Party Dress Express in Fall River-they will order you anything at a FRACTION of the cost...and NO I have no affiliation with them at all.\r \r New York Lace Store gouges you.... more

GREAT PLACE 4/1/2008

After reading all the bad reviews I did have reservations. I actually bought my prom dress from New York Lace a LONG time ago. Now that my daughter needed one I decided to shop there anyway. We were totally happy with the selection, service, and price. We went on a weekend which is a busy time and still received personal attention. I hope a few people whos expectations weren't met doesn't stop you from shopping there!!! more

Don't even bother. 11/27/2007

Went to NY Lace on Black Friday. The store was not busy at all. The customer service was great. Selection of dresses was not at all. Do not waste your time if you want to look at a huge range of dresses. Good Luck to Everyone! more

Great Experience! 11/12/2007

After reading several poor reviews from customers of the New York Lace Bridal Store I was skeptical about making an appointment. However, working in retail myself I realized that only unhappy customers would write about their experience and therefore tried my hand at the store. At my Saturday afternoon appointment I was greeted by several friendly associates. Although very nervous and overwhelmed with the process of picking ""the dress,"" my consultant assured me we would find the perfect dress for my special day. She took my views of how I would like to look on the special day and gave her own insight on what styles would flatter me. Getting both perspectives was a great help. She was patient and spent several hours helping me discover what styles I found most flattering on myself. After the first appointment, I had found two dresses that I loved and great insight on Bridesmaids colors and styles. I had appointments at a few other stores that same day and was not impressed with the service. A week later I returned and retried my two selections for my sister and mother. I purchased my dress and recieved free alterations with purchasing Bridesmaids dresses through New York Lace. I am now happily married! The day was gorgeous and all the dresses and accesories(veil/tiara:purchased at NYL) looked amazing. I look back at my experience and thank the consultants and seamstresses for a fun and relaxing experience. Pros: Costumer Service/Selection more

Awful....save your time & energy! 10/30/2007

For my October 2007 wedding I ordered my gown, my mothers gown, and my entire bridal party's gowns (15 dresses in all) from NY Lace. They were orginally very friendly and helpful. Once the orders were placed it was an entirely new story. First, they called to say my mothers gown had arrived. When we went to the store to see it, we realized they had never ordered the dress and tried to pass off the sample as a brand new gown. It was an $800 dress and the sample clearly showed wear & tear, but they insisted it was a new gown. I was living in Boston and spent my entire Saturday driving back and forth and found another boutique that carried the same dress and it was clear they had never ordered my mother a gown. Second, after we placed the order for my two flower girls' dresses, they called a week later to say it would be an additional $30 charge, per dress, in order for them to arrive on time. When we refused, they called a few days later to say the flower girl dresses would cost an additional $30 each for the ""custom"" color combinations we had chosen. We called around to other stores who both agreed we had more than enough time to order and my color combination was not a ""custom"" order. In the end, we received both dresses, well in advance. Each and every time I had to visit the store, I felt sick to my stomach. They ruined my bridal gown experience and I highly recommend not ordering from this store. The worst part, was the owner seemed so non-chalant about the whole thing. While she verbally apologized, it was hardly any consolation to all the drama I had to suffer through.\r \r Pros: Faustina was helpful Cons: The owner can't be bothered with any problems and/or issues. She is ""not there"" when she is actually sitting next door at the salon. more

The Bridal Shope From Hell!! 10/26/2007

I am originally from Bridgewater Ma. but now live in Orlando Fl. My mother who resides in Taunton was driving by New York Lace one day and saw a wedding dress in the the window. She flew me to Ma. a couple weeks later to try it on! It was the first dress that I tried on and knew it was the one! We bought the dress and shoes that day. I then picked out my bridesmaids dresses from there! Once my bridesmaids went in they were helped by Fustina who was extremly rude to all of them. A few of them had their dresses altered somewhere else because of the service. The next time I came for a fitting I had Foustina. She was extremly rude and acted like she did not have time for me. My mom had an appointment to pick up my dress and shoes the day she left for Florida for the wedding. She went in to pick them up and neither the dress or shoes were done!! There excuse was they forgot! My mom told them she was leaving for Florida that night and needed the dress and shoes done!! They told my mother to come back in three hours and they would be done! When she got there the shoes were wet and the wrong color but she had no choice but to take the dress and shoes. When she got to Florida I tried on my dress and I just started to cry!! They had only altered the left side on my dress and never touched the right! They right side was four inches longer than the right!! We called and went to every seemstress that was open in Orlando and nobody would touch it because of how messed up it was. Finally I found a friend of a friend who agreed to help. The wedding was the next day!! The woman who fixed my dress finished two hours before the wedding. Once my mother got back to Ma. she went to New York Lace and spoke to the owner. All the owner said was you cant expect everything to be perfect in a wedding! Cons: they are horrible! more

Well, I bought a great dress! 7/24/2007

About a year ago I went into New York Lace and was greeted by Stephanie who was exceptonally helpful and assisted me in picking out a gorgeous wedding dress. But this is where the charm at NY Lace ends. All other consultants from this point on rushed me and did not care to hear what my questions were. All of my friends, family, and co-workers were shocked and terrified every time I said New York Lace and now I know why. Just today when I came in for my first dress fitting only 40 days to my wedding with my mom behind me to get fitted for her outfit, the owner rudely announced she would not alter my mom's outfit due to the comment she left on this site about her poor encounter there (see the review prior to mine). I had not even reached the counter when she rudely announced this, and continued to throw a printed out version of my mother's review in my face, as if I a paying and faithful customer cares to see any bad review of her store and am responsible for my mother's freedom of speech which mind you is only a sequence of events. The unbelieable unprofessional, uncaring, lack of a grown business woman's attempt to even try to exhibit an inch of customer service was baffling to me. She was even unapologetic to how she treated me. As if my shock and disbelief were not enough this woman brought me to tears..needless to say my dress, un altered is in my pocession, to be brought to a professional seamstress along with my mother's outfit and helpful consumer resources have been contacted to inform them of the extremly poor and false services provided. My only hope is to help another bride avoid any encounter like this....stay clear. Pros: Stephanie Cons: TOO Many to list more

Don't Waste your time the service is terrible! 6/30/2007

I wanted to order an Alfred Angelo two piece that they did not have in stock. I placed the order , they measured me and insisted I needed a size I felt was to large but after all they do this all the time so ok I trusted them... Mistake number 2 ( number 1 was going there at all) .. Well the outfit came in I didn't even have to unzip it to try it on. Everything was to big. They said no problem they can alter it.. ( It needed to be at least 2 sizes smaller) of course at an additional expense and the pants where the wrong pants. I asked them to exchange it they said no.. I asked to speak to the owner she wasn't in said she would call me. Three days later she finally called and tried to say I should have requested a smaller size, I said you people are suppose to be the professionals I trusted you. She basicly said, to bad she wasn't going to exchange it or alter it for free or refund my money . So I am out my deposit and had to go somewhere else\r to order a new outfit with the wedding only 64 day. So save yourself the hasle don't go there.. \r Pros: There are none more

WARNING TO ALL BRIDES 6/8/2007

Horrible, horrible, horrible, that is how I would describe my experience with New York Lace. \r \r They try to get as much money out of you as possible, right from the beginning they tried to get me to pay an additional $150 rush cut fee that was not necessary, when I told them I refuse to pay it and would get the dress elsewhere, the story suddenly changed and the fee was not needed.\r \r The alterations that I needed totaled $175 at new york lace and other bridal stores quoted me $30 for the same work.\r \r THey charged me an additional $40 to pick up my already paid in full dress with no alterations and unpressed AND DIRTY\r \r They gave me a wrinkled, dirty gown and to top it off, the sales woman took the dress out of the bag to give me. I bought an $800 wedding dress from them and they wouldn't even give me my gown in a BAG!\r \r Horrible customer service. They do not care about making customers happy, they only care about how much money they can get out of brides.\r \r I told the sales woman how disappointed I was that they take advantage of brides, and her response was that brides need to learn how to budget! WORST STORE I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH more

Horrible customer service experience 4/28/2007

I waited an hour for my consultant, after making an appointment. When trying to talk about what I was looking for I was cut off mid-sentence. I was left multiple times waiting for her, after the initial one hour delay; after picking gowns to try on, I waited another 10 minutes for her to bring me to a dressing room. In the dressing room she left me waiting to be zipped up. I was left standing in front of the 3-way mirror in the show room, while she had a 10 minute conversation 20 feet away, with her back to me. The final desertion was mid-walk, on the way back to the dressing room from the show room. She noticed another woman walking out in a gown, forgot about me yet again (clamped in wedding dress), and preceded to ask her if she was a model, then exclaimed ?you look like a model.? \r \r You all can now see why I had to share this experience.\r \r Overall:\r Only 2 or 3 racks of wedding dresses in the show room, but there are more in the back. I was able to pick what I wanted to see after being guided there by the consultant. Selection was okay. I went there specifially for the designer Maggie Sottero (you can find her dresses many other places). All the wedding dresses were $900 and up that I saw. \r \r The lighting is terrible until you get in front of the show room mirrors. The interior design of the store could use an update or at least some fresh paint. \r \r It?s dissapointing to go to a place with these expensive dresses and have a cheap experience. more

HORRIBLE PLACE DO NOT GO HERE 3/11/2007

First off, we got lost and called to ask for help getting there...we said we had a 2:00 appointment and that we were on Washington street in taunton. They put us on hold for 5 minutes after which we hung up and stopped to ask someone else for directions.\r \r SEcond we get there and it took 15 minutes for someone who worked there to appear and we asked about our appointment. She said she would get our girl and be back.\r \r ANOTHER 15 minutes later our lady finally shows up and takes us to the dresses. I was shocked at how few they had. They also have this horrible ""rental"" program. DOn't be stupid, if there is something you want to try on just call other shops don't pay 200 dollars to have them borrow it for you to try on!!!!!!!\r \r She left us to pick a few dresses while she ""cleaned our dressing room up for me"" 20 mintues later we go looking for her and she is at a register ringing out a line of about 10 prom customers. Lets see, 200 dollar prom dress 1500 dollar wedding gown and possibly 6 200 dollar maids gowns... makes sense. NOW it was 3:00 and my mother and I left furiously but not without letting her have a piece of our minds. I wish I had those two hours of my life back. (hour of driving to and from)\r \r DO NOT GO HERE Pros: NOT A SINGLE ONE Cons: HOrrible place, terrible service not a good selection of dresses more

Great Selection 8/18/2005

This is where I bought my dress. I LOVED it there - however it can be CRAZY on Saturday and lots of Bridzilla's come out. They had a deal where if I bought my dress and the BM dresses I got my alterations free and the girls got a discount on their dress. It's much better to go during the week when it's not busy. Pros: Wide Selection, Big Store Cons: No Sat alterations, busy on Saturdays, pricey more
