Neerings Plumbing Heating Air & Electric

Horrible experience! This is the first review I have ever taken the time to write but my experience with Neering was so bad I felt obligated to take the time to register with Citysearch and save others the brain damage. I have several rental units that I manage and so I regularly use heating and plumbing service providers. This week I had a problem with a water heater and as my regular tech was booked I decided to give Neering a try. I won't ever make that mistake again. The tech spent a total of 45 minutes on the job. 15 of those minutes were spent by the tech browsing a pricing catalog to decide what to charge. The problem turned out simply to be an issue of airflow to the pilot light and the need to clean lint out of the air supply. There were no parts required. The total charge was $355. The service manager had indicated that the $85 diagnostic fee would be applied against the repair charges but when it came time to run my card the tech refused to do so. When I called Mike the service manager back to ask about the exorbitant pricing and the unwillingness to offset the diagnostic fee he explained that ""Neering has 75 years of overhead and experience and that they must charge all customers their fair-share of those costs regardless of what services were rendered or time was spent."" Unbelievable. Don't waste your time or money as Neering seems practiced and ambivalent about taking every advantage of the customer. more

I normally never write reviews, but had to this time.\r \r The service was great and they were professional, but DO NOT CALL THEM!!! Their prices are rediculous. We had a pipe freeze and called them to come fix it. 10 minutes was all it took and they charge $600. I have talked to several other companies that would have only charged $150 to do the same job. \r \r Please don't make the same mistake I did. DO NOT CALL THEM! more

OVER-PRICED. I joined CitySearch just to post this comment. This morning Neerings quoted $751 for a job that Hartman Plumbing just completed for $150. I am shocked that they would have charged us $600 more than another company. Just can't believe people still operate a business that way. When I read online that Neerings was over-priced, I thought maybe competitors just posted those reviews to hurt Neerings business. But now I know that those reviews were right. Neerings, you should be ashamed. more

STAY AWAY FROM NEERINGS!!!\r \r Very deceptive business practices!!\r \r NEERINGS ADVERTISES NO CHARGE to come out. Their website even says they DO NOT charge to come out. They arrive at my house and the electrician then says there is a diagnostic charge of $142.50 to look at the two problems I had. I asked him again if I paid the $142.50 charge would it include fixing the problem and he said YES. He looked at my electrical box and said I needed a new transformer, but then he went on to state that "the transformer? was not included in the diagnostic charge. Then he looked at the electrical outlet and said that wasn't covered in the "diagnostic charge." He gave me a quote to fix the two items of approximately $700!!! I paid $142.50 for five minutes.\r I fixed the two problems myself later that day for under $30.00 with part I bought at Home Depot. more

I told him then that I was unhappy about the price but had no alternative. I also called the original dispatch number to voice my displeasure. I timed the work; it literally took FIVE minutes. Annualizing that rate, Neerings charges $9,534,720 for their techncian's time. It is extortion - plain and simple. What Neerings is doing is unconscionable. End of story. more

Recently Matt replaced our Water Heater, replaced some pipes and got everything to code for us. You can trust this man anywhere. He had a lot of work to do and it took awhile. Our only stress was worrying about him starving. I would've offered food, but I knew that he wouldn't stop to eat. He worked so hard and always kept a smile on his face. What a trooper! I've never appreciated Hot Water so much in my life! more

I had a simple finish nail through a plastic cold water supply hose going to a shower. The nail had pierced the hose eight years ago when the house was built, and not been discovered until the trim was removed, pulling the nail out of the hose and shooting water in to my daughter s bedroom. It is extortion - plain and simple. I have run elevator service businesses, using Union labor in major cities. Our labor rate was $165/hour billed in 15 min increments - on call 24/7. What Neerings is doing is unconscionable. more
