Editorial review from Citysearch 2/28/2013

Gift cards are a scam. We got one from a friend in Towson who thought we would be able to use it at a Mo's near us. The front just shows the Mo's logo, but the card is only good at the Towson location. The downtown location didn't even know the cards existed! I tried to talk to the folks in Towson about it, but was told it was my problem. They had their money and didn't care at all that the cards were misleading. more

Worst service and food not up to par 3/26/2011

First let me start off by saying we drove almost 30 min to get there because there is no longer 1 in Harford Co.(which used to be really good). Well my family and i get there and it took about 20 min to get our drinks after we ordered. They used to keep iced water on the table but i guess not anymore. Any way, the crab dip is excellent. That was the best part of the meal. As for the filet mignon, my poor mom got stuck w a end piece that had grissle all through it. The crab imperial was okay but not what it used to be. It tasted like pure Sherry wine. My soda even tasted funny. My dad asked for old bay twice and never got it and we would have to ask for refills and wait about 15min before getting them. My brother got a burger that tasted horrible and fell apart like powder. Their mash potatoes taste like rot and the waitress gave my mom a plastic knife because she said they ran out of steak knives. After sending her filet back twice, they then gave my mom a very rare, still mooing filet. We then just asked for a box. I thought restaurants were supposed to have chefs not short order cooks? Oh and our bill $220 dollars. Thats right your tip is automatically added in even if the waitress was horrible, and that tip is applied after tax not to the subtotal like its supposed to be. Horrible experience! Will never go back. more

Terrible Customer Service and Horrible Manager 3/25/2011

I cant even give this place one star... the waitress charged my card twice and was not apologetic about the situation. She claimed that the first charge was cancelled but of course when I call my bank I was charged twice. I asked for both a copy of the receipt that was cancelled and she said she ripped it up.... I am a bartender and have been one for years and know that you are not supposed to do that. When I confronted the ignorant manager, he proceeded to call me ""BABY"" ""SWEETHEART""... and tell me that it was cancelled and to wait a few days. Once I had the bank on the phone he told me he wanted to see my bank statement knowing and admitting previously that they had charged me twice. He said he had 5 restaurants and didnt need my money and didnt have to take my money. I am in the process of disputing the charge with my bank. He was an ignorant, arrogant, wanna be business man with no manners, people skills, or common sense. Never have I been treated in such a manner. I advise anyone not to go to any of the locations. Save your money and your credit card the trouble of being charged twice.... thats probably howo he has 5 restaurants... by swiping twice.\r more

Always eat at Mo's 5/12/2010

Mo's was recommended to us the first time we visited Baltimore. My husband is a crab connoisseur, and he has pronounced Mo's the best. He doesn't tend to like crab cakes, but he likes Mo's. While the price is not exactly an amount we would shell out daily to eat, for what they give you, it's definitely worth it. I don't know what rluery (previous review) expects in crab cakes, but the ones we had were almost all crab; just enough filler to bind the huge chunks of crab meat. I can only speculate he must be associated with an inferior competitor, especially since he's from Baltimore. We always visit Mo's twice every time we're in the Baltimore area. Their crab legs, crab au gratin, and crab imperial are also superb. Recommend at the highest level! Pros: They have the best crab in the world Cons: Restaurant is a little small more

Mo's Seafood - Worst Crabcakes 5/2/2010

I grew up in Baltimore and know when I have had a decent crabcake and I am able to judges based on proportion of filler to crabmeat and quality of crabmeat used in the crabcake. \r \r Eating at Mo's brought my crabcake experience to a whole new level. It was as though I were eating a muffin made of crackers and old bay with a few pieces of backfin inserted into the middle of this tasteless piece of junk. If not for the few pieces of backfin inserted into the muffin I would say this is probably the worst crapcake I have ever had. \r \r I did not have any of the other items on the menu but I would say avoid the crabcakes. Also added to my check was a 15% gratuity which seemed puzzling since I was only there with one other person. Our bill for 2 orders of crapcakes was around $81 with gratuity, no drinks, desert, or appetizer. What a ripoff. I will never be back at Mo's\r \r Pros: Good Service Cons: Lousy Crabcakes more

I like this !!! 1/22/2010

Great, Great, Great 12/10/2009

I am a Pharmacy student and a Certified Pharmacy Technician with my District Manager giving a former Pharmacist a retirement party. The bar was located right when we entered the location to give the guests arriving a chance to get more acquainted. We were placed upstairs in the main dining area because of the amount of guests that we had invited and this was perfect. The atmosphere was just what we needed to keep the party in high spirits. The staff was very cooperative with us and didn't hesitate to keep us satisfied. I had an evening that I will never forget, neither will the Pharnacist that was retiring. She still talks about that evening. We visited the location of President Street. I've gone back several times to the carry-out section and order occasionally through faxes on my job and the quality and service is still great! Keep up the good work. Pros: Great Food Preparation Cons: Not enough locations more

Great Crab Cakes great service! 10/28/2009

I writing this as i'm sitting in the restaurant so you can trust this. The service has been great. The waitress (Candice) even gave me some info on the city. For food I ordered the ny steak with the famous crab cake and it blew me away. We'll the crab cake did the steak was average but more than enough. The portions were large and could have easily been split between two people. I haven't gotten the bill yet but with dessert (warm brownie with ice cream)and wine, I'm expecting to pay about 45 bucks; Well worth it for a great meal. more

Lousy 10/1/2009

I came here with a mixed group from work. If you are white, you get the good stuff quick. If not, you wait and wait for cold food with the barest minimum. We will not be back. EVER. Pros: they can't stay open much longer like this Cons: racist, cater to drunks more

Like Crabmeat? 9/16/2009

Had a great dinner at Mo's last night. The 2 crabcakes were huge and packed with big, fresh, lumps of backfin. The crab imperial was full of the same big lumps of fresh backfin! Like crabmeat? Go to Mo's! Pros: Huge Lumps of fresh Backfin! more

Great Service 6/4/2009

Great 8/21/2008

Worms happen. \r \r They come in on the grapes, hang out during fermentation, and crawl around the winery. \r \r In good winemaking you try and eliminate as much as you can from getting in the wine and then in the process of 'racking' the wine you also hope to get out any bits. The final thing you do at bottling is filter the wine.\r \r There are all kinds of degrees of filtration and at very minimum you should use what is called a screen filter. That basically does not effect the wine at all but keeps out particles greater than 1mm.\r \r A lot of small wineries bottle by hand, and they don't use screens. Some others have heard the phrase ""unfiltered"" so much that they tell the bottler to not use a screen.\r \r \r In any case, you should complain to the winery not the restaurant.\r \r Dont believe me? Go to wine spectator school and check out the forum. \r \r Regards, Pros: food Cons: none i remember more

Worst Dining Experience of my life 8/18/2008

I ate dinner at Mo's Crab and Pasta Restaurant in Baltimore and was enjoying the meal until my boyfriend noticed a live maggot-like white worm in his red wine. Then, after searching, we both found several others in our glasses. We had ordered a bottle and watched the waiter open it in front of us. After alerting him, he was very defensive and said that it must be the wine and from the grapes that made the wine. This did not make a whole lot of sense, but we were trying not to make a scene so we waited patiently while the waiter called the manager who was not on-site that evening. We were told that the manager wanted to come meet with us and that he would be right over, but first he tried to difuse the situation by offereing us a new bottle of wine. (Are you kidding? I was feeling sick from the thought of drinking worms and the last thing I wanted was more wine.) As we waited for the manager I called a friend and had her google ""worms in wine"" and all sorts of similar phrases. Well, nothing came up on google!! So, we concluded that the waiter was full of it and in fact the wine glasses were worm-ridden. Finally, after we waited 45 minutes, the manager calls and again and confirms that he is not meeting us but wants to talk to us. My boyfriend got on the phone and had to pretty much fight just to have the wine fee of $28 removed from the bill. The manager said it is not his fault that there were worms in the wine. My boyfriend told him that we had been waiting for 45 minutes and deserve something taken off our tab, but the manager would not budge. WHAT A HORRIBLE WAY TO RUN A RESTAURANT! Needless to say, I am upset and disgusted by this place. I am going to complain further and to the nationally acclaimed vineyard that supplied the wine. They need to know that this restaurant is committing slander. more

BLATANT DISCRIMINATION and WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE 3/27/2008

Horrible service. Horrible Manager (Terri) at the Eastern Avenue location. I am employed at one of the best medical facilities in Baltimore, which frequents this establishment with large parties, bringing substantial revenue to this restaurant. Attempted to book reservation for personal event of 20 people. Terri was unpleasant in explaining restaurant guidelines, was not customer service oriented in any way, not considerate to the needs of the customer and seemed to have different standards & guidelines for a person of ""COLOR"". Believe me, it was OBVIOUS! The reservation charge for large parties went from $100 to $200 when I know for a FACT from previous reservations that the fee is just $100. I am disgusted and will inform everyone that I can about this incident so that they will not patronize this restaurant. What do you with this type of prejudice and in 2008? Take my money of ""COLOR"" to another restaurant that is more professional and appreciative of the business of a LOYAL customer, regardless of what race they are...like ""By The Docks in Middle River. UNBELIEVABLE or maybe not so unbelievable? \r Regards,\r Former Customer Pros: Tasty seafood Cons: Poor customer service, blatant discrimation more

Inefficient and biased staff 5/27/2007

Rather dissapointed at the level of service received at the Moe's Crab and Pasta Factory. Service was slow, and there seems to be different service for different individuals. It took approximately an hour to get six steamed crabs and a serving of rockfish. The server did not check back at the table to see if every thing was prepared to order and the rolls, and steamed crabs were cold. We asked the bus boy to get some rolls and although he acknowledged us, he reset a table, water all the glasses in the restaurant before he went to the kitchen for the rolls. By then the rockfish was cold. Automatically a 20% gratuity was added to the bill, this I believe is attibutable to the bad customer service. I hope the Baltimore Visitor Center will not recommend this place to others in the future. It is not one of the best experience that Baltimore has to offer. I will never go back to Moe's, this dining experience was the worst I had in years. Cons: Service more

Delicious 4/1/2007

We traveled from Connecticut to Baltimore and were searching for great seafood. We found that at Mo's. The service was great and the food was delicious. Everything tasted fresh and the portions were very generous. We will be sure to go back and recommend it to all our friends. more

Worst service at any location 11/17/2006

Order a Crab Cake platter for $16.00, they mess up the order by not including the sides for carry-out. Call the manager and her reply is that she doesn't have time to deal with problems right now and call back after 5:30 then just hung up. We just spent over $100.00 with this establishment and the manager says call back in 5 hours? We are also a company that had in the past purchased large spreads for employees and this is how we are treated. On the check that actually charged a premium for take out and they still get the oreder wrong and refuse to rectify the problem. The worst service I have ever experienced. more

MO's KNOWS! 8/4/2002

Ambiance, quality service, and most important, GOOD EATS brings me back over and again. The quality of its seafood, salads, breads and wine is quite superb. The host invites you in as if you're the most important patron alive and the waiters are fast and efficient. You won't be disappointed with the prices after such a palate pleaser! more
