Great Place 3/22/2019

I have purchased 5 new Forresters from Mike Shaw, for family members. So,since they know me, I can understand why I might have a better buying experience than some people. But, I love their service dept. They are fast, they diagnose problems correctly the first time, and the cost always has matched the estimate. I would recommend them to anyone and will remain a customer forever. more

DONT TRUST THIS DEALERSHIP 6/17/2014

They ripped me off 4000$ and sold me a car with a terrible oil leak and it broke down on my way to drop it off and they left me (a customer) with no way to work. I'm a female and I was left in a town I don't know plus I just moved here and know anyone in this state (btw I let them know that). If I was you I would stay away from these guys. They take advantage of people and have no regard of a human life. more

Excellent Car-Buying Experience 1/28/2013

I had a great experience purchasing a vehicle from Mike Shaw Subaru. My salesman (Jose Valdez) was knowledgeable, friendly, and had a zero-pressure approach. The finance team was wonderful as well. I'd encourage all of my friends to use Mike Shaw. I'll definitely be back! more

Just Fine 6/4/2012

Went to Groove after reading some reviews about Shaw. Didn't notice it was the same guy posting everywhere. Groove didn't have the car, told me they'd get it and to sign paperwork. They didn't. Shaw had it, treated me great. Upfront, no games, no add-on stickers next to the price. Disclosed my credit score, which oddly went up from when I was at Groove a day earlier. Came to the conclusion that you need to try places on your own. The bad reviews for all dealerships are by the same people on every site. I would go back to Shaw. Can't complain. more

STAY AWAY!!!! SHADY DEALERSHIP 3/7/2012

We had made agreements with the dealership agent for a certain price and amount to be financed. We did all this ahead of time because we live 6 Hours away from the dealership. When we arrive everything seemed great.. until, of course something had to go wrong. The employee we worked with was so confused and misdirected he had to go to his manager for every question we had. They tried to change the price AND tell us we couldn't finance the amount we agreed upon before arrival. Now take in mind we had just driven 6 hours to pick up this vehicle just to have the dealership pull a fast one on us and try to force us to pay more for the vehicle. There is no such thing as customer service at "Mike Shaw's Subaru." The employee supposedly helping us with the deal actually tried to say he was done with it and didn't want to cause more damage. Either the employees here are not trained which is a ownership problem or they were trained poorly.. again OWNERSHIP problem. They tried telling us multiple times " We sell 200 cars a month" supposedly this means something to them. To me all it meant was they get enough business that if they screw over one person it doesn't matter to them. This dealership is the most unprofessional one I have ever came in contact with which is disappointing considering their "reputation." Do yourself a favor and save the money and headache and find a dealership who truly cares about their customers. more

Stay Away!! 1/18/2012

Refused to deal with the price of the car even though all other dealerships had it lower. salesman believe his name was seabrook took over on the deal and he was the highest pressure salesperson i have met. His voice was annoying as well. but thats irrelevant. Told them i needed to wait and go check out other dealerships and that was it. Rude as hell after that. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. GO TO GROOVE more

stay away from this service department 12/7/2011

I brought my car in after it kept dying. $1300 later and after being told I wouldn't be able to drive it off the lot if I didn't authorize them to make a number of repairs that had nothing to do with the initial issue I came to find that they had LIED about at least one of the things they said was wrong with my car. My husband had replaced the battery days before I brought it in, thinking it was a battery issue (Mike Shaw ended up replacing the alternator, which I do believe was due to be replaced and the cause of the issues-a $400 fix). After Mike Shaw told me that the brand new battery was unable to hold a charge, I took that batter and returned it to Pep Boys - they tested the battery right in front of me and nothing was wrong with it. This obviously called into question the remaining services done to my car while with Mike Shaw - when I brought this up to their service department they *literally* laughed at me and said they stand by their work. STAY AWAY FROM THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT - they will take you for all that your worth. more

Slow 9/21/2011

Customer service is difficult for the people in the service department here. Its not that they are unfriendly, its more about the brain damage they have suffered during the training for their unfortunate positions at Mike Shaw Subaru. more

Typical Car Buying Experience 9/5/2011

Visited the dealership after our car broke down (we were visiting from Chicago). We really wanted a Used Subaru Tribeca and they had two in stock. The deal they offered on the one with 36K miles was horrendous and they wouldn't budge, though the interior was in bad shape (looked like it was used to haul lumber). We pointed out (showed them on the Iphone) that there was a comparable model with similar miles a few dealerships away for less (on the same street) and still they wouldn't match our price - stated that the interior was what we should expect from a model with this many miles. We walked out. 2 hours later we drove away in a 2008 Tribeca from Nissan dealer 1/2 mile away, for $2K less and in much better shape (like new), with a bunch of bonuses (2 year maintence, better deal on financing, less money down, etc.) Would never waste my time there again. more

service can be a nightmare 5/10/2011

After an oil change and car inspection, I was missing a cover from my tire. Another day, I found my dip stick on my windshield, but did not realize it was mine since I noticed it in a parking lot. Thought someone just put it there so threw it aside. Then I went back in for the next oil change, and they tried to charge me for a new dipstick! I had only been taking my Tribeca there, and DO NOT touch my engine, so there was NO reason it should have been missing, except someone in service was not paying attention. Other times they have left the paper protector in the car instead of throwing it out. Another time I asked why my car had a delayed start, and they acted like I was an ignorant woman, and said it was the gas I was putting in...but come to find out over a YEAR later, my battery and battery cables are corroded! Now I found out that they have not been honoring my extended warranty... more

bad experience 3/11/2011

unfortunately i bought a lemon from Mike Shaw Subaru. I needed a new transmission and about 5 other parts totalling over $5000 within the first 6 months of owning the car. I wish I could take back the day that I walked inside that dealership. more

No regrets, no remorse 2/17/2011

I exchanged 20 emails with Cliff without coming across as a potential buyer (because of previous bad experiences with car salesman) yet Cliff replied to every email in a timely manner. Never applying any unneeded pressure of trying to make a sales. Residing in Glendale the Mike Shaw Subaru dealership was quite a commute being in Thornton but going there was worth every mile. It has been a couple of weeks since my purchase and I still get the first class treatment, unlike other salesman and dealership Cliff and Mike Shaw Subaru actually care about your experience in a whole from beginning to end. I would recommend that anybody interested in purchasing a vehicle to go see Cliff Swaim at Mike Shaw Subaru. No regrets, no remorse. more

Mike Shaw Subaru KUDOS 1/28/2011

I have purchased 2 Subarus from Mike Shaw and have referred all of my family and co workers to buy there because of two people,Cliff Swaim in sales and Kathy in service. The professionalism and attiude and customor service of these two people are outstanding and I will always go back and always refer people who are in the market for a Subaru or any vehicle to Mike Shaw Subaru. I can't give them enough credit. Respectivly Jason & Ayumi Bonger more

service 12/11/2010

Gunnar Nettleship made my experience at Mike Shaw Subaru excellent. He checked my warranty, called the company, and saved me some unnecessary repairs. My experience at Mike Shaw is always fantastic. I was told at a previous business that I needed 4 new tires, when in reality I was able to get only one new tire, and it was mostly covered under my warranty more

Good service 11/22/2010

The service guys are and have always been great to me and my Subaru Outback(2008).They are professional, honest, and good-humored. It is a real pleasure to go to the dealership knowing my car will be taken care of so I can go confidently on my way. I feel really safe in my car; example: they explain that I must increase the pressure in the tires in winter more

Good experience 11/22/2010

I don't usually spend my time submitting reviews but my experience at Mike Shaw was extremely comfortable. They were accomodating in every aspect of the transaction. more

Bad first time buyer experience. 7/26/2010

1. Salesperson said they would fix check engine light and overheating issue if we bought the car. Unresolved and charged me for it. 2. Staff put a dent in car door and accused me of doing it. 3. Salesperson said title and registration would be included in price. Was not. 4. Salesmanager unresponsive and talked down to me. 5. Car title was inaccurate and I could not get car registered. "Title person" did not apologize for the error until after I complained to her boss. The stereotypes of car dealerships only caring about your money and nothing more were absolutely true here. Their motto is, “We want you to be happy,” and despite my communication with them that I was not happy, it didn’t matter. They repeated those words to me but some of them didn’t seem to mean it. I have had better customer service from a 16 year old at McDonald’s during the hectic lunch hour when I received the wrong order. My advice to you if you are a first time buyer at this or any other dealership: 1. Make sure that everything the sales person says they will fix for you is documented on the "We Owe, You Owe" sheet. Do not sign anything unless that is to your satisfaction. 2. When you receive your title, look at it very closely and make sure all the information is correct. I was silly and assumed they would have everything right. 3. Take pictures of the car before you test drive it and after. Examine the car for new body damage while their staff moves the car around the lot. 4. Check the mileage on the car. You will be able to tell if their service department took the car for an accurate road test (as in more than 2 miles) after they claimed to have repaired the car. 5. Find out exactly what they mean when they say that title and registration will be included in the sales deal. Each state has different laws regarding purchasing cars. more

Best Car Buying Experience! 2/11/2010

I have bought three cars from Steve S. in the past 3 years! He is so knowledgeable about Subaru's and I fully trust his expertise above all others! He is friendly and makes buying a car a really fun experience. The service at this dealership is great. I will continue to buy from Steve at Mike Shaw for years to come. Thank you!!!! more

An Old Fashioned High Pressure Dishonest Dealer 11/2/2009

I thought dealerships had changed until I went into Mike Shaw Subaru. Ultra high pressure, deceitful dealership. I was a sap to do a deal with them, but I really was in need of a car and they were close to where I work. The first salesperson was nice, then they brought in the high pressure person to close the deal. I had driven this model before so I didn't want to test drive it. The salesperson told me it was a state law that a car could not be sold unless the buyer test drove it. I do not think this is the case. My trade-in was in the shop that day. They got me to give them a trade in value without them seeing the car. I think I underestimated what I should have gotten. My fault, but the pressure was on. We negotiated a price, but then the finance papers were written up with the full sticker price. I did catch that in time. The finance person talked me into an extended warranty. He would not explain the factory warranty for comparison. He told me I would make up part of the cost by it covering the scheduled timing belt replacement. Turns out the timing belt is scheduled for 105,000 miles. 5000 miles after the extended warranty expires. After the extended warranty, the trade-in, the $500 paperwork fee, etc., I think I paid at least $3500 more than I would have at another dealer. So, if you do go there, be ready. Do all your research, check the facts and numbers. They will take advantage of you wherever they can. more

Avoid Shaw 6/3/2009

Tried to buy an outback from shaw. Told the salesman if they could beat a price from heuberger, I would consider them as the purchase place. They did match, but not better, and I told them they had to beat the deal. They got mad and told me to go somewhere else. when I talked to a sales manager, he told me he'd do the same thing, which was to be totally rude. I never promised to buy from them, just consider them. Never, Ever, again! more
