These people…wow. Military orders do not qualify to cancel services. Beware of any company that does buisness with Member Solutions.\r \r ***Update*** They have cancelled my contract and said they will be looking into adjusting their policy. All in all this has been a very negative experience, but I hope that it does not happen to anyone else. more

I am also writing to confirm other clients negative reviews and rebut what the CEO of the company is claiming. He claims that Member Solutions collects money on behalf of their clients. I know that this is false. I have done some research and have found that they actually buy the contract from the gym, martial arts studio, etc. Because they do this they are trying to recover their cost by refusing to honor the contract. My son has not attended in 7 months and the studio has NEVER contacted me except to continue to send emails regarding events, etc. if they were not being paid they would sent notice. Member Solutions has had me and my son's doctor jumping through hoops as they try to find any way they can to bind me to the contract. My son was diagnosed with a chronic neurological condition and was advised not to continue tae Kwon do. I have sent 4 letters of intent to cancel, original doctors note, copy of the contract, 12 pages of personal medical information, copies of the FL statute that proves they are in breach of the contract and information regarding their threat to affect my credit and that this malicious behavior could lead to a lawsuit. They sent me overdue bills, threatening emails and phone calls for 5 months. Finally they have stopped harassing me but now I am forced to check my credit every few weeks to make sure they are not trying to damage it. In a way I hope they try...then I would have a lawsuit in the bag! NEVER sign a contract with them!!! What I have written here is only the tip of the iceberg. more

Mr. Pinado,\r \r Your post only further aggravates and frustrates the people that have to deal with Member Solutions. I for one have issues with many of the dishonest and misleading practices of the company, specifically with how things are worded in the contract itself. I am temporarily disabled due to a leg injury and provided Member Solutions with a copy of my diagnosis and also had my physician submit a form that I would be undergoing physical therapy for a short time and would be unable to use the facility in which I signed the contract. Sure enough I get a letter back saying that my claim for permanent disability was denied and that I'm still liable for the remaining amount on my contract. First of all, I NEVER SAID I WAS PERMANENTLY DISABLED. I tried to call the customer service number, but was disconnected several times. When I finally spoke with a representative, they told me that I cannot freeze my payments, only the time on my account. I asked where on my contract it says that and they told me that it is not printed on the contract and that they can only extend the terms of the agreement (as a ""courtesy"", which he kept on reminding me was something they don't even have to do). Why would I keep making payments for a facility that I cannot use due to my disability? I'm not even trying to get out of my contract, I just want to freeze it until my leg heals up and I'm cleared to train again. \r \r Mr. Pinado, it is these dishonest and unethical practices that make people distrust your company. Instead of being upfront, honest, and transparent about the contract and everything it entails, you choose to use sneaky tactics and shady wording to trap people into commitments that they should never be getting into in the first place. You know that kids like to change interests quickly and prey on the parents by having them sign contracts that trap them in long-term commitments. The parents should make a better effort to comprehend what a contract means, but that doesn't change the unscrupulous conditions that are present on the contract. I guarantee you that if the terms were laid out as practically as possible (i.e. if your child decides they no longer want to attend this school after 2 months, you will still be liable for the duration of the contract), not even half of the customers would sign contracts and there wouldn't be any issues. \r \r ""Every Member Solutions team member undergoes rigorous training to handle customer calls and resolve outstanding issues in a courteous and professional manner and with the utmost care and sensitivity."" Seriously? I've spoken with several representatives and none of them were either competent or helpful. more

My name is Steven Pinado and I am the CEO of Member Solutions. I am sorry to hear about the circumstances listed and empathize with the situations described in the various posts as a consumer and parent.\r \r It is important to understand the nature of Member Solutions’ business and the role that we play. Member Solutions is a full-service billing company which manages and services member accounts on behalf of our clients. These contracts define our clients’ responsibility to you, and they also define your responsibility to our client. It is Member Solutions’ responsibility to enforce these contracts and ensure each party meets its responsibilities. \r \r We realize that financial issues are a sensitive matter and we in no way mean to discredit individual hardships and circumstances. Every Member Solutions team member undergoes rigorous training to handle customer calls and resolve outstanding issues in a courteous and professional manner and with the utmost care and sensitivity. \r \r I hope that this post gives you a better understanding of our position, our company’s role and our own responsibility, as a billing company, to enforce contracts.\r more

Warning: Avoid Martial Arts Contracts with Member Solutions 12/24/2011

Stay away from McDojos with contracts, especially those that use Member Solutions (a.k.a. Youbill, Inc.). Always check BBB ratings. Member Solutions's rating is currently being updated, but we were shocked to find that our martial arts school's rating was an F and has been for years. Our child can no longer attend the martial arts class we signed up for. But, because Member Solutions already paid three years in full, we're stuck with a loan, not a tuition payment, to Member Solutions. This loan must be repaid regardless of the quality of the actual service provided. Class quality went way down, though numbers went up, and our child ended up attending class in a chaotic and upsetting environment. Then, the belt tests became arbitrary: they started to fail students regardless of performance, and I suspect that this was to get more belt testing fees and force the need to renew the contract at the end. Being called a failure despite high levels of achievement is demoralizing for anyone, especially children. Finally, we withdrew our child from class with a year to go on the contract. However, because this is a loan service payment and not a fee, the only way out of the contract is through small claims court. This company helps martial arts schools set up these kinds of scams all over the country. Don't walk, run away from long-term martial arts contracts. more

Re: Member Solutions Customer Service 11/2/2011

Moved nearly 200 miles from my daughter's Taekwondo and was told to fill out relocation papers to stop pmt deductions from my card. Faxed them in, still charged my card, told me never rec'd fax. So sent email confirmation of fax, then told that the original fax date not on cover sheet. Even though on the relocation form and email confirmation from Fax company. All the while still paying for daughter's new classes here also. This is a scam company. No reason they should charge you for 2 mos after you cease classes. Take them only a few days to start debiting your card when your child starts classes. Pay close attention to the contract you sign when your child begins any sports class. If Member Solutions is the company they use to collect their fees. You should decline. more

Stuck with Contract 1/4/2010

I just became unemployed a few months ago and shockingly I didn't qualify for unemployment as I didn't work for my employer long enough to qualify. I've been trying to cancel my contract with Member Solutions but have been told I'm still obligated to pay $215 each month. My son isn't allowed to go to karate class until the money is paid so, I don't get it. Why do I still have to pay and my son can't go to class? I've tried several times and also surprisingly, there isn't any clause in there regarding the inability to pay or unemployed and so forth. Can someone tell me how to cancel this contract because I obviously can't afford to pay now. I should be able to be released from this responsibility if I agree to pay whatever I can for the balance now due as of January 1, 2010. Please help? Any advice? more

No consumer protection 10/21/2008

I totally agree with the other reviewer before me. This company does not protect the consumers of service and keeps on charging the accounts long after cancellation. I was also a member of the martial arts company but had to quit. But this company did not stop withdrawing from my account saying that they are trying to contact the person at the martial arts center. This went on for five months till I got hold of someone high up to cancel my account. They said they cannot do anything about refunding the money. more

Bad business practice 10/24/2007

I was part of a martial arts class, but I tore my leg muscles This was the billing company for the martial arts class. They kept charing me long after my doctor filled out the paper work saying I couldn't do martial arts anymore. They kept charing my credit card long after I had called and said that I wasn't able to use my leg. I kept trying to sort it out, they kept saying they would look into it and someone would call me. No one called me, I kept getting bills. I had to report them to the Bettter Business Bureau and I'm currently looking into small claims court. They are the most underhanded and irresonsible business that I have ever encoutered. Do not use them. It would be a big mistake. Pros: there are none Cons: Really underhanded and irresponsible. more
