Mad City Moving

To say that my moving experience with Mad City Moving was horrible is an understatement. \r \r The movers dropped our very expensive SubZero fridge, rendering it unusable. We were not upset at the time, as we understood accidents happen and fully expected the company to take responsibility and replace the damage. We were still kind to the movers, I went to the store and bought them 6 Gatorades throughout the day and tipped them very well. \r \r But when it took 2 months for our fridge to be repaired and we had to buy a new one to get by, we called to complain that it was taking so long. When we called I was yelled at for 15+ minutes by the woman at Mad City Moving who answered the phone. I was told that it was my fault and that because of the fridge incident that a man was fired from Mad City Moving and could no longer feed his family. After 15 minutes of this, I was left in tears. I was also told that I was unreasonable for expecting quicker service. Once the fridge was finally repaired, by their chosen vendor, Mad City Moving came back to move the fridge back into our house (it was in the garage awaiting repair). When moving it back in the house, 2 new dents were put in the freshly repaired stainless steel panels and the stainless steel kick plate was bent beyond repair. We chose to pay for these repairs ourselves because I didn't want to call the company again and be subject to their verbal abuse. \r \r DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. You will end up having to pay a lot for the move and then pay additional costs for repairs when they mishandle your belonging. The move ended up costing us 3 times as much as it should as we had to buy a fridge while awaiting repairs and then paid out of pocket for the second round of repairs. \r \r It was the worst customer service experience of my life. \r more

One of the two movers was very unprofessional. He intentionaly procrastinated the moving in order to over charge me. The office woman was not friendly at all. She and that specific mover seemed have some kind of conspiracy to overcharge custormers. I think it all depends on which crew you have from this company. Good luck to you. more

Even though my house was messy they did not complain and did a great job. The estimate on the price was right on target. They were very careful with my things. more

The two men showed up on time and had me moved out of my apartment a lot quicker than I had anticipated. Very courteous and hard -working! The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars for the total experience is that they forgot to carefully wrap an antique table I asked them to and they scratched the wooden floor while wrapping the couch. Still it was worth every penny! Nothing was broke or damaged during moving and they were affordable compared to other movers who try to squeeze an extra 30-45 minutes out of the move! I had a wonderful experience with Mad City Movers. They gave the most reasonable quote and delivered everything they said they would do. They were prompt and worked very efficiently. I could not have asked more from them. I would highly recommend them for any type of move. more

Everything went well, there was a slow start because the directions were wrong and I lived in a different apartment number. Then the buzzer system wasn't working from my apartment, so we used almost a half an hour just getting them into the apartment and time is money, so that was frustrating. BUT, the guys made the situation seem okay and stayed friendly and calm when I was slightly angry. They got all of the moving done quickly and were funny and joking with me the whole time. They gained my trust with my items across country! more

We were very impressed and pleased with MadCity Movers. Our moving date and details changed several times and I was concerned that something wouldn't go right - but the office staff was amazing and got our details right now matter how many times they changed. Our crew arrived a few minutes early and took inventory - they realized that an additional person would be helpful and they called it in to the office. A third guy arrived about an hour later and the three guys on our crew were amazing! They were all very polite and helpful and careful. Not a single item was broken or damaged in any way. They also manuevered some of our larger items that I wasn't even sure would make it through doors - and they got them through! The guys were fast, efficient, careful and polite. I highly recommend them to anyone moving. more

It took 3 hrs to move what I could have moved in an hour. This included me and two other guys helping move things down to the truck. This made it easy on the movers and it still took a long time. more

I was preparing my house to be rented out, and needed to move some things around. The main reason I hired movers was to throw an old treadmill out and move a newer one from the second floor to the basement. After fussing with the new treadmill for 20 minutes, the movers announced that they couldn't get it downstairs in one piece, and weren't allowed to dismantle it at all to facilitate things. So I was left with the primary task I'd hired them for unfinished, but still out $165. I ended up hiring another moving company with more experience with treadmills, and they disassembled it and moved it for $60. I feel that Mad City should have warned me when I first told them I needed a treadmill moved that they had policies against disassembling treadmills in any manner. I also feel that when the movers were unable to move the treadmill, at minimum they should not have charged me for the time they spent trying. Apparently this company does not guarantee its work in any way, the risk is all mine, and I pay whether they succeed or not. I am unhappy, probably will not use this company again, and will recommend that my friends not hire them. more

I moved July 9th from a house I had lived in for almost 30 years, so there was a lot to move. Our movers Terry and Laurence were wonderful. It was amazing to watch them move furniture through doorways and never hit the door frame. They have a terrific system that makes the move go as fast as possible. Since it was a very hot day I had to insist they take breaks. I have never seen anyone run with a piece of furniture in their hands. It was also an emotional move after living in the same house for so many years. Terry took the time to give my daughter a hug when he found her crying in her old bedroom. What more could you ask from movers. Thank you Terry and Laurence you are a couple of great hard working men. more

We have an annual conference in Madison and look to hire movers to bring our conference materials to and from our office to the conference location. MCM offered a great price and we will definitely keep them in mind for this service for next year. more

I wanted a moving company to move the big items and the boxes I had packed. I was reassured that the items would be carefully wrapped for transportation. My son's brand-new wood captain's bed has significant dings and scrapes on it after the move. The move took 3 hrs, but since apparently it takes half and hour to get to my house each way (its actually only 15 mins) ... I had to pay an extra HOUR for the drive time. I feel like I got the short end of the good deal, here. more

Terry & Dave worked non-stop until the move was complete. They took extra care with our furniture. We were very impressed with them. more

The guys put up with a lot. I even had mice jumping out of drawers and boxes, and they kept cool about it & told other similar stories. My family really enjoyed their cordial company, friently attitude & experience! more
