My Samsung TV Died 4th of July weekend. Having time off from work and kids out of school for the summer I was very frustrated. Luckily I have a SONY flat screen also..... SOOOOO I called Samsung who promptly told me that Lakes would be coming out to check on it. I had some trouble locating my warranty information, upon which Samsung told me my TV was manufactured in MAY so it was out of its 1 year warranty time frame. Of course, it was manufactured, packaged, left the warehouse, arrived at BrandSmart and was sold to me, all on the same day in MAY...... I think NOT! The Lakes repairman was quite kind and told me that once I located the receipt that my $100.00 service fee would be refunded and the repair of the entire TV would be covered.... So I didnt cancel the appt, I paid the 100.00 and then I got my receipt from BrandSmart (which in fact stated that I purchased the TV in late September 2012... After many phone calls and emails and faxes with Lakes and Samsung, my receipt was finally loaded onto my account and the repair approved... BUT now I need my refund as the LAKE""S repairman said I would get; no trouble at all.... I have spent a lot of time on the phone over numerous weeks between the both of them.... Lakes says I need to get my refund from Samsung, Samsung says I need to get my refund from Lake's. Samsung even put me in a 3 way call to Lake's but the person who handles GA was on lunch.... Now I am sent to the manager because the person I have been speaking with for weeks is not even the person who can refund me. OF course the manager, Mike Davies (of the GA area), has declined my refund because their policy is simply that they NEVER give money back once it is paid.... According to Mike Davies I should not have scheduled the appt without my warranty info.... To which I reply.... YOUR repairman said I didnt need to cancel and that it would be no trouble to get my 100.00 refunded.... NOW, I dont know any person, WHO, with the knowledge that their TV is covered by a warranty, throws $100.00 at any repair person not expecting to get it back.... I just spent 20 minutes on the phone with Samsung while she tried to get LAKE'S Mike Davies to refund my $100.00, only to have her come back on the phone and say ""Lake's does not refund any money once they have taken it, that's their policy"" Okay then, this broken SAMSUNG TV (since repaired) is covered under warranty and even after that information have been provided Lake's has no intention of refunding my $100.00 which they have no right the keep. Samsung has no intention of making them refund the money, even though they know the situation is fraudulent, and I have wasted 2 months on various calls with them.....\r I will never buy another product from Samsung and I will never use Lake's Electronics again.... LESSON LEARNED! more

samsung tv repair 2/28/2012

i had issues with my plasma tv a couple weeks ago and this was the only authorized service center for samsung in my area. i had the tv screen replaced, which i waited for a couple of days until they shipped the part to the technician that was coming to fix my tv. i had to wait a couple days for that, but once the guy came out he worked quickly and was able to explain what had happen to my tv, because the person i set up my appt didnt really know. but great service overall in my opinion. more

Refused to provide warranty service! 10/27/2011

This company is a Samsung authorized service repair center. I received a onetime extended warranty repair on my Samsung TV and Samsung selected this company to provide the warranty service. The service manager, Mike Babbid (last name may be incorrect but that is what it sounded like) refused to honor the Samsung warranty, even though Samsung was providing the parts and was paying his company to do the labor per their agreement as a warranty service provider. His explanation; I had another company local in my city open my TV up and troubleshoot the system to tell me what was wrong and what needed to be repaired. ""It's not worth our time to go in and work on something when someone else has all ready been working on the TV."" was his response. This guy wouldn't even have a technician come out and just look at the TV. Site unseen, he was refusing to even work on the Samsung warranty ticket assigned to his company. Even after telling him I was going to complain to Samsung about this, he did not care. After calling Samsung, they had to escalate this ticket and said they have never had to deal with a situation like this and that their authorized vendors are not supposed to refuse tickets that are assigned to their queue. more

This place is criminal 10/13/2011

I am not a complainer, but this place is criminal. They took advantage of me, replacing parts on my TV four times (at $250 a pop), and the TV would always break again the next day. They of course would not admit the previous replacements were unnecessary and would not refund. I ended up spending $1000 (more than the TV was worth). The customer service is also terrible.. they always say the person you need is out and more than once they cancelled an appointment *I HAD TAKEN OFF WORK FOR* and ""forgot"" to tell me!! more

Excellent in home TV repair service 9/13/2011

I had white spots appearing on my DLP TV screen. Samsung recommended Lakes Electronics. I called on Monday and was told service person would call Tuesday morning to set up a 2 hr appointment window. I received the call on Tuesday morning, the repair person (Alan) arrived on time and replaced a DMD chip. He was professional, obviously knew what he was doing, and solved the problem. My only complaint is that I think the labor cost was high. I was charged $240 for the chip and $185 for 30 - 35 minutes of labor. Overall, I was very pleased with the timely and professional service that I received. I would definitely recommend and use Lakes Electronics again based upon today's experience. more

Poor MANAGEMNET - RUDE!!!!!!! 1/24/2011

I have a warranty from newegg for a tv and after not hearing anything for a week I called Service Net to find out why. A supervisor called me and had Lakes Electronics on the phone. more

POOR MANAGEMENT - SCAM ARTIST 12/20/2010

Samsung sent them to diagnose and repair my TV. They wound up charging me for a ""diagnostic test"" which consisted of repairman Joe barely looking at my TV and handing me a bill for $95. When I called to speak to the manager (as I was instructed by Samsung) to get a refund, he was extremely rude and refused to refund me. I had a standing appointment for repairs the next week and they never showed. When I called to ask what happened the girl said that the manager had instructed her to cancel the appointment. They failed to provide simple common decency to at the very least cancel my appointment with me. After much research into this company, they are considered the worst in the industry and their lack of management is evident. DO NOT LET THEM TOUCH YOUR TV!!! more

Samsung sent these guys out to fix a defective DMD chip. The TV had white spots but otherwise worked fine. By the time the repairman, Adam Shapiro, left my house the TV would not work at all. more

Lakes #1 10/27/2010

Had a tv person come to my house and took the time to move a tv from another room so I can use it while my other set was in their shop. He also helped me program the remote which I would have been lost without. He was a very courteous and helpful man. They repaired my set quickly and the same man came back to deliver my tv and moved the extra tv back into my spare room. This company is very good and dependable. I would highly recommend them. I also spoke to a woman on the phone who was also very helpful and assured me my tv would be delivered on the certain day within a 2 hour time frame. Fabulous!!! They will have my continued business! Scam Artists 9/22/2010

Brought a television in for problem consisting of intermitent green tint. Paid 50.00 for them to look at it and they NEVER even opened it!! They told me it was the mainboard and would cost 500.00 to repair, So I ended up taking it apart myself and found a bad capacitor on the power supply. 0.85 cents later and it works fine. Called up and complained to the manager and he just didnt seem to care. I wouldnt recommend this business to an enemy let alone a friend!!!!!!! TERRIBLE SERVICE more

Criminals!!!! 8/10/2010

I took my guitar amp there as they are a Peavey repair tech. The amp was the same volume on zero as it was on 10. The tech called me a few days later to tell me they couldnt find any probs. I told the tech in more detail what the prob was and that i didnt care what it took please fix it. They called me back a few days after and said the amp was repaired, I then drove the 40 miles again and picked it up only to find out it still had the prob when i got home. I took the amp yet again back to them this time bringing my guitar and speaker cabinet so I could show them the prob. I actually had Peavey which is the amp company itself on the phone while there. I plugged the guitar in , turned the amp to zero and blasted away full volume then, I turned it to 10 and it was the same. The tech said this is normal. I told the tech "" if this is normal why do I need a volume knob. I asked for my money back and was refused. After waiting in the parking lot and calling friends and the local news for several hours they (Lakes Electronics) called the police on me and had me leave the property. I took the amp to Sam Ash music and they found the prob in a few minutes and are fixing as I am typing. I know in my heart I am not wrong on this one and hope in the future people will be very aware of how this company operates business. more

Be Careful 7/28/2010

Rec'd from Samsung an extended warranty ref the repair on me tv for a specific part they said was faulty. They referred me to Lakes Electronics to get the TV fixed at Samsung cost. However, when Lakes called me to set up the appt they said they would have to charge $95 for service call. This is ridiculous. Had to call Samsung again. They called Lakes Electronics. I then rec'd another call from Lakes' Asst Manager who told me that the specific part and service being approved by Samsung HDQ would not fix my tv. Therefore, i needed to pay for the service call, plus labor and parts! I had to call Samsung again. They called Lakes Electronic. They finally agreed to wave the service call fee and cost of all parts, but I would be responsible for labor. This is a big scam! Check the company out via BBB. Cons: Being Con'd and scam more

Always got what I need 3/1/2010

Every time I go to Lakes they always have what I need. Fuses and capacitors which I can not normally find anywhere else. Staff can answer my questions and provide great service. I will keep going back. more

I called about my Samsung unit. I spoke to a female whom took my information and stated that the repairman would be there on Thrusday. The repairman was there that day and he fixed the unit as well. I had called to ask if they had serviced much older Sharp unit. I brought my unit to the shop. They had a estimate for me in two days. I had my unit back in my home within a week. Great service great people. I recommend this place to all families and friends. Great great place. Pros: best more

Bad Customer Service 11/19/2009

Just called to bring in a surround sound player. The guy says it'll take two to three days to even look at it. That's fine, but $50 for an est. and very rude. if his job is to get off the phone as fast as possible with the least amount of help then he's doing great. more
