Your in good hands 1/30/2017

I know that being a nurse isn't the easiest job in the world. I know that myself I couldn't do that job as I find it very tough. Its surely not a job for everybody and it takes a certain skill and personality to be in that role. That particular jobs require people to have a lot of love and compassion for others who they don't even know. Mickey who was one of my nurses deserves some great kudos because she was always smiling. Lifting up my spirits in times when I was feeling down. She was always helpful when I needed it. As a patient we know that we need help from time to time as there are a lot of things that we can't particularly do. But I really appreciate all the help that you provided Mickey. Erica was another one of my nurses who was always willing to help and also doing more then she should particularly do. With so many patients that are in the hospital, hospitality is so hard to find. But Erica shows great hospitality and care. I have never heard of an ambassador program before. But kindred has one which are designated individuals assigned to visit patients throughout the day and just to see exactly how they're doing. However Dustin was my ambassador who visited me regularly and he was very good at it. He helped with any particular issues worries or concerns that I might have. But overall he was very helpful in getting what I needed. Thank you Dustin for your help. Would be recommendation to others to consider kindred if you're looking for a hospital. Just to let you know we had three other choices before considering kindred but my one main qualification was to have my own private room which one they were able to accommodate. more

Great Nurses and not a easy job 1/24/2017

A well deserved five star to kindred and the nursing team. Everyone has been so kind in every department that I have been with or those who have came to see me. The team in the HBO have been wonderful because I was very apprehensive the first time and they helped to calm me down as I didn't know what to expect. Now I'm very comfortable with going to receive treatment at the HBO department. I know what to expect now as they helped to explain the process. Thanks to Rob and Brandy! The wound care nurses have been really nice when looking after my wounds. They were never forceful or treated my wounds rough. I was a nurse for about 36 years and I know it's not an easy job. I know exactly what they go through when dealing with patients. I admire what they do as we know it's not easy. The last word of thanks goes to Chris who was one of my nurse that helped with my picc line dressing. He was very delicate and percise. Just a big thank you to the entire team and making me feel very comfortable as I had to be there for a lengthy the time. Shirley Kelly more

Good Hospital 1/19/2017

Thank you Mickey for looking after me during my time at Kindred. I really appreciated all your help and your support when I needed it. You're so kind and sweet and a lot of patients at the hospital needs kindness like yours. Thank you for getting me the food that I needed when I wasn't really enjoying some of the dishes. Also thank you for taking care of my pain when I was there. Big thanks to Jared for being so gentle when changing my dressings. Originally I thought he didn't know how to do it but he did. Thank you kindred for being such a great Hospital. The nurses and techs have been terrific. Evelyn Lampkin more

Its has been a great journey, a total of 36 classes to be percise. I've learned so much about myself and the human body that I didn't know before, especially how the lungs function. I originally didn't want to go to the program however my doctor advised that I go and see them for evaluation. He said once I'm there, just make a best determination if the program was fit for me. So I took his word for it, and give it a try because I didn't have much to lose. Surprising myself I think the program was an excellent choice that I made in my life. We know sometimes when we meet people you can always tell that if that person is really dedicated to helping you, or if they are just there working for the money. However I met a young lady by the name of Tanya who is one of the pulmonary experts. She made me feel so comfortable and at ease about myself and the condition that I was suffering from. She was very interested in me and eager to get me back into the condition that it was before I had this respiratory issue. She was very patient and open minded to the things that happened during my life and how I have struggled with my breathing. She was one of the greatest inspirations and motivated me participate in the class. I would have to say it has been an adventure. During those 36 sessions, each day we were performing various and different activities that worked out each body part however contributing to my breathing recovery. During the exercise they taught me how to work out and breathe properly. Something that I didn't do before! I would have to say that the pulmonary program has made me better understand my body and how to control my breathing using various techniques that they have taught me. I'm actually so proud of the program that I always tell my grandkids about it and others who are suffering from breathing issues. I finally graduated from the program but it doesn't stop there! I recently joined 24 hour fitness to keep myself in good shape for myself and family. Bob Beustring more

Go Kindred 1/12/2017

This isn't my first visit but it is my first review. I keep choosing Kindred because I feel safe when I'm there and Dr. Adamo is one of the best doctors that I know. It's always great to know that you're going to be well taken care of while you're there. They have a great group of outstanding nurses and techs that will surely keep you in good health and spirits. Todd who was one of my nurses is an outstanding person at his job; sometimes I don't have to call out to him but he knew exactly when I needed something. Or maybe he was just checking up on me regularly but I really appreciated that. Also thank you for keeping me in good spirits. Glad that I had you looking after me. Also Lawanda who is another nurse that works at the hospital is such the sweetest person. She knows exactly how to treat patients. If there were more nurses like her, I think many hospitals throughout the world would be a great place. Very gentle and delicate on everything she did. Never forceful nor pushy. Thank you for your kindness and care. Also a big thanks to Dorothy for all you've done as well. If I have left anybody out I do apologize as I am not able to remember everybody's name. But do know that you all have done an outstanding job. Lucy F. more

Hello to All 1/11/2017

I'm writing because of the amazing service that I received during my time at Kindred. I was referred there by a Doctor who works at Huguely. How I ended up at kindred was a surprise on its own. They told me that I had a few places to select from but the only problem was the admitting date was during December which was very close to the Christmas holiday. Some of the hospitals that I selected had advised that they were understaffed because a majority of the nurses were out on holiday. So they referred me to Kindred and said that they are always staffed there including with the holiday coming around. I actually admitted to Kindred on December 24. When I arrived at the hospital they were very accommodating. I was given my own room on the third floor which was nice but had to share it at the beginning with another roommate before they left. But the staff their have been extremely nice and caring. Something that I expect from any hospital. Not always that you will find nice people to be around. Especially during the holidays when the majority of people would rather be with family instead of working. The good thing about it when they told me about kindred southwest, I knew exactly where it was because are used to help build the houses around the area so I thought that was kind of cool. But overall the doctors and nurses including the techs have been fantastic and my recovery. I'm so glad that I have the opportunity to get a selection of hospitals to go to but at the end choosing Kindred and making that right choice. Shannon more

Great Pulmonary Rehab Service 1/5/2017

I was in a pulmonary rehab program in 2014 and that was similar in duration to this program. This time a physician related to UT Southwest prescribed this program for me. They wanted me to start immediately so I begin to research online the location of a pulmonary rehab program. I got in contact with somebody that recommended Kindred Ft. Worth Southwest and they also provided a phone number for the program. I called the number and spoke to Ken and he was able to schedule an appointment for my evaluation. One of the pluses to this program is that I could start immediately and they also scheduled me at a time that was convenient for me and my schedule. Some of this, review is going to be based on comparison to the last program that I attended. While attending this program, they explained how to properly use my medications, how to exercise correctly and also taught me how to use the equipment. They all did a very good job with all of these things. They use a device called the Lung Boost for breathing exercises and this device was affordable enough for me to get one of my own for home use. The therapists also explained the benefit of using a spacer for my inhaler so that the medication is better administered. The handouts that they gave me were also very relevant to my situation. However, the equipment here was not in abundance and they could benefit from more of it. Now the exercises were better explained than in the other program and I did benefit more from these exercises than I did at the other program. Overall I think that this is a better program and I also thought that the weight training here was explained very well to me. Ken, Tanya, Ron and Alfred are all very good at what they do. Another positive is that they were very flexible with scheduling and they were willing to work around my schedule. A. Smith more

A group of positive people 1/4/2017

Thank you Kindred for providing me with a great pulmonary and physical therapy experience. It wouldn't have been possible without the help of Ron who works for the pulmonary program and Tracy who works as a physical therapist. Ron who is a pulmonary expert has educated me on things that I never knew before. Almost feels like starting class as 101. He has educated me on how to control my breathing and how to control my stress which leads to my breathing issues. He is surely very knowledgeable at what he does and I seen it firsthand. Some of his good attributes is that he is constantly motivating you no matter if you're doing it wrong or right. I think that something that everybody needs is a, good motivator. I'm sure he's a very humble person and it's kind of hard to people like that these days, especially as some therapist think highly of themselves. Tracy who was my therapist and the physical therapy department is another outstanding individual. she is another person that helps to motivate you to give your best even though you're not always fit for it. I really appreciate your help and all you done in trying to rehabilitate me. Kindred is a place I would surely come back to if I had a choice and a place I would recommend to others. My wife also thinks the same! However don't take my word for it; it's always great to visit them and experience it for yourself. Anes Roberson more

My wonder experience at Kindred 12/27/2016

I had to spend Christmas at Kindred but it's ok, as long as I got the best care possible. Which I did! I really appreciated the kindness and care that I received from all the staff at the hospital. I never met one staff their that was unfriendly or just a bad employee of the hospital. Everyone was terrific and I really mean this from the bottom of my heart. They have such a wonderful medical team and everyone should know this. My room was on the 4th floor which was my very own room and I got lucky since it was private room. Some of the nurses that I think deserve a good review are Mickey, Lawanda, Rita, Deborah, Emily, Gerianne, Godfrey, and Donna. I actually didn't remember everybody's names so I had to ask George from the business office to find out exactly who was looking after me so I could do this review. But these nurses are some of the best. They were always checking up on me, giving the best care possible. I don't think I could have asked for a better team than what I received at Kindred. Hard to believe but it's true! Also Dr Moran and Dr Chennupati were some of my favorite doctors. I feel much better now than I was during my admission. Able to walk further, think more clearly and most important is my ability to be more independent. I also have to give credit to the Physical therapy team for making this happen. I was actually walking over 10 to 12 times a day up and down the halls on my own. Romeo and Angela thank you for being the best CNA nurses for me. Was great to have both of you helping me. Romy your my favorite physical therapist and thank you for letting me exercise in my room when I wasn't able to go down to your gym. As I haven't worked for over one year now, I am hoping with my health in a better condition, I'm looking to get more activity and exercise out of myself. Thank you all for your help and everything that you have done to get me where I am today. Salvador Varela more

Love their Pulmonary Rehab program! 12/22/2016

I came into the program not knowing much about COPD. My doctor had not given me much instruction about breathing techniques to practice when I was having trouble breathing. While I was in his waiting room one day, I began speaking with one of the other patients and the topic of pulmonary rehab came up. During my appointment I brought it up to my doctor and he highly recommended the pulmonary rehab program at Kindred Fort Worth Southwest. I contacted the staff and then came in for my initial evaluation. Ron, one of the therapists, was very knowledgeable, pleasant and informative. After my evaluation, I was scheduled to start attending classes within the following week and I did not have to wait. The therapists gave me a book about COPD and I began to receive very valuable information about proper breathing techniques and the reasons to take different medications that have been prescribed to me. I learned the difference between fast acting medication and long acting medication. I've also received numerous handouts that I can refer to when I'm at home. I was taught a lot about oxygen as well. The therapists here are very vigilant during our exercises and they monitor our vital signs very closely. They are also very encouraging during our pulmonary rehab sessions. I now know the reasons for my treatment as this was explained to me in great detail. I was also informed of how to listen to my body if I am over exerting myself. This program has been excellent and I no longer have to guess things about my condition. The therapists also gave me their contact information in case I ever have any questions. I have called in with some questions since then and I have received immediate answers to them. The staff is very courteous and personable and they really take a personal interest in everyone. They make everyone feel very valued. I think that anyone that has been diagnosed with COPD should attend the pulmonary rehab program at Kindred Ft. Worth Southwest. more

A Trustworthy Hospital 12/20/2016

Been to both Kindred Mansfield and Kindred Southwest. Both of the hospitals have a great nurses and doctors working for them. But both facilities I received great healthcare. I guess this is the reason why I came back to Kindred. One of the positive things about the southwest location is that you have a great physical therapy program which I graduated from. All their therapist are very kind and gentle with treating patients such as myself who are older. Also the nurses seem to know exactly what you need sometimes without even asking. I also like the fact that I am visited by my doctor regularly. Help to easy that sense of worry. Thank you to the HBO team who is looking after my leg wound, it's getting much better now than it was before. Job well done to the entire Kindred team. If your not feeling so well or need a good place with trustworthy doctors and nurses, do consider Kindred as one of your choices. Polly more

Thank You 12/19/2016

It was a great experience at Kindred. I have to give kudos to the nurses that they have working there. All the nurses have been very helpful in looking after me during my time their. I don't recall their names but I just remember the kindness and warmth. The physical therapy program has been a very good experience. The therapist were very motivating in my rehab. I'm not 100% at this time but I did appreciate them helping me. Thank you Ken for helping me to understand my breathing habits and explaining how to control my breathing. Thank you for all your kindness and your support. Just to let others know I actually never heard of kindred before. I was referred there by Baylor medical. However the overall service and care that I received has been outstanding. I surely would recommend others if given the chance. A five star for them. Chris more

A review worth sharing 12/15/2016

It's not my first time to Kindred. I keep coming back here because I feel very comfortable with the staff and the team who have looked over my care for the past three times I was admitted. The pulmonary program that they have there is an excellent program for anybody who is suffering from COPD. They have taught me a multiple array of unique breathing techniques and also how to better understand my body and my breathing when I have a breathing issue. I have doctors who visit me on a daily basis which makes me feel quite comfortable to know that someone is looking after me. All the staff from the nursing, pulmonary team and techs have been fantastic. I surely would recommend others to Kindred. The only suggestion I would give to anybody suffering from COPD is to stop smoking. Sidney Walden more

I love this Pulmonary Rehab 12/8/2016

First thing, the staff Ken, Tanya and Ron I love to pieces. They really lift me up when I'm down sometimes and they are always cheerful and their sense of humor is wonderful. Ken was the first staff member I met and he asked if I could walk up and down the hallway. He walked with me up and down about three times and that was very draining. Before I knew it I was walking up to 1 mile, then one and a half miles and now I'm up to 2 1/2 miles. They taught me breathing techniques that I can use at all times and when I'm short of breath. They also taught me how to cope with panic attacks. I have had issues with anxiety and had to take medication for it and this rehab has enabled me to cut down my medication to a minimal dose. I am very happy with the progress I have made. I am much more relaxed now than when I was when I first started. I have learned how to recognize and control my anxiety and I am now able to stop my panic attacks as soon as they start. Everything that they have taught me has helped me a great deal. One of the things that I like best about the staff is that they really listen to me and they keep me sane. They always give me the best advice and they know what they are talking about. They are very good at what they do and they are also very professional. The only thing I can recommend is some additional equipment. I love the Sci Fit exerciser and there is just one of that type of equipment. Sharron J. more

Love this Pulmonary Rehab program! 12/2/2016

I've been attending Kindred's pulmonary rehab program for about 4 weeks now and it has been a great experience. With only coming here for such a short period of time, I am now able to do some things hat I could not do before starting here. I am much more energetic and I can now open jars on my own with minimal effort. My stamina has greatly improved and I am up to walking 35 minutes on the treadmill. have also taught me how to perform other daily tasks which I used to have trouble with. I love therapists Ken and Tanya who have helped me to get to this point. I also want to recognize the business office staff who have been very helpful in getting me here. I can't say enough good things about everyone here and it has been a very lovely experience. I would highly recommend this to anyone in need of pulmonary rehab services. Rita S. more

Great Pulmonary Rehab Program 11/29/2016

I became knowledgeable of this program from my doctor who offered me this as an option to my pulmonary treatments. After coming in for my evaluation, I was better informed of what this program entailed and I decided that this would be something that would be very beneficial to me. I wanted to at least try it out. After the first couple of visits, I liked it and I enjoyed the people in my group. I also respected my therapists and believed it would benefit me greatly. To date, I have picked up many tips to make my life easier, I'm breathing better and I believe my stamina is much stronger. The pursed lip breathing techniques that I learned have benefitted me greatly. There are just a couple of things that I would like to recommend to improve the program. First of all, I think that there should be more equipment. I also would like to see a maintenance program that I can attend after completing this program. I think Ken and Tanya have been amazing and they are a great asset to the program. They are very caring in what they are trying to teach to help us improve our lifestyle. more

Wonderful care! 11/29/2016

I have been an outpatient at Kindred Fort Worth Southwest since July of 2015. My treatment started with hyperbaric therapy and was followed by wound care treatments until present. Due to the nature of my wound, the healing has been slow but very effective. I am very satisfied with the results and I love the staff that has been treating me. I cannot say enough good things about them and they have always treated me with the utmost dignity and respect. I think Dr. Werner is the greatest and he has very good bedside manner. Due to the successful treatment that I have received, I would highly recommend Kindred Fort Worth Southwest to anybody that is in need of wound care services. Wilborn McB more

Kindred Southwest is the Best hospital I've ever been to. My nurses on the 4th floor were amazing!! They were so kind and compassionate, Lawanda is a charm. Everyone was very informative. A big thank you to Dr.Osafa, he's a great doctor down to earth and tells you exactly how it is. The pulmonary rehab did amazing. Eric is number one in my book very dedicated to his work. My room was cleaned daily and the housekeeper always smiled. The leadership program that they have been doing its really a good way to make sure everything is going ok. I was visited by Ron and it was nice to see his face every day . God bless each and everyone of you at Kindred. TMadden more

Extraordinary 11/23/2016

Kindred Hospital SW. What is there not to like about a place that takes great care of you. My experience here has been extraordinary. I'm a very outgoing person and all I had to do was express my desire to the terrific techs I had. Michelina, always came by just to say hi and that she was on the floor even if she wasn't my tech for the night. Then I had another tech that told me I could call her "T" because I would probably mess her name up, Tatianna who also worked at night. My day techs PJ did a wonderful job, and then there was Marcus and Jeremy who I say are "os" outstanding. All the techs are efficient at there jobs. The nurses who took care, Callie, Lila, just to name a few was excellent. The very first time I met Dr.Le he told me I made his life interesting, I knew he was joking. Also Dr.Chin was a super nice doctor. I enjoyed just talking to him. I will share my experience with everyone I come across, never know they might need Kindred. R. Parra more

My hospital 11/18/2016

No one likes being in a hospital, especially if you have been in one longer than out. I will say that since being here at Kindred hospital southwest, it's a different story. I actually had a pleasant hospital stay. I was talking to Sandy and told her that I would most definitely come back for more treatment if necessary. Several of the techs, Jeremy, Victoria, Tammy was right there anytime I needed something. It's like I had my own personal techs. The housekeeping employee who did outstanding work when she cleaned my room Virginia. She knows how to clean. Dr. Ferree was extremely impressive. When the time came for my discharge, my caseworker Brooke took care of everything and I didn't worry about anything she was remarkable. The nurse manager Lamis came by to see how I was improving everyday. Just another reasons I will insist my friends, family come to Kindred Southwest. My Hospital ' MParker more
