Excellent Return Visit to Kindred BayArea 11/16/2018

I am a return referral patient from Dr. Schnell and Dr. Briggs. I would like to first thank Dr. Briggs and Dr. Schnell for being great physicians. Sheila and the wound care team were all great. I had to call Sheila on the weekend to answer a question and she was very receptive to all my questions and very helpful. Jamie and Debbie in Special Procedures are also really great at what they do. They took care of my central line. The anesthesiologist is really good as well I didn't get nauseated after taking anesthesia this time. Nurse supervisor is Julian and Melanie are both really good - they took care of my concerns in a timely manner. Nurses Laura, Melissa,Tony, Eugenia, and Kenya took really good care of me. Nurse tech Delila, Carrie, Sabrina and Mary on nights, Duncan were also really good. Duncan brought coffee for me every morning. Rehab department has been great to me they know their jobs I've been here twice and they have done a great job PT and OT are awesome at it. At this hospital 90 to 95% of the staff are friendly and family oriented everyone seems to be happy the cafeteria it's convenient and you don't have to leave to go out and get food by my case manager has been very nice and provide a great service. According to staff and how busy they are they normally answer call lights within 5 to 10 minutes. Sometimes they just come in when the light is on to check on me. If this is Infectious disease, Al, takes care of antibiotics and has done a really good job. Sometimes my pain is really really bad even throbbing so I need pain meds late night, nursing staff has been doing a really good job in bringing my pain meds in a timely manner when I really need them. Sometimes I like to take what I call a wheelchair tour. I just wheel myself around the hospital for exercise. We've been please no issues on this trip I like to thank all the staff at kindred Hospital bay area for taking care of me on this visit thank you all very much. more

Excellent Staff at Kindred 11/2/2018

I chose kindred Bay Area after being referred from Herman Memorial Hospital. My overall experience has been excellent, the atmosphere at Kindred Bay Area was great! My private room and restroom were always kept clean, I have no complaints. The food was wonderful - the kitchen staff was very accommodating. All staff was always well-dressed and well mannered. They exceeded my expectations and were always excellent. The staff member that provided me with excellent care and service was Heather in wound care, also the special procedures team - Debbie & Jamie. All staff at kindred Hospital Bay Area were excellent but these two areas exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend Kindred Hospital Bay Area to anyone. I'll miss the staff but I'm so thankful to be healed and heading home. more

Wonderful Experience 10/10/2018

I appreciate everyone and all that you have done during my stay. I was recommended here by my physician from Bayshore Medical Center, Dr. Haddad. He assured me that Kindred was where I needed to be in order to make a full recovery - and he was absolutely right! On of the best things here is that the kitchen staff comes to read my menus and assist me with making selections because I have vision problems, I can't express how much that means to me. The food is actually really tasty too, so it makes the whole experience even better.. It's also a delight to have cloth napkins and real silverware! The doctors are very attentive, all nurses and aides are awesome and very good. Pulmonary came in regularly to check on me and made sure I participated in my breathing treatments. Pam and BeBe are excellent!!! Overall my experience here was wonderful, thank you kindly! more

Second stay, still great 8/22/2018

Kindred hospital has been the best care of any hospitals in Texas that I have been to. Everyone here has gone above and beyond for all their patients. Wound care with Shelia Roberts and her team in red scrubs are great. PT with Carmen, Tisha and the rest of the team are the best of any PT group I've ever been with. Tisha is the fun one and always made me laugh! I really like Dr. Lee and Dr. Al. They are all very easy to follow and understand my care. The listened to me when I had questions about my care. I had been to Kindred about two and a half years ago when they were in Baytown, TX so I was familiar with a few of the staff members and knew this was the best place for the type of care I needed. How right I was, I am prepared and excited to get back home, but wouldn't have made the progress without my team here at Kindred. more

Such kind staff 8/17/2018

During my stay at Kindred in Pasadena, they had everything I needed and were able to tend to my needs. Even when I needed changing at night, the staff did so in such a respectful and caring manner, not once did I feel as I was a bother to them... 4 staff members I would like to personally thank for their care towards me are Felix, Paris, Sommer, and Raymon. Felix is a day shift RN, he was the sweetest and kindest gentleman- he should keep going to s hoop to be Doctor one day!! Paris is a night shift RN who was excellent, I never had to call her about my medications because she always was on time. Sommer is a day shift CNA, she was always on the go but never seemed too busy to take her time with me. She would give me the best baths and was always so thorough. If something in my room was out of place she would take it upon herself to fix it and then still ask me if I needed anything. She is such a hard worker, and extremely caring. Lastly, Raymon, or shall I say Kindred's gentle giant...he is a night shift supervisor who came in and saved the day when I had a minute issue with a night nurse. He then cared for me himself, one night I had comfortable pillows surrounding me that he had placed there. He even helped with my incontinence, he would make sure I had things I needed without making me feel embarrassed for having accidents. He is definitely in the right industry because you can tell he really enjoys helping people without a complaint. Food was awesome here too! My physicians were all kind and helpful, especially Dr. Tran... He was very understanding and explained all of my treatments in a way I could easily understand them. This hospital in general is awesome! Everybody has helped me, they have gone out of their way to help. This staff cannot be replaced or very hard to replace.. I cannot think on one person I have bad feelings for. Everyone was very kind and helping --- thank you ALL sooo much ! more

Best Hospital in town 8/16/2018

I initially chose Kindred Bay Area based off of referral from a physician's son, who is a nurse, that said this is the best hospital for wound care. My overall experience was excellent, I have absolutely zero complaints. I had a private room and bathroom which were kept very clean, and the rooms were always well stocked with any supplies I needed. The care definitely met my expectations and all staff members were very well mannered and compassionate. This whole group is awesome! A few individuals that shined were: Chris, Mira, Tonya, Elizabeth, Shelley, Jeananne, Paul, John, and Misty. The supervisor Misty, was awesome by going to above and beyond for me since day 1 to make sure I had excellent care. The physicians here are wonderful, Dr. Nasser is straight to the point and collaborates with the nursing team so everyone is always on the same page. I met him at Bayshore and he took of my care there, and it's been one of the best experiences I could have been blessed with. Even the food at this hositpal is great - which is difficult to say about most hospitals. Thank you all for great treatments and helping me heal! more

Y'all brought me back to life 5/30/2018

I was a patient at Kindred Bay Area about five years ago for wound care. I had a bad infection to my buttocks. I was at patient's hospital previously and had an operation on my spleen which kept me there for weeks. Once it was time to leave patient's hospital the doctor approach me and asked me where I wanted to go. I told him if I could go back to kindred Hospital bit area that will be fine. So I came to kindred Hospital Bay Area this time for antibiotic therapy for septicemia and rehab. I had a wound vac and needed rehab for about a month. When I started rehab I could not do anything. It took two people to walk me around and I would only take about 10 steps. All the nurses on the floor always answers the call Bill and ask if they help in anyway. I was so very weak when I got to the hospital. Y'all brought me back to life. I gained about 10 extra pounds while at Kindred because the food was so good, which was amazing because I hardly ate at the previous hospital. I can walk around my house much better now. I get out and about with only my cane all is great! I just want to tell everyone I really appreciate them for bringing me back to life. I can't say enough about the care and compassion I received a Kindred Hospital. I want to Thank you all from the bottom of my heart! more

Outpatient Wound care 5/23/2018

I was referred to Kindred hospital Bay Area by Dr. Vyas. He knew that I would make great progress with my foot wound with the help of Dr. Briggs and Dr. Shah. I am currently returning to Kindred Hospital Bay Area for care in the outpatient wound care clinic. While admitted in the hospital the nursing staff met all of my needs and expectations. The staff was always in my room within five minutes asking if they could help me with anything. They also checked on me very often. I could not have been happier with the care and treatment at this hospital. The atmosphere here has been friendly. The food is considerably better than most hospitals. They put plenty of food on my plate and have a good variety of options to choose from. I am healing considerably fast, thanks to Dr. Briggs. He is a great doctor and has a wonderful bedside manner. He explains my treatment in a way that myself and my wife can understand. Sheila, Becky, and Jill, my wound care team have all been awesome. They have made the process bearable. It helps to know that they care considering all that I've gone through. They have educated us on the progression of the wound on my foot and the goals I have accomplished. I started HBO a week after my surgery and I am very please with the healing process. Rehab therapist were very good. I enjoyed my rehab with Tish and Armando Monday through Friday. Dialysis was good too, I went three times a week. I would definitely refer my family and friends to this hospital and most definitely to the wound care clinic Thank you Kindred Hospital. F. Outstanding Treatment at KHBA 5/18/2018

My wife couldn't have been treated any better throughout her stay at Kindred in Pasadena!! Treatments from all staff members and health disciplines were outstanding during both day and night shifts. Our three employees that stood out for going above and beyond for us were: Loretta, Carrie, and Brandon. The housekeeping team also did a great job of keeping my wife's room very clean! Thank you all once again, Mr. Hamaker more

Overall experience at Kindred Bayarea 5/18/2018

I transferred from Bayshore Hospital by ambulance. The ride was great! When I arrived at kindred I was greeted and the staff took great care of me. I have a private room and it was always kept very clean. Someone came and cleaned my room daily. This facility was top notch!! I received excellent care from all of the staff; they were so professional. Armando in therapy was very nice. While he and the rest of the rehab staff were working with other people he provided humor and kept me laughing through my work out. The staff greeted me no matter where I was in the building. Wound care was great! The food was really good! I'm a vegetarian and a diabetic. I was offered a black bean patty and I'm sure it was probably good but I don't like black beans. Despite the black bean patty all my meals were balanced and my overall experience was great. I would recommend my family and friends to come to Kindred if they are in need of long-term care. The doctors were very nice and made me feel comfortable. During my stay the nursing staff was great. One of the medications I was taking caused an allergic reaction, the staff realized really fast that I was allergic; they called my doctor, and they took care of me. The wound care team took really good care of my foot. I'm very pleased with all the treatment and great care I received!!! I want to thank each and every person especially Armando; Who helped take good care of me and helped in the process of getting me well. I love this hospital. Thank you all very much! more

Second time around 9/29/2017

The was my second visit to Kindred Bay Area, and I was once again treated with courtesy and respect by all staff members and physicians. The room was ready upon my admission and I actually had a few staff member waiting in the room too greet me when I got in. Some of the employees even recognized me from my last stay, even though having to be admitted to a hospital is never a pleasant experience, the Kindred team made it a smooth and welcoming transition. All staff members are really nice and made sure I thoroughly understood the plan of care and length of stay. Long term care means you'll be in the facility for 3+ weeks, which makes it difficult, but even though I'm at day 29 the staff continue to exceed my expectations. A few of my most favorite workers here have been Penny LVN, Dalila CNA, and Tisha OT - they are each friendly and a positive influence whenever I had a bad day and didn't have much motivation to do a lot. It didn't matter if I was having a bad day, they always made sure they left me feeling uplifted and able to refocus of recovering and pushing forward. Dr. Haddad is great, but unfortunately he is not in-network with my insurance company, I really hope he is added to my plan so that he could be my primary care physician after I'm discharged. I really enjoyed that he was thoughtful and gave me time out of his busy schedule to to talk to him and get details about treatment plans. My husband and I were accommodated by the therapy team, they would leave oxygen tanks so that we could walk the hospital at night and on the weekends. Overall I would come back if needed, and recommend and refer friends and family, thanks again. more

Wonderful stay 9/28/2017

Upon admission there were no problems and was settled into my room relatively fast. I had a clear understanding of my treatment plans and why I was being transferred to Kindred. There have been a few employees that have been very helpful throughout my stay, especially Esperanza the nurse aide. She always checks in on me to make sure I'm comfortable. Even the housekeepers have gone above and beyond to make sure my room stays clean, Maribel has been the best one so far. She frequently comes in, even if she isn't scheduled to come to my room she stops by and asks me how my day has been and if there is anything I need. I was extremely impressed with the therapy skills from Armando in PT, he always took his time and was thorough with my therapy treatments. Every staff member would explain what they were doing as far as care goes, and nurses would specifically explain the types of medicines I was taking. I would definitely recommend family and friends to kindred Bay Area. more

Great place 4/28/2017

All nurses have been good and we do not have any complaints or concerns with the care that's provided here. All respiratory therapist have been kind as well and tend to my wife's trach with gentle care. My wife has grown very fond of John, ICU RN. He has shown her compassionate care and is knowledgeable of all her treatments. Brother was a former patient here at Kindred Bay Area and we knew this would be the best choice for my wife. Dr. Haddad has been my wife's primary physician for many years and it was a relief to have him continue to see her and treat her here at kindred. Thank you all for all you do for us! more

Thank you so much 1/30/2017

Thank you so much for what you are doing for my Dad and Mom. I know the beginning was a little rocky, but we were just very concerned about my Daddy getting the best care he could get. I would like to thank all those on the third floor who have been his nurses, nurses assistants, respiratory therapist, supervisors, food services staff, cleaning staff, and his physical therapists along with the wound care girls!! Thank you again for everything. Please continue to take care of my Mom and Dad while I return back to my family in Florida. And I cannot forget administration (Selina, I hope that's her) for working with us to give my Daddy his 90th birthday party and Robin from Special Procedures, for checking on him periodically (and for the help with getting a new bed). more

Wonderful experience 12/30/2016

Prior to my admission to Kindred, I was at St. Luke's receiving treatments for appendix surgery, and was told that I would need Long term acute care for the continuation of IV antibiotics, nutrition monitoring, and physical therapy. All of my experiences here have been peaceful and very satisfactory!! Anne, RN, has always been pleasant and encouraging, and shows genuine concern about my health. The physical therapy team has been good - I've worked with Tasha and she has been informative regarding the therapy exercises I can do. Even the therapy techs, who escort me to the gym, have all been extremely kind to me as well. Each time I pressed the call light the unit secretary reasonably answers and within 10 minutes of me telling them my needs I am seen by a nurse. I did not have to endure long waiting periods before someone came into my room, which is kind of unusual for most hospitals. This was another reason why I have had such a satisfactory experience here. Thank you all! more

Great staff and a Clean Facility 12/21/2016

I was a patient across the street and was sent here for antibiotic therapy. All departments at Kindred BayArea have been very professional. The rooms are very neat and clean. The trash cans are emptied three or four times a day. The food was good. I'm on a heart heathy diet and don't mind the Mrs. Dash on my veggies. I learned more about my lungs and broncheals. I have learned a lot about my health here. The rooms have everything you need my only complaint is with the wash clothes, they are very rough. The staff are really clean and well put together and very well mannered. Kindred BayArea has definitely met all my needs and expectations. I have told all who visit me about the hospital and how great it is! I would especially like to recognize Cee Cee , Meemee, Lillian, and Armondo the physical therapist. They were all so professional and followed through to the end. There was not a day that Armando or Lillian didn't come back and encouraged me by saying job well done. They were really great! more

Wonderful facility 10/21/2016

I have been admitted to this is that any person that walks into my room helps me, regardless if they were assigned to my room. One particular evening I suddenly began to choke on my own saliva and by the Grace of God there was nurse right outside of my room that heard me and immediately came to my side and helped. She called for assistance and those two individuals literally saved my life... unfortunately, I do not know their names, but I can definitely recognize them if I were to see them again. God truly blessed me by placing such compassionate and loving hospital staff members here. Each individual I have met here has been genuinely kind, and you can tell the difference between someone who is working for a paycheck and someone who is working because they care about the well being of others - and I can say that all Kindred Bay Area staff members are working here because they truly care. I absolutely love Dalila, CNA, and my attending physician, Dr. Rosemary Obudulu (she visits me daily and encourages me to keep getting better)!! Lastly I'd like to compliment the dietary team and chefs for preparing food tasty meals, and accommodating any of my special requests. Thank you all again, so very much, if I had to return to a long term care hospital again, Kindred Bay Area would be my #1 and ONLY choice! God bless each staff member and all the patients here that are receiving 5+ star treatments. Lydia. C. Garcia more

Kindred review 9/28/2016

This a good hospital . The caregiver are very at tentative. It is clean and neat. If you ask a question they will always give you an answer. I would personally recommend them very highly. I think next ti God, they done a miracle with my wife and only God does miracles. When she first came here I didn't think she would get out, but I can see the turn around was fast and I am getting my wife back. Every nurse was kind, gentle, and attentive. Everyone was top notched. Everyone has been very, very kind. I was really impressed when I left and came back. Now I can go home and rest easy. more

My stay 9/26/2016

My stay at kindred hospital has been a pleasant one. The cleaning staff have been wonderful, nice, and very courtesy. The doctors that attended my father were the best. What can I say about all nurses that assisted, they were the max. I would recommend this hospital to anybody. more

Phenomenal hospital 8/11/2016

Upon admission I had a little information on what to expect, but when I actually got into my room and was settled in it was way more than I expected and even better compared to three other facilities that I have been in. All of the nursing staff members have been kind, courteous, and have shown love and compassion and interest in my well being and recovery as far as my medications, dialysis, physical and occupational therapy, wound care, and nutritional needs. Everything has been more than phenomenal!! All of my doctors, surgeons and wound care specialist have been amazing as well, they keep me thoroughly updated on my progress and treatment plans - which shows me that they really care about my recovery and returning back to a normal and healthy living... Wound care needs and dialysis treatments were my main reason for admission and both departments were great. All departments made sure I was comfortable with the treatments and had a good understanding of them. I wish I could remember each staff member by name so that i could thank each and everyone of them for their kindness and love shown towards me these last few weeks that I've been a patient. I really do not want to leave, but unfortunately all good things must come to an end. Von, my case manager, has been working extremely hard to find the perfect transitional facility for me and my healthcare needs!! At this facility my doctors came to visit me every single day and never once did they make me feel like I was an inconvenience when I had a lot of questions - especially Dr. James. Probably the only bad thing about this hospital is the food - the limited selection was not very appetizing. The therapy teams were also great, they kept me comfortable and motivated me to want to be in therapy everyday, even when I was tired from dialysis and not once did they try to push me past my limits. Overall kindred bay area treated me well and if I had to return I would do so because the staff truly showed me that I was important and cared for. more
