Best Indian restaurant 12/1/2011

Excellent food, delicious drinks, and top knotch service I have been coming here for about 6 years, and it is the best Indian food I have ever found. The food is delicious no matter what you order, and the martini list is perfectly prepared. Tried to make some of the drinks at home, but to no avail. At one point, I hadn't been to India House for over a year, and when I returned, they remembered me, and offered me my regular seat. Top knotch, give it a try. more

Don't be sucked in with a groupon, bad service, average food 10/6/2011

Was craving Indian food, but was very disappointed. Noticed everyone around us using groupons. My guess is that this is the only way they have business. $16 for small chicken dish, $10 basket of bread, $12 for a beer, and very slow non-knowledgeable wait staff. A restaurant that has been around for years should not have to rely on groupons to stay in business, unless they are bad........ more

This is unfortunate 4/20/2011

This was a very disappointing experience for several reasons. First, the service was very poor. Perhaps the restaurant was short staffed. As we ordered no alcohol or appetizers, we sat waiting for over 35 minutes at an empty table with empty water glasses. The server never returned to even refill water. The food was delivered to customers in inexplicable order. People who were seated 20 minutes after our food had been ordered received their dinners first. When our order finally came it was delivered with another table's order. How odd. More importantly, the food was so very mediocre. Unauthentic - we have lived in India for years, just as an aside. We have context. Cold - inexcusable. Very, very overpriced. We did address our disappointment with staff and were told it takes 35-40 minutes to make each dish individually. However, there are several very fine Indian restaurants in the metro area that manage to cook and serve delicious Indian fare in far less time. May we recommend the following: India's on Hampden. Very professional staff and excellent food. Sherpa House - Golden. Very personable staff. Comfortable, authentic atmosphere and excellent food. Namaste on Wadsworth. Wonderful, personable staff. Lovely food. Very fairly priced. more

The food is not worth the price 4/18/2011

The food was good in general, but the portions were very small and the prices very high. The bread basket which was supposed to contain three types of bread had bread which all tasted the same. The tipping point was being charged $8.00 for a regular sized beer. I would not go there again. more

STAY AWAY! DISGUSTING RESTAURANT! 4/7/2011

Ive eaten and worked at this place. I would never refer anyone here who wants indian food. Their kitchen is disgusting, cooks don't wear hair nets, dishes are never cleaned right the first time. Management and owners are money hungry people. They yell at employees in front of customers and enjoy treating their employees like slaves. STAY AWAY! more

Downhill 10/2/2010

We have been to India House several times in the past. The service was never outstanding but the food made it worthwhile. However, after last nights dinner, we will not go back. We made a reservation and called to push it later and they told us it was no problem. We arrived and were seated upstairs. After a few minutes the server took our drink order. A while later we were able to order (we were never brought the flatbreads). We were still waiting for our food and ordered a second round of drinks. The food finally arrived...but only half of it. No Nan...if you like Indian food then you know...the Nan is a big deal! I asked two people about it. After we were done eating our now cold food waiting for the Nan, the hostess finally brought us a basket with a piece of whole wheat and a piece of garlic Nan- we ordered plain. They obviously just grabbed some from the kitchen or (gross) leftover. Our second round of drinks didn't arrive until after we were done eating. They did take $15 off our check but that was small consolation. It was a Friday night and not very busy. Cannot understand how a downtown restaurant could be run so poorly on a weekend night. more

Very Satisfying, will be back! 2/19/2010

Pros: Food, taste, service and ambience Cons: Parking can be disfficult more

Excellent Chicke Tikka Masala 1/3/2010

I ate here this weekend and was able to talk the owner into taking me into the kitchen. Here he showed me the clay ovens, and talked me through their recipe for Chicken Tikka Masala. The Chef spends about 6 hours preparing the 2 base sauces for the CTM sauce. The end result is the best CTM I have ever had. The owner gave me some of the base sauces and clay oven baked chicken to take home where I was able to make my own CTM The food is very authentic and tastes great, combined with a modern decor, makes for a great meal! Pros: Great Tast Cons: Price more

Very Disappionting 8/8/2009

Having eaten at this restaurant on many occasions including when it was the Dehli Dharba my most recent experience negated each and every previous visit. Food was bland and less than mild. The appetizer was quite clearly reheated, the main course was beyond bland. when I complained to the manager he either did not understand or ignored my comments. The meal was removed and returned doused in some kind of cheap chilli source. I will never return to this establishment/ Pros: Downtown location Cons: Tasteless food more

BRAVO India House - Simply the BEST Indian buffet in Denver 3/30/2009

Being a fan of Indian cusine, I've dined at nearly every Indian restaurant in Denver. I don't usually take the time to write reviews, however, if you want to treat yourself to the best Indian food in DenverI you must try India House. Quality ingredients are essential and for my money, India House has the freshest and most robust. Cheers to the chef! The quality of the cusine is to be highly commended. The ambiance is what I would call ""Industrial Organic"" providing an engaging emergence of the ubane with traditional Indian motif. Contemporary Indian music appropriately adds to synergistic Indian dining experience. There's even a rarely seen ""Indian-stylized"" dumb waiter. The service was appropriately attentive, concise, knowledgeable and essentially outstanding. I recommend India House without any reservation. Pros: Freshest, savory ingredients, Industrial Organic Ambience, more

Great lunch buffet 3/10/2009

Anyone who loves a great indian lunch buffet has to try this place. I have eaten here and at Little India a bunch of times for lunch and must tell you that this place is WAY better than Little India. The buffet always has a bunch of items, and the quality is better. The dinner seems overpriced, but the food is very good, and the lunch buffet is a real steal. more

Worst Restaurant 2/20/2009

This place is disgusting. We saw something on the wall and they have horrible food. Our server was wonderful but the managment was outrageous. Get your act together or get out of Denver! I will never go back and food safety needs to take a look around. Pros: Nothing Cons: Gross food and horrible managment more

used to be passionate about their food 1/22/2009

I used to frequent their buffet for years, back in the dehli dar bar days even, but now I can't even bring myself in because all the things for a great eating experience are there but the food has lost it's appeal. It's like the staff is there but trying to prepare food as quickly and cheaply as possible for some unknown reason. It's disappointing to know that everything is there for success except the drive of the cook staff. Pros: Beautiful setting Cons: Parking and holiday romance brings in too much crowd more

Best Indian in Downtown! 10/28/2008

My husband and I have been frequenting India House since it was Delhi Darbar (back in the early 2000s). The food, atmosphere, and informative wait staff keep us coming back for more. I highly recommend the channa masala and dal tarka! Pros: Ambience, Quality of Food and Service Cons: Price more

Great food and atmosphere 10/5/2008

I loved the food (definitely try the samosa chaat as an appetizer!). Service was very friendly, but it took a very long time to get our food. Pros: food, atmosphere, location, friendliness Cons: long wait time for food more

Tasty food, slow service 9/5/2008

Definitely fabulous food! We started with the vegetable somosa. Great flavor. For dinner we chose TIKKA NAWAB and shrimp vindaloo for the main dish. We went with the plain nan, definitely get the garlic! Hubby ended with gulab jamun. He enjoyed it quite a bit, not the sweetest he's ever had but definitely yummy! Unfortunately the service was sub par. They appeared to be understaffed and over seated. Even with the back room up stairs no used. Our waiter was moving tables, seating people, running food, and eventually checking in on us! Luckily i love spending time chatting with my husband, but it was still a pretty long dinner! Pros: Wonderful food, Cons: slow slow service, overworked staff more
