Great authentic Indian 8/16/2008

Very good food and excellent menu choices. Romantic, cozy ambiance. Good wine selection, though I'd pass on the mixed drinks. Pros: the food! also good service and ambience Cons: parking, mixed drinks more

Best Indian Food Ever! 8/7/2008

This is by far the best Indian food you will ever have. We live in San Francisco with Gaylord's restaurant often listed as the best along side India House. Hands down, India House wins out. Every time we are in Denver our first night is spent eating at or taking out from India House. Cheers! more

The BEST Indian Food period!!! 7/29/2008

I'm not sure what some of these other folks are thinking or saying on here. I have been going to India House since I have been in Denver about 15 years. The restaurant had a different name but same owners and same great food as always!!! India House has the best Indian food in town and to me there really isn't a comparison. To have a great experience, plan on a couple of hours for dinner. Also, realize that you are downtown so plan for the parking situation. Don't go there starving because the food can take a bit to arrive especially on weekend nights. Order up some Samosas and drinks right away before dinner. Maybe even some naan and raita. If you are a fan of curry and you like shrimp, the Tikka Niwab comes highly recommended! When I go with my friends here, quite often everyone orders this dish. Don't go too spicy with the dish or it may lose flavor for heat. There are plenty of great choices at India House to accomodate everyone including many great veg dishes. The bottom line is...if you want to eat the best Punjabi-style Indian food that you've ever had, plan ahead and go to the India House. You won't regret it! Pros: The best Indian food I've ever had Cons: Parking, Don't be in a hurry! more

Excellent Food 7/27/2008

I have tried a number of Indian restaurant's in Denver and others cites and I keep going back to India House. I have been going there for at least 10 years and it never disappoints me. The food is excellent, the service good, and the atmosphere is very comfrotable. The Vindiloo is my favorite dish and is perfectly spiced to satisfy my need for varity, also the Tandori chicken is excellent. I have taken a number of friends and family with not one disappointment. Pros: Comfortable atmosphere, Outstanding flaovor more

A real dinning out nightmare 6/27/2008

I felt very sorry for our server she was very sweet and tried to help us the best that she could but it seemed that the kitchen couldn?t get their act together. First of all we had to endure an hour long wait to get just our appetizers and this was in an empty restaurant. When we asked for bread that was an additional 30 minutes along with our entries. When we finally received our food the presentation was horrible, it looked and tasted old and crusty and not to mention cold. For India house to call itself a full service restaurant is a plan joke. It is like the Burger King of Indian food except for the fact that it takes them an hour and a half to put out a dinner for two that even a dog would have trouble stomaching. In short I would not wish the experience of India House on my worst enemy. Cons: Bad Parking, Bad temp control, no manager presence, bad food more

A for Atrocious #2 1/12/2008

bad mannered behavior Cons: food, service, seating, temperature of food and dining area, valet horrible service more

Rudest management I have ever encountered - does not honor their debts. 1/10/2008

The seating was prompt, the service (waitress) was fine, the food was pretty good. The manager's level of customer service dumbfounded me - really, in an incredibly negative way. I had a $50 gift certificate that I received in April of 2006. It had an expiration date of July, 2006 (which I found ridiculous). Before going to the restaurant I called and told them I had an expired certificate and asked them if they would honor it. They told me to go ahead and bring it in. When we got our bill, I included the certificate with my credit card. I informed the waitress that it was expired, but I was told it would be honored. She said ""of course, no problem"". Two minutes later she came back to our table with the certificate in hand saying, ""I'm sorry - my manager will not allow this. It's too old."" I asked to speak to the manager. He came to the table and pointed at the expiration date. He then angrily said, ""where did you get this anyway!?"". I informed him that my brother gave it to me for my birthday and that he paid an honest $50 for it, that India House has been able to use for the past year and a half. I pointed out that the present value of that $50 is definitely greater than $50. He said, ""no, no, it's expired."" In the end, he agreed to give me $25 credit for the certificate. I am ABSOLUTELY APPALLED, and I will never return to this restaurant or recommend that anyone else does. Pros: Food is pretty good. Cons: Customer service doesn't exist. more

very bad & worst food - not recommended 8/6/2007

Today I went to this restaurant & it is not at all good. Food is very worst. Don?t order mutton briyani at any time. more

Best Indian Food in Denver 7/24/2007

For authentic North Indian food, go to India House - it's centrally located, very classily decorated, prides itself on great service and has really good Indian chefs from Punjab. My husband and I have tried many Indian restaurants in and around Denver - none of them can match India House in quality of food, service or even decor. My personal favorites are the saag paneer, garlic naan, and Punjabi chicken wings, my husband loves their thali and we both agree that their chai is the best available in Denver. An occasional problem - service can and will be slow if the restaurant is very busy. Look on the bright side - it's taking long because they are not trying to take any shortcuts... Pros: They'll cook it to your spice level and taste - just tell them what you're looking for. Cons: Parking can be a problem sometimes more

Best Indian food. Period! Nice staff, Good service (when they're not swamped with overbearing customers) wonderful atmosphere... 7/17/2007

The Vindaloo is killer Great! I have friends who travel regularly all over the world and they are always amazed at the fine quality of the India House cuisine. It is easily our favorite Denver eatery. You eat off of REAL bone china dishes, and if you like Indian spices, the food is spectacular! Lunch is nice and they have a buffet, but definitely try the dinner menu for a real taste of India. more

Terrible service, cold food- gross- AVOID THIS PLACE 5/15/2007

I went here for my birthday and was terribly disappointed. The service was pretty snooty, and the food was some of the worst Indian food I have ever tasted and I LOVE Indian food, so I have had a lot. more

AVOID BUFFET FOR SURE 4/12/2007

I should say the service was very lousy. There was only one server and she seemed to show no interests on the service. We booked a table for 10 for buffet on a saturday. There was no greeting and there was no tables together to seat 10 of us. Even before we started, the server informed as they will close the buffet by 2:30. There were just Naans(not hot), plain rice and couple of gravies. when we asked for a refill on the channa (which was too less), the server showed a surprising expression like do u need that?? Then the food was very stale and not tasty at all. the chicken gravy didnt have much chicken at all. They didnt refill the plates and took much time to clear the used plates on our tables. The server was most interested in sending us out than serving. It looks like they dont need this business. Pros: ??? Cons: Bad Food, worst service more

Fantastic Indian w/ a touch more class 2/18/2007

This is a place that actually matches its typically sharp looking LODO fascade. Well-designed dining room and great work in the kitchen too. Although service was a bit slow, all of the entrees were delicious. I especially liked all of the tandoori style entrees (had the sampler platter) and the Saag. It really felt like all of the dishes were at least above average. Highly recommended. Pros: Great food, Atmosphere, Tandoori Cons: Friendly but slow service more

great food, great service, great ambiance. 6/10/2006

worth noting: i am picky about my indian food. after having lived in london for several years and travelling to india, i would like to think i can pick out the good from the bad. the usual soggy, greasy ""indian"" food that you seem to find in the states just doesn't do it for me. it was my birthday and as i love indian food i decided to try india house since it had come with such great reviews. i was impressed, as were everyone i dined with - some of whom came to dinner saying ""i'm not so keen on indian food."" they have a great selection and everything is made to order so if you want something finely tunes on the spicy meter or certain vegetables put in/taken out, they are happy to do it without question. our waiter made an excellent wine recommendation for me, and as he heard in our conversation that it was my birthday, he even made sure that i got a birthday surprise in the form of kheer with a candle in it! more

Don't Pass This Up 5/18/2006

I have eaten at the Indian House numerous times and have not once had anything less than superb. The food is so good and satisfies every time. The wait-staff is very knowlegdable and courteous. There is a fully stocked bar, with a very nice wine list and a great bartender as well. If you love Indian food or have never had it before, you don't want to miss out on this excellent establishment in the heart of LoDo. This is the perfect place to kick off your night, with great food and drinks in a wonderful setting. Pros: Food, Service, Wine Cons: Parking, Busy Weekends, No Draft Beer more

Deelish! 3/29/2006

I've walked past this restaurant a hundred times but just went last night for the first time. It was outstanding! Pros: Great flavors!, Great Atmosphere! more

Go for the looks, not the food 12/24/2005

The food here is bland and timid. They try to make up for it by trying to make the place look high class. Black tablecloths and young attractive wait staff do not make up for bad food, at least not for me. more

My favorite Indian food in Denver 9/24/2005

This is some of the best Indian food I've ever had in a restaurant. Eat here and you'll pay a couple bucks more than some other places, but they will be the best couple of bucks you've spent in a long time. Service isn't perfect, sometimes too fast, other times too slow, but it's absolutely worth tolerating--once the food arrives, you'll be completely distracted. I like the atmosphere, but maybe just a bit too LoDo froo-froo. Pros: Great food more

Very interesting 8/6/2005

This is the first time I've tried Indian Food. The waitress was wonderful and very kind. I recommend the mango lassi (not the strawberry one), their quail dish and lamb dishes. I loved their rice. Pros: quail dish, mango Lassi, Service Cons: parking more
