Fraudulent jerks! 9/1/2011

My home warranty company, First American, sent these jerks to repair my AC. The guy from House Pro who arrived told me my thermostat was broken and it was a special type not covered by my home warranty. So, in other words, I would have to pay for it out of pocket. I stupidly trusted him without checking with First American first. So I paid him $250 for the new thermostat in addition to my $55 co-pay. Several months later, my other thermostat goes out and I call First American to make a claim, whereupon they inform me that ""thermostats are covered under my policy."" Suddenly, I realize that the stupid jerk House Pros sent defrauded me. He charged both me $250 and First American as well. Double dipped so to speak. First American reported House Pro to their Fraud division. I called House Pro and demanded refund of my $250, which they did within 4 days. They also informed me they had fired this particular contractor who had been apparently lying to customers. I also note that they encourage their contractors to try to push a ""maintenance contract"" on you at a ridiculous cost, by scaring you into believing that if you don't get one through them and something major goes wrong with your AC, you won't be covered. Now, thanks to these fraudulent jerks at House Pros, I always call an independent AC contractor to get an opinion on what is wrong with my AC first. It costs me $65, but at least when House Pros shows up again, I know exactly what is wrong and whether it is covered by my home warranty. If you have a choice, do NOT use House Pros. more

Horrible experience 8/25/2011

AC went out in Houston in August, so I called my home warranty people and they sent out House Pro. Got a 5 hour window, and a repair guy showed up. Was very unfriendly and in a big hurry. Went up in the attic, flipped one switch and deemed the motor gone. That was covered under the warranty, but he forced me to buy a cleaning service from them which is not covered, otherwise he was unwilling to put a claim into the insurance company. After several days of waiting, he got the new motor in with the ""clean"" fan and turned it on. Made a TON of noise. I asked him to fix it and he said that the new motor with the old fan is what is causing the noise, and that wasn't covered. I did not accept that answer, so he went back up and discovered that he did not align the fan correctly and that it was his rushing that caused the problem. Wouldn't call them back out if they were the last AC company in Houston. more

a team of installers finished replacing my condensor unit last week... and I must say the entire process was smooth and well done! and most importantly i am now cooling properly!! one of the installers forgot to install some grills in the upstairs, so the next day a manager stopped by to install it. Good follow up work! very happy. more

Almost didn't... glad I did... 8/16/2011

So I noticed my house was not getting as cool as it should and my energy bill made me sick to my stomach. Sure we have all been there before. So finally I got sick of it and started looking for a ac/ energy company. At first I was turned off to HousePro due to a few of the reviews. I had a couple other companies come out and give me some pretty shady offers to replace my system. So I decided to give House Pro a try.(THANK GOD) They actually came out and figured out that a duct had been detached cooling off my attic!!!! HOW DID EVERYONE ELSE MISS THAT??? They sent out two guys the very next day and sealed the problem duct and installed an attic tent. They knew what they were doing and did a great job... I just got a new energy bill and it seems to have done the trick. Made me want to give them props on helping me. Thanks House Pro ! more

house pro houston 6/28/2011

I had my 3 ac units inspected and when I looked at the AC inspection report I found that the tech did not service all the AC units. I had an AC leak within 2 months of inspection. These service guys are not techs they are sales men. I had to pay $199.00 extra to find the leaks. I negotiated this cost which made me very leary. Don't use this company. They was your time, money and you have to call someone else to fix your AC. more

Fake Reviews and Horrible Company! 6/4/2011

First, I own an internet marketing company and can tell when someone is loading reviews. Second, my daughter contacted her home warranty company regarding an air conditioning problem and they sent House Pro to fix. Repairman showed up and said, ""I don't have the tools to check the AC"" will come back Monday! Came back Monday, said coil is bad, we need to order it. Takes a few days. 4 days later my daughter calls and they say it was not ordered, home warranty co. needs to order! Call them and they said contractor must. Took two weeks, got both on conference call, finally contractor is supposed to order. On Tuesday 19 days since first call, said part would be in Friday, called back next day to say oops, we mean Saturday. Came out on Saturday 22 days since call and said blower is broken (it was working before they started working on unit) and they have to call warranty company on Monday to fix. Called House Pro office and told them they need to fix it today. Lady on phone said, well, even if we did fix the blower, we did not get all of the parts for the coil!! They were telling us we needed a blower instead of telling us they did not order all they needed. Total idiots. Girl became frustrated when daughter pointed it out to her. Daughter called warranty company and they said, ""they know we are open today (Saturday)!"" Warranty company called them and gave them approval. These guys break things, lie, lie again, lie to cover the lie. What a crock. Their good reviews come from their relatives or employees or the owner himself. more

This company really knows what they are doing. They know how to take care of your problems, the real issue is the home warranty companies that dont want to pay for anything, and people who always want something for nothing that is not the A/C companies problem. House Pro has my business for life........well, I called in late on a Thursday, and really did'nt expect to get a live person. Much to my surprise there was a real live person on the other end of the phone, and they were still in the office! She took my information, and scheduled me for the very next day. I was in shock! The technician came in the time frame they gave me, even called me about 20 mins before knocking on my door! He was friendly, knowledgable and so helpful! He had to order a part, which he said might take a few days, but he was able to do some sort of magic to get my unit to keep working until he could come back with the part. It was great, and it did'nt break my bank! He offered me a bunch of recommendations, and explained what they were for and would do for my unit and my home. The fact they are aware of the high energy costs and how to get around them is amazing! As soon as I can I plan to go green with my unit, and I will only do business with HOUSE PRO, the best! more

My A/C was out! I found HousePro online. I scheduled online. They came on time. Price was good. They were very complete. They covered both a/c systems, not just the one that was out. Jim was very patient with me, I'm not very mechanical, but he was great. He explained everything I needed to know to make a good decision. Both sytem are working better than ever. When the heat was on HousePro really came through for us. Are A/C went out and our friends told us about them. When they came out they just didn't fix and run. They went through both my entire systems which the previous company neglected to do. I had very leaky duct system and apparently was cooling my attic for years. No wonder my Electricity bill was so high. They real do much more than fix. Are bills went down the very next month... We have a maintenance program with them now. Bravo. Great work!\r . more

We have a 1930s bungalow in the Heights with add on master bdr. Various contractors have said we need two units to heat/cool adequately. After an in depth study to find inefficiencies, House Pro determined that we only needed one. They overhauled our duct work and installed a new unit. Pros: Scientific approach more

Beyond Disappointed 6/23/2010

Between the First American Homeowners insurance and this company, I don't know who I hate worse. I made a service call in the middle of May and now it's allmost July and I still don't have my ac unit replaced. Neither company really wants to take any iniative or responsibility. I've been very patient....I sincererly don't know how either of these 2 companies stay in business! And this is still unresolved. They make me sick. I want to fire everyone. How many times House Pro has been to my residence I don't know, but I have had to be personally involved in every single one of their visits to make sure the problems are rectified. They have rarely fixed the root cause of the problems, only treated symptoms, like clogged drains, for example. This means I have to call them back repeatedly for the same problem. Their technicians are all of differing skill levels and attitudes, which means you better hope you get a good one. Also, NEVER sign a maintenance agreement with them because it's worthless. They say they offer 10% discount on parts and labor and 24 hour service, but the 10% ends up being meaningless because of all the calls due to irregular service, and the ""24 hour service"" part of it applies to everyone who calls. It's frankly, a scam. Oh, and if you let them do a diagnosis on your home, expect to fail. This way they can replace everything you have with brand new equipment...which isn't covered in their service agreement either. Go figure. Pros: They know what an air-conditioner is. Cons: They often don't do a thorough job of fixing it. more

I had House Pro inspect the HVAC contractor that my builder chose. I had them inspect my house during construction to insure quality of install and proper equipment sizing. The service tech arrived on time and was very professional and polite. He was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything in detail. He even made some recommendations on other issues that I had not originally thought of. I was very pleased with the House Pro staff and service. more

Not just your average A/C Company. The Tech was clean cut, put shoe covers when he came in. He asked me a lot of questions and walked me through step by step of what we needed to fix. Very thorough diagnostic. Set me up with a maintenance plan to prevent problems and save me money on electricity. Polite, Honest and complete. I recommend House pro for sure!!! Pros: Clean, Fast, Complete Cons: none really more
