My wife and I were very pleased with the job performance of Jose Reyes team that installed in our house a new heater, new utility sink, and numerous valves. Removal of our old heater was physically demanding; fortunately, all members of the team were in great shape to carry out the efforts. Every team member was very skillful and materials used (tubing, fittings, valves) were of high quality. Gold Star Services, Inc should be proud of having such diligent plumbing professionals you. They start with cheap service call price , then once they look at it and take photo's they go out to the truck and send photo to office and give you a price about 50 times what it's worth. Watch out !! more

The two technicians that you sent are an asset to your company, but, I feel that I was ripped off for what I paid for two valves. I know what values cost and I have done work like this myself in the past. I know labor is involved, but you ripped me off with the price. I was in a bind and needed to be able to shut the water off. Gold Star was great. I had an emergency and the response was so fast. I called and within 2 hours someone was at my house. The two guys that came over were respectful and very friendly and even wore boot covers on their feet when they came in the house. I would definitely use them again! more

I recently went to Gold Star Service when I was in the process of selling my home, and was quite pleased with how well the services from them went. Though the full diagnostic was a little out of my price range, they were able to come out to take a look at everything, and let me know of any issues they were finding. Overall I thought the people from Gold Star Service were very friendly and helpful while they were here working, the work itself was done very well and in good time. When I realized I had to replace my sewer line and take on this big unplanned expense I was not happy to say the least. I brought in 5 companies and got estimates ... after meeting with Jose I knew GoldStar would be the choice. I've had people work in my house for 27 years -- in that time -- and I gave this some thought -- I never had anyone as nice, respectful, calm, reasonable and knowledgeable as Jose. The crew with Lucas and the other guys were great -- ladies in the office especially Lisa -- really nice and top notch customer service. They made this whole experience as painless as could be -- I really can't say enough nice things about this company -- one of the owners came to my house to observe and he introduced himself and was also really nice and personable. I recently went to Gold Star Services when I needed some repairs done in my home, and was quite pleased with how the work from them went. The people that came out were very friendly and professional while they were here working, and got the work that was needed done finished much quicker than I would have expected. The work itself was done well and without any issues, there haven't been any problems since the work was completed. Let me begin by saying this is the full story of my TERRIBLE experience with this company.. Please take the time to read it in its entirety before dealing with this most unethical potentially illegal sales process.. If I could give a ZERO I would have.. Spoke with a women who gave me her name as Gay... She told me that there was a service fee of $39.00 which I agreed to and Sent a repair man (Lucas) to my home who at 1st seemed genuine.. Lucas also made me aware of a service fee but stated it was $69.00 which was $30.00 more than Gay quoted but I also agreed to that as I really needed this repair.. I explained the problem with the system not regulating the heat on the 1st level of the house and he said he would take a look.. Once in the boiler room, maybe 5-10 minutes, he said he needed to do a "deep diagnostic" because he couldn't find the problem and asked me to agree to an additional fee of $421 but if I paid cash he would save me the tax. Also said that once the problem was found he would offer me some packages of repair! At this point I became concerned with this sales tactic and began to ask some questions.. In the end he was trying to get me to purchase repairs to my system at prices ranging from $1800 to $300 dollars.. Why would I want to purchase a package? I think that one would diagnose a problem than offer a dollar amount for repair including parts and labor? Maybe I'm wrong but this seemed pretty logical to me.. I paid the service fee of $69.00 and told him we couldn't continue on.. I called the main line back spoke to Gay she heard my concerns transferred me to a supervisor Lisa who told me that's how they do business and depending on my "economic situation" is how they base their repairs and packages!!! What?? that sounds very unethical I replied.. She said she would note the system of my concerns and that's all she would do.. I told her that this was not a way to do business and being in the customer service business myself, I would never treat customers this way.. We hung up and within 3 minutes my phone rang and it was Lisa the supervisor again, saying they would refund my $69.00..we hung up once again.. I Wasn't looking for the $69.00 as I agreed to pay that service, even though I was originally quoted $39 as I think it was fair.. What I ultimately wanted was my boiler fixed at a fair price agreed by both parties.. Needless to say I never received that refund.. Be very careful with these unethical sales tactics... Feel sorry for all those people who were taken by this company.. more

The positive - communication is very good. The office calls ahead of the arrival time and gives you the name of the plumber. They also send a text message. The negative - there is a charge for an estimate. They were completely up front about it and I agreed to it. Still rubs me the wrong way. When they arrived, it took all of 15 seconds for the plumber to show me a pre-printed price list for the requested service. This obviously could have been done over the phone and saved everyone time. The pricing had several "options." The lowest level of service was 2-3x a typical rate. At the high end of options, the same install was 5-6 times the typical rate. Insanely overpriced. I didn't even bother mentioning the other work I needed done in this and another house. I used a different plumber for the needed service - free. no obligation quotes and reasonable, market pricing. I cannot rate the actual service of this company, since their pricing was far too high to be considered. I would definitely recommend getting quotes from one of the many other plumbers who aren't afraid to quote jobs without charging.. more

Gold Star Service was just out recently to do an annual servicing for my business. They have come every year for about 3 years now. The prices are very fair as far as I'm concerned. They have different technicians who come out, but they are absolutely always friendly and respectful. They're a very reliable service as well. more

I generally do not write reviews however my dissatisfaction with this company can not be silenced. I called Gold Star to have them service my business. The pipes were clogged and sewage was coming up through my slop sink. Having had this problem in the past, I knew that a quick snake of the lines would solve the problem. Of course it was after hours (7pm) so immediately I was told that there would be a $250.00 emergency service fee. What was I going to do? I needed working toilets for business. The service man came around 9pm and "accessed" the situation. Basically he walked around and then told me he needed to call to get another guy to help? While we were waiting he drew up some estimates... Number 1: He could snake the lines and run a camera through that would be $1650.00 WHAT???? Number 2: He would snake the lines, no camera. $1100.00 (this guy is crazy) And number 3: snake the lines?? Im not even sure what he was going to do at this point. $800.00 All of these quotes of course were not including the original $250.00 for the "emergency" visit. I was blown away!!!! This was a routine fix and to quote such rediculous prices was something i couldnt even wrap my head around. In the end i paid the emergency fee and sent the guy on his merry way. I was not going to be taken advantage of. So in the end I paid 250.00 dollars for NOTHING!!!! I did call another company and one guy came prepared, snaked the lines and the entire cost was $195.00 If you are looking for a company to over charge and rip you off then Gold Star is the way to go. more
