scammers. scammers. scammers. i moved out in april and they billed me through may... then when the landlord didnt want to take over the bill. they kept sending late fees. they refused to acknowledge the issue (even though i contacted them several times) and refused to waive late fees even though they weren't mine! also... 6 threms of gas doesn't equal to $49.99. It's only $13... please explain the jacked up fees that I need to pay for the WHOLE neighborhood? Scammers! more

Predatory and deceitful 6/28/2019

Will over charge you by hundreds and hundreds of dollars, then promise to "send you a check" for the difference between what they forced you to pay for and the services actually provided. The check is never coming, they will lie as long as possible. Do not use this company. End your service and report them immediately if you're using them. I guarantee they are over charging you by at least $1.00 a therm. more

Avoid these predatory scum bags! 3/9/2019

Have been a customer for 7 years and did not get contract renewal so we had 2 months at 3-4x normal rates making our bill go from avg. of about 75.00 per month to 250.00 per month!!!!! more

Gas South BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!!! 12/6/2017

My service was disconnected after I made payment arrangements.Then when I paid the bill set up a time to have the service turned back on I waited and called them they told me that the tech was in route. I never heard a knock at the door or a call. This is bull I have a child and a dog in a 40f outside just think about in my home. I'm very upset and disappointed with Gas South!!!!!! more

Predatory Rates, deceptive business practice 12/5/2017

Horrible Company, Gas South is a company run by corporate thugs. The rates are outrageous and predatory, you get your bill along with a threatening letter, threatening to ruin your credit and shut off you gas, mind you a week before the bill is due. I don't need a crystal ball to tell me class action lawsuit is in this company's future, its disgraceful how these utility companies in the south, are allowed to operate like thugs. No customer service and lies! 8/21/2017

They made a data entry mistake and disconnected our service with no notice on Friday. At first they admitted the mistake and said they would reconnect the service early Monday morning. no show - no call. I call and then I am told it was me who made the mistake, and I would have to wait an extra day or two. When I explained that they had already owned up to the mistake, I was accused of lying. I am changing out of this no-service provider as soon as I can. Thank God it wasn't the dead of winter. They are shameful and shameless. Don't give your money to these terrible people. more

They don't care about the customer 5/24/2017

I had a horrible experience. When I called to enquire as to why my gas had not been turned on, they could not have cared less and cast the blame on Atlanta Gas Light. I'm not paying Atlanta Gas Light, so it should have been Gas South's responsibility to fix the problem, and they were not willing. So I will be using someone else from non on. more

Bad customer service they do not deliver 3/10/2017

I have been with Gas South, too long, they have a lousy customer service based. One of the agents signed me up for the so called "pick your perks", which was suppose to be free Fandango tickets. I called to inquired on them since I never received them, and they told me it was mailed out around December 12, 2016. I never did receive the tickets. I have decided to go to another company. they do not provide good service, one of the employees who name is Kim stated she was a supervisor, and she promised to call me back Wednesday March 8, 2017, and she never did, she would not give me her last name. more

Gas South is a horrible company that steals from the people of Georgia. I had been a customer of Gas South for over 3 years until March 1st of this year. Back in February my bill was abnormally high (about $200 higher than normal) so I looked closely at my bill and realized I was on their "variable rate" instead of the fixed rate I had originally signed up for. I called them and was initially told I would still have to pay the full amount due. When I pointed out that I had been getting ripped off since May 2013 and I actually did the math and realized it was almost $2000 difference in what I would have paid from the fixed rate I had initially signed up with as opposed to the variable rate they had put me on without my knowledge or consent, they relented and gave me a credit. I told them I would like to be placed back on the fixed rate and I thought all was well. Then I get my bill for February service and it is again at the variable rate and I was over charged $178 (the difference from the fixed rate to the variable rate). Again, I call and email Gas South and they tell me there is no record of me calling and switching the rate and they ask me for the phone number I called from. I go through my phone records and give them the date, the exact time of my call, and the length of my phone call with them and they still refuse to correct my bill and give me the fixed rate price. So I adjust the bill myself and pay the fixed rate amount and cancel my service and switch to Scana, knowing I will still have one bill remaining with Gas South. Then I get my final bill yesterday from Gas South and again, still at the variable rate, still showing the $178 that I did not pay from previous bill (with a $10 late fee charge added), and my bill yet again $121 more than what it should be for this final month. So yesterday I again email and let them know I will be paying my bill (which I did) at the fixed rate amount and that the $121 over charge would not be paid. more

Gas South has horrible customer service and their system gets hacked. you cannot pay with a card more than several times because they're afraid somebody will take your information never heard of that from a company that provide utility service. be warned more

misrepresentation 10/27/2014

Gas south lies to customers about the pay as you go option for those with challenged credit. If you been denied by another company they say they will help but they run your credit and say no. They use non profit organization names including United Way that through these organization they have brought the pay as you go option which allows you to pay 1 month of service upfront... To me that is a deposit but then they say no deposit for service???? DONT BE A VICTIM!!! more

Use any company except them 3/10/2014

This company is just terrible all the way around. I was a customer for six years, never had a problem until they applied my payment to a closed account. I have never had a utility shut off on me before until this unprofessional company made a mistake on their end. I made the payment from my bank's bill pay to Gas South. I have been doing this for at least four years. But on this one occasion they apply the payment to a closed account. How is that even possible? I call them after I find out that my gas has been shutoff. They immediately see that I made my payment. I ask them what are they going to do about getting my service restored, they tell me it will take five business days to reconnect my service which should have never been disconnected. Gas is gas, all the companies in GA use AGL pipes. When you choose a natural gas company what you are paying for is the service. Gas South has terrible customer service and shady business practices. I have vowed a blood oath to never give them any of my money ever again and to tell everyone I know about what happened to me and my family. I will never forget the six days in March that me and had to go without heat. Did I mention that I have two young children, this company is just a notch below the devil and Hitler. I gave one star because that is the lowest I can give, they deserve negative ten stars. more

Terrible Customer Service 7/15/2013

I wouldn't recommend Gas South. Their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. Our fixed rate contract expired and we were told there were 3 ways to renew it: by mail, online or by phone. Online didn't work so we did it by mail. They "never received it." Then when you call, you are put through customer no service. more

DON'T USE THEM 4/8/2013

To keep it short and simple. they are very unorganized, kept sending the bill to the wrong address, and now I get a letter 2 months after i moved out that I was till using their services because they didn't take the hint to discontinue the services when i told them to. An extra $60+ that i am getting charged because of their ignorance. more

I don't know what's up with this company. First off; the customer service is HORRIBLE. I signed up for service to start on the 14th of November of this year. Here I am the day before Thanksgiving and I still don't have any service. The rep is telling me in their system it says my gas in on; but I had a maintenance man from my leasing company out today to light the gas pilot and he's looking at the meter and he can see the service is NOT ON. So they give me a four hour window of when a tech is suppose to come to turn it on. Needless to say; THAT NEVER HAPPEN and the bastard had the nerves to lie and said he came. Where is the NOTICE that most utility companies leave when no one is home. Me and my girl wasted a whole day sitting around waiting on them. Now these bastards are trying to stiff me with a $60 fee claiming if the service is on when they come; I will be billed. WELL IT'S NOT. My heat don't work and my gas oven isn't working; so turn it on ALREADY!!!!! more

disconnection fees 7/24/2012

My wife found a better deal with a different gas company and when she closed her account with gas south they billed us a $100.00.. watch out. we havent paid them in 3 weeks and we are getting calls allready that they will send it to collections. But its not a person calling its the computer where you cant tell it to stick it.... more

rip off 4/9/2012

nothing but problems, after over 1 year we stopped getting bills then the gas was turned off and we were told we had an illegal gas meter running by agl. they charged for the shut off and to turn it back on even though the accout was paid. then again no bills and they charged 31 bucks for usage on a house that no one was in and no usage plus then they charged a 100 disconnect fee as we dont get the bills. we get hung up on when trying to call NEVER EVER use them all liers and crooks more

Worst Gas Company Ever! 2/6/2012

I was out of town for an entire month, yet my bill was much higher than the previous bill. Very strange given the month that I was out of town, the temperature was much warmer than it was for the previous month. What a rip-off! Wish I could give it 0 stars. Never had these problems when I was with Scana. more

Stay Away 6/22/2011

Received my first bill and paid online. Received an e-mail 2 days later that payment had not gone through due to an invalid account number. I guess I entered a digit wrong, so I went back online and paid the bill. My payment was accepted, but a few days later I received a notice that I was being charged a $25 returned check fee and that any further returned checks would result in me having to prepay for gas service. Called customer service to beg forgiveness for fat fingering a digit in my account number and just got a robotic answer that fees could not be removed. more

WORST gas marketer...BEWARE!!! 5/11/2011

VERY poor customer service, including disconnecting the call mid-conversation, management that do not assist or express any concern for issues, etc. Their fax machine does not work, and they claim that they never receive anything after multiple confirmation-sent messages on my part from two different fax machines. Requested them to check their fax machine for receipt of document and their customer service agents expressed that they didn't know who to transfer me to as they were not on the same side of the room as the fax machine. Gas was cut-off in error as they were crediting a different account every time a check was mailed to cover a bill, of course they claim a notification of disconnect letter was mailed but it was never received. No other communication of non-payment was attempted after 2 months of service, so of course our gas gets cut-off in error and we have to suffer for their mistake. They never once apologized or offered any type of concern for our sacrifices the 7-day period we had to endure without stove/oven/hot water to bathe, cook, clean clothes/dishes, etc. all while family was spending more time at home than usual due to illness. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! more
