Unusual ingredients 7/25/2006

We had been waiting a long time to eat here, this was our 3rd try at a reservation that wasn't 10p.m. or later - and we were calling 3-4 weeks in advance. I was initially disappointed when I saw the menu; in addition to a handful of ingredients that were a mystery, nothing seemed to jump out and grab us. Knowing their reputation though, we figured everything would taste great. The food was incredible (really enjoyed the meatball in broth) and the wine list had too many options for our own good. The tables are rather close together, don't count on an intimate conversation. This restaurant is consistently rated as the top place in Denver/Boulder. While we had a great evening here, being from the southern metro area I cannot say we would go out of our way to return here. I would rather return to other places in Denver (like Mizuna/Luca D'Italia, Zengo,Rioja or Highland Gardens) Pros: unusal food combinations, wine list Cons: noisy, cramped and idifficult to get a decent reservation more

Don't quite understand the hype 7/17/2006

I took my boyfriend to Frasca for a romantic birthday. We went for one of those Monday night 3 course meals paired with wine. I will say that it is a very elegant space, and the service is professional, though they lack the personal flare. Our server didn't seem to really care about us, though for the most part, he did his job. Maybe it's becase we look young? We ordered an estra appetizer to go with our meal, and never recieved it. After the first course arrived, our server remembered, though he never asked if we still wanted it, and never brought it to us. We were not impressed with the wine for the evening AT ALL, though were impressed with the wine list. We would have definately had a better experience if we had had our choice of the wine. I know this is the price you pay for a pre-fixe meal, but I was dissapointed that the sommellier would have allowed such mediocre wine. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to talk my boyfriend into going back... I am very happy that so many others have had such positive experiences. Pros: Ambience Cons: Mediocre Service more

Best in Show 7/11/2006

Definetely the best dining experience in Denver/Boulder area for a special occasion. Would love to dine here everynight, but you'd need to make reservations 2 months in advance. Everything we've ever had has been fantastic, and I've even had dishes here that I would have never thought of trying (mushrooms, fish, etc.) and all has beeen fantastic. Excellent food, WINE, and service. Pick a special date, bring $$$ and go. You won't regret it! We like going around 8:00 or later, as it gives the dining room time to clear out a little and calm down some. Pros: Wine, Lovely Food Cons: Make reservations 2 months before you want to go more

Food is averate 3/27/2006

I am a regular at this restaurant. There is nothing negative I have to say about the Service, People and Wine. While eating here so often together with my experience in food, Frasca's foods did not give me the ""wow"" factor. The food is okay. The main reason why this restaurant is booked and crowed is the service of Steve, the MS Bobby and Nate. The key here is that the restaurant is selling wine and service but the food. Bobby, Matthew and Nate give you the good and different taste even with average food cuz they recommend to you such a good wine...so good wines count. Steve is awesome... Restaurants should learn from Bobby is selling good wine and pairing regardless how average the food taste... Pros: Excellent Wines, Service, People Cons: Average Food, Average Food, Improve on Food more

Prix Fixe was wonderful 12/5/2005

I went to Frasca on my birthday in October. It happened to be the night for their Prix Fixe menu. I chose to have the wine pairings with the menu as well. The food was absolutely fabulous and the wines were paired perfectly with the various courses. My girlfriend and I truly enjoyed the evening and we would definitely go back for another girl's night out! Thanks so much for the wonderful service, food and ambience. You made my birthday very special! Pros: Food, Service Cons: Price, Crowded parking more

Overall, probably the best restaurant in the state. As simple as that. more

Fantastic! 4/11/2005

Great & knowledgeable staff! Great and creative flavors! A little noisy. A little cramp. Nice decor. Recommend reservations even in the middle of the week! I'll be back with friends and customers. more

sublime dining 3/23/2005

a standard setting restaurant for the denver/boulder scene. we received exceptional, but not intrusive service from the arrival to departure. the waiter was knowledgeable, but not arrogant, entertaining, but not obnoxious. the food was creative and well presented, with intricate flavor and well placed colors. i would recommend the spinach and garlic soup to start, the risotto as an intermezzo, and the ""stuffato"" meatball as an entree. trust the sommelier and the staff as well to provide effective and delightful wine pairings. no need was left unattended. we had a tremendous meal in a lovely room given by a talented and educated staff. you must try Frasca to see what dining in denver and boulder can be. Pros: service, atmosphere , menu and wine list Cons: somewhat cramped more

Spectacular 3/11/2005

I've had few dining experiences as good as this one, and I eat out a lot. We had four starters (total overkill, but it all sounded so good - and it was!); pate, big eye tuna, a 1/2 order of the gnocci and foie gras (gluttony!). All were superb (and of special note, the gnocci, something that can be boring was delicious and complex). For dinner, we had the lamb, snapper and veal. Everything was done to perfection; taste, plating, portions there's a nice change) and service. Topping off the night with a cheese board and the 'peanut butter cup' (wow-who knew you could make peanut butter foam??) really was the icing on the cake. Make sure your wallet is full when you come, but you will not regret what you spend! Pros: Delicious, Ambience, Service Cons: Reservations difficul more

One of the best around. 2/26/2005

Frasca's urban-style dining room is not huge, but comfortable. We stared with the fresh sliced Salumi served with a mild horseradish sauce and the Country Duck Pate with onion relish; both were very good. For our entrees we chose the Chestnut Agnolotti with Smoked Bacon and Celery Root Broth (delicate, yet rich and buttery), and the Bouler Pine Slow Roasted Lamb Saddle with Caramelized Potatoes, Black Trumpet Mushrooms and ""Sugo Naturale"" (very fresh and well presented). The service was truly exceptional! The sommelier was knowledgeable, friendly and informative and helped us navigate the lengthy and reasonably-priced wine list. For dessert we tried the decadent ""peanut butter cup"" and a pineapple & hazelnut torte served with coconut ice cream; simply delicious! Can't wait to go back! Pros: Exceptional Service, Creative Dishes Cons: Parking more

Best in Boulder! 2/15/2005

Wonderful food, incredible service, and the wine pairings were perfect. We dined at Frasca on one of the busiest dining days, Valentines Day, a true testiment to the restaurants efficiency. The food was cooked perfectly, we were not rushed in any way, and the servers were very attentive. There was a set menu, but you had a choice between two items for every course. The decor was elegantly simple, yet romantic. Be sure to make reservations, we called a month ahead and they only had two times left (although it was a holiday). Definitely one of the best meals we've had in Boulder/Denver! Pros: Great food, Wine list, Service Cons: parking more

This was incredible!! 2/13/2005

We eat out a lot - and this was one of the best experiences we have had in a long time. It was busy, so we sat at the bar, and the wine pairings and information we got from the bartender about the meals and the wine were outstanding. Truly awesome! Pros: Wine, Creative, True to roots Cons: Costly, Busy more

exquisite 1/24/2005

The best meal I have ever had in Boulder, possibly even NYC. We walked in without reservations and were immediately seated at the dessert table which made it impossible to walk out without trying the chocolates. Each course was better than the last. By far the best chocolate in town. Pros: food, service, location more

Exceptional 12/12/2004

Frasca is perfect for special occasions. The service is fantastic, and the food is even better. Make sure to make a reservation - when I called, they were booked a week out! Pros: Huge Wine List, Terrific Cuisine, Great Service Cons: , A bit small, in Demand! more
