I felt that I had to counteract some of the less positive reviews on this website. First, let me tell you some of the things you should know about the Riviera before you book your stay (I knew these going in, so I wasn't disappointed):\r \r 1) The Riviera is on the north Las Vegas strip. What this means is that you're a 10-minute bus ride to the south (newer) end of the strip.\r 2) The Riviera is one of the older hotels on the strip.\r \r Knowing these two things before you get to the hotel are very important before booking your stay at the Riviera. You will NOT be in the middle of the action like you had stayed at Caesar's Palace, nor will you experience the extravagence of a newer resort hotel like the Bellagio, but neither of those are necessarily a bad thing. The cost is right on for what you get and, if you plan on gambling, the Riviera has some of the lowest table minimums that you will find on the strip.\r more

had a room in the Mediterranean Tower across from Poker room on the 9th floor. Sure its an older smaller place, but I find its well kept and easy to negotiate . My room had a King bed with small 20"" TV, table and chairs. It was all in very good condition and clean. The bathroom was small but good water pressure and very clean. The room had a safe and small fridge. Casino was not too busy but a good place to play low-key poker. Pool was warm. They have an ABC store in the hotel that sells beer and stuff. Good Thai restaurant and food court beside the obvious buffet and steak house. I rent a car so the location was not a problem and parking is easy. Staying here is not a concern when I visit Vegas. VINTAGE VEGAS! more

We went to the Riviera to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary. We've been going there for years and have always stayed and played at the Riv. This was our second trip to the Riviera this year. From 7/24 thru 7/29 we had a wonderful time! Didn't go anywhere but there. Everyone was exceptional, especially our Host, Jim. He was at our every beck and call (if needed) - he made reservations at Kristopher's Steak House for our anniversary day (25th) and everything was absolutely wonderful. Although the machines didn't like my husband and I very much we still enjoyed our 4 days at the Riv. \r \r We're planning our next trip for the Superbowl Party in February (fingers crossed) but will definitely be going in early June to celebrate my birthday and my best friends wedding anniversary who stayed at the Riv for that! Yeah!!\r \r We just love this older Hotel & Casino due to its history. I pray it stays and doesn't get caught up in all the conglomerates throughout Las Vegas.\r \r The Monte Carlo Tower is where we always stay in the Riviera. The rooms and bathrooms are very spacious and super clean (thank you to the cleaning gals).\r \r Hope my review has helped you....and I look foward to seeing you all at the Riviera!\r more

This property has received a great deal of negative publicity.\r I don't understand why.\r \r Yes the RIveria's overall appearance pales in comparison to properties like the Venetian, Wynn and Paris. Yes, the location on the northern end of the strip places this property away from the higher concentration of properites on the southern end. where entertainment options are far more plentiful. Yes, the buffet is lousy and overpriced .\r \r Many write that the staff is unfriendly and uncooperative. My response to that is as follows: If you immediately take and maintain a hostile posture to a situation that you feel is a mistake made by the property, it matters not what they attempt to do to correct the problem, you will always see these individuals in a negative and harsh light..\r \r That being said, I found everyone I encountered and spoke to , front desk personnel , a front desk shift manager, housekeeping, the associate who stood outside the front desk serving as a ""greeter,"" observing personnel who had completed their shift, but still in uniform ,continuing to assist the hotel guests who approached them with questions who were , attentive who gave a damn You just have to make start that first encounter with a friendly hello. Amazing the dividends it can repay to you.\r \r My reservation called for one room with a king bed and two rooms with 2 double beds .Upon arrival the hotel had set \r aside 2 rooms with king beds and 1 room with a double bed. SURPRISE, the front desk clerk APOLOGIZED and immediately corrected this discrepency with absolutely no delay. \r \r Our rooms in the recently renovated South Tower, were clean, bathroom supplies plentiful, sufficient hot water for showers adequate water pressure (remember water is such a precious commodity in Vegas) working television, thermostat in the rooms that allow the guest to set the temperature to their personal liking, rooms cleaned in a timely matter.\r \r If you want to look out your hotel window to see something that offers some ""special view"" of the STRIP or downtown, or if some ""high"" threadcount number of the pillow and bedding is important or perhaps that complementary ""fishwrap"" or coffee and danish is provided as room service anexercise room with the latest state of the art equipment so one can work out to offset the negative effects of the prior evening's excessive eating and drinking, then the Riveria is not the place to stay. Otherwise for what the Riveria charges it's guest for a night's stay, and what one gets in exchange for that consideration, this property is one of the BEST OVERALL VALUES ON THE STRIP, AND THE STAFF IS ATTENTIVE AND FRIENDLY. JUST RETURN SAID CONSIDERATION !!!!\r more

The staff and management were great! We were registered early and without incident. The rooms had been recently remodeled and we found them to be neat, clean and very, very appealing. We ate most of our meals at most of their restauraunts and we found them to also have a great staff and excellent food. The cocktail waitresses were always available and pleasant in the gaming area and the entertainer singer ""Mark"" also added a pleasant and enjoyable experience in and around the slots. We also enjoyed the Commedy Club and the La Cage show at the Riviera. I have been to La Cage twice and wife wife has enjoyed it 3 times. We can't say enough good things about te Riviera! We were humbled by their hospitality and thoroughly impressed with the accomodations. I highly recommend the Riviera for its accomadations, staff and location. Thank you Riviera! more

I had an absolutely abhorring experience here, this ""hotel"" is scary dangerous and unsafe! I was continually harassed catcalled with degrading remarks BY HOTEL EMPLOYEES! I filed a report with ""security"" who was untrustworthy and physically pushed me around. Please be safe and don't stay here! Some of my belongings are missing and they have been so far unsuccessful. I have not been refunded for the unused portion of my stay and surprise surprise they're being completely uncooperative. STAY AWAY!! Pros: Comfie Bed Cons: Got beat up by security more

I've been to Las Vegas several times & have stayed at Monte Carlo, Caesar's, Lady Luck, & Luxor. The Riviera was the worst starting w/check in services & people to the time we checked out. I hope it gets blown away! The people were so unhelpful when we checked in w/my parents on their first visit to Vegas. I was actually told by the hotel clerk to check in w/someone else because it was 10min til she was off duty. I suggested she hurry then to check us in. Although we asked for non-smoking rooms they were already given away. We had to stay one nite in a smoking room then the next day we had to move. Very inconvenient. I feel the total layout of this hotel/casino is just awful. The restaurants avail on site were bad too, the main cafe was usually too crowded to stay & their snack bar was usually closed whenever we tried to get a hotdog. Roomservice was a 2hr wait. We tried their lunch buffet, the quality of the food reminded me of National Lampoon's Vegas Vacation scene where the beef is blue and chicken green. Just terrible. No one here is interested in your accomodations. Only to register you in their loser clubs. I never recommend this hotel to anyone! Again, I hope it gets blown away, terrible rooms, service & food! We stayed @ the Riviera for a weekend and we had a great time. The beds were OH-SO-COMFY after a 7 hour trip and they did everything they could to accomodate us after a very late arrival. The casino was cheaper than the other fancier ones along the strip and the drinks were decently priced. The only con I can find to this place is that it's a bit confusing to get from the parking structure to the hotel registration, but everything else was great. Pros: Staff Cons: long and confusing walk to check-in desk more

So it isn't as fancy as the other end of the Strip, certainly, it is a bit older, both in clientele and environment, but we had fun sitting there playing blackjack. Most of the dealers were friendly, they had some entertainment going on right there in the casino. And yes, it was a little bit cheaper to play than at other places on the Strip. more

We stay at the RIV at least once a year. For the money (join the slot club), you cannot do better. Not the fanciest, but it's as nice as the best Holiday Inn you ever stayed in and the staff are mostly the best, if not the youngest!!!! Tackey shows and an OK, new buffet. We stay & play........usually go elsewhere for shows (except headliners). Pros: Easy slots, Room cost, ADULTS - few kids!! Cons: Location to "action", So-So buffet more
