We were handed The Riviera by Priceline's name-your-own-price lottery, and when I read the reviews on this board I was afraid, very afraid. But like a turd on your floor that turns out to be chocolate, we loved the place. Registration upgraded us to a King without us even asking, and the room was clean and efficient ... for $30 a night this was a deal. The top layer of the cake, icing and all, is the fun conventions and entertainments that the Riviera hosts. Both the SASS conventions (everywhere people dressed as old time western characters) and the Sin City Roller Derby meet (go grrrrls!) were staged the weekend of our arrival. This goes on *because* the Riviera is faded ... it's cheap enough that organizations can make use of it, unlike the mega ca$ino$ further down the strip. And on that note, location is the one thing that's a bit of a bind. Count on a 30 minute walk to Caesar's Palace and beyond, but hey, you'll end up thinner than most people you find there.
