Love it! 2/17/2009

I am a current customer at Dee's and my dog absolutley LOVES IT!!! I love how they have a large indoor area and a bigger outside area! The employees there are very respectful and know what they're doing. I would recommend this dog daycare/boarding establishment to anyone!!! Pros: great play areas, wonderful service Cons: none : ) more

A FORMER EMPLOYEE 2/3/2009

As as former employee, i can tell you exactly what goes on at dees. If your dog is hurt or sick DO NOT take Dee or her husbands explanation of what happened! They flat out lie to customers so that they can cover themselves.Alsothe play area walls get cleaned once every 6 months or so. Yall should also know that if you want your dog to be fed twice a day it wont happen even if the front desk tells you they will. They also allow aggressive dogs to continue to come if a. the customer is personal friends with dee b. the customer has lots of money or if the customer has dirt on the owner or the facility. This is not just a disgruntled employee but someone who wants the public to know what happens at dees doggie den. Cons: Lies, unsanitary more

Great Doggie Daycare and Overnight Accomidations 12/15/2008

My girls (Hilde - a doberman & Jazzy - a rottie mix) have visited a couple of different doggie daycares before I found Dee's Doggie Den. Before ""the girls"" had their first stay with Dee's I stopped by and was given a tour by the friendly staff. I found the place to be clean and all the dogs were getting along well hanging out in the play areas. I love the suites and the girls love to stay there anytime they are available. However, even when they are unable to stay in a suite the large run is big enough for both of them to stay together. ""The girls"" love Dee's and can barely contain themselves when we pull up. The staff is wonderful and very attentive to the dogs and their different level of petting needs. I would recommend this daycare to all my friends and family. Pros: Great hours for drop off and pick up. Love the webcams! more

Has been a great and convenient place for seven years! 10/7/2008

We met Dee when we took a 6mo old Rottweiler we rescued from an abusive neighbor because Hillside Vet would not touch him ? dirty, sickly and aggressive. Dee cleaned the sores that the feces had left, shaved him and gave him a bath. Although new as dog owners, we were prepared and did have the records of his shots. This should be the first question they ask ? you are responsible to be prepared with this info. Dee will even give them their Bortadella if needed. We have left Scooby and Lola at day care and overnight in the old & new locations where water is always present and it is air-conditioned! Ms. VA forgot to mention the air-conditioning. The new location offers a unique outdoor play area with soft astro-turf and drainage so it can be hosed down and is always clean. Better than Mockingbird or Bark Park by far. The interior open play area smells bad because dogs poo and urinate in there. But the one critic who gagged at the smell is overreacting, unrealistic and definitely has never been to the Dallas Shelter. The fecal matter is picked up and I have never found fecal matter on our dogs when they are picked up. The dogs are fed, watered and have space to run around, right in the middle of Dallas. Those with the negative comments are not being fair. The person who toured the place before bringing their dog acts as if there was a conspiracy and they suddenly changed the place on them. The chaotic comment is accurate at times, but what do you expect with a rush a people dropping off/ picking up their dogs at the same time. \r \r Scooby and Lola at 110lbs and 80lbs seem happy to be with other dogs, are taken care of and when bathed it is done perfectly. I would like to see another place do this with a 110lb Rottweiler who doesn?t like people. We give Dee?s a perfect score and have for over seven years. more

My dog's favorite place! 10/3/2008

When I'd first heard of dog daycare, I was amused. Now, I'm addicted. The first time I left my dog at Dee's, he whined as we were leaving the parking lot! He's a high energy border collie mix, and the exercise he gets at Dee's is invaluable. \r \r While my dog tends to be a ""momma's boy,"" the minute he gets inside the front door, he completely ignores me. I love taking my dog to Dee's and he loves being there. Pros: Open early, open late. Employees friendly and love my dog. more

Good Experience Until We Got Home 9/29/2008

We took our two dogs to Dee's and didn't have any problems at first. We toured the facility, and everything looked clean. The dogs looked content. We had no problem leaving them there. During our vacation, we checked the webcam frequently. The first thing that we should make note of is the number of dogs in one space. Throughout the day, it is EXTREMELY crowded in the play area. It didn't look like a dog park type atmosphere. The second thing that we realized is that on Sunday, because of the hours, the dogs barely have any time out of their kennel. We didn't see them in the common area until noon. This means that the dog's are in their kennels from seven at night until noon. (A long time for a dog who is trained not to urinate inside) When we got back in town, we picked up the dogs and went home without trouble. The next day, I took my youger dog (6months) out for a walk. Now, to understand the problem, you have to understand my dog's personality. He is the happiest pup you could meet. If a burglar came into our house, he would probably wag his tail and lick him. He rarely barks and I had never heard him growl. During our walk, whenever a jogger or bike rider came within ten yards of us, He growled and barked. This happened for the entire hour long walk at least 20 times. I have since trained the behavior away, mostly... Now as to what happened to create this behavior in my dog, I do not know. I can say that when dogs walked by, he was not freaking out or growling at them. It was only people. I really hope that it is just a reaction to the stress of us leaving or something like that, but I am really not convinced that even makes sense. It would really upset me to learn that someone could do something to an undeserving puppy. We do not plan on leaving our dog's at Dee's again or ever recommending it to anyone else. more

great location but needs improvement 8/29/2008

I have taken my dog here about five or six times. Somet hings just don't seem right. Yes it's true what others say about the owner, who is often behind the counter. She is not the most warm or gracious person. But I don't take my dog somewhere based on the proprieter's personality or lack thereof. My concerns about this place began after I spent more time there. The outside lobby/general client drop off area is nice and was always clean, which left a nice impression with me. But as I got more familiar with the place and started to be in the back area (where the dogs are), I got uncomfortable about the following:\r \r 1. No other way to say it -- it smells awful back there. I have had to hold my nose so I wouldn't gag a couple of times it was so bad. Certain areas seem unsanitary. The clean cheerful world ends the minute you cross through the doors out of the public area.\r 2. On several observations, it became clear to me that the dogs in ""daycare"" or play time seemed stressed and nervous instead of like they were having fun. In addition to them pacing, or running along the wall anxiously, almost all of them were barking like crazy. Definitely not a peaceful environment. I didn't see any of them playing with each other. They just seemed worried. The staff on the floor, supposedly playing with the dogs, looked unhappy and distracted as well and weren't interracting with the dogs at all.\r \r 3. Not always, but on some days, there seemed to be way too many dogs contained in those daycare areas for any animal to have a good experience.\r \r 4. Over time, my dog stopped wanting to go inside and would actually resist and fight going in the door, which supported my niggling concerns. \r \r I give it two stars because, although I found somewhere else that doesn't give me or my dog any of these worries, if you're in a real pinch for a day or so, it might work. for you They do offer a webcam service so you can observe your dog in certain areas. more

Dee's Doggie Savior! 8/19/2008

What a great new location! The space, the suites, the web-cams, such a great facility right here in our area, there's nothing else like it! Ricco is a feisty guy and tough for me to brush much less groom, so that I can take him somewhere for a makeover when my kids think he's stinky is such a great relief! The day-of-play gives him that social activity and the grooming just gives him a fresh makeover everytime. Thanks for staying closeby Dee! Pros: Close, reasonable prices, long-standing reputation, feeling great about my dogs caree! Cons: That I can't get a grooming makeover there too! more

Horrible, all the way around.... 8/11/2008

I reecently took my two dogs to Dee's Doggie Den to get groomed. I am new to the area and found this place on the internet. When I arrived, Dee (the owner) asked for their shot records. I did like that these records were needed, but I was not informed of this before hand. I said I had their rabies tags along with their vets number, so she could call. After making me feel like I had done something wrong and giving my a horrible attitude for no reason at all, she called the vet and it took all of 1 minute to get the information. Throughout this altercation I said, ""Just forget it, I will take them somewhere else you are making me feel like I have done something wrong."" She responded back with, ""Do you really want to do that?"" For some reason, I let this go, and said no, I really need them groomed and don't know anywhere else to go. Dee just made me feel like I was a nuisance to her and her day. This is NOT how you treat people. I thought oh well, at least I am getting my boys groomed. She told me they would be ready at 2 PM after her throwing a fit because I could not pick them up at the time she assigned without me knowing. I arrived at 2 PM on the dot. I paid and someone from the back came in and said, ""Which two schnauzers, we have four?"" I thought, are you serious, you don't even know which dogs are mine? I guess they finally got it sorted out and someone came back and told me it would be a while. I asked how long, oh about 10 minutes, one of them is wiggling a lot. After 10 minutes later, guess who still wasn't ready. Finally one of my dogs came out, and we patiently waited for the other. I finally left with both at 2:45!! I thought it couldn't get any worse. I got home and observed the ""grooming,"" and noticed they did the worst job I have EVER seen. They had patches of hair missing, their facial hair was uneven and matted, they had mounds of hair that hadn't even been touched. Overall, this place ruined my day and my dogs appearance on top of that! Pros: NONE!!!! Cons: customer service, grooming department, etc. more

Horrible service 8/11/2008

I have taken my dogs to her 2 times now and each time something has gone wrong. She (Dee) is unfriendly and not a nice person at all. The place smells worse than a pound! The first time I took them their I told her they were not used to the Dallas heat, (we just moved from VA) and I asked they be watched. They were only their for 7 hrs and when I brought them home they both were sick and breathing heavy. The vet said it was to much heat. The second time was a overnight visit and we were going to give her a second chance. The dogs have become acclimated to the heat, but I asked for a nail trimming. When I picked them up, my shepard mix, was crusty and wet and only one or 2 nails had been cut. I don't feel at ease when I drop them off, she needs to get out of this business. Cons: the service more

Disapointed In Dee's Doggie Den 5/12/2008

Dee I was a frequent customer of yours, not any longer. I understand that when I bring my kiddo (4 legged variety) in that there is a possablity that he could get hurt, however it should be minor. Not only has he been hurt (2 times) but this last one cost me over $500 in vet bills. I am not upset with the cost of the vet bill, I am upset with you. Dee I droped my son off with you on Sunday afternoon and you said that with in 5 min of us leaving he got injured. When I asked why I was not called you said that you thought I was out of town, I am just not sure how far out of town you thought I had gotten in 5 min. Having said that even if i was clear across the world I would expect a call, this would have given me the choice of coming back to get him or having someone pick him up. Either way he would have received the needed vet care that you failed to get him.\r Additionaly when we picked him up Monday night your staff notified us that one of his feet were injured in reality he had 3 feet that were badly injured. I would have thought that you or someone would have called me to let me know of the injuries or to check on him later but no it was me that had to call you 3 days later to see what your explination was. Now comes the real kicker, you said he must have been injured before coming and I should investigate where the injury came from. Mystery solved, it happened at your establishment. Again I know that injury can occure but it should be minimal and you should have gotten him medical treatment. \r \r I am sorry to say that I can not trust you or your staff to take proper care of my kiddo. more

Do you enjoy paying for rudeness? 1/28/2008

Okayyyy so I gave Dee's Doggie Den MORE than their fair share of chances but I have finally thrown in the towel on this place. The new facility at Abrams & Mockingbird is a vast improvement over the last one but the service has not changed. Every time I called to make an appointment or showed up to drop off my pup for a service, I got the impression that they felt like they were doing me some sort of favor. And it's not an instance of rude employees -- it's the owner - Dee. She's the worst one of the bunch! Always scowling and speaking in condescending tones. She's short with the owners and, since they only have 1 station for check-in, the dogs and their owners pile up in the lobby, waiting to be acknowledged or recognized. It's ridiculous. There are so many kind, friendly business owners in Lakewood but she just ain't one of 'em. So, when I had a bit of a run in with her this past weekend, my dog and I peaced out - for good. No point in patronizing a place that doesn't care about your business. Good-bye, Dee! I've deleted your number from my cell phone 'cause we're through.\r **I've just re-read my original posting as well as some others that have been added. These 5 star reviews are so obviously plants, written by Dee or her friends / family members. PLEASE if you love your pets -- don't leave them in her care.** more

What a great place. 12/7/2006

My dog has been visiting Dee's since I got him 3 years ago and he loves it. When we pull into the parking lot he gets so excited because he knows its play time!! They take great care of him and I wouldn't dream of leaving my baby with anyone else. As to the comments about to small a space, that just means Dee's is very popular! And becuase of it, they are moving to a bigger location. I would, and have, recommend Dee's to anyone. Pros: Location, price, love of the animal, friendly Cons: None!! more

If you love your dog, don't bring him/her to Dee's 11/19/2006

How this place remains in business (I don't understand who would ever take their dog here) is beyond me. The place was smelly and cramped -- the ""day care"" area was nothing but a small area right at the reception desk cordoned off with some baby gates, where dogs of all sizes were mixed together (plus, the large windows face west, so on a summer day, I can only imagine how much more stuffy and stinky it gets). The people working at the front desk were barely polite, and seemed completely disinterested in explaining what we needed to do to bring our dog there. I basically had to interrogate them to get any of the details, and boy, about those details: if you want to bring your dog to day care, you have to call the day in advance, and if you for some reason you can't make it, this place *charges you anyway* (and it's not even like the rates are a smokin' deal or anything). Basically, the facilities look barely passable for your dog, and the rules you have to follow are a complete pain in the neck for you. (What a way to run a business -- what Dee's lacks in facilities, it makes up for with marginal customer service and very customer-unfriendly policies.) Go somewhere else. Pros: Great location right on Mockingbird. What a waste. Cons: Everything else. Poor facilities, average customer service, customer-unfriendly policies. more

Best doggie daycare in Dallas! 8/15/2006

We have been customers of Dee's since she opened and WE LOVE DEE""S DOGGIE DEN!! We have had 4 dogs in the 9 years we have been using Dee's & they have always had a great experience. We have seen the facility grow in volume and that just means the place is VERY POPULAR. Her prices are the best in town by a considerable amount. Our dog's practically pull us in the door upon arrival and don't want to leave when we come to pick-up. I have always seen the staff working very hard to keep the place clean and smelling good. We have referred countless numbers of friends to Dee's and our friend's have referred many others to Dee's over the past 9 years & all friends and dogs just can't say enough good things about Dee's. Pros: Close and Convenient to Lakewood and White Rock Lake more

Rude, Dirty & Cramped!! 7/23/2006

I completely agree w/ the first reveiw! I took my dog there about 4 years ago just for the day and he did not like it. The owner, Dee came across as rude. I recently gave it another chance and toured the facilty. No way - I would never leave my dogs there! I don't believe her best interest is in the dogs but the almighty dollar. The facility is still dirty and the dogs are crowded like herds of cattle in common areas. The kennels are small, old and untidy. The ""yard"" is a small gravel area with small rocks just perfect for lodging in between a paw pad. I just met someone a WRL Dog Park who felt the same way - I'm sure there must be others. In fact, they asked to tour the facility and Dee flat refused. Hmm - what is she hiding. With 4 moves in 6 years , we have never been refused a tour of a boarding facility! Cons: Many more

Dogs are crowded in tiny room! 2/1/2006

When I picked up my dog, I could not believe it. There were around 30 dogs in one small room. The dogs pretty much filled up the whole room. Nobody from the staff was playing with the dogs. All the dogs looked miserable! My dog could not get out of this place fast enough. I cannot recommend this place for oneone who loves his dog. I will rather leave my dog all day at home by herself (where she is comfortable and has space!) instead of taking her back to this disaster!!!! Cons: too crowded, tiny room, horrible place more
