Best

I have been going to this place since I was a kid, and the food has always been great. The wait for seating is a bit long, but the food never disappoints.

Editorial review from Citysearch 3/3/2014

Went to Cunetto's based on recommendations from people working at the hotel we were staying at this past Saturday. Totally enjoyed the experience. Despite their no reservations policy, we were seated quickly. Their house salad is fantastic, as is the Roman style filet of sole. Portions are generous. The atmosphere is old style charming, our waitress (Vicky?) was a delight and service was quick and efficient. Will go there again next time we travel through St. Louis. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 4/6/2013

We have been there twice & ate there once. Both times we received horrible service starting at the front door. The 1st time we went there it was just my wife and I. It took 1.5 hours to get seated but the food was good. This last visit was just the other night. We were there with a group of five. When we walked in we were third on the list to be seated. we waited over an hour as the the bar area emptied and filled back up twice. We asked about being on the back burner and were told by the owner that we were a large party and would have to wait until a larger table opened up. What happened to putting two tables together to accommodate guests? I have to admit the food is wonderful but all the good food in the world and lousy service never equal a great dining experience. We left Cunetto's and went across the street to Lou Boccardi's and had wonderful service and great food. If you want a better dining experience I would look else where, from reading other reviews we aren't the only ones receiving bad service more

NOT SO LOVELY 9/2/2011

Marinara was excellent, food was average. Did not like the fact that children have to walk thru their bar to be seated in the restaurant. First ordered a chicken dish with a cream sauce with peas included. We sent it back. I ordered toasted ravioli and it was extremely chewy and over cooked. Ate it anyway after sending husbands meal back. Garlic cheese toast was lovely especially dipped in my marinara sauce. Don't plan to ever retun. Sorry Rachel Ray, but our experience was less desired. more

Cunetto's House of Disappointment 11/16/2010

It has been 5 or 6 years since our experience with Cunnetto's and we had the same degrading service that obviously still prevails. We definately felt like the "common folk" on are visit, beginning with the no greeting the moment we walked in the door and an unreasonably tiring, long wait. Guess Cunneto's has such a great following they do not need new customers. We thought we would give them a try after all this time has passed but after reading the other reviews, we will not bother wasting our precious time, energy or money. more

Disappointed but will give it one more try??? 11/15/2010

My Husband and I really enjoyed dining at Cunetto's. That was up to about 5 years ago. It was a very unpleasant experience. Granted, it was a very busy night, however when we asked for some bread, the waitress went over to another table where a couple had just left, took the bread off of their table and placed it on ours. I must say I was "shocked". We definitely requested some "fresh" bread and the waitress acted insulted. When we left, we spoke with the Manager and all he could say in rather a curt voice is "what do you want me to do about it"? Seriously....that is all he could say. I think he thought we were expecting a free meal. We told him that we would never be back and we have held true to our word. I know that there are plenty of other good Italian places to eat, however we are thinking about giving this place one more chance. What do you think???? more

Fellow Italians give you 5 stars 2/1/2010

My son and I flew to St. Louis with a friend. We live in Orange County California and own an Italian restaurant. I am Sicilian and Greek and my husband is Italian. We entered a busy dining area with a very friendly staff. For appetizer we ordered the Toasted Ravioli: Best I've had, also the Shrimp Diavolo and the eggplant parm: all great. For dinner we all ordered the eggplant parm dinner because we didn't get enough from the appetizer. This dish could have fed the three of us. Dinner salad was awesome. My 14 year old son actually ordered another one. The coffee was good the Italian waitress was a delight. We had a lot of leftovers and no fridge in the hotel. We left them in the trunk and due to the fact it was snowing, it was frozen by morning and ready to reheat. I have to have another surgery in October and can't wait to eat at Cunetto's again! Hats off to St. Louis!!! The people are warm and wonderful. Pros: Dinner Salad, Bread, Toasted Ravioli... Cons: Tiramisu a little dry more

Simply dreadful dining experience 1/27/2010

There is nothing particularly skillful about preparing meals that are over cooked, over sauced, over cheesed, and over processed. And there is nothing particularly pleasing about gargantuan portions of food that, if fully consumed, would accelerate ones own demise. Pros: Nostalgia Cons: Food and service more

Worst Italian "Food" ever 12/14/2009

The first contact with the waitress was her coming up to me saying "What do you want?". There was no greeting and I still don't know her name. I ordered the spaghetti primavera and got a bowl full of mushy broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus and tomatoes. The brocolli, cauliflower and asparagus had clearly been frozen and just cooked to death. The pasta was cooked right at least. Lean Cuisine "Broccoli Alfredo" is better. When the waitress asked how it was, I told it her was "eh, okay". She then walked away. Later, the maitre'd asked how it was and I told him the same. He was actually concerned and asked why. He offered to remake it, but by that time I was a bit nauseated from the consistency of it and didn't see the point. All in all, poor service, horrible food. What kind of Italian restaurant serves butter with bread and not olive oil? One of the worst dining experences I have had in years. The sad part is that one of my friends recommended it, though he hadn't been in about 8 years. It has obviously gone downhill. Pros: Cheap Cons: Mushy veggies, rude service more

Cunetto's House of Pasta is second rate. 8/20/2009

I will never go back to Cunetto's. Cunetto's provides an overpriced "fast food" atmosphere which provides preferential seating. I would not recomend Cunetto's ever. Nor will I ever step foot in Cunetto's again. more

Worst Dinning Experience EVER! 8/20/2009

The common folks will have to wait even if you get there before the opening. We were what appeared to be the 5th on the list, but still waited 3 hours. Not sure if there was a second "hidden" list. At least, we were told we were at the top of the list after asking 4 times. The restaurant was loud, smokey, and uninviting. The host and servers were rude and we were rushed once we were seated AFTER the 3 hour wait. I could not and would not eat because I was so upset about the BS line we were being feed during the 3 hour wait. Suggest going to a Fast Food restaurant. I had much the same experience without the 3 hour wait. I will never go back to Cunnetto's. Pros: Nothing to Brag About Cons: Atmosphere, Preferential Seating, Long Waits, Too Expensive more

Great Food Rude Server 8/13/2009

I took my son and daughter there as a going away meal before they returned to college. My son had Tortellni Bolognese and I had the Spaghetti....excellent, however, my daughter ordered the Tuto Mare and she did not like it at all because it is made with a broth base rather than a cream base as she has had before. She ate two bites and we informed the waitress that she did not think the dish was up to par and lacked flavor. The waitress offered no remedy and still charged us for the dish. I know it is a personal taste thing, but I believe that there could have been a little more effort put into pleasing customers. After this the waitress became very rude, basically slammed the bill on our table and said "thanks" in a very curt manner. We will go back but because the food is outstanding, hopefully we will not encounter the same waitress. Pros: Superb Pasta Cons: Rude Waitress more

Great linguine with clams and great atmosphere 3/16/2009

Charming, non-slick, old-timey atmosphere with great food. I ate there twice with a woman I was secretly in love with. Nothing ever came of it, but I still remember the linguine with clams! Pros: Example: best croissants in town Cons: What are the drawbacks? more

Excellent 3/2/2009

In my opinion they are the best italian place to eat in the area. The prices are not that bad and the food is definitely worth it. They have the best garlic cheese bread that I have ever had. more

good value 11/23/2008

This place is a tourist trap. You get a ton of food for a super cheap price but it is still probably the worst Italian food on the hill. Don't go before 9 or you will wait forever to be seated. The bar resembles an old amvets post or elks lodge. The food is average but the service is poor and the restaraunt needs to be remodeled. Pros: Tons of pasta more

Absolutely the best! 7/30/2008

If you want a wonderful meal, Cunetto's is the place. The food is exquisite, the prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere is really fun. The only down side is that they don't take dinner reservations. So, plan to get there 30-90 minutes before they open for dinner. Otherwise you'll wait 1-3 hours for a table.\r \r Still - totally worth it! more

Great food, great prices 6/5/2008

I am from out of town and ended up going here twice. Large portions and VERY reasonable prices. They are cheaper than chain restaurants and the food is soooo much better. My pasta dish was only $8.25 and I had plenty for lunch the next day. We got there on weeknights at around 5pm and the restaurant was already filling up. It looked like the wait started at around 6pm, so I would try to get there a little earlier if you can. Pros: Good food at excellent prices, great service Cons: Parking can be an issue more
