Best

I have been going to this place since I was a kid, and the food has always been great. The wait for seating is a bit long, but the food never disappoints.

Worst

This place was recommended by many people and iwas very disappointed. Decor is fine and atmosphere not bad, but menu selection not great - no other side dish alternative other th...

DELICIOUS FOOD 12/29/2007

GREAT FOOD AND TERRIFIC ATMOSHERE FOR A ROMANTIC DATE, THOUGH, THE LAST TIME I WAS THERE I TOOK MY PARENTS. THE BEST PLACE ON THE HILL AND THAT'S SAYING ALOT! Pros: GREAT SERVICE & THEY MAKE EACH ORDER FRESH Cons: ALLOW TIME, IT'S WORTH THE WAIT more

Excellent Food, best on the Hill 3/31/2007

We love the quality! especially the Alfredo sauce, hope you're not dieting when you go there, though. Butter and loving care go into this food. one big problem: wait is waaaaaaaaaaay to long. especially if you come during normal 6pm to 8pm dinner hours. Pros: Wonderful Ambiance and Food. Come early for dinner! Cons: at least 2hr wait for dinner more

Best Italian in St. Louis 1/21/2007

Worth the wait, grab a drink at the bar and you'll be happy once you get to your table. Try a Cunetto's salad and some calamari. Any entree is good and the side of pasta is a meal by itself. more

italian defined 7/25/2006

I love canelloni but this... this is divine! Everything here is good but the wait. Often 30 to 45 mins. Pros: great ambience and perfect food Cons: don't expect to be trated like family more

BEST ITALIAN FOOD IN THE US 7/11/2006

Originally being from Springfield, MO I made the trip to STL several times to eat at Cunetto's. After joining the military and being stationed in ND I never miss a chance to eat there. They have the best service and the greatest appetizers a man could ask for. I highly recommend this restaurant and would have to say it's the greates italian restaurant that I've ate at in my life. Pros: Price, Quantity Cons: The wait.....but believe me....it's worth it more

Magnifico 5/12/2006

I am italian, and have been a chef for too many years. I learned Italian cooking from 2 old country Italian grandmothers. And I have to tell you I was sceptical when my friend suggested we go to the 4th best Italian restaurant in the U.S.! I was blown away! Forget the morons that complain about the food and service. Creative, delicious, excellant classic service. The olive oil for bread, (baked fresh) fantastic, well spiced. A wonderful suprise! And the meal just got better from there. I would stand in line for the experiance every chance I get. Anyone who say's otherwise is........ how you say? Stunado!!!! Pros: Food, Service, Decor Cons: Had to wait in line. more

Excellent!! 5/10/2006

Everything was great. The service (Erin) was friendly, helpful, and prompt. The food was excellent. If you like calimari, you will not find better anywhere. While in town, Cunetto's is a must stop. Pros: Service (Erin), Food (Calimari), Price Cons: None more

Big Proportions does not mean good 4/4/2006

I think that everyone wants to believe that this is GREAT Italian food so they can have an excuse to eat a mountain-like pile of pasta and not feel guilty about it. The food is by far some of the worst Italian food my husband and I have ever had (we both come from strong Italian backgrounds). Great portions does not equal good quality food. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone who was looking for authentic and properly made Italian food. more

Great italian food 2/10/2006

Cunetto's has been around for a long time and while their menu may have been updated, the quality of the food is still as good as it was 20 years ago! Don't miss the toasted ravioli and the canneloni. The wine list is nice and the service is terrific. It's often busy so plan to get there early and have a drink in the bar. The cocktail waitresses will be happy to get you started on an appetizer. more

Great Italian 12/22/2005

If you grew up in NY City or visited there--you'll know that their Little Italy is nothing but a front---its surrounded by Chinatown (with many Chinese cooks!) The Hill (formerly known as Dago Hill) is not. The BEST italian food in the Midwest if not the country is located here. You must try the local favorite---toasted ravioli if you come to Cunetto's. An absolute must! more

Pure Pasta Perfection! 11/21/2005

It's true, the wait is long....but so worth it! Get there early to avoid the rush. We knew we were in for a treat with the first taste of the calamari's marinara sauce. The house salad is not to be missed and almost a meal in itself. My boyfriend ordered a round steak dish in sauce that came with a side of pasta. He chose white sauce for the pasta and it was spectacular - rich, creamy and flavorful. The portions are obscenely big, perfect for passing around. The service was fast and efficient. Be prepared for a vibrant, noisy crowd in a nice setting. We were so impressed with the food that we almost went both nights of our weekend stay! Pros: Fabulous food, Fast Service, Comfortable Environ Cons: Long wait more

Excellent Italian 8/31/2005

Absolutely my favorite Italian restaurant in St. Louis, on The Hill!!! Everything on the menu is outstanding. Salads are great, bread is great, desserts, wines, etc. Class act all the way! Prices unbelievably affordable, for the gourmet quality! A real treat for anyone who loves "true Italian". more

From every" Walk of Life" 8/29/2005

This is the only place I know where everyone from every walk of life can go and enjoy great food and atmosphere. This is not a place for an eliteist attitude. There are plenty restaurants in this town and others that offer snobbery. This is about hometown people that like to observe the other famililes celebrate birthdays, gratuations, anniversaries,etc.. There is a reason for the long lines, It's called Italian hospitalityand Frank does it best. Pros: Unmatched Tuto Mare, Consistent Quality, Something for everyon Cons: My Glass Is Half Full more

STL's most over-rated Italian restaurant. 7/28/2005

I took my girlfriend from out of town on a date to Cunetto's because there is always so much rave about how great it is. This is supposed to be one of "the best" representative restaurants of St. Louis Italian food. I was definitely disappointed. I ordered the tortellini w/ cream sauce, peas, etc., and it was lukewarm. The waiter was unapologetic when I asked that it be taken back to be warmed-up. For a place w/ such a great reputation, I was really let down. I have since eaten at many other better Italian restaurants on The Hill & elsewhere in St. Louis. Pros: Can say you ate there Cons: Wasn't so good more

Quantity, Not Quality 6/27/2005

Go to Cunetto's if you want massive portions of mediocre pasta. The wait can be long, so go with the intention of waiting or get there when they open for dinner. Definitely an overrated restaurant on the Hill. Pros: large portions Cons: no reservations more

No way! 5/25/2005

I cannot believe that this place does not accept resesrvations. My husband and I had to wait 2 hours for a table! There was standing room only for the wait. Then had to wait again for a waiter to take our order. The food was terrible. Pasta sauce was bland. I will never go back. Pros: price Cons: long wait, terrible food, crowded more

Good Value 7/13/2004

Bring an appetite; the portions are large and tasty. It is usually packed so be prepared to wait. The hill has awesome food. Pros: food, price, quality more

I highly recommend Cunetto's. I found my favorite resturant the first time I went to Cunetto's in the early 1980s for Secretary's Day with my office. I have introduced almost my whole family to Cunetto's including my husband's parents who live out of town. I will never forget when we took my uncle when he was in his 90s. He was so impressed that he said he will talk to Ravanelli's located in Granite City (GC), Illinois, about the best seafood pasta he ever had and ask Ravanelli's to get the recipe. My Uncle was well known in Granite City and owned a tremondous amount of propety in GC. We quite often go with neighbors of ours who rave about the Cunetto's best steak in town. I can go on and on how wonderful Cunetto's is. Pros: inexpensive, superior service, superior italian food Cons: , too long of wait, sometimes too loud more

Exceptional 2/26/2004

Cunnetto's is a restaurant that everyone should experience at least once. The service is exceptional, the food is wonderful with large proportions, the price is extremely reasonable, and the atmosphere is romantic. Pros: Reasonably priced, Great food, Good service more

The Best! 1/19/2004

A friend recommended Cunetto's when she found out we were going to St. Louis--we were so glad we listened! We went soon after they opened for the night and had a little bit of a wait, but we simply ran across the street to the Italian Market. The fried ravioli was superb and our pasta dishes were exceptional--so freshly made that it was simply too hot to eat at first! No cooking the pasta earlier, then reheating when ordered as most restaurants do. We still talk about it here in Ohio and want to go back to St. Louis just to go to Cunetto's! I think we have become so used to "fast food" in this country, that we have forgotten that a meal is supposed to be an experience. Pros: Excellent Food more
