If you want endless excuses, bring your computer here. If you want results, go elsewhere. 3 months after my unfortunate decision to bring my computer here, I won't ever be getting it back. They never commit to timeframes, never called on the 7-8 times they said they would, lost the backing to my computer and had to order a new one (VERY reluctantly), misdiagnosed the initial problem (resulting in charging me for parts that did nothing to help the problem), and expected me to pay almost $100 for all this hassle. I ended up buying a new computer after finding out that the motherboard was fried. Words fail to express how frustrating this company is. I look forward to the day that they no longer exist to scam people. I've seriously considered small claims court, but I'm done with them and am making a clean break. more

WORST SERVICE EVER. They ended up taking 30+ days to basically re-install windows and have it running. They also said my laptop needed a new Hard Drive, which was false. I ended up paying around $220 for a piece of crap fix up. Don't ever go there! more

WORST SERVICE I have ever dealt with. I took my sony vaio in because the A/C jack was going out and wouldn't charge. I paid the 100.00 VIP +tax and was quoted that it would be done in 3-5 days. I called in after 6 and they said that it wasn't done yet. Called in a week after than since no reply and still wasn't done yet. On the third call and alot of excuses they say that they had to send it to another location because no one their could sauder. After phone calls and alot of back and forth it took nearly a month for my computer to be done. Then when I go in to grab it they wanted my money. I told them I had already paid them and they couldn't find my transaction. I had lost my receipt and they basically told me I was S.O.L.. I was furious. I mad him call the manager and have him look threw the camera's for my transaction or I was going to protest outside of the store. A week later he found my face on the camera with me paying.. DO NOT TAKE YOUR COMPUTER HERE!!! Horrible customer service. My girlfriend took her laptop in and paid the 99 dollars + tax for the VIP service and they didn't fulfill their part of the contract they made her sign without explaining what it was and this is after paying for it. The next day they say it will cost 160 dollars plus extra labor just to replace her old 320 GB hard drive with the worst hard drive they have. I did tests and hooked up a perfectly functioning external hard drive with a windows 7 OS and it still didn't work which means it's not the hard drive. I did those tests before taking it in to them and they still insist it is the hard drive. They completely refused to refund any of her money back because they claimed labor is non refundable. They didn't even do anything! The worst service ever!!! more

This company is first class! $49 just like they advertise, no hidden costs. Prompt service and theyre willing to take time to explain things thoroughly. Recommend to all my friends and family. more

I brought my laptop to these guys because my system crashed. Worst part was i had a paper due for school the next day! I was panicking but they had a VIP service which repaired my computer the same day. Awesome. more

I had a crashed hard drive so i called drive savers to see if they could recover my files. I was told yes for a price of $3800! Then someone told me to try computer bytes and they were able to save my files for only $99! On top of that it was done the next day! Highly recommend these guys. more

Took 2 laptops in and agreed to VIP service to diagnose and fix. VIP is supposed to speed up the process and cover internal repairs. Been over a month now and still waiting on a simple solder job on one of them. Been told every time I call that they are waiting on their boss who comes in NIGHTLY to do the solder job. Yet somehow when I call the next week it is still not done. Parts prices are ridiculous, they wanted like $70 for an ac adapter as well. Was told the other one had a bad motherboard and was quoted a price for the part = to what I originally bought the laptop for. I have basically given up on getting the laptops back because there is no way I am paying them any money at all. more

DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE! First of all, the owner, Jack, is a completely dishonest man. He does not pay his bills and I don't know HOW a business could exist with this man running it. Stay away from him- he is not good. He'll scam you out of whatever he can. more

My husband is an avid computer builder and technology geek. We had a computer blow on us...it needed a new power adapter. He looked online and found new power adapaters ranging at about $25. Before ordering he thought he would see if Computer Bytes had any used parts. Upon entering the store, he was surprised about the emptiness of the store. No displayed computers or parts. He inquired if they sold parts and they said they did. He was escorted into the back room where he was greeted with utter chaos. He wasn't directed either to where he might find what he was looking for. Parts were just scattered everywhere. He finally found a box in the back of the store, literally behind a garbage can. The box had some paper trash on top, but he found several power adapters inside. After digging through he found one that would work with the computer we needed to fix. The tech offered to test the power adapter for him. He told my husband that not all of the plugs worked on it, but knowing that he only needed one working plug he opted to purchase it from Computer Bytes. The tech quoted my husband a price of $89.95. My husband laughed in the guys face and told him he was only going to offer him ten bucks since he had ""dug it out of the trash"" The tech refused to budge on the price for a used half working power adapter. Needless to say we found a brand new power adapter online for $12 plus minimal shipping and handling. DO NOT GO!!! They will gouge the prices for their benefits, regardless of the quality of the part!! more

This place is on 3300 South and 300 West. I took a laptop in to be looked at. Said it would be $39.00 Diagnostic Fee and they would call me. 4 Business days later. No call. I go in to get it back, and they say for only $99.00 they will look at it today. Red Flags start popping up in my head. Grabbed my PC and left. I'm amazed that a place like this is able to keep a customer base. more

First of all, they are on 3300 S. 300 W. now. Secondly, in the course of dealing with them, their main number was disconnected at one point. No bueno. Had a bad feeling when after I dropped it off (and didn't get a copy of the contract - duh on me there), and called the next day, they had trouble finding it. Even asked if it could be under a different name. I was told it was the DC jack and that the part was on order. 9 days later, I was told it was a bad motherboard, so I told them to put it back together and let me know when that was done so I could pick it up. Got a phone call the next day saying it would be done the following day...no more phone calls. 3 days later I just showed up, and it was still in pieces. I stood there for an hour till they put it together, then (with audible complaints from me) I paid them for the two weeks of wasted time. During my hour wait, another customer came in wanting his computer, and he too had been waiting for 2 weeks. The ""tech"" tried to say the guy's hard drive was bad, but the guy said that they had installed it so they needed to fix it. The ""tech"" claimed that many of his workers had recently left the business and he was currently on his own. I was invited to go to the work area of the shop, and saw how chaotic it was. He did offer to save my files to disc for free, but I just wanted out of there. It literally looked like a chop shop for computers, and I am not at all comfortable that I have received my laptop back in the same state as I brought it there in. I usually research this stuff, but having been without a comp for a while, I took a chance. Now I'm out the money (he did only charge $39 plus tax), but I'm happy to add to the honest reviews about this fraudulent company to help others AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE. more

I went to the store around noonish with my laptop that wasn't powering on. Much to my surprise, I got a call around 6:00 that my laptop was fixed ready to be picked up. They had taken apart the entire thing, sodered it, put it back together, and even cleaned it up for me! Jack, the man behind the counter who worked on my computer, was very clear in explaining everything. Highly recommend! more

Buyer beware this place is very bad very bad they installed the wrong video card into my computer when i took it in and said this thing is running worse then before first off he gave me attitude when i told him this over the phone aka (wade) he said okay whys that i say i dont know he says okay man bring it in lets take a look at it i say okay take it back to him and he starts doing things to it says man imma have to call you let me get in there and figure it out call you in a few days 4 days go by i call back nope not done LONG STORY SHORT THIS VIDEO CARD COST ME $160.00 AND WAS NOT COMPATIBLE FOR MY COMPUTER AND THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME A 25% RESTOCKING FEE FOR THERE MESS UP AND TELLS ME THAT CARD DONT WORK CAUSE MY COMPUTER IS AND OLD PIECE OF @!#$ AND ALSO DID NOT EVEN REFUND ME THE REMAINDER CAUSE PROCEEDED TO GET INTO MY FACE OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING WOOOOOOOT WOOOOT PROFESSIONALISM AT ITS FINEST I FEEL SORRY FOR ANYONE WHO USES THEM BOYCOTT THIS COMPANY THEY ARE BAD BUSINESS AND WILL RIP YOU OFF more

Check their Better Business Bureau rating, that says a lot. They are actually located at 3300 South and about 300 West. They recently *fixed* my uncle's laptop. It had Vista on it, and has a legit key on the back for it. For some dumb reason they put Windows XP on it. Found out it was an illegal version of it later too. Older version of Windows on a computer that came with a newer version of Windows = lots of problems. It's like putting a HEMI engine in a Yugo. That laptop kept locking up, drivers were all wrong, the fan wasn't working right among other things. They managed to charge him $142.04 for all of it too. He had to go to another shop (PC Laptops) to fix it. I would recommend PC Laptops, they actually informed my uncle of the illegal software on his laptop that Computer Bytes installed. ***I went in there today (5/20/11) with my uncle to get a refund. I brought proof that they put an illegal version of Windows XP AND an illegal version of MS Office 2007 (we found this out later after talking to PC Laptops yesterday). All they could tell us was that Computer Bytes is under new management and that ""was the previous guys that did that"". They are still the same company, same address, same phone number, they are still responsible. If it was viruses that they didn't get rid of that's one thing, but illegal activities are another thing and my uncle is entitled to a full refund because of that. They defiantly refused to issue a refund because this happened in 2009. Therefore, I am submitting this review, I will aggressively seek action against them through the BBB and the Consumer Protection Agency of Utah. I also updated my case with the Microsoft Anti-piracy team about this. They are actively investigating them as well. This is not a good company to do business with, they are very unethical.*** If you notice the reviews on here, most of them have quite generic names and have only reviewed this place. Looks like the owner is making multiple accounts just to give their business good reviews on Google. more

Wonderful guys to work with, fast and painless gave me a free back up and recovered all my pictures from a bad drive, much better then buying a new laptop, Thanks wade more

I can see why other companies are trying to trash the reputation of this one. My laptop was given me missing or corrupted files the very same day i had to go on a trip. Ed at computer bytes replaced the bad hard drive and reloaded all my software. But there was no time to transfer my files. Ed connected wireless remotely to my laptop and from their server transfer my back up on the way to the air port. I was on time and very happy! Thanks awesome Ed. more

i had taken my 3 computers into wade and ed with computer bytes and i was extreamly happy with the srvs i receaved from them, they repaird all my computers and best yet the laptop i braught into them was locked with a windows password i couldent use it. and it had windows xp i wanted ubuntu (linux) so i decided to have wade and ed take care of it they compleatly formated the hard drive and installed linux and made sure everything worked properly and returned it to me in less then 4 days theyer awesome people thanks wade and ed! more
