USE THE AIRPORT OFFICE STAFF/ DR'S VERY FRIENDLY 10/17/2010

I love Dr. Capada at the Airport Clinic he and Bobbie are wonderful. Actually I have not come across a doctor there that I didn't like or a nurse who was not friendly. However, the Providence office is terrible. The staff is not friendly, doesn't ever greet you with a smile, never knows anything, the office manager when I went was extremely rude, but the doctors are nice. That being said I am going to deal with all that to see a nice doctor unless my child is DYING IN PAIN. I will continue to use to Airport office. I actually started at the Providence office and switched after countless mistakes on the staffes part with no appoligies from anyone. more

What Is A Sick Child? 3/17/2010

On my initial attempt to schedule my daughter for what I considered to be a routine visit for a rash, I was told they could see my child that day as a sick child but when I said I couldn't make it that day I was told I could not schedule an appointment for a sick child. I called the next day to schedule a "check up" and got an appointment with no problem. That being said, though there was a short hold to schedule the appointment, the wait time to see the doctor was very short and Dr. Little appeared very caring and professional. I will definitely be returning to the Airport Blvd location but agree they could stand to revisit their scheduling procedures. more

Love Cepada 12/6/2009

Cepada is a wonderful doctor. We have enjoyed him and Bobbie. They are great with our child. Pros: None Cons: They don't care about your kids. more

no real problems 10/6/2008

I take my 6 month old to the main office, and we love it. Yes, it's hard to get through on the phones, but the people are busy. Get over it and keep trying just like the rest of us. If you can't get through, just go in. That's what I did when my daughter had a strange rash, and we were in with the doc within 45 minutes. Our usual doctor, I might add. The well baby appts fill up fast, but you're usually scheduling far enough in advance you shouldn't have a problem. We never have. The staff may be short with you, but they're never rude or inconsiderate, just busy. more

great practice 10/6/2008

My four children see Dr. Calametti. We have been at the practice since 1995. We are exceedingly pleased with the quality of care and service from the staff. I can honestly say that we have never experienced rudeness from the staff. The doctors are caring and knowledgeable. We are able to see a doctor for a sick visit any time of the day or on the weekends. They even have two offices! It was wonderful to have that sense of security with four small children. We have never had to visit an ER because we just came over to the office and were seen immediately. We feel very fortunate to have found them! more

No Complaints Here! 9/8/2008

My daughter has been a patient at the Providence office since birth. She is two years old now and we are still very pleased with the care that the doctors provide. We haven't had any trouble with scheduling sick appts, however their well-baby visits do seem to book up quickly. Love the fact that I can get sick appts after 430pm as I live/work in MS and it is so much easier to go to MD after work than in the middle of the day. Phones sometimes stay busy, but I just keep trying until I get through. If there is something that really requires a sick visit - I start trying early so that I am sure to get her seen by MD. We haven't experienced any of the rudeness that some reviewers have reported. Nurses and office staff have for the most part been nice and pleasant to us. more

Great doctors 8/27/2008

I have a 9 month old and have been going to Dr. Smith, now Dr. Weinacker from day 1. We love her and her staff- and we've had many issues that required office visits. We have seen 2 other doctors in the practice and I felt that they were equally caring and professional, and their nurses were also great. I recommend this practice to anyone, and have heard many OB's who recommend them as well. more

no problems here 7/25/2008

I have three small children and they all see the doctor's at Children's Medical Group. People who complain tell me where else you can find doctor's willing to work holidays, nights, and weekends. They have families also you know, quit complaining and thank GOD that they are open when they are. more

No problems Here 4/20/2008

I've used the Providence location for about 3 1/2 years now (since my daughter was 2 mos old) and never had any real problems. The staff has always been courteous, and I have never had any trouble obtaining a sick appointment, although I have had to wait on hold for considerable lengths of time. I still can't complain though, after all, there are very few businesses left that you don't have to wait on hold for awhile. I do make sure to book check up appointments well in advance, as they seem to be booked 3-4 weeks ahead of time. Although I've only had to go in for sick appointments about 1-2 times a year (I'm NOT one of those parents who feels the need to run to the pediatrician's office every time her child has the sniffles - which, btw, I feel is a large part of the problem some people have in booking sick appointments - they bog down the appointment times for their not-so-sick child and take away from those who geninuinely need to see a doctor), I've always found the staff to be more

I love the MDs and other staff members 3/1/2008

Everyone at Children's Medical Group is so helpful and nice. I have never had a bad experience there and feel bad for the woman that did. If anyone else has that experience with the unanswering of the phones or not getting a sick child appointment, I suggest--waking up earlier and calling at 8:30 am. more

a reply as a nurse for Childrens Medical and a parent of a patient 12/4/2007

I am a nurse at Children'sMedical Group, and the parent of a child that is a patient . I am the one fielding the phone calls from frustrated parents, it is just as frustrating for us to try to help people who are wanting appointments and we have none.We can only see so many patients in a day, and yes every kid in Mobile and the surrounding areas is sick, including mine, but I don't rush my child in at the first sign of an illness. We are here to help, if the reception staff is not sympathetic, it is because they have no medical background, Our Doctors and Nurses are the finest in the area, please give us the chance to prove it. Some people are not going to be happy no matter what we do, even if we could move mountains! more

What am I supposed to do in the mean time? 10/23/2007

If this location is struggling so much to schedule the patients they already have then shouldn't they stop taking new patients? I have been trying to get an appointment for three days since now one of their selling points is that they are open on weekends. Well that doesn't do me any good if I can't get someone to answer the phone. I finally got a person on the phone yesterday (Monday) morning around 9:00 am which I almost rather I hadn't considering how snide she was. I was told all appointments had been booked for the day and I would need to call back the next day because they can't schedule visits for sick children in advance. So now I am sentenced to wait another day for medical treatment with my 5 year old who is running between a 101 and a 103 temperature. You should not be forced to consider taking your child to the emergency room and racking up big time medical bills just because the Dr.'s office you have been using since their birth is overcrowded and unsypathetic to the more

Sick Child, Time Off Work and Very Frustrated 10/22/2007

I have been taking one or both of my children to this group for about 8 years now. I love the doctors. I do not agree with the comments about the friendly staff. They appear to be overworked and short on compassion. I am extremely irritated with the scheduling system. There must be a better way. I have experienced all of the horror stories you have read about regarding trying to get an appointment. Today, I called for an hour trying to get someone to pick up. My son has had a fever all weekend, and developed a terrible cough. My choices ... 9:40 pm, or nothing. \r The staff act like they are giving you a miracle, (which I almost believe), or performing some act of great charity by scheduling you. When I asked if there was anything else, any other way besides me dragging my sick child out at 9:40, the receptionist replied, "That?s It!"\r Perhaps I need to switch to a not so famous group, so that I can get the care my child deserves and the care that I am PAYING for!\r If they a more

Weren't available 3/20/2007

I had been told wonderful things about this pediatric group, so I got all excited to add my 14 month old son to their mass of children. I started calling the number on Monday and after a 30 min session of lite mix 99.9 I was told that I could not schedule a new client sick appointment until the day I wanted him to be seen. I said that I wanted him to be seen that day and then she stated that they don't "do" appointments for sick babies in the afternoon (1:00pm), but that I would have to call back the next day first thing in the morning. SO... I did just that. Tuesday I started my attempts at calling at 8 o'clock on the dot! The phone stayed busy till 8:57am. Finally a person answered the phone and asked me if I could hold. (already late for a meeting) I politely said yes, because I needed an appointment. She finally got back to me after 10 more mins of lite mix 99.9 and I began my spill about a 14month old new client with the potential of having ear infections. She told me that they ha more

Great place and Excellent hours 11/8/2006

I use the Providence location and I love the physicians there. The Providence office "feels" cleaner, I guess because the other office is so old. I transferred my children to the Providence office because of the location and I LOVE the docs there. The staff is wonderful and the office hours...well, you can't beat it. You won't find another Pediatrician with these hours and they have an onsite lab which is great. I would definitely recommend this clinic. PROS: Hours of operation; friendly (majority of the time) CONS: Phone lines busy a lot but office stays busy more

Finding a Doctor 11/19/2005

Childrens Medical Group is located on Airport Boulevard behind I Hop. The office area is pleasant and designed for children. The staff was always friendly and helpful. This is a nice place to take your kids for health care. You will probably have to go to several doctors before finding the right one for you. I would recommend Dr. McDonough. She is awesome. She helped my daughter when no one else could. She cares about her patients. The parking area needs improvement. It can be confusing when the office is busy. more

Great physicians flexible hours. 11/10/2005

Th Children's Medical Group has two offices and several physicians at each office. They also stay open very late and are open on weekends. No matter when your child gets sick you can usually see a doctor. The primary Physician that my children use is very competent and friendly but we have come in on her days off before and had to see other doctors. All have been wonderful. PROS: Great hours. CONS: None more

Good and Bad 9/15/2005

They have some of the best and some of the worst doctors in town. You are taking your chances each visit. If you get one you don't like try another. I love my doctor and she is the best. My major gripe is they way they schedule appointments...if you can get to schedule. The phone system is a mess. Trying to get through or get someone to call you can be daunting. They are sweet to talk to once you get someone, but then usually you have a hard time getting an appt. or getting the dr. to want to see. more
