Other than having a long wait one time, we have had a great experience going to these Doctors! We especially love Dr. Cooper! more

Editorial review from Citysearch 3/18/2013

I would never recommend this office to my worst enemy. The receptionists and nurses are rude and Dr. Faber is far from professional. Our first appointment with Dr. Faber was our follow up appointment after my son was born. He had lost 10% of his body weight in the hospital and his bilirubin levels were low, so we had to make an appointment for him 2 days after we came home. Dr. Faber didn't even look at my husband, son or myself for the first 10 minutes of the exam. His eyes were locked on his laptop and only interacted with us saying ""uh-huh, mmm, ok"" As soon as he looked over my son, less than 3 minutes, he had his hand on the door knob. As new parents we had several questions for him. When we alerted him to that, it was like we were asking a huge favor of him to stick around and answer our questions. Another incident we had with this office that truly turned me off completely from this office was when my son was 4 weeks old. I suspected he had acid reflux, the symptoms were textbook. I called the office to make an appointment and when I was speaking to the nurse, she was extremely rude. I told her that he was crying hours on end, he only like to be held or bounced, laying down was an issue. She interrupted me and said, ""You're a new mom huh? First thing you need to do is just put him down!"" I was shocked, she was rude and demeaning. I brought him in to the office and they just pushed me off, that I was a ""new mother"" that I was wrong, there was nothing wrong with my son and I needed to be patient. I demanded that they checked him for acid reflux. They sent me to Chester County hospital for an X-ray and within 10 seconds of him finishing the barium bottle the technician turned to me and said ""well, it's obvious he has reflux!"" \r The only person that treated me like a human was the Nurse Practitioner. It wasn't enough to make me stay with this practice. I requested my records be sent next door to Healthy Steps. They asked why I chose them, I didn't hold back, I was calm and courteous when I told them. They just said, ""Well, good luck then."" We've never been happier that we switched out of this god awful practice. Four years later and the only thing I regret as a new mother, was making the choice to come here in the first place! more

Fantastic Practice 5/15/2012

We always request Dr. Faber, as he is an outstanding practitioner. Over the years, he has treated our family like his own. Our son has had multiple medical issues and he has always been confident, caring and compassionate while guiding us through his medical care. He is well versed on best practice and will discuss current medical avenues that one can explore. Whenever we call the office, they will find a way to fit us in to the packed schedule. We have always received outstanding service and advice from the staff. I have to comment about complaints that the Dr. doesn't know about medical insurance. Truly, it is not the Dr.'s job to know what medicine and procedures are covered. Thier are an endless amount of insurance policies and they are always changing. We as parents have to navigate the frustrating field of the insurance provider. Our doctors need to learn and stay abreast of how to mend our children. We rave about the practice and drive over 15 minutes to see Dr. Faber. If it weren't for him, we would go somewhere closer to our home. more

Not worth the time. 2/3/2012

If your child is ADD or ADHD, dont take them here. Dr. Faber is a joke. Since Oct 2011 he has changed my daughters medication 4 times. He changed it the first time cuz he felt she was getting too much of her original medication that she had been on for the past 3 yrs. I understood that, so we trusted him. So he puts her on Concerta (name brand). It worked perfectly! Our child gained 7lbs, focused in school, etc. Then he changes it again because the insurance company needed pre authorization. Which this dr office never did. Us as parents tried going back and forth with the pharmcy , insurance company and drs office. Everyone but the drs office still failed to do their part. So over the next 3 months he has changed her medication. We told him time after time put her back on Concerta and it will be paid out of pocket. He starts to argue why would you do that, and suggest we switch over to UnitedHealth Care. Reassured me it would be covered. So we did that. Guess what ITS NOT COVERED! This man is cluelss and doesnt want to be bothered with this area in medicine. Not only is he clueless, but he is rude. Not confidinet is decision at all. When a dr starts asking a parent ""What do you want me to do?"" or ""What do you want?"" there is a problem with that. If I could have been paid for the amount of times he has asked us this we would be rich.. DONT TAKE YOUR CHILD THERE!!! more

Keep your children far away from this place 1/3/2012

This is by far the worst place you could ever bring your children. The nursing staff is not only rude and abrupt but have no clue what they are doing. My child had a suspected fracture. After being sent to a radiologist who sent the results to the doctors office, I called and asked for an over read (this is very typical to ask for as many x-ray results can be inaccurate) The nurse who answered the phone first told me, the office does not have computers that will read a disc, then she told me the office does not have x-ray boxes so they could not read the x-rays. I explained to the nurse that an x-ray box is not needed any light, or outside light could be used, she told me that her doctors do ""not have the skills to read x-rays” I was shocked and asked if an administrator could call me back. A PA called me back who stated what a rude patient I was and that the practice does not need patients like me coming to them. By the way I am a PA. Do yourself a favor before going here read all of the reviews and judge for yourself. more

Mean nurse's. 10/12/2011

Dr. Faber was good to us when we took our newborn to him a couple of times. They always would say to us....call if you have any questions anytime of the day or night. When my 2 month old felt feverish and was congested, I called early on a Tuesday morning to see what I needed to do. A nurse had called back and said....""You called, what did you want?"" I told her the baby's symptoms and she said....""prop her up in her crib at night"" and hung the phone up. She didn't say goodbye or ask if I had any questions. This is my first child and she was so new at the time, I didn't want to take any chances but this woman who called me back did nothing to ease my mind. In fact, she upset me even more than I already was. They act as though they are being pestered. I was only doing what they told me...calling with any questions. It's a shame no one really helped. more

Many bad experiences 8/28/2011

I came to dislike this office after several bad experiences. I liked Dr. Faber at first then after he sent my daughter to an ENT who treated her badly and I complained, he was almost abusive to my son who had planters warts, spraying him with something on his feet and holding on to them long after he was experiencing discomfort and laughing about it. He told me he had ADD and I think he's nuts. Dr. Serkis didn't believe my son's ankle hurt when he sprained it and made him jump up and down on it and made nothing of his stomachaches, acting like he made them up. Nothing was done for another son who has aspergers and sleep problems. I moved over to Healthly Steps next door after the Faber incident and found that Dr. Serkis was there to my consternation and again was a jerk about my son's issues. I never went there again either. more

LONG TIME PATIENT & ONLY TRUST THEM!!!!! 6/24/2011

I have been with Chester County Pediatrics for almost 20 years now. I have been elsewhere - but have always come back. I trust and adore Dr Mark Faber who has been my now 28 yr. old's pediatrician and is now that for my 11 and 8 year old. There is nothing better than to know you will receive the best and most thorough examination for my children. He has always been able to diagnose the problem, treat and then ALWAYS follows up after. I cannot believe that anyone would say anything negative. EVERY story has two sides..... sometimes I have to wait a while but not that often. AND, it is always worth the wait. My Kids LOVE him and ALL of us trust Chester County Pediatrics..... !!!!!!!!!! Lisa Forbes more

Lots of good experiences! 3/15/2011

Frankly, I am shocked by the negative reviews. My experiences with this practice have been very good. I have lived in a few cities and did actually use an inner city clinic when my son was young. This place is nothing like that. I have two kids and have been going to CCP for years and have never had to wait long in the waiting room. They have always fit us in when they were sick, including last year on a Sunday when they were normally closed when my family had contracted H1N1. When I have called overnight because my newborn wasn't feeding, they called back within 15 minutes and were very nice and helpful. The office isn't pretty, but it has never been dirty when I was there. No one but me ever seems to use the sick room, but that is the parents fault, not the practice. (Though the could make the sick room a little more ""fun"". There are never many books or toys in there.) The receptionists are always polite to me, and if I call to speak to a nurse before bringing my child in, they always give me the time. They have many pediatricians, practioners, and nurses and I think I have seen them all. They have differing personalities and medical opinions. I advise anyone going there to try a few to find who matches your own parenting style and medical beliefs. The only policy of theirs I felt was a little out of line was them charging a co-pay simply to have blood drawn. I had been in for a checkup and got lab slips for blood tests, but they were fasting tests, so they told me to bring them back the next morning. When I did, they were going to charge me another $60 just to draw blood. So I took them to Quest instead and had it done for free. more

Great Practice!!!!!!!! 1/27/2011

I must say,I have not had the same experiences as most writing reviews.I have not had any issues with the Dr. nor their receptionist. When i phone them,i get answers. When i take my daughter for her med-check and her yearly check-ups,they take the time to talk to me.I felt the office was clean. And for those that dont think its clean,DONT COMPLAIN ABOUT THE NO FOOD NO DRINK RULE.There are reasons for the rules and maybe its due to lazy ass parents that dont like to clean up after their kids.So....i would definitely recommend this office!!!!!!! more

No callback! 1/2/2011

I have been taking my kids to CCP for a little over a year. My youngest has been sick since he was born in March of 2009. The other day my son started wheezing...this is the first time he has wheezed and he was actually struggling to breathe. I called the Emergency On-Call # and left a message and am still waiting for a call back today...that was 48 hours ago! We ended up in the ER at duPont for 5 hours that night where he required neb treatements and steroids. The ER Dr wants him followed up by the pediatrician but I will be calling a new office! more

poor excuse for a dr. 12/14/2010

He refused to see my daughter after she was misdiagnosed with an ear infection, when it was actually pneumonia (which nearly cost her her life) by one of his practitioners. He told my husband that it would ""mess up their schedule"" and if we showed up there that he would call an ambulance ""which will be a huge expense to you"". not a joke: that is what he actually said. \r \r \r \r more

Horrid experiences 12/14/2010

This practice nearly cost me daughter her life. I was told that my daughter had an ear infection after telling the practioner that she had upper rep. distress. They refused to see my daughter a second time that day and we were told we would ""mess up the schedule."" We took her to urgent care and had her treated for upper rep. Two hours later we rushed her to Paoli's E.R. and she was then transported by ambulance to Dupont's childrens hospital where she was diagnosed with PNEUMONIA and a COLLAPSED LUNG. She had to be bi papped and was admitted to the ICU for eight days and to the floor for an addtional two. When we followed up with CCP we were disregarded. She had severe diarreha and a nasty diaper rash from the meds. We told the Practioner (I saw a DR once in two years) the history of events and we were treated with same ""your details bore me attitude."" She said she call Dupont to get the med names aso she can ""treat"" her and THEY NEVER CALLED US BACK. This place is a clinic. It is dirty and not updated and looks like an inner city clinic. The one time did actually see the Dr. he announced that he ""was so happy to see you! You have insurance! This will be the first time I am paid today!"" \r \r DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN TO THIS CLINIC- eh hem. I mean practice. If I had put my daughter in her crib to wait for the meds to fight her ""ear infection"" she would have sufficated and died. The disregard for my family could have cost my daughter her life. more

God Aweful Place 8/20/2010

This place has been our childerns doctors for years. They always seem to have messed up our children and they are not good with ADHD children at all either. Well they lost my oldest daughters records. After we asked them several times please find them look around what ever. AND after my daughters school had to fax them over her shots records because they lost them we asked them after they finally found it just so say sorry cause of all of the issues it had given us and swearing up and down they never had seen her. Instead of them saying sorry and admitting they made another mistake they instead turn and say we wont see your children any longer. more

NOT as AWFUL as they said 3/9/2010

I'd like to say in response to the family's post from jan 2010 (AWFUL AWFUL PLACE) that i agree that this is NOT a great pediatric practice. However as a nurse practitioner myself some of the gripes they stated are not justified\r 1. It is the MD's/NP's job to recommend vaccines for your child based on national health standards. It is your right as a parent to refuse and you shouldnt be made to feel like an idiot if you do refuse. HOWEVER it is legally necessary for the provider to document that they did recommend these and that YOU chose to refuse them so that when your child comes down with and possibly dies from a vaccine preventable disease YOU are legally responsible NOT them!! So it is not fair to be upset that they put this info in your child's chart. And by the way there is overwhelming scientific proof that vaccines DO NOT cause autism or other such developmental delays but lay people may have a hard time weeding out all the FALSE info on the internet, and believe me there is ALOT of it out there.\r 2. Fevers do scare parents BUT fevers should NOT be considered dangerous. A fever from illness can lead to a sezuire in a child but usually only in children younger then 3 years old AND the degree of the temp does not really coorelate with risk of this occuring. Children can have a sezuires with temps as low as 101 and have NO negative side effects with temps as high as 105. It is actually how FAST the body temp rises and not how high it gets that brings on a febrile sezuire. Febrile sezuires are usually very brief in nature and cause no long term comlications for children when they do occur. Granted you should not have had to page mutliple times or made feel bad that you did call. more

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL PLACE!!! 1/29/2010

We have been going to this medical group for a few years off and on- basically when my child is ill and needs something. They have been SO awful we stopped going for routine check-ups since my child sees another doctor out of state. The last time we were there with our daughter (who was sick so we sucked it up and went back to them) a nurse practitioner (they are like revolving doors over there but I have her name if anyone is interested) chastised us and treated us as if we were knowledgeable idiots that get all of our info off the internet. She told us that if we do not do what she says, that her wishes are those of the practice, that we are to NEVER come back. She actually made notes on my daughter's chart that stated we refused a round of vaccinations. We called the lead MD and he couldn't be bothered. I called the staff and let them know that she was extremely out of line and regardless of personal beliefs a PAYING CUSTOMER should never have been treated in the manner of which we were treated. I have never liked the place too much but figured hopefully I would barely visit so dealt with it. The waiting room is a MESS. You can make an appt and be there for over an hour. No one uses the sick room. My son years ago had a fever that his 104- SERIOUSLY- and we would have to call and call in the middle of the night for someone to call us back. Then when we got a hold of a doctor they acted like we were freaking out over nothing and that until it reaches 105 do not worry. A Doctor in Baton Rouge- family friend- heard this and flipped out. He suggested we report them to the state. Children can seize from fevers that high! My opinion- it's bad health care- one person says this, the other that. I just do my own research and make my own opinions. Prepare to wait for at least 30 mins before being seen with an appt in a dirty waiting room filled with people and no so nice people. They seem to have a lot of insurance issues and love to post rude signs- like one sticker per child- WHATEVER! Jeez. My child never takes your stickers so what the heck? One time I had an appt made and when I showed up the staff has accidentally put me in for the wrong date. She knew she made a mistake and apologized, but I noticed the rude sign that says they will bill you $40 for late cancellations./missed appts. I laughed and said well can I bill you $40? Funny thing- the date she had put us in for the appt came and I got a note stating that I owe them $40 for missing my appt and it was their mistake! If you want a great personal doctor, with excellent medical care this IS NOT THE FACILITY. If you want someone to give you an antibiotic here or there or just routinely check your kid for school- expect very little- then they are fine. To me they feel like they are shopping people through as quickly as possible to collect insurance money. Oh, and don't dare ask them about a vaccination schedule!!! You will certainly be treated with hostility from all- like an brainless maggot. They need to understand us parents have rights and different views- do not read everything off the interent as the gospel- and we have our own decisions in mind. They need to update themselves to 2010 and work with families instead of seeing families as a money maker. I have chosen to go to another practice and it is a world of difference so my advice- don't even get near them!!!! Pros: Can't think of one Cons: Rude staff, unknowledable ""professionals"", Poor response more

AVOID - NO COMPASSION 11/24/2009

Our son contracted H1N1 and had days and nights of high fevers leading up to a seizure. I paged Chester Country Pediatrics four times on a Sunday, every 15 minutes for an hour, and they never once called us back. We had to go to Urgent Care to have him checked out. We followed up a day later with his Pediatrician who's only consolation was ""we didn't call you, oh that's too bad"". WHAT IS THAT CRAP?!? Pros: Location Cons: They have no concept of an emergency situation more

Fairly Good Experiences 11/16/2009

I am a father of three kids - aged 10, 3 and 1. We have been taking our kids to Chester County Pediatrics for a couple of years after a bad experience at another local practice. We don't usually have to wait more than about 15-20 minutes during regular or sick-child appointments, and we have usualy been very pleased with both the doctors and the nurses who have seen our kids. Pros: very professional doctors & nurses more

Poor medical practices/very bad staff 6/27/2009

In general we have had a bad experience with Chester County Pediatrics. Several times we have taken our children and had them misdiagnosed, or had issues with the lack of treatment. I've received medical explanations such as I guess it just hurts, or I don't know. As well, they are either understaffed or simply don't answer the phone, but getting support from them is often a problem. Maybe at some time this office was a quality medical practice, but in recent years the quality of care has simply become unacceptable. I would highly recommend not choosing this practice if at all possible. Pros: Minimal Cons: Poor medicial care, staff doesn't answer phone more
