I don't know why there are so many negative reviews. I usually have at least a hour wait with my own doctor, and that's when I have an appointment. I went to the ER once with a bad stomach bug and waited for 6 hours in the waiting room, then waited another hour until I was seen by a doctor! My family will continue to use the emergicenter. I hate waiting, like anyone else, but I'll take a 3 hour wait over a 6 hour wait anytime. I've found the doctors to be competent. Some have a better bedside manner, but they're all decent. Yes, the place looks a little rough, but they were around before the term ""urgent care"" was conceived! more

they will tell you they take your insurance and then you end up with a big bill because they really don't. Call your insurance company in advance or just go to the emergency room instead more

Terrible service - waited for hours then son was seen quickly - and billed $190 for our troubles - I'd rather go to the emergency room. more

My two girls and I were treated at the Cedar Crest EmergiCenter for the flu and also a corneal abrasion in December. I have nothing but less than a five star review for the care we received there. The doctors were thorough and the nurses were exceptional and efficient. I highly recommend them should you need care during off-hours or anytime, for that matter. more

Excellent Service 4/2/2012

I have had nothing but great experiences at Cedar Crest Emergi Center. The staff is kind and caring and their work ethic is amazing. If only every office I have visited were like this. The doctors and nurses are compassionate and they really care about their patients. It is hard to find a place like that, where they genuinly care. I will continue to go back again and again. more

Excellent Service at an EmergiCare Center 2/6/2012

While home from college on Christmas vacation my daughter experienced severe flu like symptoms. The care my daughter received at Cedar Crest EmergiCenter was compassionate and extremely thorough. We originally went to an ER down the street and were informed there would be a wait time of approximately 3-4 hours. I was pleasantly surprised to find out the wait time at Cedar Crest was under an hour. My daughter was seen by a physician, had the necessary diagnostic testing done on site, was given a definite diagnosis and received the necessary medication prior to being discharged. They are staffed with exceptional physicians and ancillary staff. more

Absolutely Abysmal! 8/8/2011

I'd like to start things off by commending the nursing and clerical staff: they were warm, accommodating, and incredibly personable. It's an absolute shame that they have to work in such a horrible environment: I spent upwards of four hours in the emergicenter only to be met by a doctor who answered my questions and concerns with gruff, monosyllabic grunts. Dr. Shingles never so much as said hello (at one point he actually left the room while I was speaking to him), nor did he offer any advice for speeding my recovery. Fortunately, the nurses were more than accommodating in this capacity. While the majority of the staff is kind and caring, the doctors leave much to be desired, particularly Dr. Shingles, whom I can only describe as awe-inspiring in his lack of professionalism. Stay far, far away. more

Good Care, with Dr. Shingles 7/27/2011

I am 37 yrs. old & have been seeing Dr. Shingles for 22 yrs. I have never been happier with his care. I've seen other doctors @ Cedar Crest Emergicenter & elsewhere and will always come back to him. There are other doctors @ Cedar Crest Emergicenter that I DON'T like and other staff too, but Dr. Shingles always makes me feel better when I'm sick. Don't talk to a receptionist Lisa, she might hang up on ya. She offered to put me on a waiting list for an appointment. However, she did not offer to make an appointment. Then hung up on me and got annoyed when I called back to as for an appointment. Guess a lot of people do like Dr. Shingles as he is booked for the next week. more

worst service ever imaginable 5/6/2011

This place is horrible! The service of the Emergicenter has been steadily declining for quite some time now. The receptionist had schedule an appointment for me with my family doctor of 35 years. When i went for my appointment the receptionist told me that there was no record of me having an appointment. I was also informed that my doctor had left for the day and none of the other doctors accepted my keystone health insurance. They offered to schedule my appointment for another day. I am sick today and have been for a couple days and was hoping to have been seen today, not next week! I was told to go to a hospital emergency room. I later talked to a lady who was in charge of the emergicenter and she said that other doctors there accept my insurance. My entire family are patients of dr shingles but we will no longer go there. These people will let you die! more

HORRIBLE!!!!!!!! 4/18/2011

THIS PLACE WAS HORRIBLE!!!!!! SAT IN THE WAITING ROOM FOR 2 HOURS BEFORE I GOT SEEN AND WHEN I DID I GOT HOME AND RESEARCHED THE MEDICINE THEY GAVE ME TO TREAT MY ILLNESS AND THEY PRESCRIBED ME SOMETHING THAT DOES NOT CURE OR TREAT MY ILLNESS! IN FACT I CALLED A DIFFERENT DOCTOR FOR A SECOND OPINION AND THEY SAID THAT WHAT THEY GAVE ME WAS NOT IN FACT FOR MY ILLNESS BUT FOR COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ILLNESSES!!! I WOULD NOT RECCOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE!!!!!!!!!!!! more

Professional, Caring and Recommended Highly 1/20/2011

I have used Cedar Crest and Doctor Shingles for my medical care for a long time. The folks at Cedar Crest have always been professional, caring and have provided me with exceptional service. I work a lot and it is difficult for me to set regular appointments. Their hours make it easy for me to get to see a doctor when I need one. I have brought other family members from out of town here-when they have visited and needed to see a doctor on a weekend or over a holiday. They have helped my parents many times. It's a great place to have here in Allentown. more

fast and efficient care 1/14/2011

Last Monday I had an unfortunate accident while I was skiing. I had fallen and dislocated my left shoulder. I was in terrible pain. I came to your facility for help instead of going to the E.R. There is no doubt in my mind that I received care far superior than I would have in the E.R. I have used the E.R. in the past and my experience was sit and wait unless lift threatening. Your nurses took me right back. From the time I sat in the wheelchair until I left I wasn't alone. The care I received went above and beyond, what I believe, I would have received at the E.R. more

I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS FACILITY TO ANYONE 1/14/2011

I had a very sore throat, severe tightness in my chest and a temperature of 101. I called my family physician and was told that I would have to wait 4 days for an appointment. I went to Cedar Crest EmergiCenter on a Saturday night. I saw the doctor who examined me and ordered a chest xray and a test for my throat. Luckily, the xray showed that I didn't have pneumonia. It took less than 10 minutes for the lab test to confirm that I did have Strep throat. The doctor put me on medication and I was able to go back to work on Monday. I was so glad that I didn't wait until Tuesday to see my own doctor. The nurses were great! The doctor was top notch! I will definitely go back there. We are lucky to have such a well-equipped and accessible facility in this area. more

Great medical care 7/9/2010

My first experience was for an acute illness, I had recently fired my physician after 15 years of service and was in between providers; the emergicenter was up the street form my home and I went there for the convenience. I was so impressed with their efficiency and courtesy and the great medical care I received that I became a permanent patient of Dr. Shingles. After several illnesses and emergencies I can say that it was a decision I have never regretted. i recommend their services to everyone! more

Do NOT go to this place if you need prompt care. 4/8/2010

Took a family member here yesterday, she was complaining of chest pains and dizzyness, nausea. I figured it would be quicker han the hopital ER. Boy was I wrong! First of all, they never even asked why we were there. Don't you think if you choose the name ""EMERGICENTER"" that would lead people to think it was for emergency care? first thing they did was make us fill out 3 sheets of papers, then to wait. ""You're next"" was told to us about 4 times over the next 45 mins. THEY NEVER ASKED US WHY WE WERE THERE!!! Finally I got fed up and went across the street to Lehigh Valley Hospital ER. What a difference! We got an EKG wihin 5 mins, and in an ER bed within 10 mins. The staff was professional, freindly, genuine. They cared. The symptoms turned out to be indigestion, but you never know. Pros: Couldn't find any. Cons: What exactly does ""Emergi-Center"" mean? more

Unfriendly service 12/31/2007

The nurse was unnecessarily rude to my partner and I. She talked down to us and acted as if we were wasting her time by being there. The doctor was more polite but was very dismissive and rushed us out. more

Excellent, freindly, and professinal service 8/24/2007

I have on two occasions needed to use their services due to accidents in my home. On both occasions I received excellent service from a friendly staff. They took time to explain the various steps in their treatment which included a great number of stitches and the accompanying treatments. On the second trip there I remarked to the doctor that I was glad they were open so that I didn't need to go tho the emergency room and face a very long wait. He then let me know that if I had done so I would have had him stitching me there as he was the doctor on call for the emergency room. So I would have had the same doctor but it would have taken several hours longer and been much more expensive. They carefully explained what I should do when I returned home and didn't charge me for the follow-up appointments, despite me having to return on three occasions due to concern of inflection. In short, although I hope to not need their services for some time, they were wonderful, and I am glad they are there should I need them. more

Poor service- and still cleaning up years later... 4/22/2007

I was referred to the Ermergicenter by my insurance company while I was attending college in Allentown. It took them over an hour to see me, with an empty waiting room. The doctor did a very limited examination, and sent me home with antibiotics- ignoring the request from my home primary physician for a mono-test (and mono was going around the college at the time- and found out I did have mono and a swollen spleen when I saw my doctor at home the following week). At check out, the staff was very friendly, but unknowledgable. I had two insurances, and with all the time they had to check on my insurance (hour in the waiting room- and another hour waiting in the room and getting the exam), they were asking me what I owed. I payed the standard co-pay required from my primary insurance for emergency care visits, and asked they refund me if my secondary covered any of the visit. Now three years later, I am checking my credit report, and find out I owe them money, and have been sent to collections, without ever receiving a bill from their office. (I would have complained to my insurance company and dealt with them correctly, if I had actually gotten a bill!) Not only did I get poor service, a wrong diagnosis, and unneeded antibiotics, I now have a blemish on my credit report from their inability to bill correctly. Pros: location, walk-ins taken Cons: poor communication, untrained staff more

Better Off @ Any Decent Hospital ER Than This Place! 4/17/2007

Upon calling for info, front desk stated they do not take appts - first come, first served only. What a load of donkey dust! Upon arriving at this facility, the 1st thing I was asked by front desk is whether or not I had an appt! Pros: Parking, Nurses, X-Ray Tech Cons: Waiting Time, Dr's Bedside Manner, Failure to Follow-Up As Promised, Failure to Return Phone Call more

Never 7/25/2006

Doesn't care about anything. No need to go to a place like that when you aren't cared about. There are good doctors there and wonderful nurses, it's just a shame that they work there. Pros: Good hours Cons: Poor management more
