As a first time mom you want to know and do everything to ensure that you are having a healthy baby. You also want to know that your doctor is good at what he or she does. I feel like I have an advantage over a lot of people because I have the honor of working with Dr. McNeil in the opering room. Everyone would like to know that their doctor is skilled at what they do and Dr. McNeil is very good at what he does making it easy for me to choose him for my OB/GYN. They say beside every good man is a good woman. Well beside Dr. McNeil is an extraordinary staff. They are always pleasant, helpfull, friendly. And they know how to make you smile even when you don't feel like smiling. I have never had to wait more than five mins. before being seen. Every question I had no matter how trivial it may have seam always got an answer. There isn't enough words in any dictionary to discribe how supportive, nurturing and wonderfull Lucy and Darlene are. I'm going to keep this short and sweet. I read several of the previous reviews and agree with them. I have been very happy with everyone I've encountered at Bayview. I have had two children (one delivered by Spytek (sp?) and the other by Lucy. Both experiences were as pleasant as I could expect labor to be. I am so appreciative of them. They obviously enjoy what they do and take great pride in their work. more

I had the best expierence at Bayview, I've been going there since I was 16. I first dealt with Liz and she was absolutely wonderful. She made me feel so comfortable, she always made me laugh. She made me feel so comfortable, and she always told me everything she was going to do before she did it. Then I got pregnant with my first child, and I think I seen all the midwifes there. They were all very wonderful. Dr. Spytek delivered my daughter. She was very sweet. My labor and delivery went very well. Spytek was a wonderful midwife. Then I got pregnant with my second child, and I just had a connection with Lucy from day 1. She was wonderful. She is the best midwife there, I absolutely love her. She made me feel so comfortable. She knew I could do it, she had so much faith in me, I was so nervous going in and she made me feel so good. I will never forget this, but she said next time I have a baby she's just going to sit in the chair and let me husband do all the work. She is going to coach him through it, because she let him deliever our son. She said he did wonderful! We aren't to sure if there's going to be a next time! If so I will go back to Lucy no matter what! She is the greatest! I'm truly going to miss her! Pros: Everyone is supper nice! Very recommended place! Cons: To perfect for cons!!! more

Bayview OB/GYN is the best practice in the Bay area. I have been a patient of Dr. McNeill for 8 years and wouldn't trade him for the world. He's extremely nice and caring and has a good sense of humor. He has always made me feel extremely comfortable in every situation. I recently had my first baby and was able to rotate between Dr. McNeill and the midwives, Lucy and Darlene. Lucy delivered my daughter and she was great. Even though Lucy was scheduled to deliver my daughter, Dr. McNeill still came in to check on me while I was in labor. You feel safe in their confident hands. I wouldn't trust my care or the birth of my children to anyone else. Every person you encounter at the office is a joy from the receptionist to Annette (the ultrasound tech), to the doctors and midwives to the check out crew.\r The wait time at the office is generally minimal and whenever I call with questions or concerns, I have always been called back that day. Dr. McNeill, Lucy and Darlene take their time with you during appointments to answer your questions and you don't feel like you are being rushed out the door. The doctor, midwives and nurses are warm and personable. In today's world where so many doctors have forgotten the meaning of ""bedside manner"" this staff defines it. Pros: Best doctor/midwives. I am so glad that I was told about Bayview OB/GYN. When I found out that I was pregnant and that my current doctor did not do obstetrics, I was very nervous about who to go to. The doctors, midwives and nurses made me feel very welcome. They are knowledgeable, caring and make you feel like part of a family. I trust them completely. All three of my children were delivered by BayView and all three experiences were wonderful. After moving across the bridge, I still travel to St. Pete because I would not trust any other practice with my health or the health of my unborn children. No waiting time after check-in. All staff including doctor, midwife, and nurse are great! Very clean and nice office. I was in good hands and felt very safe to have my 1st baby . I would go back to this OB/GYN again when I have my 2nd baby. I will highly recommend them to everyone! more

I would highly recommend going to Bayview OB/GYN. Lucy is fantastic. She delivered both of my boys and made me feel so comfortable in the delivery room each time. With my second delivery, Dr. McNeill was called in because they thought they were going to have to use the vacuum. Although we did not end up needing his services he arrived to the hospital right away and stayed for the entire delivery. \r The staff was and still does answer all my questions or concerns in a timely fashion. whenever I call or when I am in the office. I, also, am pleased that they brought Darlean aboard the Bayview family. She makes you feel as comfortable as Lucy and was pleasure to see on some of my OB appointments.\r If my husband and I decide to have another child, Bayview OB/GYN will be the place we will go.\r \r \r \r more

After getting married and deciding the time was right to start a family, my sister recommended Bayview and Dr. McNeill as an ob/gyn. From the first visit, the entire staff treated me like I had been going to them for years! Dr. McNeill, Lucy and Darlene were patient with me and answered all the ""first pregnancy"" questions (no matter how stupid they sounded). The nursing staff was also very patient and helpful throughout my entire pregnancy! When the decision to induce was made, Lucy explained how it was going to work and answered my questions so that I understood exactly what was going to happen. She was with me every step of the way the day my son was delivered and after. I highly recommend using Dr. McNeill, Lucy, Darlene and the entire staff at Bayview!! The entire staff at Bayview Obgyn handled my pregnancy wonderfully. I was diagnosed with Hyperemesis, and they handled it from the very beginning- perventing it from getting out of control. Dr. McNeill delivered my beautiful baby girl, and everyone made me feel very welcomed and special. I highly recommend this practice! more

If you are looking for impeccable health care, look no further. I have been going to Bayview for 7 years and had three healthy boys thanks to them. Dr. McNeill handled all of my high risk pregnancies with perfection. His quick decision making actually saved my son's life.\r His staff is courteous and timely. Nurse Lucy Bosley is down to earth and is great for all your routine health care needs. \r I have recommended Bayview Ob/gyn to everyone I know- family, friends, and strangers. When I first moved to St Pete, my health insurance required me to pick my doctors the day I signed my contract, so I picked an OB practice at random. I quickly became pregnant but lost the pregnancy. Being a large practice, my physician was not able to see me or perform the D&C. The attending doctor did not talk to me about my situation or discuss options or ramifications of surgery. I looked for another practice and a friend suggested Dr McNeill and Bayview OBGYN. \r \r From day one at Bayview, I was welcomed and made to feel comfortable. I became pregnant again and they closely monitored my progress so if things went wrong, we would know immediately. I did lose the pregnancy early, but this time, options were discussed with me in depth. It was clear that Dr McNeill truly wanted what was best for me. He explained my situation in great detail, never rushed me and answered all my questions. Dr. McNeill gave great analogies so that I could easily understand what was happening with my body. He discussed all my options and helped me to make informed decisions about my health. \r \r I became pregnant a 3rd time and it was a healthy pregnancy. I did develop gestational diabetes and was felt very discouraged about my sugars and future health. However, after each apt, I felt encouraged and motivated by Dr. McNeill. He would give me positive reinforcement and motivate me to keep my spirits up. Dr. McNeill ended up having to perform an unplanned cesarean, which was done with expertise.\r \r The Bayview OBGYN staff is professional, yet personable, friendly and compassionate. They always ease my concerns, never rush me through an apointment, return my calls in a timely manner and fit me into the schedule. Each practice member goes out of their way to make me feel well-taken care of. I wish that all practices were of as high-quality as Bayview OBGYN. Pros: Knowledgeable, compassionate, personalized care Cons: If you have one of the last appointments of the day, you may have to wait a little, but that is because he takes his time with all his patients and HE IS WORTH THE WAIT! more

Making the decision to go to Bayview OBGYN would have to be one of the best decisions I have ever made. The staff are fantastic! I have been with them for 2 years and have always had the best care. They really know how to look after their patients. I normally don't write reviews. Ever....but I have to let everyone know what they are missing if they don't go to Bayview OBGYN for their care. I had a pregnancy that I was being cared for by Dr McNeil & his staff last year. I wound up going to a high risk doctor to make sure everything was ok because I'm over 35. At 19 weeks into my pregnancy, there were major complications and needless to say, the pregnancy had to be terminated due to multiple problems in that which the baby could not survive outside of my body. I had gotten a second opinion and there was nothing that could be done. It was the worst thing I've ever had to go through in my life. Dr McNeil took his own personal time to call me at home to make sure I was ok and to offer me comfort and the best explanation that he could offer. (Keep in mind that this part was all handled at another doctor's office and he didn't have to even get involved.) He even told me not to let what had happened dictate my future. I listened to him and wound up getting pregnant 4 months after my D&E. Last month he delivered my baby girl. Of course that didn't come easy either. I had a scheduled delivery planned for a Wednesday at 5 am. Dr McNeil had talked me through every step of what he was going to do. He was very patient with me and all my questions. I was in labor for 22 hours and then he finally broke the news that I had to have a c-section. I didn't have the baby until the next day at 3am!! The baby didn't want to turn her head and it was the only way she was coming out. Dr McNeil held my hand all the way to the operating room. I'm almost embarrassed to say that I found more comfort in him than my own husband!! The baby was out in no time flat and he even gave me stitches instead of staples since I had been through so much. Dr McNeil and his staff are so wonderful I would NEVER go anywhere else. I live in Bradenton and don't mind the drive. You couldn't pay me enough to trust anyone but them for my care. I have been going to bayview ob/gyn for 4 years now. I can't tell you how wonderful they are from the front desk to the doctors. This year my husband and I had our first baby. I was able to meet every practitioner in the practice. Everyone is great. They treat you with respect and make you feel comfortable. I recommend them to anyone! more

I have been going to Bayview since 2003. I highly recommend this practice, the staff is great - there isn't anyone in the office I have encountered that isn't friendly, professional and responsive. In all of my situtation (from GYN visits, pregnancies, miscarriages and eventually deliveries of healthy babies) they have proven to be compassionate and professional. Dr. McNeil, Nurse, Midwife Lucy Bosley and Dr. Spytek are all wonderful, knowledgeable and compassionate and caring. more

I have been going to Bayview for the time in which I relocated to Florida. Being a nurse myself, I am VERY picky about what doctors I go to and get the ""inside"" on who to go to and who not. Hands down this is the best practice! I had been going to the practice and seeing the NP, Liz for my yearly stuff, then we decided to have another child. We got pregnant almost right away trying, but to our dismay it ended with an ectopic pregnancy and emergency surgery. I had yet to meet MD McNeil at his point. My husband and I met him in the emergency room when we had to discuss the surgery and loss of our child. I couldn't have asked for a better doctor. He not only was supportive of me but my husband as well. He explained eveything, was empathetic and took time talking with us. I felt that I was in the best care possible. The same kind and caring bedside manner caried through on my follow up office visits. We got pregnant almost right away again and this time to full term. I loved everyone in the practice from MD Spytek to Lucy Bosley to the nurses who saw me initially. They made this pregnancy a pleasure to go through. During labor though our son started having complications and dropping his heart rate. I ended up having another emergency surgery, c-section this time. It was so bad that they couldn't wait to have my epidural dosed, and I had to have general anesthesia. My husband wasn't allowed in because of this, but MD McNeil was. He was there holding my hand reassuring me everything was going to be fine, we just needed to get the baby out. He met me in recovery with my husband and just as he said everything was fine. In my heart I know I was truly blessed with another child who was healthy and no complications. I also know that this was in fact due to MD McNeil and the excellent staff at Bayview. Everyone is truly exceptional. I would trust them time and time again with mine and my baby's care. I just can't say enough about them. I LOVE THEM! Pros: Competent and wonderful staff! Cons: Sometimes waited awhile, but understandable with the busy practice and I know waiting may be due to taking the time and care they showed me time and time again! more

I've recently delivered my second daughter by c-section and Dr.Spytek was wonderful in answering all my questions and putting my nerves at ease. Most of my visits were between Dr.Spytek and Lucy Bosly who is a great midwife with so much knowledge and is very caring and compassionate. The whole staff is unbelievable. I have been a patient at BayView OB/Gyn for many years now. I recently had my first baby and cannot imagine having gone through my infertility issues, pregnancy, pre-natal care and delivery with any other doctors (and mid-wife!) than those at BayView.
