Friendly and Excellent-Tremendously different than reviews 1/20/2010

I was so nervous about my escrow, after reading about this company online last month. I have been an REO agent for many years, this was my first listing with this particular bank. The bank chose this company in the contract. I spoke to other agents in the area and had heard that there was a tremendous improvment in the service at this escrow company, but was still unsure of what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. The escrow officer was terrific. She took my calls personally each time. If I had to leave a voicemail or email her she responded within just a few minutes. I received my escrow instructions via email the day after escrow opened. We closed yesterday and I received my check this morning. I have another escrow that just opened last week with them and I'm excited and hopeful for the same excellent service on this escrow. This is extremly rare in the REO world!!!! Worst escrow company ever in my 7 years of real estate career. 1/28/2009

This company is horrible in customer service, everyone there is very rude. The receptionist is rude, they treat us like second class citizen as if we were begging for money. We have to open escrow, not by choice. But because of the seller's choice/bank owned property. I have sent the escrow officer Kelly numerous emails, to request that she refunds my client deposit check. This was since Friday and I have not heard back from her via email/phone call. NOTHING. Is it illegal and unethical to hold on to client funds x days? This company is horrible and I wouldn't recommend using them if they were the only escrow company on earth. Cons: HORRIBLE more

I have been involved in a transaction with these people for over two months. In fairness, the delays were initially attributable to the lender (we are mortgage brokers), but we have had a very difficult time working with them from the beginning. They don't return calls, voice mails or e-mails, and when we are finally able to talk to a live person, she is typically rude and unhelpful. She often says that she is busy, and has other clients (as though were were unimportant). We have had to use them because the seller, a bank's asset disposition company in New York, required it. If you have a choice, save yourself the frustration and use another company. My experience was horrible and all of these previous reviews were all too familiar. This company has extremely poor customer service, no customer relations, and questionable business practices. If you are like me and found these reviews by accident when trying to find the person responsible for this company - it's probably too late. All that I can recommend is that you thoroughly review the work they do, perform a good deal of the work you are paying them to do yourself, and don't expect anything to be done in a timely manner. Their site boasts a 24-hr turnaround time - I have no idea what they are referring to. Excited about the new staff and service 6/19/2008

I have been thoughly shocked by the change in service and friendly staff. They have obviously read the reviews and management has done their job to change the problems. I have had problems on a few escrows but recently everything seems to have changed. I'm getting return emails and phone calls. The phone doesn't ring busy, they now have voicemail and I even got a return phone call. today from the person working on my file. The staff has been very friendly. I got my check from my last closing in 48 hours. I am excited to continue working with them and will definitly consider changing this to a 5 star rating if this service continues. The worst escrow company that I have ever worked with. 5/12/2008

Open heart surgery would be easier than working with these people. Monkeys could be trained to do escrow better than them. Two weeks to get the correct docs signed and still over charged buyer $1300. They were not willing to fix the double charges until seller called and told them they were wrong and they had to fix it. Didn't call for a week to say there were still conditions to be signed. They just don't care. Don't use them unless you like horribly service. Cons: Too many to list more

IF YOUR A BUYERS AGENT YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE YOU WRITE IN THE CONTRACT THAT YOU WRITE UNDER TITLE ANY RELIABLE COMPANY EXCEPT FOR CALIFORNIA SUNSET ESCROW. IF THE BANK OR BUYER SAYS THEY WANT CALIFORNIA SUNSET ESCROW YOU REALLY NEED TO FIGHT FOR ANY OTHER ESCROW COMPANY. We had all cash transaction that suppose to be fast and simple. We couldn't get the ESCROW docs for 3 weeks from anybody in the ESCROW. They even don't have voice mail and you are getting all the time number is busy. Cons: evrything was bad more

Not helpful one bit 4/18/2008

As I sit on hold (because ?let me get your file and call you back? is just a way of getting you off the phone) 1 month after the close of escrow I figure I have a little time to share my experience. First I find it very interesting that 7 or the 8 five star reviews were all written on the same day. Being that it was my first house I really didn?t know what to expect, heck I even thought folks would put in extra effort to help me out. Let me say that neither my realtor, loan officer, or myself ever spoke with the escrow person assigned to my file; EVER. Every time I called to speak to the person in charge of my file I got someone who didn?t know anything and would have to look into it (again to get me off the phone?) and call back, well I would never get the call back I had to keep calling back. Now it?s a month later and I still have not received my refund check or a check for adjustments that was never made before close. Since writing this I?ve found the reason I never received my check is because there was a problem with the address?Really?...You didn?t have the address of the house I just bought? You didn?t think to contact me and let me know what was happening? Something tells me the check to be ?Overnighted? isn?t going to make it either, but hey now you can get me off the phone! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY?LL DO EVERYTHING THEY CAN TO KEEP YOUR MONEY. Cons: PLEASE SEE REVIEW more

The Absolute Worst Escrow Company Ever!!!!! 4/17/2008

If you need more stress in your life use this company. The hardest I had to work in over 15 years as an agent. 3 1/2 weeks to get Escrow Instructions,then when we did get them, they were wrong.Spelling errors.Closing statement sent on wrong escrow. Commission was wrong on Instructions-they were giving my commission to some agent in San Diego that had nothing to do with the transaction. Phone was busy for hours, yes hours, at a time. NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING AT THIS COMPANY. They lost the funds on the first and second. Sent to the wrong title. This was figured out the day after we were supposed to close by a title rep! Fianlly the commission checks were sent out a week after closing, even though we were told they were sent out several days before. Their fees are insane! Especially for the service you recieve. You cannot believe one word they tell you. They act like they are doing you a favor. Karen the owner/escrow officer feels like if she says she is sorry...it is OK to make everyone else do their job! If you are working with them, I am sure it is because you are working with a bank owned property. NO realtor would use them twice!!! Funny how all the positive feed back was on the same day...I don't think so. No one would give them 2 stars...I am sure many of us would give them a big fat 0...if we could. Horrible Company 4/16/2008

This company has horrible service, you can never get through, they don't return calls, and they call clients personally rather than talking to agents. They tell one person one thing and then email another person another thing, as if we are not going to figure it out. I find it funny that about a month ago I informed them of the bad messages left here and if you look closely, you will notice the conveniently they received good message all in a two day period the day after I told them about these messages. It is probably their own staff writing good comments about themselves since everybody else doesn't like them. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU WANT STRESS IN YOUR LIFE. I am a mortgage broker & have used CA. Sunset Escrow for many years. There escrow officers are friendly and efficient. If I have special needs they take care of me & my borrowers personally. I get my HUDs quickly & accurately. I get my broker checks wired into my acct. within 48 hours of closing. I deal with 38 states & they handle all the transactions. California Sunset did my refi about a month ago, staff was attentive and efficient. I was late for my signing and they still made time for me, would recommend to all my friends and family, drive a little for great service. My escrow for my first home loan was with California Sunset Escrow. Not knowing the real estate, mortage or escrow industry, their staff took the time to explain everything to me in detail and were very patient with my limited knowledge. Exceptional Escrow Service 3/18/2008

Having worked with California Sunset Escrow on over 100 transactions I can only say that the unfavorable reviews posted to this site must be simple misunderstandings of the closing process. I and my clients have only received exceptional customer service from this group with professionalism throughout the closing process. Everyone in this industry has felt a ""pinch"" with the recent influx of certain business types, and service has been somewhat challenged everywhere accordingly, but these types of negative reviews seem unmerited. I would, have, and do recommend this group every opportunity I have without reservation. Pros: Professional through out the closing process more
