Overpriced for only sauna use. 1/15/2009

I checked out the sauna alone since so many great things were said about it and found really nothing spectacular about it. I used the facility but the shower and sauna area look like they need to be renovated, although I learned that the rest of the facility recently had a make over. The locker room is just too small. A few women came in to get ready for their treatments while I was taking a breather and it was instantaneously packed! No hair dryers out for use and only 2 make up stations. There was also a small coackroaach that said hello to me when I opened my locker. I was grossed out thinking of the places that little guy had gone through before making his appearance! Instead of asking for a refund and leaving I blocked it out of my head the rest of the time I was there. I'm not a prude when it comes to small insects but at a spa where my body is exposed and the rates they charge I'm not willing to give much leeway. Pros: Intimate space if that's what you like. Cons: Needs larger locker room. more

Wonderful experience 12/23/2008

I received an early Christmas gift for a Spa day. It was one of the best expeiences I have ever had. Massage, Facial and Pedicure. Nice people, relaxing facility. You gotta try this place. Thank You Burbank Spa more

Amazing Massage Therapists 11/11/2008

I had one of the best massages of my life. My technicians name was Jouni, strange name. He worked out all the bad knots and help dissipate this horrible headache i had for a few days. I am truly pleased with the excellent service I have received. Pros: Greta technicians, very professional Cons: None more

Great Service 5/2/2008

I have been going here for waxing and facials for two years now, and I am shocked by all the negative reviews. My experiences have ALWAYS been positive. I've been made to feel welcome, I never have to wait, street parking has been easy, and the services have been amazing. Julie has done a great job every time I've visited. In fact, I've moved out of Burbank, and I still come to this spa for their services because I like the way I've been treated. Pros: facials, waxing, overall service Cons: none more

THIS IS SERVICE? I THINK NOT! 6/26/2007

I have been to a few spas in my time and couldn't not believe this one. It was a gift, and it's the thought that counts completely in this case. I was given a gift cert. and couldn't believe the lack of professionalism, utter lack of experience, & cleanliness issues over the course of the few hours there. It started out with a pedicure by a lady who clearly had no experience. She went on about how difficult it is to put make the French tip on straight. She clipped the middle on some of my nails, so they're now all cracked and need to grow out. On to the manicure, same inexperienced job. She had the nerve to say, *I'm not going to file your nails, they look okay*. I had to plead with her to file them. I just kept feeling that my boyfriend completely wasted his money on this gift for me. Incredibly, after the rushed paraffin wax and then uneven French mani/pedi, I had to wait 30 minutes in a bathrobe in a public area for the massage therapist to come off of her break. Another employee asked, 'What did you have for lunch?" Then mentioned that with the package, lunch was provided...which was news to me! The small pumpkin-painted super dark facial room, better described as a closet, was downright dirty. Then, to top it all off, on my way out the door, I got attitude because the receptionist had another job to go to with a starting time of 5pm. Well, it was just after 5pm when the massage was finished, so now I'm being rushed out. Her work schedule isn't my problem, that's between her and the owner. Scheduling issues seemed to plague this place. How are these people in business? This was by far the worst day spa service that I have ever experienced. I truly thought at one point I was on a tv show...just waiting for someone to jump out. The funniest part was, I heard the owner complaining to his receptionist about about Non-tippers...well, yeah! Pros: There are so many other spas to go to! Cons: Too many to list...read my experience! more

Fantastic people working here 6/14/2007

I was very happy with the service I received. The staff cared for me like a queen. I received wonderful treatment for very economical pricing. Pros: Helpful staff more

cool spa 5/24/2007

this spa is awesome! I mean there's robes, private lockers, sandels and comditioner! I bring my own but this is the only spa with all that, that i know of. the people there are really nice, and helpful. Unlike other spas that charge for everything, Burbank Spa and Garden also give complimentary Eculyptus oil. And for those who don't know what that is, it clears up your sinus and smells good too. I always get the best massages, and of course your not going to like everyone's tenique, you've got to try them until the shoe fits. I got my nails done the other day as well as a facial for a friends birthday bash, and the service was awesome! they made me tea, and hot packs to keep me warm and comfortable. A very pampering service getting your nails done here, because it's an hour each for the manicure and pedicure. I got a lil decorations on my nails that look really pretty, and the girls working on me we're quite knowledgable on what they do. Like i didn't know that if you don't take care of your rough heels, the skin will seperate and make creavaces and hurt until their filed down, or you get a glycolic on your feet, Which takes away that cracked, dead skin. My FACIAL on the other hand was even better than the mani and pedi! I was a skin treatment and mini massage all rolled into one. The girl I saw analized my skin first and asked some questions about it so she could do her job right i guess, and started, also telling me about how to take care of my skin, and what i should fix in my skin care routine. The facialist also makes comission, so she recommended some products, which i bought 2. The equilizer and a moisturizer. Not too bad prices like 20 bucks for a big bottle of the equilizer. It'll take me months to finish that thing. Over all very clean spa, nice staff members, smart too, best priced, and service in town. Pros: great cust. serv., relaxing mani. pedi and facial Cons: don't mess up your nails! and stay out of the sun after your facial more

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, THIS PLACE IS A RIP-OFF 5/19/2007

Don't go here. Whatever you do. You will regret it. I had two services scheduled as a treat for myself ? and boy was I disappointed, and felt ripped off. First of all, my facialist (Yvette) left the room to answer her CELL PHONE (!) for a total of 10 minutes in an hour-long facial. She barely apologized nor did she offer to make up the time! The facial was both awful and painful. She put on one mask, and the rest of it just had steam in my face. The extractions were the most painful I've ever had and left my face marked up. And all of this costs $150. You will have better customer service and a better facial just about anywhere else in the city. The massage I got the same day was also hysterically bad. I would compare it to the amount of pressure I use to moisturize in the morning. Not to mention the massage room was nothing more than a tiny booth with a flimsy sheet used as a divider ? not a solid door ? a SHEET!! It wasn?t even as tall as the ceiling so not only was there no actual door, there was noise coming in from all sides. I could hear the other clients and everything that was going on in their massages. And it cost so freaking much, I left feeling depressed and broke. Not to mention they try to push products on you as you are leaving, like they haven't milked you for enough money. The facialist was more interested in her personal phone call than me as a client, and the receptionist was plain rude. She didn?t even ask me how I liked my services, and I was there for four hours!! All they care about is making a fast buck off of you. Zero customer service. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else, you won't regret it. In fact, you'll be thankful you read the reviews here first. Cons: Rude staff, terrible spa treatments, hard to find parking, too expensive more

Great Spa in Burbank! 5/18/2007

Highly professional and great customer service. Celia is great for both manicures and pedcaures, while Yevette is best for facials. The atmosphere is relaxing. The front staff is courteous and inviting. Pros: Experts are employed; relaxing atmosphere. Cons: None more

very BAD experience, and I was injured during my mani/pedi !!! 5/14/2007

This was by far the worst manicure and pedicure that I have ever received. I had a female technician, don't know her name, and she was very, very bad. During the scrubbing/exfoliation part of the pedicure, she scrubbed off the skin on the side of my foot and made the skin come off. I didn't realize the full scope of my injury until afterwards when I inspected my foot. There is a whole portion of my skin the size of my pinky nail that is now gone. Though she realized her error and put some stuff on it, she less than apologetic. It's now incredibly sore and I don't even want to think of my risk for disease from it. The massage part lasted 30-60 seconds per leg, which also sucked. I chose dark red nail polish and he had to make corrections with nail polish remover on the edges of most of my nails. During the manicure she also cut me AGAIN. Again, not very apologetic. She said and I quote "sorry I cut too much" She put the junk on that injury too. The manicure massage was a lot better than the foot massage, but it wasn't even close to as good of a massage as I have received elsewhere. I came away with a quite crappy nail and toenail polish job and I got 2 injuries. The nail polish has already flaked off of one of my nails and I have been careful all day. Never shall I return! Do yourself a favor and avoid this place!!! Cons: surly staff, inexperienced technician more

friendly staff, amazing place, extremely relaxing. you are taken care of here! 5/10/2007

you walk into the spa feeling welcomed and comfortable. you will leave feeling relaxed and refreshed. you feel like you are in a million dollar spa. there are personal lockers, saunas, private massage rooms. the staff greets and speaks to you like they've known you forever. Pros: customer service! Cons: street parking more

Nice people, excellent service 5/7/2007

I needed to relax and Burbank Spa delivered. They took such good care of me. The massage was pleasurable and relaxing. I think I fell asleep right at the end. Thank you for the great experience Pros: Nice people more

CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE, WHATSOEVER 4/26/2007

I really don't like writing bad reviews, but I felt I had to in this case. I had high hopes for this spa, and since it is near my house - wanted to like it. Their facilities looked really nice online and Burbank needs a full-service decent day spa. Unfortunately, my experience at Burbank Spa was way more stressful than relaxing. When I first I went I got one just-okay service. Because its close to me and as I said, I REALLY wanted to like it, I thought I'd try again. My visit a few months later was really bad, in almost every way. The staff has really gotten out of control with attitude. I asked for the same therapist again and found out she had already quit. Apparently not that many people are happy working here, according to what the receptionist told me (which was inappropriate in and of itself.) My massage with the new girl was awful. She was very inexperienced, which in itself is not terrible, but in addition to forgetting to do basic things that the other technician did (like tell me before she was about to put a hot towel on my face or something; there was also a lot of hair pulling) the massage was just really bad and she finished early. I definitely didn't get what I paid for. I left in so much pain that it lasted through the next day. I felt terrible. To top it off, when I checked out I was overcharged. I noticed it and they apologized and voided (they said) the entire charge and charged again the correct amount. The front desk staff assured me that it was voided properly and would process immediately but sure enough, it wasn't and I spent the next week trying to get the now DOUBLE overcharge off my account. I am not that hard to please, but this was really the worst experience I've ever had at a spa. Though the facilities are close to me and I had one Ok massage therapist a while back, there are just way too many problems for a place that charges this much. I hope you can avoid my bad experience. There are much better places to go. Needs new management! Cons: TERRIBLE FACIAL, RUDE SERVICE, WON'T GO BACK more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! DO NOT GO HERE!! 4/24/2007

I bought a day spa package for myself for my birthday and as a way to relieve myself from the stress I'm going through with my husband's recent death. I had thought it would be a good way to spend the day and unwind and hopefully relax a bit. The website is misleading - it makes it look like a nice place but it's an old building with peeling paint and holes in the walls. The masseuse seemed friendly - I started to relax a little. Then the pounding started! They were doing renovations next door and during the entire treatment hammers were pounding and drills were reverberating and my head started splitting from the noise. I was tense and upset and left without getting the rest of the day's treatments. They are completely demolishing the building that joins their building and so there are men/construction workers running around yelling in what is supposed to be the relaxing garden... Relaxing huh?? I don't want men looking at me in a robe! And you have to walk OUTSIDE to get from the massage room to the other treatment rooms!! They do not tell you that when you make the appointment. Sorry, but I don't want to be outside in my robe on Magnolia Blvd -- especially not in front of a construction crew. The management didn't seem to care - the offered to let me come back the next day when the workmen wouldn't be there but it was a bit of a drive for me and I had other things to do the next day. And then they still charged me full price for the massage! They should have told me that a) they had stairs to climb (I have arthritis and have trouble with stairs) and b) about the construction! I left crying and angry and upset - a wonderful way to spend my first birthday without my husband. They were not professional at all! Very bad experience, wouldn't recommend, spend your hard-earned money elsewhere! Will never go back. I should have read these reviews first. Cons: loud, no privacy, overpriced, unfriendly staff more

Helpful beyond belief 4/23/2007

I wanted to get my wife a special birthday gift. I decided on a spa day. I don't know nothing about what a spa day is. I met with the manager and she went over all of the options and pricing. I put together what I hoped was a perfect day for her. I gave her the present. She scheduled her day. She came back so happy with the way she was treated and how nice hte day was planned out, I just had to write and let you know that you guys are doing a wonderful job. Thank You Pros: Helpful staff more

Awful Service, Wildly Overpriced. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. 4/23/2007

The treatment room felt like a closet. You expect a room where you get a massage to be cozy, this wasn?t. It was stuffy and HOT! The massage therapist asked me to take off my bathrobe without helping me with a towel and when I did ask her for a towel to cover me she started laughing out loud. During my massage, she was talking out loud the whole time while chewing gum! The massage sucked big time. She was hurting me and actually at one point she pulled my hair. On the top of that, while massaging, and without any prior notice, she threw a really HOT towel on my back! I have to mention that the therapist kind of had B.O. When she was done, with no warning she just left the room. Then, to make things worse, the payment took a little bit over half an hour. We kept wondering why it is taking so long with no answers given to us. I had to be somewhere and was late because of that. The manager finally asked us if we liked the treatment and I said I didn?t; she didn't even bother to ask what went wrong. I will NEVER be going there ever again. I had actually thought of giving gift certificates from there but after going, I don?t want to let my friends have such a bad experience. I also have to mention that their prices are ridiculously higher than other spas in the area. Pros: ? Cons: overpriced, rude massage therapist, long lines, not relaxing more

VERY BAD SPA - DON'T WASTE YOUR $$ HERE 4/23/2007

I went to the this spa last month with with three other girls for the first appointments of the day. The day started out horribly when the spa wasn't even open when we arrived. We ended up waiting in the street, with other staff and customers, for almost 30 minutes before the manager casually strolled up and opened the door. He, along with the rest of the front staff, was very unapologetic and didn't even offer to hang our coats or offer us something to drink. We sat in the "lounge" and watched the staff frantically clean up messes, light candles, set up the rooms, and complete other tasks that should be done well before customers show up. My hot stone massage was first up and I didn't get a locker, slippers or a robe to change into. I noticed that they have a couple of TINY change rooms (similar to those in the clothing stores) and a limited number of lockers. After our services, we all agreed that they didn't quite meet our expectations and they definitely weren't anything special. The "lounge" is hardly that...it was within feet of the manicure and pedicure stations and the space was tight. At most, it could probably fit six people comfortably. The space wasn't a space that allowed for much relaxation and we almost felt like we were being rushed out in order to accommodate the customers that were filtering in. There are FAR better spas in the area that are similarly priced, where you can really unwind and feel spoiled. The quality of the management and ownership is highly questionable. Afterwards, I was simply promised a telephone call to apologize and offer us some sort of consolation. It's been a couple of weeks and I have given up hope that I will receive anything from them. The most that they would probably offer would be a gift certificate. But I wouldn't have a use for it. I wouldn't go back, nor would I recommend this place to anyone. Pros: None Cons: Rude staff, rushed, below average services, cramped and NO PRIVACY more

Very nice and professional 4/20/2007
