I recently moved to the Burbank area and was very excited to drive by what looked like a cozy local "Spa & Garden." While the Burbank Spa & Garden is charming and has a good selection of services / menu unfortunately both times that I have gone here for massages (once swedish massage and the other time a deep tissue massage), I have been extremely disappointed with the massage itself. A few examples of what I had a problem with at my last visit: way too much lotion / oil used (I was drenched in massage oil and she just kept pumping more on me), my masseuse went very fast with the massage strokes (up and down up and down my leg, my arms, everywhere, back and forth fast fast fast, there was no slow, nice, relaxing pressure), and there was very little focus on the areas I said I wanted her to work on (the middle of my back and feet -it was more like she was just massaging a little bit all over and I kept waiting for her to get to my problem areas). I also noticed that the masseuses wrists and elbows seemed to keep popping in and out of socket, as well as a sort of grinding noise coming from her joints as she was working... I asked what the popping of her elbows was and if she was OK and she responded, "oh, I'm cracking, I do that all the time out of habit... I don't even realize I'm doing it." Wow. Her joint jolts and grinding was extremely distracting. I was also disappointed by the lack of professionalism from my masseuse, for example: midway through the massage when it was time for me to turn from my back to my stomach, she was standing down by my feet and ask me to turnover without offering to help with the towel covering my body for privacy. So there I am, naked under this towel, and she is not holding it up properly so I can roll over with privacy... therefore, I am trying to turnover on my own while keeping this towel in place in an effort to keep my private areas and breasts from being exposed. Not cool. There were a few other issues as well... Overall, I am just really disappointed I did not get a decent massage... I needed it.
Pros: Relaxing atmosphere, good selection of services
Cons: 2 for 2 on Poor Massages
