Biagio's is the best! 2/24/2010

Biagio on Moody Street, Waltham, is our now favorite restaurant. I have been there on four occasions. The d?cor is done in a tasteful old world style faux finish reminding me of what I saw at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. There is a great winding staircase leading to Balcony seating on the second floor, a great party room with comfy sofas/ dance floor and bar upstairs, and a patio on the second level for alfresco dining when in season. Downstairs is where the fine dining takes place and again the d?cor is tasteful and well thought out. With the said, I recommend for you to make a reservation, to ensure a seat, as this restaurant fills up very quickly. We, however, on two occasions, did not have a reservation (including a surprise dinner out on my Birthday with my husband), and the owners gave us genuine consideration and wonderful seating accommodations. Let me tell you, I adore the Pear and Gorgonzola Salad; my husband had the appetizer special of Beef Carpario, and was not disappointed at all. I have also had the Calamari and it was succulent and cooked to perfection. Two of my personal favorites are the Veal OssoBuco and the Pasta Bolognese. The veal is so tender you do not need a knife; the Bolognese is flavorful and light at the same time with homemade noodles. My husband had the Jumbo Scallops and Risotto and they were cooked perfectly and had a sweet flavor to them. He also had the Shrimp Scampi and the shrimp again were fork tender and the Alfrado sauce was brimming with flavor and still light. The wine list gives you a variety of choices and pairs nicely with all the courses. Not to be forgotten is the dessert menu. The homemade Bread Pudding with Cranberries is beyond what I ever thought a bread pudding could be, and the filled to order Canolis are amazing with a hint of a liquor flavor. The host and servers are friendly, accommodating, and make your dining experience most enjoyable. You will not be disappointed, you must try Biagio for yourself and see the best Italian Restaurant in Waltham is hidden beside the train tracks. It is a true culinary treasure, featuring authentic Italian cuisine and gracious hospitality. Pros: Great authentic food, great atmosphere, warm hospitality more

AWESOME FOOD AND DRINKS!!! 2/18/2010

My boyfriend and I came here on V day after Cafe Escadrile lost our reservation. Biagios thankfully squeezed us in! We had our servers suggestion of excellent pear salad, incredible veal osombuco and the AWESOME CHOCALATE SOUFLE! The absoult BEST was the chocalate martini made with real godiva chocalate. After dinner our server suggested we chill out in there lounge this is very NY or LA atmosphere. To our surprise they reserved us a couch where my boyfriend and I drank the bartenders suggestion of the Biagios Xpresso martini so yummy! To my surpeise my boy friend proposed and pictures were snapped and tears of joy were wept thank you BIAGIOS for making our night so perfect we will tell all are friends and family about you! We're glad we ended up here thank you to the gentle man who squeezed us in and thank you to the whole Biagio staff!!! YOU MUST TRY THE VEAL! By the way to the diva who wrote they ran out of chicken for her son, lighten up its only chicken ! Pros: FOOD ATMOSPHERE LOUNGE more

Run out of food? 2/14/2010

Happy Valentine's Day.... after working all day my son waited until very late in the evening (the reservation time he was given) & took his girl to Biagio's for dinner after exchanging gifts. At the door they couldn't get his name correct on the reservation list so they were made to wait while they seated others then they were sent upstairs to wait again & told a table would be ready in a few minutes. They sat on a sofa while a table was set but were left there sitting in the lounge until they approached someone asking if that was their table. They ordered an overpriced appetizer then were told that the restaurant had ""run out of chicken parm"" for my son's girlfriend. She was offered pork which she does not eat. The menu is limited. The waitress returned saying ""they found one"". Assuming that meant they were going to be served a pre-prepared or frozen meal they cancelled their order, paid the bill & left. Pros: roofdeck Cons: inconsistent service & food more

The worst service we've ever had, bar none! 1/17/2010

The restaurant was pretty with cathedral ceilings and several chandeliers hanging, ceiling murals, very Italian d?cor. But, the service was terrible...so bad that Bob had to get up and complain to one of the owners. Finally, the waitress quickly handed our drinks and appetizers and left. Just then there was a loud rumble and Helen said, ""What is that?"" I told her that the restaurant is right next to railroad tracks and that was a passing train that she heard. (I guess we're all a little tense because of the Haiti disaster) So, we're talking and laughing when all of a sudden, CRASH!!!! A large, heavy ceiling fixture near the chandelier DROPPED on our table just missing Bob's head by inches. Sitting next to him, I let out the LOUDEST scream and all the people in the entire restaurant echoed in unison! We were all FROZEN! So what do you think the owner did? NOTHING! NO APOLOGY! NO FREE DRINKS OR DESSERT! ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! We all waived him over and he stood near our table staring at us. When we told him what happened, he barely managed to utter a grumble. We asked him to replace the drinks that were ruined, and rather than just bring fresh drinks, they asked each of us if our drinks were OK the way they were, and left it up to us to re-order. Needless to say it was not a boring night, but we will NEVER go back to that restaurant! Steve & Cheri - Norwood Pros: None we can think of! Cons: Lousy Service! more

Great Experience 8/31/2008

I had heard about Biagios and had driven by a couple of times but had never been in. My friend recomended Biagios and I went there with some people from work. Since I was early I decided to have a drink at the downstairs bar while I waited for my other co-workers. As I waited with my drink I looked around and noticed how nice the restaurant looked. Pros: Parking, Ambience, Service more

Best Place on Moody Street 8/20/2008

I am not usually one you comes home and writes a review about the experience that I have had at a restaurant but I could not help but want to write one about Biagio?s. My boyfriend and I have finally a found a place where it is worth going on Moody Street. We went in on Saturday night. We sat at the upstairs bar and although it was busy we were greeted by a very friendly bartender who made us two amazing espresso martinis. The atmosphere was great and was packed with a thirty plus professional crowd. The music was awesome and when I asked them where they got the re-mixes they stated that they had a dj that made them just for them. Our dinner was amazing and the veal chop was out of this world. The bartender had full knowledge of the menu and helped us out with pairing the right wine with our dinner entrees. I would recommend this place to anyone and will also be contacting them this week to book a private function in their function room for my upcoming company party. We are very pleased that we have finally found a quality place in Waltham that is worth every dollar of our money and every moment of our dining time. more

Come to Biagio's for summer fun on the patio 8/20/2008

Biagio's is the best. I came here a few times last summer for drinks with my girlfriends on the patio . . . I came here again last weekend and was not disappointed. Biagio's has a new drink menu that features some really great martini's and mojito's. My favorite is the Capri-A yummy and not too sweet lemon delight. The red sangria is also so good- the best I've tried! Come to Biagio's for some good drinks, good food, good times : ) more

Not woth the trip 8/9/2008

I have been to this restaurant a few times each time thinking it would get better! It DID NOT! The food is not consistent and the service is awful. The loud atmosphere does not make for an enjoyable experience. The favorite meal that I had there was taken off the menu! It is a great location and the porch is nice when the weahter is good! more

great food, fantastic wine list, fun on any occasion 8/7/2008

I've frequented Biagio's a few times and always had a good time. The first time I went was for a catered event upstairs and the food was great! The buffet was huge and encompassing, making it possible for vegetarians or kosher (not mixing meat and cheese) patrons to have plenty to eat. The music was great, and the upstairs bar even has a patio. The second time I went to Biagios, I ate a more formal dinner downstairs that was also very enjoyable. It seems that their specials change frequently and all of the seafood dishes I've order are phenomenal. I would definitely recommend their fried clams and caprese salad (both specials) as well as the scallops and seafood stew (regular menu). There is also your typical italian chicken/veal parm as well as scampi. Both are excellent and still out of the ordinary. I plan to go back for a third experience! Pros: quality of food, space, prices more

Best Food, Best Late Night 8/7/2008

I have been living in Waltham for some time now, and I frequent Solea, however the other night I thought I would give Biagio's a try. Well, I can say that I will be coming here a lot more often. They have incredible food and a huge selection of appetizers that went great with my many cocktails. I sat in their lounge upstairs but eventually moved on to the patio. The servers are very accomodating and friendly and the bartenders are open, friendly, and efficient. I never had to wait too long for anything. I fell in love with the Limoncello Martini and their wonderful, fresh Caprese salad. Pros: Parking, Service, Cocktails, Late Night, Ambience more
