The restaurant was pretty with cathedral ceilings and several chandeliers hanging, ceiling murals, very Italian d?cor. But, the service was terrible...so bad that Bob had to get up and complain to one of the owners. Finally, the waitress quickly handed our drinks and appetizers and left. Just then there was a loud rumble and Helen said, ""What is that?"" I told her that the restaurant is right next to railroad tracks and that was a passing train that she heard. (I guess we're all a little tense because of the Haiti disaster) So, we're talking and laughing when all of a sudden, CRASH!!!! A large, heavy ceiling fixture near the chandelier DROPPED on our table just missing Bob's head by inches. Sitting next to him, I let out the LOUDEST scream and all the people in the entire restaurant echoed in unison! We were all FROZEN!
So what do you think the owner did? NOTHING! NO APOLOGY! NO FREE DRINKS OR DESSERT! ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! We all waived him over and he stood near our table staring at us. When we told him what happened, he barely managed to utter a grumble. We asked him to replace the drinks that were ruined, and rather than just bring fresh drinks, they asked each of us if our drinks were OK the way they were, and left it up to us to re-order.
Needless to say it was not a boring night, but we will NEVER go back to that restaurant!
