Review content:
Biagio on Moody Street, Waltham, is our now favorite restaurant. I have been there on four occasions. The d?cor is done in a tasteful old world style faux finish reminding me of what I saw at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. There is a great winding staircase leading to Balcony seating on the second floor, a great party room with comfy sofas/ dance floor and bar upstairs, and a patio on the second level for alfresco dining when in season. Downstairs is where the fine dining takes place and again the d?cor is tasteful and well thought out. With the said, I recommend for you to make a reservation, to ensure a seat, as this restaurant fills up very quickly. We, however, on two occasions, did not have a reservation (including a surprise dinner out on my Birthday with my husband), and the owners gave us genuine consideration and wonderful seating accommodations. Let me tell you, I adore the Pear and Gorgonzola Salad; my husband had the appetizer special of Beef Carpario, and was not disappointed at all. I have also had the Calamari and it was succulent and cooked to perfection. Two of my personal favorites are the Veal OssoBuco and the Pasta Bolognese. The veal is so tender you do not need a knife; the Bolognese is flavorful and light at the same time with homemade noodles. My husband had the Jumbo Scallops and Risotto and they were cooked perfectly and had a sweet flavor to them. He also had the Shrimp Scampi and the shrimp again were fork tender and the Alfrado sauce was brimming with flavor and still light. The wine list gives you a variety of choices and pairs nicely with all the courses. Not to be forgotten is the dessert menu. The homemade Bread Pudding with Cranberries is beyond what I ever thought a bread pudding could be, and the filled to order Canolis are amazing with a hint of a liquor flavor. The host and servers are friendly, accommodating, and make your dining experience most enjoyable. You will not be disappointed, you must try Biagio for yourself and see the best Italian Restaurant in Waltham is hidden beside the train tracks. It is a true culinary treasure, featuring authentic Italian cuisine and gracious hospitality. Pros: Great authentic food, great atmosphere, warm hospitality
