Worst

I was charged $575 for minor repairs on a sink and toilet. Three days later the toilet started leaking. I was then told the toilet had to be replaced for another $750. I called a ...

Almost threw $812 away. 11/3/2016

Technician came out. Looked at the location of my leak. Immediately determined the entire shower drain would have to be replaced. He never actually ran any water to see exactly where the leak was. When I told him $812 was too expensive, he called his boss and they said how about $500? This of course made me trust them even less. I paid the $69 trip fee and sent him in his way. Another company came in, actually diagnosed the problem, ran water, and determined that all that was needed was to secure a lose fitting. Cost me $50. I will never call Benjamin Franklin again. more

My old water heater died. Ben Franklin Plumbing did a fantastic job of taking away my old one and installing my new one. My water heater is located in a small space and they went out of their way to install the new one in the same place without making changes! more

Bad Customer Service 11/3/2016

At my townhome I lost water. Called Benjamin Franklin plumbing due to the fact they are associated with One Hour Heating & Air that I have a contract on my rental property (the townhome). They came and the first thing they checked was the water supply coming from the street. A neighborhood child had turned off my water. He turned it back on and charged me $135.00. I called to speak to the general manager and he refused my calls. Do not EVER use Benjamin Franklin because they will overcharge you and take advantage of you. more

Completely Satisfied 11/3/2016

Back in the spring we had our AC serviced and signed up for a maintenance / service program and was told about the Benjamin Franklin Plumbing external drain line protection insurance. Well, we have had issues with tree roots before so I signed up for the policy. A few days ago, our drains were not draining and I called Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. It was on a Saturday and the friendly receptionist on the phone said she would try to get a plumber out to look at the problem as soon as possible, but being a Saturday, emergencies were were being addressed as first priority. Well, literally within 1/2 hour a mobile service technician called and said he could be at our house in 45 minutes! I was astounded! It turns out that my fears were true and the main drain line outside was clogged with roots. The plumber said he would need to call for a back-hoe to dig up the line and replace it. I thought this would be a multi-day undertaking, but he said it would be done before the end of the day. It only took the crew about 3 hours and everything was back as it was before, but now draining as it shoud. Thanks you, Benjamin Franklin Plumbing for such fast, expert service! And, that service policy? Well it would have cost us thousands if we had not taken out that policy, instead we paid nothing! Best Regards, John more

This is the second and last time I use Benjamin Franklin. I had a pipe burst in my front yard and due my last work was a ""Priority Customer"" and got Kim out to my house. He was on it about getting water back to my house as soon as possible, but that was about it. As soon as he got paid I had to track him down for answers and time frames for the completion of the project after that...he got his money and was outta here. He offered no follow-up, which would have been nice considering the nightmare of a sub contractor, Todd Weist, that came in to dig the trench for the pipe...this guy did not care about my property at all. He clearly stated to me that he had no responsibilities outside of digging the trench and that is exactly how he and his crew handled it. No follow-up from Kim or anyone else at BF. Please, think and make another call before you use these guys...you might thank me later. more

When the water heater broke last Thursday morning, I immediately panicked seeing the amount of water rushing from under the broken unit and starting to flood my basement. What I did seconds after that is what saved my carpet, walls, furniture and electrical equipment? I gave Benjamin Franklin a call. It was a great relief when you showed up in a very timely manner and ensured that there was no further damage to my home.\r \r I appreciate the expert due diligence that was performed on the environment and the various options you provided me. I felt I had many choices, was well informed and feel good having followed your recommendations. I decided to replace everything since the home is 20 years old and these being all original units. I am a single woman in my 60/?s who is so thankful for this company. I had a pipe burst while I was at work and came home about 6:30 pm to water gushing from a broken pipe under the house. Even thought their schedule was full, they got someone there to help, (unlike a different company I called, who advertise emergency help but was unable to provide it!). The technician, Jeff, was so understanding and helpful and saved the day. I can imagine what my water bill might have been! Thank you so much. I will definitely use this company again. more

I just wanted to send a note to tell you how AWESOME this company is. First, you guys totally saved the day when I needed a service call. The tech that came out to my house was great, efficient and explained everything to me very well. He explained the Club Membership program to me and I decided to enroll. I literally just got off the phone at 11:05pm to schedule my annual system flush/maintenance. How cool is it that I can truly call and speak with a live person this time of night?! Way Cool. Then, I just talked to the friendliest guy ever. His name is Tavares (my apologies if I spelled it wrong). He was so nice and helpful that I couldn't help but to smile the entire time. To receive that level of service this time of night is truly amazing. The company is solid. We had them come out give us a quote, and they started the work immediately. Their plumber Kim Knopp is the best we have ever dealt with. We experienced brown water coming through the pipes, he was their prior to the appointment & very professional. They also had the owner T Rae, come out to check the job afterwards. The city also came by to review the work, job well done. Fair pricing, & very professional. more

I would not deal with these people. I have seen them in the Steele Creek area where I have lived since 1982. All the houses here in 12 Oaks were plumbed with black pipe running from the house to the meter. I have seen dozens burst and require replacing. It is very simple to trench beside the old line and drop in another beside it. My neighbor did his in 4 hours with a tiller and shovel. This is the second time I have seen Ben Franklin on my street recently and each time it takes days for them. Today will be the fourth at my neighbors and the guys sit in two vans outside the house all day without shoveling the dirt back in the ditch just milking the clock. They did not even have a backhoe and rented one from United Rentals that was delivered and picked up yet they still sit there. I wonder if it is a low income government supported deal. more

Would not give an estimate of work on the phone, the employee said they ""had to look"" but since we bought the kitchen sink fixture and just needed it installed, and she said ""I don't think it'll cost that much"" we had them come to the house. Come to find out the plumber said ""It's a FIXED cost for this particular item, it costs $280 for 1 hour of work and they want you to join 'some club' to get a reduction. DO NOT LET THEM SET A FOOT ON YOUR PROPERTY without getting an estimate of the work value first, they charge a $60 service fee that they pretend to ""wave"" when they gauge you for your repairs! The technician smelled my garbage disposal and recommended based on 'smell' that it be 'replaced'... oh by the way it worked FINE, did i mention I couldn't use it CAUSE THE KITCHEN SINK WATERS OFF duh! And the technician went into my garage without my permission and put an 'emergency sticker' with their number on my hot water heater! Um... I'm home, did you ask permission to go in my garage??? NO. STAY THE HECK AWAY from this plumber. That being said... they're ontime, polite and no plumbers cracks. I have used this plumber for several repairs, they do good work, and they cost too much. more

Terrible. Estimates going from $2800 (before a club discount) to $4100 once our insurance company was involved a year later. (which was doctored because they didn't apply the club discount to the original estimate). They had kleenpro come out to clean up, who is pushy about having their flooring man do the repairs. Shady, you can tell an obvious lie. They contradicted themselves over and over again. Do NOT use Benjamin Franklin for your plumbing needs. I wish I had looked at their rating before using them. more
