Best bike shop in New England 5/26/2008

I have been cycling for over 40 years and ride/race over 250 miles/week. On one of my rides I happened by ATA and entered bike heaven. THE best selection of quality bikes with a knowledgeable/friendly staff. Husam suggested that I might get more power if he tweaked my fitting. After spending over 90 minutes doing a comprehensive fitting (computer, laser..all the stuff) he set my bike up and I rode away. As promised, I could tell a huge difference in my power. The bikes you drowl over in Velonews? He's got'em. So..great bikes, great staff and great support what more could you ask? Oh, one more thing... they don't look at you funny when you ask them to repair your Campy stuff...they actually carry the parts! If you haven't been to this shop you owe it to yourself to stop by and enjoy the best bike shop in New England. more

The Best Bike Shop 5/25/2008

ATA Cycle is arguably the best bike shop in the US. ATA?a owner, Husam, offers amazing bikes and equipment. This is just the start. The fitting one gets ATA?s special fitting room is unique. Using special equipment, they will spend hours and sometimes days with you fitting the bike to your body. Never did I know that fitting made that much of a difference. I?m now able to bike for hours and not experience pain or muscle soreness. As a result, I bike more than I ever did. In addition to the fitting, ATA also offers very personalized and highest quality service. \r \r I wish I had discovered ATA sooner.\r more

Get yourself down to ATA 5/22/2008

I've been a regular customer of the ATA Concord store since it opened, and can honestly say that I have never had a bad experience. The quality of the merchandise coupled with the outstanding service makes a trip to ATA worth your time and money. I'm able to bring my bike, which I purchased there, in for repair on a moments notice and have it ready the same day. The quality of the merchandise is quite frankly better than all of the other large bike shops combined. So, if what you're looking for is a friendly knowledgeable bike shop staff as well as the highest quality cycling gear, get yourself to ATA. Pros: Service, Knowledge, Quality more

Worth the trip 5/21/2008

Clearly a cut above your average bike shop. Vast selection of true pro bikes and accessories with a friendly staff that has the expertise to back up the sales of their products. Their team kit is especially classy and tasteful. I would reccommmend this shop to any experienced or novice cyclsit. Pros: Two locations Cons: Parking in Cambridge more

Pure Professionalism 5/19/2008

This is without question the best bike shop around. I bought a road bike at the shop in Concord recently and I'm delighted. The owner Husam is a pure professional who is dedicated to helping each customer attain his maximum enjoyment from the sport. His encylopedic knowledge of cycling and biomechanics is matched only by his commitment to customer service. He worked closely with me before the sale to custom fit a bike to my measurements. Tellingly, he worked with me after the sale as well to make fine adjustments to bring out greater performance from my rides. I've gained 4mph over last season and have gained immeasurably in my enjoyment. The professionalism and class extend from Husam to every employee at ATA cycle. You have many choices for a bike shop around Boston, but if you want to grow as a cyclist, you have only one choice. Pros: The most knowledgeable and dedicated staff. Only the best products in each price range. more

Best service and expertise available 5/19/2008

I recently purchased a road bike from ATA Cycle and the experience was outstanding. Compared to other bike stores I had gone to, ATA Cycle was the most professional in every respect. Even though my budget was not the greatest, I was treated with great care and attention. The best part, though, wass that my bike was custom made for me, which gave me flexibility in choosing components. I got a great deal for what I payed. If you want a truly excellent experience purchasing a new road bike or mountain bike, and want the most professional and knowledgeable service around, you have no other choice but ATA cycle. Pros: professional and very helplful staff more

Best & Most Honest Bike Shop I've ever known 5/18/2008

I never saw this place until I joined the tri club headquartered here, despite the fact that they had come highly recommended. From the moment I walked in, I was very impressed. I was greeted with a genuine smile and offer of help. People and bikes, in and out, in a continuous stream, yet the display area is gorgeous, and everyone is treated wonderfully. They obviously take pride in the store. Plus I love the screens to watch whatever race they have on. \r \r Although my bike had been ""fitted"" when I purchased it elsewhere, I had some issues that the other store couldn't seem to help me fix. ATA owner, Husam, checked out my ride himself. He patiently explained why it was not a great fit. He didn't try to sell me anything, but took the time to educate me about proper fitting. When I explained that I was not in the market for a new bike as this one was only 7 months old, he suggested modifications to improve my comfort. The changes were made in less than 24 hours. Much better.\r \r The fit system is AMAZING. All computerized and videoed. Laser sighting and body sensors. How else could we have figured out that I was wasting power by rotating my right leg out?!\r \r As my 40th b-day approached, and I was deciding to try the Iron distance, I made the decision to spoil my self with a new AND REAL time trial bike. Just chatting with the staff, I mentioned I was saving up for a new bike. They were so supportive and encouraged me to come in for the fitting so I could get started. Being on the short and squat side for size, it turned out I had few frame options.\r \r Long story short- I LOVE MY NEW QUINTANA ROO CALIENTE! I truly believe that Husam will not sell a TT bike that doesn't fit the rider. He makes the comfort adjustments to the geometry as needed- 1 at a time. No guess work as to which of the 3 changes was the key fix or worsening of the problem (other shops).\r \r I have found a local bike shop ""home"" and completely and without reservation recommend ATA. Pros: great riding right out the door Cons: MORE TRI GEAR!!!! ;-) more

Best Bike Shop 5/7/2008

\r ATA Cycle far and away exceeds all other bike shops in the area for equipment, custom-bike building and fitting, repair, knowledge and customer service. I have purchased 4 bikes from ATA, and most recently purchased a high-end Time Trial bike that required precision fitting. Hussan Sashin and his staff made me feel like I was their only customer from start to finish. When it came time for a custom fitting, Hussam used the his amazing in-house technology to fit me perfectly. Plus, he explained the fit in understandable terms and even with experienced cyclists, this makes a world of difference. I highly recommend ATA Cycle in Concord and Cambridge. Michael F. Pros: Top shelf equipment, great bike builing and repair staff, customer service more

Bicycle Heaven in Concord and Cambridge 4/22/2008

I just got back from my first outdoor ride this spring on the best, most enjoyable bike I've ever owned. It is light, fast, and extraordinarily comfortable - just a pleasure to ride. Husam and the folks at ATA sized and built if for me last year and it just gets better with age. I should say that that fitting process was a wonder to behold. Husam is thoroughly knowledgeable and he just craves new and better ways to make the fitting process just right. If you want to see new technology applied to bike fitting, ATA is the place to go. After the fitting, my bike was beautifully built in a couple of days and, other than a quick tuneup over the winter, it has never offered my anything but smooth performance. \r \r I should also add that the environment at ATA is not at all ordinary. It's like being a member of a club. Hange out, check the latest bike stuff, or just stand around and chat. I've never been made to feel anything but welcome and to me that is a big part of riding. \r \r This is a wonderful shop with great people and a terrific product. What more might you ask? Pros: Wonderful bike, nice people, terrific service more

From good to great (Part 1) 4/10/2008

In October 2007, I stumbled across ATA purely by accident. I was heading to Vermont for the weekend and knew I needed to buy some additional winter biking gear. I had found ATA online the night before and realized the store was right off route 2 in Concord, MA. Not bad I thought, in and out of the store in no time and back on the road. Little did I know...\r \r It was early Saturday when I pulled in front of the red-bricked bike shop. Inside it was clean, light, and upscale. I knew right away the products they carried were some of the best. I thought to myself, how did I miss hearing about this place? When someone asked me if I needed help, it turned out it was the owner, Husam. We talked about cold weather gear for some time but never pointing me to the top-of-the-line jackets, only what was practical. I found this service very unusual, particularly from an owner, but it made me feel more comfortable and I started asking him more questions. Later he asked what kind of bike I had and I proudly pointed to the same model on his shop floor. ""A Colnago,"" I said. I had been riding a Colnago all season and absolutely loved it. I had purchased the bike as a two-year old floor model at a well-known Boston shop and later had been ?fitted? at another well-known specialty fit shop in northern New England. I had put a lot of miles on it, riding it in the hills of southern Vermont and had nothing but pure enjoyment. Well, according to Husam, the bike, though beautiful, was the wrong bike for me: ?What do you mean,? I asked, ?How could you know? You haven?t even seen it.? He said, ?I can tell by your height, build, and frame size you mentioned, that the other shop, in order to fit you, changed the stem and handlebars and removed the fork to add another inch to try to stretch you out. That?s like changing the suspension on a Ferrari ? it?s c-r-a-z-y,? he said with his great Turkish accent. (continued)\r \r more

When You're Ready for the Bicycle You So Richly Deserve.... 4/5/2008

Whenever I tell my brother about some extraordinarily exquisite experience, he's fond of saying ""It's not more than you need. It's just more than what you're used to.""\r \r ATA Cycles is more than what I'm used to when it comes to high end bicycle service. Husam is more than what I'm used to when it comes to cycling knowledge and his team is just more than what I'm used to when it comes to after the sale attention. \r \r So four years ago I decided to get serious about cycling. Centuries, epic rides, my Colnago and I did it right....right up to the time my aluminum frame failed. Time for new bike - I wanted something that will be kind to my 50 year old bones over a hundred miles, low maintenance and high quality. I sacrifice a lot for family, firm, community and country. I wanted something I deserved.\r \r \r Heard about Husam from my cycling mentors here in Chicago and reluctantly came to Concord to see what all the fuss was about. In the parlance of instant messaging - OMG! Lot's to look at but, as a Type B customer (Type A says I want this kind of frame, this grupo, that handlebar, these wheels, etc. Type B says ""Here's how I ride. Build me a bike.), I just wanted a killer bike for me without paying for form over substance. \r \r After a lot of research and two trips to Concord, I was convinced this was the way to go. Veni, Vidi, Visa and I'm writing this after hammering 50 miles this morning along the lakefront and Northwest Indiana - second ride of the season. and . Between the components and, most importantly, the computerized, custom fitting at ATA, I must confess that I rode like it was the middle of the season. \r \r ATA Cycle is exactly what I needed and probably more than what you're used to. Before you invest in a high end bike, treat your self right and visit Husam. You'll smile. Pros: Husam's abilitiy to listen and deliver. The computerized fitting. Cons: You will probably want to buy more bikes than you planned to. more

Best of the Best....... 4/4/2008

Living in Boston but having grown up in Carlisle and now working in Concord, I cannot tell you how excited I was to hear that ATA was opening up a shop in Concord. Considering how successful the Cambridge store has been and knowing how long Concord (and surrounding areas for that matter) has lacked a true and dedicated bike shop, the fit couldn?t be more perfect. I first heard about Husam and ATA through a friend that I grew up with and who actually went on to pursue a professional road, mountain and cyclocross cycling career. ATA's underlying ethos seems predicated upon combining the professionalism of a high-end bike outfit with the feel and warmth of a local shop. This in turn instills tremendous loyalty. I personally have purchased everything from a tricycle to high-end road and mountain bikes and exclusively use them for all component, fitting and wrenching needs. There is no better...I highly, highly recommend ATA no matter your cycling skill, knowledge or experience. Pros: Unmatched quality, wide variety, quick and efficient service Cons: Too much eye candy..... more

Dream bikes and the best of personal attention 4/4/2008

I am an avid cyclist and triathlete, who recently traveled from Atlanta to have a fitting with Owner Hussam at the Concord ATA shop. I had previously been experiencing back and knee pain due to a prior poor bike fit. Ample time was taken to do a thorough fitting, which measured both my power and comfort based on a series of initial body measurements. After my fit, I was taken through the store and built a bike based on my personal anatomical geometry. I received my bike in just 4 days (they worked over New Years Day building the bike) and the staff walked me through its final assembly over the phone. ATA even sold my old bike, putting the sale towards my new purchase. \r \r The ATA staff is genuinely helpful and passionate about cycling. No pressure, and a desire to help each rider find their perfectly matched bike is what really separates this shop. Additionally, ATA is great place to drool over high performance bicycles and/or just to talk bikes on a Saturday with the friendly staff. Using the most unique/highest performance frames (Fondreist, Aegis, LaPierre, Trek, Kuota, to name a few) and components, ATA treats each bike like a piece of art carefully selecting the best components for each budget. I couldn't be more pleased with my Fondriest, as I have seen vast improvement in my performance and overall comfort.\r \r If you love cycling you will love this place. Pros: service, unique product, great atmosphere more

Bring ATA Cycles to Chicago so we can have the best Bicycle Shop too... 4/2/2008

How good is ATA Cycles? As my screen name implies, I am from Chicago. We have several good local bike shops in Chi-town however; I had the pleasure of talking with the owner of ATA Cycles in the spring of 2006 when I was searching for a particular Italian frame which they had in stock. The owner, Husam, was very helpful, extremely knowledgeable, personable and passionate about the sport of cycling. I quickly came to the conclusion that what sets ATA apart from most other shops is their desire to put you on the best bike possible according to your riding style, needs and budget. You never feel as if you are being sold something to meet a sales quota. They work with you and for you. \r \r I shared my experience with several of my buddies and they all had the same comments. Recently several of us decided to take a trip to ATA, or as we call it ?Bicycle Mecca?, where we were treated like lifelong friends. The staff at both shops actually knew us by name and the bikes we purchased even though we had never seen each other in person. Husam took the time to fit us properly (note: the fit system that they use is state of the art and was worth the trip) and he answered each and every question. As a result, two of my buddies walked away with new top end bicycles that were perfectly configured and sized for their needs. I walked away with not one but two of my dream frames and the knowledge that my power output will be much better when I set them up because of the time I spent being fitted by a professional whose goal is complete customer satisfaction. We will be back? and we will bring more converts to ATA?s Bicycle Mecca.\r Pros: Best fitting system, customer service and knowledge Cons: Too far from Chicago to visit often... more

Best Bike Shop! 3/18/2008

Ingenious bike fit system optimizes performance and solves any issue that riders may encounter.\r The staff here will not only make you faster, they will make you more comfortable as well!\r Very professional and expert staff. They know their product and will help you every step of the way. \r I highly recommend their services.\r Pros: Bike Fit, expert selection, excellent service more

Best Bike Shop in the East 10/27/2007

It might be the best shop anywhere, but I haven't been to everywhere bike shop in the world, so I can't be sure. \r \r ATA Cycle in Concord is clearly the best shop I have ever been to. I have purchased two bikes there in two years, and both were incredible. It's a bit of a leap of faith to have them fit you, then work with them to select a bike based upon what you tell them, but they have not been wrong with me, nor anyone else I know who's purchased a bike there. They will let you test ride the bike once they've set it up after fitting you, but every and all corrections we made after the puchases were completely minor. Their bikes are the best.\r \r They don't carry major name brands. Don't go there if you have a big brand name in mind because of heavy marketing. What they do carry are bikes that really work, and really work for you, and they stand solidly behind everything they sell. Their knowledge and expertise are clearly at work in their selection of bikes. They might be slightly more expensive than large, high volume stores, but they carry better stuff, and I don't mind paying for knowledge, experience, and top quality service. I have been to many other shops, and I know a lot about bikes, but these guys know more. They are the best, and the best deal around if you really know and understand value. Pros: Great selection of bikes, extremely knowledgeable staff, beautiful store Cons: Small shop - I wish they were bigger! more

Great Service! 10/25/2007

ATA cycles provides a great selection of products and amazing customer service. As a pro triathlete I need to have my bike finely tuned and they keep my bike running smoothly. I recommend working with Husam to get your perfect fit so that you can feel more comfortable on your bike. A great shop with great people. more

ATA Cycles, Concord, MA 10/18/2007

How many pro bike shops would you be willing to drive 350 miles round trip in one day?\r \r ATA Cycles (ATA) is the best pro bike shop I have done business with in the past 20 years. Husam Sahin, owner of ATA, is an accomplished cyclist, who only cares about one thing...accomplishing whatever goals and objectives his clients set out for him. \r \r Husam constantly searches out for the cutting edge in technology, understands the importance of due diligence, and always seeks to bring the best the cycling industry has to offer his clients...this is truy invaluable given that the average cyclist does not have the time to fly to Europe looking for the cutting edge in technology.\r \r When you call ATA, you are greeted by Husam, Kate, Robin and John...the staff is friendly and very helpful. Husam works tirelessly from the early morning hours to satisfy his clients...he opened the doors for me before hours since I drove 175 miles from Connecticut.\r \r I will be a loyal client for many years to come.\r \r Thanks.\r \r GB\r \r \r more

At last, a REAL bike shop 8/14/2007

Quite simply one of the best bike shops that I have visited - period. They went to great lengths with me to custom fit my new road bike perfectly for me. There's no such thing as an ""off the shelf"" bike here. Even though I bought a Giant TCR, they stripped it down to the frame and re-built it as a bespoke custom tailored bike - all at no extra charge (indeed they rivalled the best online prices). \r \r I cannot recommend them strongly enough. Pros: Great service, no high pressure sales Cons: You'll want to outspend your budget more

Absolute best bet for cyclists in Boston and suburbs 7/16/2007

Highest recommendation. Owner Husam Sahin is a dedicated professional who takes a personal interest in his customers' cycling needs. I recently upgraded from a good road bike to a great one. Husam guided me through the selection process and emphasized that how much I spent was my call--he'd match me with the best possible bike for the price. He has a high-tech computer-and-video-assisted sizing system that results in a made-to-order (or better) fit. I ended up with a great road bike that is so much more comfortable to ride than my old one that riding it is almost like a different sport. I'm sure the other serious bike shops in the Boston area are good, but I'm also certain that none is better than ATA Cycles. If you want to be taken seriously and treated professionally whether you're an elite cyclist or simply an enthusiastic rider, go to ATA Cycles. more
