I had Applewood install a new ceiling fan for me during this past week, June 1. I had orginally called Applewood because I received a coupon in the mail saying $79 for a ceiling fan installation. Unfortunately, the coupon did not apply. I was shocked when I was quoted over $800 to install the fan. I not only needed more electrical work and a box installed but a complete redo of the stucture to hold it. I went ahead with the installation only because the installer was not pushy and was extremely personable and professional. He took his time and explained everything he was doing and then he was done, he cleaned up the entire area. I would ask for him again. Tom Maloney actually made the sting of the cost less painful. I also signed up for the membership because I trusted his judgement. more

We were impressed by the professionalism of the technicians on every occasion they came to our home for service. Most important, the diagnostics were accurate and the servicing solved our problem, We signed up for their membership which gives us one free call a year and actually saved money since the visits were effective. They were never rushed and took time to explain the situation accurately and in layman's terms.They have always been very polite. We highly recommend Applewood! more

I use them for both home and business. It is nice to knpw the price ahead of time. They charge by the job no the hour. They give free estimates. I just had my ac at home checked for $84 and they found nothing wrong! more

We've always had very good service from Applewood. We've used them for our electrical and HVAC needs, and have always been satisfied with the job done. To those who complain about Applewood's pricing, it's a simple case of you get what you pay for - use a low-bid contractor who will do a crummy job, or Applewood who will do a great job and guarantee the work without any issues. more

The electrictian Applewood sent was on time and extremely knowledgable about our older home.His inspection was though and at the end gave us several differant options for repairing what was wrong. All of this was given to us in writing so if we can't have all the work done at one time we have arecord of what was done and what needs to be done. Five Stars Plus more

Applewood Plumbing was on Dave Logan's site as a recommended vendor. I had them do maintenance on my air conditioner. I was very impressed that the technician wore booties while in my house. He was thorough, explained some things I should consider addressing without being pushy. I was very impressed. more

I've had Applewood tend to my furnace two times now: once for an annual check-up, and once for a small repair. Both repairmen were extremely friendly yet professional. The first one even installed my carbon-monoxide detector on the main floor (for free). The second repairman did a great job answering my questions and showing me the broken ignitor in ""layman's terms."" The whole company has great customer service. more

We called Applewood for an estimate to provide outside electrical work for pond and landscape lighting. An electrician was sent to our house the same afternoon (within 2 hours). The electrician was very knowledgeable and professional, and although our landscaping provided a challenge (multi-tiered with large trees surrounding the area), we were given several options that would work. This was the first of three estimates that we received (so I can't speak to how reasonably priced they were), but compared to other services we've requested over the years, this company was very prompt, attentive and professional. more

As a Club member, Applewood contacts you to schedule free routine inspections. My A/C was recently inspected and needed no fixes - which I expected since it was installed last year by Applewood. I also had an electrical inspection which I appreciated since I have an older house. The tech listed a few items that could be updated but, after questioning, agreed that none were life-threatening. These items were really ""if I want to"" items and nothing that needed attention now. Good to know. The free inspections offset the price of the Club membership and are worthwhile. more

Joined to Gold Member club and had my electric, plumming, heating and air condition inspected with repairs done at club price rates. Everyone who entered my home was extremely professional and I encourage everyone to do business with them because the job gets done right the first time. We had banging pipes and a small amount of leakage from our water pressure regulator. Our friends recommended Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric. Our technician Greg C. showed up on time. He handled himself professionally and did the repair in a timely manner. We are very happy with the results, we no longer have a plumbing problem. I would recommend Applewood to my friends and family. The cost was not cheap but neither was the repair. I don't think one should skimp on plumbing repair when poor service could be a disaster. more

I assume most people commenting on Applewood did not do due diligence and shop around for plumbers, this is not about the quality of work, I am sure they do fine work and have good customer service, this is about their exorbitant pricing and unscrupulous business practices. Most of the plumbers I contacted want to charge a service call fee and get into your front door to give you a written quote. The plumbers assume once you have committed to a fee and they are at your home a consumer will probably hire them, who seriously wants to spend days and hours getting quotes and paying numerous service call fees? I can understand a plumber not wanting to give a phone quote on a large complicated job however I just wanted my old kitchen faucet removed and replaced with a new one. Against my better judgment I had Applewood plumbing come to my house because they wave the service call fee. The technician came into my home, the first thing he tried to do was to up sell me on a 1 year service / maintenance contract which presumably gives you discounts, this was a $198.00 cost he was throwing at me before I got the kitchen faucet quote. Without looking under my sink, he briefly looked at my new faucet wrapped in the box and told me it would cost $435.00 to replace the faucet, then he said it would only cost $398.00 if I signed up for the ""service contract""...really!? And why couldn't I get this exorbitant price over the phone? Probably because they would never have made it through my front door! The last time I had a kitchen faucet replaced I paid $155.00...the technician should have put a gun in my face because I felt I was being robbed and taken advantage of! I asked him to leave my home, I was in total shock and disbelieve at the unscrupulous audacity of this company. I had wasted a day changing schedules to meet this plumber, I was not very happy, after he left I called a few more plumber who actually gave me a quote over the phone! I contacted Umbrella Plumbing and to my amazement the owner called me back within 10 minutes, he gave me a quote of $150.00 over the phone, the owner Marcus showed up at my house after a few hours and kindly replaced my faucet. Marcus was professional, very kind, VERY honest...I can easily say this was the best experience I have had with a plumber or any service person ever! I highly recommend Umbrella Plumbing, I personally will never use any other plumbing service...and I would recommend staying far away from Applewood Plumbing, they are rip-off artists and the most expensive plumbers I have ever dealt with! Conversely Umbrella Plumbing was the most reasonably and competitively price plumbing company I have ever dealt with, thank you Marcus! I guess if you want to pay 2-3 times the amount for a simple plumbing job use Applewood, if you want to get the same quality service and save lots of money, use someone else! more

I received excellent service from Applewood Plumbing and will be calling them again when needed. The service man arrived a little over one hour after I called and was very courteous and professional. He took care of the problem completely and told me how to prevent it from happening again. We had water in our basement bathroom coming in from the window well. After correcting the problem, he removed all the water from the window well and then laid absorbent pads on the tile floor to soak up all the water. I very much appreciated this and was very pleased with all the service received. My first experience from Applewood was a very good one and I would recommend them. I also appreciated the email prior to his arrival with his picture, the shoe covers he wore and the follow up phone call from Applewood. more

Applewood Plumbing and heating provided excellent service! I received a courtesy call from the office about an hour before the service person arrived to let me know. He was courteous, wore shoe covers, and very knowledgeable about the AC system. Plus, the fee was great - I responded to a special offer (mailed to my area) giving me a big discount on service when I called. The service was completed within the time frame they had suggested and done well. I then received a follow up call after the service person left asking if I was happy with the work. Applewood Plumbing Heating Cooling and Electric are the greatest. Everytime I have had a problem with any of these areas, the well trained employees come running to help solve a problem. They are polite and efficient. I highly recommend this company to anyone who wants postive results quickly. more
