Best

I've taken my animals to this clinic for 15 years. They're extremely compassionate, offer to "go that extra mile" if needed, skilled, and very affordable!

Worst

Great Clinic and Caring Staff 5/9/2013

I have read some of the negative reveiws of Airway Animal Clinic and was compelled to write my own review. I have been taking my pets to Airway for the past 6 years or so. I also board my animals there when I am out of town (I have a dog and two cats). I have nothing bad to say about them. I have always been treated kindly by all the staff, and the vets are caring, compassionate, and good at their jobs. Several years ago when one of my beloved cats was extremely sick and needed to be euthanized quickly, I called the clininc and they told me to come down, let me come in the back door so I wouldnt have to face the other customers so upset, and led me straight to a room. Afterwards, the vet let me pay without going to the front of the office. She took my debit card and the staff processed my card, and again, I was able to leave through the back door so I wouldn't have to face the people in the waiting room. I was also given the option of taking my cat home (which I did), and they didn't p more

Worst veterinarians in Dayton metro, guaranteed! 3/8/2013

The staff is extremely rude, the veterinarians barely take the time to listen to you or understand what is wrong with your pet, the clinic itself is stocked with outdated equipment, the billing staff lie about the cost of services... I could go on and on about what is wrong with this business. They mishandled a diagnosis for my wife's cat leading to a follow up for which I was over billed, and their service in dealing with my dog's death was extremely unprofessional. I'll never patronize this business again under any circumstances. more

Trashy, rude, and overwhelmed 11/19/2012

I walked in with a dog with an injured ear. I had called to let them know I was coming and that it was actively bleeding. The very CRASS and RUDE receptionists barely looked at me or the dog while checking us in, then told us we were SIXTH in line to be seen. I then asked why an injury didn't take priority over vaccinations??? So they understand how to triage? If you go into the er with your ear gashed open and bleeding I bet they see you before the guy with the upper respiratory infection. Right?? So she pursed her lips and got all snotty and someone finally came over and removes the padding from my dog's ear to actually LOOK at it before shrugging it off as whatever. She had blood all over her hand. Only the. Did she tell the receptionist to room us next. Seemingly, they were all PO'ed that I messed up their order or whatever so they all were unpleasant to me for the rest of the visit. They shot me dirty looks and just looked, in general, like huge b*tches. They were running around l more

One Great Experience 3/20/2011

After months of contemplating a neighbor told me that Airway Animal Clinic was the way to go due to the positive experiences she had there. My 1 year old Shih Tzu was due for a neutering and I had researched the clinic and read some of the negative responses and was very skeptical about having him done here. I am so glad that this is where I decided to take my boy. Dr. Jen was excellent in consultation and informed me of some baby teeth he had that needed removed to make way for his adult teeth and the AMAZING thing was the low cost of this procedure to be conducted, absolutely blew me away, unbelievable. She had a real concern for my dog as did the other staff. They kept me updated on his neutering procedure while I was away at a nearby retail mall due to the time of the procedure and Dr. McMullen who actually did the neuter procedure did a great job. The wait was not as long as I had anticipated from reviews and the facility although small is not the "dump" I had read about. Than more

Great phone customer service!! 1/28/2011

I have never been wowed so much by customer service just over the phone. I haven't visited the actual clinic yet, but the woman I talked to on the phone took the time to really listen to my question even though I hadn't brought my dog to their clinic before, asked follow up questions to make sure she understood correctly, and told me that what my dog was experiencing was totally normal and that I didn't need to bring her in. I will definitely be bringing my dog to this clinic when it is time for her checkups. more

POOR SERVICE! 12/24/2010

I have been to airway many times today was the final straw for me.\r My husband took my puppies in for an exam i had a litter of 6 puppies. The vet told him the puppies had murmurs , type 1 and 2 , took one puppy back for a second exam was told her murmur was a 2. Well i was frantic ,and crying while trying to drive home , the vet i seen was rude , did not explain and i thought she was uneducated regarding puppies! Never the less, I immediatley contacted the new owners of the puppies already placed. They rushed their puppies to their vets and NO MURMURS! NOT ONE WAS HEARD !!!!!!!!!!!!\r Puppies left their clinics with a clean bill of health, i have had these vet tell me on numerous occasions that my puppies had murmurs and no other vet has even confirmed this claim.\r I find this clinic dirty, out dated and their miss diagnosis leads me cause for serious concern i will be taking my animals to a new clinic from this point on. Also they vaccinated my litter did not penetrate the skin of t more

i have been going to airway for many years. they were always very good with all my pets and are always there when i need them!! very compassionate, and awesome with my pets! they have never overcharged me for anything! when my beloved pet had to be put down after 14 years they were very undestanding and sympathetic! i would never take my pets to any other vet. my pets are my kids and i fully trust my kids to them!. thank you airway for being there for me. more

THANK YOU FOR CARING 9/14/2010

What a great animal clinic. The doctors are skilled, caring, and competent. I pass this facility daily on my way to the base. They consistently have a full parking lot which is a testimony to the excellent service provided, According to my memory, the clinic was awarded the Peoples Choice Award by the Dayton Daily News. I love them. Though the facility is not beautiful from the outside, the people are beautiful from the inside. Thank you for being there! more

Like McMullen -- trust him for surgeries. 8/26/2010

Dr. McMullen is the best vet at this clinic. I took my puppy in when it was time for her to get spayed and I was upset knowing someone else did the surgery. I'm glad I was because the vet who did, did not do a good job. She got an infection she was in alot of pain and was givien NO pain meds until I brought her in and Dr. McMullen gave me two pills one for pain other for infection. I will not name the Vet who did this but I can assure you that vet will never touch my dog again. My dog is now 15 months old and still sore in the incision site. My poor doggie :'( more

Worth the Wait 7/14/2010

I took my cat there for the first time today...yeah, there was a 2-hour wait (the place was exceptionally busy). It was worth the wait. I am a first time pet companion and was a little uneasy about going to the vet; the cat was not comfortable and I am unequipped to help. The staff eazed my discomfort; they were friendly, caring, and genuinely concerned. There was a wait to see the vet but it was well-worth the wait. I will return...if needed more

Fabulous Vets 1/12/2010

My husband family has taken animals for 3 generations. We can afford to other vets but choose not to. I rescue animals for two local shelters and have taken dogs to Airway when I could not reach a Vet at the shelters. They except walk in appt so the office is always crowded, there is always lots of animals, and it is always crazy. If you are concerned about looks then this is not the vet for you. However ever since the orginal Dr Pompleye I probably miss spelled his name and his son along with every other Vet I have never left mad at them. I have lost dogs of my own at this vet but it has never been due to Vet issue. My family has it's own 20 year history with these vets. They truly love animals and it is not about the money some of the local animal hospitals are not qualified as these vets. more

Airway Animal Clinic is Outstanding 9/25/2009

We took our dogs to the Airway Animal Clinic for 10 years until we moved to Florida. I would give them an AAAAA+, they are caring and affordable, they saved our dog Barney and Dr. McMullen even came in on a Sunday when our dog was very sick. Some of the negative comments here amaze me because I never had a problem and the staff is great. Sometimes there is a wait because they are a very popular animal hospital. It is best to have an appointment or you will wait awhile. At age 14 we had to put Barney to sleep, it was tough but Dr. Maxis was great and helped us through it. They are a pet owners best friend. more

MISREPRESENTATION ON THE INTERNET 6/24/2009

Re: Luna the cat, my condolences regarding the loss of your cat. However, I, Dr MAXIS, would like to clarify the miscommunication in your review. I examined your cat PRIOR to the surgery.. The risks and benefits of anesthesia was addessed. Any discussion pertaining to AUTOPSY OR EQUIPMENT WAS not made by me . I do not want any false statements attributed to me or my assistant. If you would like to contact me at the clinic, I am more than willing to examine the record and elucidate with whom you had this discussion. Again, my condolences but we had no communication outside of the presurgery exam. Sincerely, Dr C. Maxis more

BEWARE! Our Cat Died In Their Care! 6/14/2009

Our beloved 9 month old Luna died while having a routine procedure and we are left wondering what really happened. They offered a myriad of explanations as to the possible causes, but we still don't have a definitive cause of death. Dr. Maxis, the attending Veterinarian, told me that the only way I would ever truly know what happened would be if I sent our deceased pet to Ohio State to have an autopsy. However, she did allude to the possibility that faulty equipment lead to our kitten's untimely death by overdosing her on anesthesia. We feel just awful for taking our cat to this clinic. It is overcrowded and out-dated in appearance and we were naive to think this was a non-issue in our pet's medical care. It is worth paying more elsewhere for more modern care. No amount of money will bring our kitty back! :( more

Airway Animal Clinic is wonderful 6/14/2009

I think the folks here are angels!! they are very busy but the ladies at the front handle things so well. the doctors are so caring. my dogs have such a good experience when they go there. i have an old one so we go pretty often, and the staff always treats him well!! i have seen all the doctors and they are all nice, so i don't know why someone on the list said they don't have an "aw" factor! \r i think if they had more staff to handle the lengthy wait it would make this a 5 star vet hospital! more

RUDE & RUSHED 4/28/2009

Airway is very over crowded and mismanaged. The receptionist told me I had to call ahead for scripts and when I did they still made me wait an hour to fill them. The staff is always rude. They made me redo my dogs shots because they lost his records but then found them AFTER I paid for it all over again. more

not too bad 7/21/2008

I had my Great Pyr there for chronic diarrhea. Long story short, they treated him with antibiotics... the problem never went away, I took him to a different vet, they fixed the problem and he is now as healthy as can be.\r \r But I do like Airway.... reasonable prices, you don't need an appointment, and my favorite: the vets there are open-minded. They actually listen to you. My boy is raw fed... and most vets would lecture you... but not Airway. Never once did they try to push Iams or Hills or whatever else death in a bag brand vets push on you. That means a lot to me. \r \r I also like how they have multiple vets for faster service. more

It's a hellhole 6/22/2008

I had an appt at 8 am...apparently, so did 18 other people.\r The desk was harried and unorganized, the place is filthy, and the garbage and cigarette butts outside are just plain nasty.\r My little rescue dog was spayed, and the 95 lb test fishing line that the used to stitch her up pierced her shaved tummy so often that welts developed. The desk worker went back to get her after the spay, and apologized for it taking so long, as the dog had crapped herself when coming out of anathesia....which she had reportedly done 3 hours prior.\r I'm supposed to go back and get these stitches out, but I think I will beg my regular vet (I went to Airway due to the low spay cost) to remove them just so I don't have to go back there.\r Sure, they might be caring, but basic updates mean a lot, too. Can't somebody do something about puppies and hoardes of screaming children eating the crapload of cigarette butts and fast food wrappers outside? The building is scary moldy. To call it outdated is being kin more
