Worst Customer Service 1/23/2011

Don't waste your time with Payless. I was out of hot water for 6 days. It was one excuse after another waiting on a part. Josh likes to play games. Very, very poor customer service. I learned they could have picked up the part at Lowe's, but refused to do so and wanted the part shipped from the manufacturer. I finally called another plumber to finish the job and learned Payless did more damage to my unit on their first visit. Payless will never be welcome back to my home. Don't waste your time. more

Clean Job & Great Prices 1/21/2011

This was the Best Plumber Experience I ever Had. The people in the Office were polite the guy showed up on time. He was clean in uniform and Very Professional. he even had the water heater on his truck and ready to get to work right away. We had 3 other plumbing Companies out and the Smell good Plumber bid was $2907. The Price was very reasonable for Everything he did, 50 gallon & putting on new straps and a pan under heater and some other copper line to the outside. The total was $1424 and the job looks Great. I would recommend these guys to my friends or anyone else for that matter. more

Wow, Fast service In and Out, very nice work! 10/19/2010

Easy to Deal with great guys. I had their guy out for a new tankless water heater they were about $700-800 Cheaper than another Company. The other guys were like a joke compared to Payless. the guy from payless told me he specialized in water heaters and noritz's #1 Installer and from the look of the job I can see why. True professional My wife is very happy. more

Cant say Enough,Larry was Great 10/1/2010

I own a large home in Beverly hills and my water heater was leaking it was a big one 75 gallon i think. but I had one other guy come look at it. This other plumber was crazy he wanted to charge me $6950 to change over to tankless. Larry Came in figured out our hot water needs there is only 3 people in our house he recommended a Noritz 841 Condensing unit for about $3800 he Guaranteed I would be happy and he was absolutely correct. The old water heater was in our Garage and it looks much better with the new tankless he put on side wall and we were able to take out old stand and put our refrigerator in the corner of the garage and gave us a ton more room which I really like. the job is very professional looking and larry was a super nice guys and I would gladly refer you. more

PAY MORE WATER HEATERS 8/28/2010

DO NOT BUY FROM OR USE PAYLESS WATER HEATERS. Very expensive for one. Don't let there name fool you. There price on a tankless water heater was $500.00 more than there competitors. After them meeting there competitions price they sold me a water regulator that was not needed for a cost of $280.00 to make up the difference from the original quote on the tankless water heater.$130.00 more than the going rate. After speaking with management they agreed to credit me. It's two weeks later with no credit and numerous unreturned phone calls. Also have not sent the So Cal gas rebate form. This company has the worst service I have ever experienced. more

tankless superbowl 2/23/2010

What a great company. On superbowl sunday my wife and i left in the morning when we arrived back home there was water coming out of our garage. We called payless water heaters and spoke to a gentleman by the name of josh he helped us turn off the water heater and said he could get a technician out within the hour. That's when brandon showed up what a great technician we started to explain to my wife and I about a noritz tankless water heater. He told us we could have never ending hot water and no more leak like we had today.I wasent sure at first because I did not know alot about tankless but brandon rest assured me the product is fantastic.Brandon proceed to install the tankless and what a great job he did super clean work and no more big bulky water heater in my way.when brandon finished he gave us all the paperwork and showed us exatly how to work the unit.It was the best decision I have made because the heater works flawless.Thank you payless for taking care of my problem on superbowl your company is GREAT.\r PS they also told my wife and I about the fedral tax credit and the gas company rebate.\r \r Thank You Payless\r Joe \r Pros: great service more

Avoid Payless or you will pay more 11/18/2009

I chose and paid extra for the top-of-the-line heater with the twelve year warranty. The quote said the water heater would be $549 but with installation and all the extra stuff we ""needed,"" our total was $956. If I wanted the the top-of-the-line heater with the twelve year warranty, that was another $100, bringing the total to $1056. The day of the installation after the guy took out my old water heater and installed the new one, I was told that I needed to replace our existing water pressure regulator. I balked at this, especially because of his timing. He waited until after installing the water heater instead of telling me before he began. It seemed to be a ploy to extort more money from me. I tried to avoid paying for this extra. Then he wrote a note on my receipt saying that if I did not replace the regulator the warranty would be void. Under duress, I agreed and paid the total of $1326. Since I am not sure that I needed the water pressure regulator I was forced to buy for an additional $270 on the initial installation date, I do not trust Payless water heaters. I also think they did a little price gouging since it took about 10 minutes of labor to install the regulator, and a friend told me he bought one at the hardware store for $50. Two years later, I noticed there was no hot water. I went into the utility room and smelled gas. I called a plumber, and he came right over. He inspected the heater and determined that the heater could not be repaired and needed to be replaced. He shut off the heater and the gas and water going to it. Because of the previous experience with Payless Water Heaters, I did not want to have them handle the replacement. The plumber took the heater in to exchange it. The staff at the place where he exchanged the unit made a photocopy of my receipt because they thought it was interesting. Bradford White, the manufacturer of the water heater, does not offer a water heater with a 12 year warranty. The heater that had been installed in our home was a water heater that comes with a 6 year warranty. I guess we were lucky it only took two years for the heater to fail, so it was still under warranty. Not really. We got a ""free"" replacement heater from the manufacturer, but we had to pay for professional installation. If you are looking to replace your water heater, I suggest you avoid Payless Water Heaters. Let me be clear about whom I am speaking. The company has contractor number 836216 is owned by Scott Oksas and the salesman who set me up was Bryan Oksas. They are located in Valencia, but they have several addresses set up in the area. Check the contractor number and you will find they are all the same Pros: Not at installing water heaters. Cons: Probably. more

Check prices before hiring them 10/16/2009

This is really a zero star rating.\r \r They came to us via a warranty company. They quoted a price for heater removal and permit that was OVER FIVE times what another local shop charges. We are talking $438 more! Plus another plumber told us we could avoid the removal fee by calling our trash company to remove it for FREE. \r \r The unit and labor being equal. It's so unbelievable that I had to ask for verification twice in case I did not hear correctly.\r \r Then there was a rush telling us we needed to have it installed the next business day. Of course they want to rush us so we don't research the prices. Are these plumbers on commission or what??\r \r Service not so friendly, but who cares about that if they do a good job and have fair prices.\r \r After this experience I had to check local reviews. Guess I am not the only one.\r Pros: nothing outstanding Cons: price 5x that of another local plumber more

GREAT SERVICE 8/26/2009

On 8-20 -09 we came out to our garage and found are waterheater leaking.I then called the number on the waterheater and spoke to payless manger josh he said he could get a technican out within an hour. The technican chris arrived and shut the water off and advised us of our sitiuation.Chris then told my wife and I about a tankless waterheater. The nortiz unit is fantastic and we have plenty of hot water. My wife and I can not thank payless enough for the information and the great service. Pros: On time and well informed more

Rude horrible experience, will rip more $$ from u. STAY AWAY 7/27/2009

It's poor business conduct like Playless Water Heaters and Plumbing that tarnish customer's confidence in hiring quality work at the time of need. Not only the work performed was incorrect, gave us a smaller size tankless water heater that is not sufficient to heat our house, we were charged the larger sized tankless unit. The first guy we sent out was inexperienced, they had to send out another person who claimed was the 'top' plumber. When the 2nd guy came out, wanted more money to undo and correct what the first guy did wrong. we called the owner saying we should not have to pay additional for something else his first inexperienced guy did, owner hung up on us. Then the tankless unit had problems itself, did not pass permit inspection, owner would not own up to their ""licensed"" responsibilty. we had to hire another licensed plumber to redo everything that cost us more than we had to in the first place. worse experience ever, would not wish upon anyone else. learn from this and stay clear. i would give many NEGATIVE stars rating if the rating selection allows it. Pros: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING Cons: POOR INSTALLATION QUALITY, WILL NOT OWN UP TO BAD WORK DONE more

Nice getting screwed...they could have a least bought me lunch!!! 11/10/2008

We shop Sears on a regular basis. In fact most recently we called for a replacement gas water heater and received full-disclosure, including parts, delivery, installation, tax, and removal. We knew exactly how much?albeit it was our misfortune that Sears couldn't provide a replacement model having a vent-air intake system resembling our old Bradford White model. We noticed a sticker on the old heater?""Save Money call Payless Water Heaters 800-833-LESS"" (The Payless Water Heaters & Plumbing, Inc. owned by David Stone). \r \r We called and they certainly had the unit we needed. Including a price that was comparable to Sears?well almost. On the phone ""David"" gave us a price that included ""everything"" including removal roughly similar to Sears at $1250. We called a second time to make certain and again were told the price would include ""everything"". When the installer (gonif) arrived there was the ""everything"" price of $1250 that didn't included additional parts of $150, and $350 more for the labor of those parts. Already $500 more than what was quoted over the phone?AFTER the quote showed a hand written ""Discount <$200>""\r \r Back against the wall with wet laundry everywhere?our hardwood floor saturated with water, I couldn't say ""take a walk"" and he knew it. Payless Water Heaters should change their name to Paymore Water Heaters?PAY MUCH MORE! Stinking shyster GONIFS!! Cons: They ripped us off totally! more

Deceptive name and worst service 10/9/2008

I had a leak which was seeping through my carpet, called Pay less and they sent their field manager to diagnose the problem. First I was advised that the leak stemmed from an old pipe which was corroded and that the seepage of water was probably water that had gone through the wall and into the slab and subsequently through the carpet. First of all their field manager looks like he just graduated from plumbing school, I had to let him use my ladder since he didn't have one. He tried turning the main city water supply off with a pair of pliers, not reassuring to say the least. Next, I was out $168.00 for changing a leaky fitting which was not the problem. As I stepped into my living room the following morning, the water in the carpet was advancing into the hallway. Called them back and they sent the same guy whom they say is their top guy. Finally he told me that the problem was most likely in the the slab and that I would have to call a ""leak specialist ""?????? After having bent over and given them $235.00 total, I still have the same problem and after calling them back and speaking to their manager and advised them that their top guy couldn't diagnose a plumbing problem, he went on to say ""Sir , if you look at our ad, we are a water heating company"". Well I mentioned that their name is Paylesss water heating and P-L-U-M-B-I-N-G"" Well sir they said, unfortunately its something we are not equipped to take care of "" I said this is a plumbing problem and it does say ""plumbing on your ad"". Well, I hope this helps anyone else who may fall prey these con artists. Our economy is bad and $235.00 is food out of my family's mouth's. Cons: Deceptive name and won't stand by and admit they are not plumbers more
