IT IS A PLACE NOT TO GO NOT VERY CLEAN NOT EVEN A SPA SOME SHOP LOTS OF NOISE AND NO BODY WORKING AS A MASSAGE GIRL THERE AND IT IS SO SLOW THE PLACE LOOKS LIKE IT IS GOING TO CLOSE UP I WAITED SO LONG AND THE MASSAGE AND FACIAL WAS JUST BAD!!!!!!!!!!!! more

My husband bought me a gift certificate back in 2001, when this spa was called a "Wellness Center" and I've been loving this place since than. My friends and family never get bored from receiving gift certificates that I purchase for them from Urban Retreat. It is super convenient. I just go to their website, buy it there and print it out. With my economy I have a chance to save some money thanks to their specials that they post on the website. I have recommend this spa to everyone. It is a clean, nice looking, and professional spa. The most important thing is that I feel like home when I'm at Urban Retreat. more

I've been going here a few times a year for a few years now, and have brought many friends. It's clean, it's quiet, it's relaxing--and the people there make you feel wanted and appreciated. I've had facials, swedish massages, hot stone massages--they've all been amazing. They also have amazing prices, especially when they're running a special. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. more

From now on this is my favorite place! My friend gave me a gift certificate to Urban Retreat for a Full Retreat. Oh my! This was the best experience ever!! My massage was wonderful and the massage therapist was very thorough. And after that I had a body treatment with scrub , masque and wrap! Left the place smelling like chocolate!)))) have had massages here regularly for the last year and although the therapists are great, the front desk is run by some family friends or something because the service is sloppy and they booked my husband for a massage and completely forgot to show up or open the spa at the appointed time so, there he was, on his day off, and no one showed; when i called to complain, they acted like it was my fault; my fault lies in trusting them to follow through; if you go, book same day and just go rather than try to make a plan around it Pros: price, quality of massage Cons: unprofessional admin more

Today was the first time I went to try Urban Retreat Day Spa and it was amazing. I read all this reviews and thought that I should give it a try. The facility is clean and the staff is professional. I received the Urban Retreat Package - massage & facial. And it was very soothing and relaxing. Since it was my birthday 2 days ago, they decorated one of the rooms with balloons. I thought the massage was great, nice clean facility, nice people... tea and a cookie at the end! I've had tons of massages, and this is a great place that I will be back to. PROS - nice friendly people, massage therapist was informative, I love NOHO so I'm glad to see a nice clean place where you can get an economical massage CONS - right next to Blockbuster, so when I was in the sauna I could hear the very loud movie playing there, but the actual massage room was very quiet! I just turned 18 and my mom set this party for me and my 7 friends. We all went to this Day Spa. And it was great! All of us got facials, and i never had a facial before, so it was an awesome experience. This blond russian woman used some cool products, they smelled really good and made my skin really shiny. After the facial I went to the sauna, some of my friends were there and we had really good time, Feeling all glamorous. Also I received a massage. The room was clean and cute. The massage was good too. The Day Spa was the coolest place to celebrate my b-day. Pros: I liked everything more

I had been to urban retreats in the past - they were always a great spot for a last minute massage, but I recently went in to find some nice new surprises there. They now have a sauna and a quiet room! And you can use the sauna for a reasonable fee with out having to get another treatment although its included when you do get another treatment. The quiet room is really very charming. I sat there while I waited for my boyfriend who used the sauna...I was even treated to some tea. Very nice. Honestly I got really tired of Thai massages and my economical state does not allow me to visit spas like Burk Williams, so I found this little cozy place. I would like to give a big thank you to Urban Retreat. Me and my husband had nothing to do on our free day, so we decided to try Urban Retreat. We wanted to get a couple massage. I'm so glad we did, because it was an unbelievable experience. When we came, the receptionist greeted us and brought us to the waiting room and then to the changing room. It felt like I entered a new world. It was so peaceful and cozy. After we have changed our clothes we set down in Sauna. I have never used sauna before, but now I will! When time came for a massage I was so excited. The massage therapists opened the room and my chin just dropped. The room was amazing. Rose paddles and candles. Really beautiful! The massage was really great and we had a chance to hold our hands throughout whole hour. And I admit I fall asleep and I never slept like that in ages. I do recommend the spa to other people and will use it definitely again. more

I had pain all over my back this morning, so I decided to go and get a massage. Since I leave in a neighborhood and have received a massage before in Urban Retreat, I went there again. First of all, damn they've got a sauna!!!! Last time I've been there, it was kind of in and out place, but now its a whole new picture!! I didn't wanted to leave! And can you tell me please what is that tea you gave me guys? It tasted so good, im gonna buy it and drink it at home. But the most important thing - massage!!! So weird. My therapist was Carlos. And he was so sketchy. He put the bandana on his head right before the massage and had his big gold chains dangling away during my massage. I'm pretty sure the fake accent wasn't too comforting either. He was like "do the sauna, go in the sauna, go in the sauna." No weird Carlos I don't like the Sauna. Ok, then he lubed me up with waaaaay too much oil. Which made me feel like a winner. Oh yes then asked if i needed work on my "buttocks"...um no Carlos I don't need work on my buttocks but thanks. Then pulled my underwear down way too far and made me feel super weird. and continued to still halfway try to massage my rumpola. Wow. Not to mention the whole leg massage was super brutal and weird. And too close for comfort. What i really loved is when he kept stretching my arms so it was like total nip exposure several times. Great. To catch a predator. After attempting to connect with the therapist in question 2 x's w/ no response I feel compelled to share my experience. I have been to Urban Retreat 7-8 times, each time seeing the same massage therapist, Lynn. The facilities are nice and clean with a nice sauna. Lynn is a good massage therapist & comfortable to be around. I called this past week and booked an appointment. When I got there the manager came out and said "Lynn will not be available to provide you with services anymore". I of course asked what was up and he said he did not know. I asked why Lynn did not just advise me of this herself and he said that she was likely trying to avoid a uncomfortable situation. I was dumbfounded. I told the manager that as I had gone to her so many times I would like to know from Lynn what was going on as it is hard not to think something is really wrong when out of nowhere she not only declines to work on me but chooses to have a 3rd party inform me of this. The manager said he would have her give me a ring. She did not. When I didn't hear back I sent Lynn a note letting her know that I am left uncomfortable to go to anyone else at this point not having a clue what I could've done to cause such an abrupt cessation of services. I received no response. It feels very unprofessional to send a third person to cease further therapy with no explanation, even after follow up attempts are made. Honestly as much as I enjoyed the Urban Retreat's clean facilities and Lynn's massages, I would definitely not do it over again knowing I would be treated like this on the other end. At the very least I am embarrassed that I let someone touch me that would treat me this way and that I was so oblivious to whatever the problem was that I was going all over town encouraging people to book sessions with her. Where do I start? This place rocks! I like to try different spas all the time and this one has left a major impression on me! For starters this spa has a parking lot, NOT valet or meter parking... hip, hip hooray! From the street it doesn't appear fancy but once you enter it is very impressive... from the really nice people who welcome you, to the way it smells and is layed out. Many treatment rooms and an awesome sauna! I had a massage scheduled with Olivia and she is incredible! Olivia was meant to be a massage therapist! She was so good at relaxing me with her technique that I fell into a deep sleep! She is one of the top 3 massage therapists I have ever had. Next I was off to see Elena for my facial and I have never, ever had a better one before! I'm not lying, Elena really made my skin better than it's ever been in ONE session! She also has this really cool machine that gives an instant lift and tone to your face! I've already had some friends comment that I look more youthful! I know that this place does gorgeous mani and pedi's too because I saw a woman leave with the most realistic french manicure I have ever seen. My spa hopping days are over for now, because this place is too good not to come back to, and oh did I mention that it was a better value than most of the other spas I've gone to? Go see Massage Therapist Lynn! She is so intuitive to what muscles need working on and how to get out all those nasty knots! I loved the relaxing music she was playing too! When I walked into this beautiful, peaceful spa I was a physical wreck and by the time I left , I felt like a new person! Lynn and all the other staff members were extremely customer service oriented and really super sweet! I loved the fact that this spa is so clean and decorated beautifully too! It has a zen energy about it and I think it's because the staff try so hard to make it the best and most relaxing experience they possibly can. I went to this spa primarily because of the positive reviews written about it and also because I was craving a new spa experience that was REASONABLY priced. I am not dissapointed.... these reviews are accurate. I'm so glad citysearch provides this service or I might not have found this little gem of a spa.
