I love it but a little pricey 10/11/2008

My family and I went there for my 23rd birthday. They accommodated our party of twelve just fine. The food and service we superb. I had no complaints. All though I didn't pay the bill I know that the main courses, the wine, the side dishes (no dessert because that was waiting at home, the cake) all added up really fast. The food is excellent and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Great for a getaway if you're tired of bland food and great to take friends and family. more

A night to remember ... 10/7/2008

I flew to Utah a few weeks ago for the weekend and was looking for a nice place to enjoy the evening. I always look for something unique to the area and Tuscany seemed perfect, however didn't know what a great experience I was in for. I pulled up to find a beautiful building, both inside and out. I was immediately greeted by a friendly manager and hostess who directed my friend and myself to our seats and handed us a menu and a wine list which extensiveness surprised us. We ordered from our waitress and asked if we could take a look around while we waited for our food. We walked around to find each room of the large restaurant beautifully decorated. We saw a wedding taking place outside and realized what beautiful gardens they had, covered in vines and lights. When we returned inside we were served a meal which was both beautiful and delicious. The flavors were just right. We finished our meal with a delicious chocolate cake. I usually don?t take the time to write reviews but I was so impressed with the friendly staff, beautiful setting, and delicious and unique food that I had to say something. Pros: Service, Ambiance, Food more

Exquisitely delicious 10/7/2008

I finally convinced my fiance to take me to Tuscany and he agrees, we waited way too long to visit. The ambiance of the restaurant is like no other in Salt Lake. I finally found my intimate, romantic restaurant in Utah! I thought it did not exist! Once we were seated in the room with the beautiful stained glass windows, we were pleasantly surprised by the price. We expected twice that much! The staff was very attentive, our food was delicious, the wine list was incredibly extensive, and we left Tuscany very satisfied and impressed. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone! Pros: Ambiance, food, wine, service Cons: Valet - have to park valet and have to pay for it, there is no self parking more

Bad entrees 10/4/2008

We liked the bread, salad and dessert ok but the entrees were horrible. The Risotto was really sweet and just didn't taste right. The lasagna was very greasy. For as much as they charge it was very dissappointing. We would be giving it one star but the staff was very good and the building is beautiful. more

Amazing wedding venue! 9/4/2008

I recently attended a gorgeous outdoor wedding there and was so impressed! We were immediately directed to the ceremony area by a valet service, making it seem like the wedding was the only party in the entire restaurant, and took our seats. The ceremony started late (rumor has it that the bride was not ready yet) but the woman in charge was obviously handling everything very smoothly. We saw her all evening talking with the bride and groom and making sure everything was alright. After the ceremony, we moved five feet over to the reception area where we enjoyed drinks and then sat for a three course meal! The food was incredible and the serving staff was so attentive and friendly. Then, the serving staff passed champagne and cider for all the guests to toast the bride and groom. Definitely the best wedding I have been to all summer, and trust me, I have been to ALOT of weddings this summer! The patio was gorgeous with so many flowers and trees. The entire experience was something I will never forget! Pros: Ambiance of patio and awesome customer service Cons: The bathroom was slightly messy more

Hilariously awful 8/20/2008

The bathrooms in this restaurant are absolutely wonderful.\r \r \r That is good, because shortly after trying food you will be visiting them.\r \r \r \r I am pretty sure the valet stole my sunglasses. Pros: Elegant Restrooms Cons: Everything else more

WORTHLESS 8/12/2008

The only good thing about this place is the valet!!! I went with my family to Tuscany for dinner on a weeknight. After we were seated it took 20 minutes before we even received water.... 20 minutes later we finally got our drink orders in. I ordered the pork chop.... it took an hour to finally get it! Really, the Village Inn on State St. makes a better pork chop (and for a fraction of the cost). The first one was too dry... almost a sandpaper consistency. I sent it back, the server IMMEDIATELY brought out another one (which means some poor sap at another table probably had to wait longer for his mediocre meat). This one was better, but still I've had better dishes served through a window at 3:00 A.M. from my car. My girlfriend ordered the Risotto, which was good but it came 30 minutes after EVERYONE ELSE AT THE TABLE had received and (half) consumed their meals. Pros: Valet Cons: Everything else more

Very Friendly Staff 5/1/2008

Wow, what a gorgeous restaurant with amazing food! You're greeted by the friendliest staff I've ever experienced in a restaurant as soon as you walk in the door. more

Beyond Great Italian 3/11/2008

I came into Tuscany with several buddies after a hard day on the slopes at Snowbird. We had made a reservation earlier in the day and arrived early not realizing the restaurant was such a close distance to Little Cottonwood Canyon. We started with drinks in the bar and were treated like old friends by the bartender. She made it a hard decision to leave and go to our table because she was so friendly, but alas we are all married. The manager took us to our table by a huge rock fireplace and I wondered if we were actually in Florence, Italy or Salt Lake City. We ordered some appetizers and found the carpaccio to be perfectly rare and the fried calamari to be best we've had. It came with fried shrimp and green beans and was topped with a red pepper aioli that gave it a real zip! Our server recommended the Chicken Scallopini and a bunch of us opted for that and the juicy New York steak special. Both dishes satisfied our craving for Italian fare and beat out any steak we've tried coast to coast. The service was very attentive and quick considering the place was packed with hungry skiers and their families. A few of us had room left for dessert and got the fried bananas with homemade banana ice cream and the house specialty banana cream pie. I would recommend this restaurant for both its outstanding service and food that pleases both Italian food lovers and All-American palates. Pros: Close to Skiing more

Most romantic atmosphere 2/28/2008

Great food the salmon was divine. Great atmosphere, quiet and romantic lighting, a little pricey but well worth it. A heart shaped triple chocolate cake with fresh rasberries was best dessert I ever had. Service was very efficient and kind our waitress was very helpful in reccommending the best choices on the menu and did not lead us astray. more

Truly disappointing 2/15/2008

When they only thing you can find to recommend a ""fine dining"" establishment is the appetizer pizza, that's pretty sad. Ok. The setting is beautiful. The service was horrible -- it took 20 minutes every time to get our server's attention. And the main courses were atrocious. Maybe it was our fault for ordering beef and pork instead of pasta. They were just not good. They tasted bad. My husband and I are both very open minded when it comes to food but there was simply nothing to recommend this restaurant. There are enough other fine dining places in SLC that are good to excellent (Tiburon, LaCaille, Snake River, etc). We won't be going back and wasting our money at Tuscany. Pros: Pretty setting Cons: Food, service more

Left unserved and hungry 2/11/2008

I made reservations for February 11th, so that my wife and I wouldn't have to be crammed in with a million other couples on Valentine's Day. We were seated at a small table at the edge of an entryway, and I sat between two rooms. I could hear conversations from both rooms and they drowned out my wife's voice. After waiting for 15 minutes without any service we left. more

Best in Salt Lake City 1/28/2008

This by far the best restaurent i have been for special occasions. i have been to Ruth chris and le caille all of the sucked. If you are looking for perfect dinner with your wife, friend or family this is the place to go. It's little pricy but its worth it as compared to Ruth Chris and La Caille. Sometimes the place may get little noisy but request for a quiter place, they will definetly accomodate your request. Me and wife are regulars here after trying so many places we decided this to be our special dinner spot. Pros: Good ambience, nice food Cons: Sometimes its too loud. more

Thanksgiving was a Disaster! 11/29/2007

We decided to go to Tuscany for Thanksgiving dinner but it was a disaster. The service was fine but the meal was terrible. We got just a couple scraps of Turkey and a slice of ham and the rest was stuffing, mashed potatoes (I think it was potatoes ? they sucked) and squash. The stuffing was horrible. We have always had good food at Tuscany but Thanksgiving was a total disaster for quality of the food. Way overpriced for the quality. Will not do that again. more

I had my Wedding at Tuscany 10/1/2007

We had our wedding at Tuscany on 9/29/07 and it was wonderful. The setting is very romantic and pretty. The service was very good and the wait staff were attentive and friendly. The food was okay. We had a choice of pork, salmon and chicken. The pork was the best by far. The chicken and fish were a little bland. We had a nice salad and nice chocolate cake as well. All in all we liked it. more

Overall bad experience 9/11/2007

One year ago I came here for our dinner for Homecoming for Brighton High School. It was a group of 20 that I was in. We had made reservations and were given a smaller menu beforehand to choose what we wanted to eat and a set price per couple. Pros: Service was ok. Cons: Everything else. more

Cutting Corners on food 8/31/2007

Tuscany appears to be cutting corners as evidenced by the wilted brown salad, dirty glasses and flies. Fine dining and flies do not mix and neither did the flavors of the food. Lunch was costly but for fine food we are willing to pay. Unfortunately, the several billboards around the valley touting Tuscany as an unforgettable experience are true. I will never forget the brown, slimy, wilted salad and the stale brushetta appetizers which tasted day old. Main courses were tastless and the pasta with wine reduction was acidic and biting. The Venetian beef red wine sauce was tart and was not complimented by the Gorganzola Polenta. The most disturbing part of the meal were the several flies which enjoyed our bread and appetizers more than we did. Fine dining is an art and Tuscany is still using crayons. The food was bad, the service was slow and inattentive. The vegetables tasted old including the tomatos which are in season. My house salad was the worst resembling something from a fast food dive. Owner Mark Eaton was a defensive specialist on the court, but his food was offensive and scored no points. His ads are correct unforgettable and very regrettable. Pros: Nice location Cons: bad food more

I have always enjoyed Tuscany. 6/3/2007

I am young and moved to Salt Lake City in my youth. Though I spent many years growing up in Salt Lake I missed the better cuisine and atmosphere from larger cities where I had lived previously. It is no surprise that many people in Utah do not appreciate the fine dining at Tuscany because many people are not accustomed to their slightly different fare. I have been there on several different occasions and was always seated downstairs, in an excellent spot when i had reservations. The service, in my experience, was excellent and it is too bad other people have had a different experience with it. There simple but delicious thin crust heartbread has always been my favorite before my meal. Their salads are better than usual and generally enjoy their hearts of romaine Ceaser. Their wood oven roasted chicken always tastes like it was pulled right out of a wood stove. I appreciate the experience when I go. There are not many places in Utah that offer valet so I know it's unsettling for some people. The main thing to realize when going to Tuscany is that it is not the Olive Garden or Italian Village. Yes, it is expensive and the portion sizes are smaller than you would receive at one of those restaurants but this is fine dining; not your local Italian chain joint. For those with bad experiences, maybe give it a second try. For those who don't understand the prices and portion sizes then you probably have not been out of Utah often. Dishes like the chicken and halibut are of adequate, what I would consider generous, sizes. This is not Burger King so do not expect to get a Quad-Stacker sized cheeseburger. Acclimate yourself to a little culture and try to have a broader perspective of what a dining experience sometimes is. Pros: Great place to dine around Salt Lake City Cons: Not great if you aren't ready for a different experience from other offerings in Salt Lake more
