We came to Trudy's in search of bridesmaid dresses. They had a decent sized selection, however, only limited sizes. The staff seemed very stuffy, snooty, not friendly. When we ...

Loved the dress but not the service! 3/24/2010

It really made me sad that when my dress finally did come it was 4 sizes too small for me, despite me losing 15 pounds, according to my tailor and that I had no idea they ordered it too small for me. I had actually wanted to order it a size bigger than my size at the fitting since I hadn't planned on losing weight for the wedding! more

From a happy bride to be!! 10/28/2009

Wonderful! I came with a few of my bridesmaids so they could purchase their dresses. In the meantime I went to check if my wedding dress had arrived and sure enough..it did!! The best part was that I was able to try it on and I fell in love with the dress all over again as if it was the first time I tried it on. I was also able to find my veil and tiara. The lady who helped me was wonderful but I'm ashamed to say, I forgot her name. The service was wonderful and Stephanie in the bridesmaid department has also been a joy to work with. She as well as Connie and Marika and the nice lady who helped me with my dress last Sunday are very helpful and kind. Thank you again. more

I did not have an appointment and I happened to see a beautiful dress in the window and the staff were very friendly and squeezed me in for a 20 min fitting. Thank you! (I ended up trying on only one dress... and now I am looking forward to wearing it at my wedding!) more

From J. Adams09/30/09 10/16/2009

I heard so many horrible things about Trudy's and how they are snobby and expensive. That is not what I experienced at all. I came in on a Sunday with no appointment and they still had time for me. I brought in 8 family members and my bridal consultant spent 2 hours helping me. My dress was affordable, great quality and everything I hoped it would be. My dress was sent to me within 2 months. I love trudy's more

Great!! From Sophie M. 10/6/2009

Great! I think it is safe to say that Trudy's has the best selection of Wedding dresses in the South Bay. I was traveling up and down the coast looking for a dress and trudy's had ,by far, one of the best selections. Ask for Diane as a consultant. She has great taste, listens and never pressures you! Good luck in your search for a dress. It took me 10 months before I finally found, The one :) more

Re: Dress way too small 3/23/2008

Re: my review, below, this situation was redeemed by Lauren Irick, from Trudy's. She was so helpful and wonderful. It ends up Heather mis-measured me (by 1.5-2 inches!) which is why my dress was too tight. Lauren arranged a 90% refund on the cost of the dress. I am buying another dress from David's Bridal, which fits perfectly and will arrive in ONE WEEK, at no xtra charge to me. Pros: Staffperson Lauren Irick Cons: Inaccurate measuring, pushy, read fine print in contract more

Condescending Sales Staff 3/19/2008

I went into Trudy's looking for pink shoes, or to dye shoes pink. The two women at the desk inquired what I was looking for and I said that I needed pink bridal shoes. The older woman giggled sarcasticly and said ""They don't make pink bridal shoes, you have to buy white ones and dye them pink"". I was taken aback, but responded ""Then I would like to see your white shoes."" So she walked me to the shoe display and giggled again and said ""Did you REALLY think they CAME in pink?!"" At this point I was insulted. First of all, it's probably not a good business tactic to treat the customer like an idiot. Secondly, in a bridal/prom store, why is it so ridiculous for someone to be looking for pink shoes? To top it off, I learn that this woman is Trudy. So she leaves me there and tells me if I want to try a size on, to bring the display shoe to the front and someone will get me my size. So I do that, and I find one I like very much. BUT, I then find out they will not dye it for me! As I was leaving, I overheard Trudy on the phone at the register, speaking rudely to someone else! I'm so glad I didn't look for dresses there. more

Great! 3/14/2008

I got my dress and my bridesmaid dress here; great store! They had a nice selection of beautiful dresses and best of all, they were well staffed! I never felt rushed or had to wait. Thanks a bunch! My friends look gorgeous in their dresses! more

Excellent Selection 9/17/2007

After a long day of wedding dress shopping, I was pleasantly surprised by Trudy's. The woman who helped me was professional and patient. After describing to her what I liked and did not like about the dresses I was trying on, she found the perfect dress for my style and body type. I would highly recommend Trudy's to someone who wants a pleasant experience while shopping for their wedding dress. more

I Would Recommend Them in a Heartbeat 8/13/2007

My experience was totally wonderful. I drove from Sacramento to go to Trudy?s because it was recommended to me. When I told that to the person making the appointment for me, she was more than accommodating. Pros: Great Size Selection, Great Budget Choices more

Poor service 7/13/2007

As a bride-to-be 3 years I went to Trudy's to try on dresses. I had very clear descriptions of what I wanted and did not want in a dress. I wanted something simple, no beads or sequins, and less than $1000. Every dress the salesgirl brought me had beads or sequins and was way out of my price range. I am going to be a bridesmaid this summer and when I went to Trudy's to be measured, Trudy was at the front desk when I walked in. She didn't even look up at me when I asked where to get fitted. The salesgirl who walked up to the counter after I asked and was ignored by Trudy answered me hesitantly. Then, when I got my dress it was so big that I could pull it on and off without unzipping it. My seamstress said she could almost make another dress with the ""extra"" fabric. After talking with the other bridesmaids, I learned that this was the case for all 8 of us! The salespeople are supposed to be bridal wear professionals and should know how to size people appropriately. Pros: location Cons: Trudy, salespeople, dress size estimates more

The Perfect Wedding Dress 2/24/2007

I had heard of Trudy's many times before, so I took a chance and checked it out on a saturday afternoon. I was a little taken back by the prices, but I did see some amazing dresses that were not so costly. I made an appointment for the following day and was thoroughly satisfied with the service and overall experience. I found the perfect dress and the previous ones I tried on were just as beautiful. My salesperson found the right dresses for me and even brought out dresses that I had ripped out of magazines. She was not pushy and Trudy was honest and very helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for that Pros: Great Service Cons: Little Pricey more

Not a pleasant experience. 1/15/2007

If you want to enjoy your dress shopping, do not go to this place. I drove more than 1 hour to go to this place from san Francisco. Although I had the first appointment at 12 oclock on Sunday, and I was there at 12:00 o?clock, the door opened and the place was already like a zoo. Then I told them when my wedding date was (I had 5 months), the manager and the consultant started laughing at my face that I am too late. And they started pushing me to decide which dress I like. They don?t let you take pictures of yourselves. They don?t let you to go through the dresses yourself and pick, and I had to share the mirror with another bride. This was the worst experience I had. Then when I was leaving and they thought I am already gone, they started talking about how late I am in a very rude way to the next bride. I will never recommend this place to any one. There are so many other salons with much nicer staff and more pleasant environment. Don?t waste your time here. I ended up buying my dress on the same day at a bridal salon in San Francisco. . In short this place has no respect for its customers. Pros: good selection. Open on Sundays. Cons: poor and rude customer service, bad ambiance, too crowded. They don?t let you take pictures unless you order, so it is very hard to remember and decide. You cannot go through the dresses yourself. more

Buyer Beware 10/14/2006

At First you will love this place- It puts you in a romantic mood and makes you feel so wonderful to be a bride- But enjoy that feeling - because as soon as you sign that purchase agreement all the smiles and seemingly helpfull staff are gone. If there are no issues with your dress- you are lucky- but if anything goes wrong- and I mean ANYTHING- you are on your own. Make TRIPLE sure you are getting the dress you want- and be sure they are ordering you the right size- Inspect the dress withing an inch of it's life before you take it home- The sales girl I worked with- who seemed so sweet- LIED to my face when the wrong size came in- telling her boss that I insisted on ordering a dress that was two sizes too small- in short- WATCH OUT!!! more

The Original Bridezilla 6/1/2006

Although Trudy is charming throughout the sales ""courtship"", watch out! After a couple appointments, I had to admit that the dress of my dreams was out of my price range. I called Trudy to let her know the reason I wouldn't be ordering had nothing to do with her servicel. As I expressed my regret that I wouldn't be buying a dress from her, she launched into high pressure sales techniques. When that didn't work Trudy asked if the staff was good to me. I said, ""Yes."" Trudy shot back that if that were the case I should be ""good"" to them by buying a dress. I was shocked! It's too bad that what could be one of the best bridal stores in that area is ruined by it's own namesake. If I were you I'd go elsewhere to fall in love with the dress of your dreams! Pros: Great selection, Friendly staff Cons: Trudy more

great people, affordable selections 5/12/2006

These other reviewers don't know what they're talking about. The people were very nice from the time I made my appointment over the phone to trying on dresses. The salesperson was very helpful at listening to what I wanted and pick dreses in my price range. I brought a bridal magazine to show her what I wanted and she brought out dresses that were very similar to what I showed her. She even brought out dresses that she thought might look good on me. And to be quite honest with all of you, one of the dresses that she picked out was perfect. I went to other places but they didn't compare to Trudy's. Overall Trudy's was very affordable, the people were very nice, and I had a great time with my salesperson; she was awsome. They do get very busy at times, but it is really worth it!! Pros: great selections, nice people, great atmosphere Cons: nothing more

Rude Customer Service 5/2/2006

After I tried the first dress the salesperson brought out, she was very firm on my buying that dress. However, I stated I wanted to try a lace dress, which I admit she did bring me one but it was not what I had in mind. Her co-worker overhears our conversation and shoves a magazine in my face so I can show her lace. On top of things, I brought a friend who was helping me describe the lace we were envisioning and the salesperson's co-worker cuts my friend off in the middle of a sentence and states, ""Well, how do you know what she's talking about? Are you her good friend?"" Considering the prices you will be paying for the dresses, I would go elsewhere due to rude service. Sure, they have a nice selection but so do many other bridal salons int he Bay Area. Pros: Good Selection Cons: Poor Customer Service more

Be careful 5/13/2005

Our bridesmaids dresses were picked last week. The dress I tried on in the store was a size 8 and fit perfectly, even a little roomy in the waist, so I ordered the 8. The dress I received was significantly smaller. I was barely able to zip it, and once it was zipped, I was unable to breath. I have not gained any weight, either, but rather have lost two inches to my waist size since trying the dress on two months ago. Another Bridesmaid received a dress with a broken zipper, and Trudy's refused to pay for fixing unless we used their tailors, all of whom were booked until after the wedding. After paying over $200 for our dresses each, to be treated so poorly was disappointing to say the least. Having been a customer at the store for over ten years made the treatment even worse. more
